Feeling low

Hi Dianne,

Glad you had no probs at the dentist!!! How nice to meet Roz,it’s good to meet in person, and have a good old chinwag!!!

Your insurance quote sounds pretty reasonable, specially after the last one!!! You will soon be on your way!!!

I am feeling a bit better today, I seem to get this ‘shaky’ feeling the week after the Zometa, and then it gradually improves until I feel fairly normal…then it’s time for another blast!!! Made an appt with the boob lady today, can’t fit me in until 6th Sept,!

M1yu,Anne and Julie, thinking of you all. Is Nicola still in France?

Take care, lots of love, Maryxxx

Hi Ladies,
I hope you dont mind me joining in this thread, I met Dianne today, and I have to say she is such a lovely lady and I can see why she is such a support to everyone, but the time flew by and we will meet up again. She told me about this thread so thought I would have a look, my goodness it is 47 pages long so will take me a little time to read it and catch up with you all, but I will get there. I know the thread is called feeling low but I have to say that since starting on this site I feel that it is great place to let out all your frustrations and maybe start to feel a bit stronger in yourself.
There are so many sad but also happy stories and so many great people.
Anyway I will carry on reading this.
Lots of love, Roz xxxxx

Hi girls,

Welcome Roz to the thread, it’s nice your and Dianne can meet up in person.

Dianne, great about your insurance. sounds like you’re all sorted for your cruise. Good to know no prob with dentist.

Anne, thinking of you for your chemo today. Hope se not too bad.

Mary, sorry you’re having se with zometa, good to know you’re improving. Also good to know appt sorted.

Not only did I have appt today, but also just had my 2 scans!! Went down to the hospital this morning to find out that’s going on. They told me that they’ve only just received the request yesterday - I’ve no idea what happened last week when onc told me it’s been requested already and why didn’t they phone me yesterday? Anyway, they checked a few things and told me to come back in the afternoon to have the scans! So, off we went and grabbed something to eat. Good that we don’t live far from the hospital. Of course can’t eat to late due to the CT scan. Got results on CDs again and by next Wed, hopefully should know everything… unless one of you know how to read these images!

I’m off now for a rest, it’s been a long day. Take care xx

Hi M1yu,

So pleased you’ve had your scans!!! Obviously some one made a booby!!!
pardon the pun!!! Lets hope and pray that the results will be good! Good idea to go to the hospital!!

Welcome to the thread Roz, pleased you have joined us. You will find a lot of support from everyone, I don’t know what I would’ve done without my friends on here!!!

Anne thinking of you,and hoping the chemo went well, take it easy.

Take care everyone, and have a good evening,

Lots of love, Maryxxx

Hi girls and welcome to the thread Roz, great that you met our lovely Dianne in person. It is funny how well we have got to know each other on this site and become great friends although we live all over the country and have never met face to face. I really don’t know what I would do without my wonder friends here, they keep me sane and we are always there for each other and hold each other’s hands when we are going through horrid things.

Well second chemo today – I get it two weeks out of three so break next week, thanks for being there with me. I’m feeling fine apart from occasional bouts of tiredness when I just have to lie down. Like Mary I feel a bit surreal at times, sort of spaced out – don’t know if it’s the chemo or the Zometa but all in all not to bad so far – long may it last!!! I know the down can’t be bothered, feeling very well Mary, sometimes you just have to give in to it. I hope it has passed and you are looking forward to your new studio, good that you are feeling a bit better today. At least you have an appointment for your new boob can’t have you lopsided!!

Dianne there’s definitely a bit of the gypsy in me too. Like Mary I would be quite happy just exploring in our caravan – just hit the road and off we go. Have to just have a few days here and there at the moment but who knows what the future brings. Might come and visit you all someday. Great dentist went well and out of the way now. Countdown to cruise I’m getting so excited for you. I think your insurance is excellent.

M1yu so glad you got your scan it was not fair to put you through the wait. Anyway another wait for you but I’m sure the result will be worth it. Everything crossed for next Wednesday and thinking of you.

Hope all well with you Julie and your dad’s care is sufficient. Still can’t get over how much he has to pay for it but I hope you have peace of mind that he is coping ok.

Perhaps Nicola has just decided to stay in France – looking at her photos on facebook I wouldn’t blame her one bit. Could really do with some sunshine, weather miserable here.

Lots of love to everyone else, hope you have a nice evening and chat tomorrow.

Love and hugs Anne x x

Hi girls, welcome Roz,

Couldn’t get on site yesterday but all sems well today. Was just on livechat and Nicola got back today, sounds like she had good time. We’re all looking forward to hearing about it Nicola!

Glad you got out of the down well enough to come to thread Mary, it is rotten and frustrating when you feel like that but sometimes we just have to ride it out and hope it doesn’t last too long! Glad you’re feeling a little brighter.

Hope chemo went well today Anne and hope se’s will be minimal. Sounds like the caravan was a great purchase, I love the idea of just being able to go where you want. There are several campsites in Sussex and even one here in Brighton if you ever come this far South!

M1yu so glad you got your scan, will be thinking of you next Wednesday.

