I was feeling okay for two weeks after my 1st round of EC (with a few side effects such as nausea, snappiness, etc.) I’m losing a good third of my hair.
I was supposed to have my second round on this weekend, but with my white blood cell count being low, it’s now being postponed till sometime next week. Obviously, I am gutted.
I didn’t expect to get so down about it, but more so, that I don’t really have friends who would support me since my diagnosis. I have been travelling back and forth to various appointments on my own. It’s not easy for me to join a cancer centre for support because of my disability.
It’s just me ranting here!

I’m really sorry to hear you’re feeling so low @pinklady2 dealing with cancer and the tough treatment regime is really hard but especially if you’re on your own. I would be anxious too if I had to postpone my chemo, I think we all just want to get it over and done with. You’re not alone though, we are all on the same journey just on different paths - please keep reaching out, we’ve got your back x

Hi @pinklady2
Sorry to hear your chemotherapy was delayed but it’s for the best. If your blood counts are too low you could be really poorly with more chemotherapy. Your team know what is best.
It’s totally understandable to feel down about the delay but in the scheme of everything you are going through a week delay isn’t much. I had a temperature at week 8 of 12 weekly paclitaxel, had several lots of antibiotics as well as 6 nights in hospital to get the temperature and infection under control. I then had a reduced dose of chemotherapy to finish the last 4. I was ready on 85% dose due to allergies and heart issues, the. 75% for the last 4. The team said I would have had enough chemotherapy, they usually give more than you need as they can’t give an exact dose for each person.
Have you joined the monthly chemo starters group. I found these invaluable for support during chemo.
You can also chat to a BCN nurse
- Helpline: 0808 800 6000 (Mon-Fri 9am-4pm; Sat 9am-1pm). Speak to our trained helpline team. No questions are too big or too small.
- Ask Our Nurses: You can message our nurses here on the forum, or confidentially. Whatever you prefer
This forum is a safe place for ranting, sharing and supporting each other. You are not ‘alone’ we are here for each other.
I’m sorry you don’t have anyone to go with you to appointments, I was lucky to have a very supportive husband who juggled full time work to help me.
Take care

Hello @pinklady2
Sorry to hear you are feeling down, going through cancer is a roller coaster and these down days come along, it can be very unnerving when plans go awry and send us spiralling.
You may benefit from some counselling, I had some and it helped with dealing with anxieties and stresses, they helped me see things from a different perspective and gave me a list to go through and think about if I thought I was losing my mind again, also, how to deal with certain situations . Your BCN maybe able to refer you to an holistic centre that can help you with this.
EC is hard going, get yourself in nature as mush as possible to keep your spirits up. Maybe some mindfulness will help too, again possibly could be arranged through your BCN, or just YouTube Mindful Movement is a good channel, they have loads of meditations to pick from, listening to these can reset your thoughts to be more positive and healing too.
Don’t forget to give yourself a big smile every time you look in the mirror and tell yourself you got this! Positivity goes a long way!
Take care and just keep ranting on here if it makes you feel better, there’s always someone to listen.