Diane that sounds like a good insurance deal - well done. I’m getting excited for you, I’ve never been on a cruise, you must be really lokking forward to it now.

Well girls, I’ve done it! I’ve joined FB!! Don’t know what I’m doing with it and only got 1 or 2 photo on my computer to put on. Can someone PM me to tell me how to invite you to my FB friends? Thanks!

Hope you all have peaceful night, much love Julie xx

Hi everyone, I have had a quick trawl through all of the posts I’ve missed and am glad that you are all well, sorry if I am not focused enough to comment to you all individually, I will get back in the habit of posting regularly, that way I can keep up to date better. It is also good to see a few new names - so welcome to all that have joined us.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and best wishes in my absence, they obviously worked and ensured I had a fantastic time. We covered a lot of miles and saw lots of the real France and caught up with lots of Friends and enjoyed their company and hospitality. Earlier in the holiday I had a couple of ‘wobbles’. I was very short of breath one day and obviously feraed the worst! Until my husband commented on how thin the air was at such high altitudes! One panic over. Then when we reached our friend’s villa I had a permanent headache for 2 days, until I realised that it wasn’t such a good idea to drink so much alcohol in the hot sun! I then relaxed and even though we talked about BC quite a bit (our friends first wife died of it 15 years ago) I was talking quite openly and feel very confident that I am well at the moment and will stay so. I’m sure it’s a bit of denial but because I feel so well I am finding it hard to believe that things may change.

Then when I got home I had a letter waiting to say that the DLA claim has been accepted, with backpay! I was delighted at first but now feel guilty because I am so full of energy at the moment. But I suppose when I filled it in I was struggling to walk, so I didn’t lie! and I’d rather feel guilt than the pain! I have an appt at the orthopaedic hospital tomorrow so they may make a decision about whether to operate or not and the operation will make me ‘disabled’ for a while.

Anyway must go and start sorting all of the holiday washing, I will try to ‘sort’ some of the photos rather than just randomly posting hundreds of pic on facebook.

Take care all

Nicola

Good Morning Girls, Lovely to see all the posts. Especially yours Roz, told you it was a good thread didn’t I? They’re all very special ladies on here.

Nicola, you sound as if you’ve had a great time and I’m delighted to hear it. Looking foward to seeing the pics. The guilty feeling about the DLA will wear off I assure you. I felt like that at first, but I couldn’t care less now. Was just to Roz yesterday that people stare at me all the time when I get out of the car in a disabled spot and I have been known to limp away!! Actually my bones are crippling me today. Spent hours on here yesterday playing bloody Fairyland and I must have been sitting too long in one position. Serves me right!! Had a panic last night and this morning. Opened my latest packet of Bondronat to find ONE monthly tablet for 150mg when I take 50mg every single day! The packet was labelled correctly, just the wrong thing inside… Went to the chemist this morning and there’s a temporary pharmacist there who couldn’t have cared less and tried to tell me that it was the same thing. When I pointed out the difference to him and told him it was for cancer and not osteoporosis, he said ‘Oh yes, I haven’t seen these before’ Unbelievable! I told him I only have one tablet left now for tomorrow and he then said he would ring round AFTER he’d filled in all his prescriptions as he’s very busy. I completely lost the plot and told him that he’d better get it sorted NOW and if it was his wife standing in front of him, he’d be on the phone straight away. He then said ‘I don’t have a wife’ to which I replied ‘Why am I not surprised?’ (Not known for my sweet demeanour!! - Didn’t tell you that before did I?) By this time the entire shop had come to a standstill and one of the assistants said ‘You really don’t need this do you Mrs.Robinson you have enough to cope with’ - Understatement of the year. Anyway, I stalked out absolutely furious and went to the park with Jodie and swore all the way round. When I got home he rang almost immediately and in a grovelling voice he apologised and said he would have them tomorrow for me. TOSSER!
That’s my rant over for the day…

On a brighter note, the medical insurance cover arrived today, so I was very impressed as I only sorted it yesterday afternoon. Definitely deal with them again!

Mary, hope you are still feeling better and no more nasty ‘down’ feeling.

Julie, you’ve obviously sorted out how to invite friends onto Facebook cos I got yours today. Well done. Hope you and your folks are ok today.

Anne, praying that se’s kick in and that you enjoy the rest of your time off work. You can come down here and visit us any time you like, that would be great.

m1yu, marvellous about the scans, well done for going and getting it sorted out. I’ll have everything crossed for you on Wednesday, take care of yourself in the meantime.

Hope Sue is ok too and taking care of herself.

Well, better get off here now before this turns into a book. Stacks of love and kisses to you all. Talk soon, bye for now, Dianne x x x x

SORRY ANNE, MEANT THAT I HOPE THE SE’S DON’T KICK IN. SORRY, SORRY, SORRY! Lovya D x x x

Hi girls

Great to have you back Nicola was speculating that you might just stay in France, photos on facebook looked so lovely. Brilliant you had a great time can’t wait to see all your pics. Pleased your got your DLA, I too felt a bit guilty when I got mine as still working but when you look at what we are going through and have worked all our lives for – we deserve it.

Welcome to face book Julie – if you check out my profile you will see pics of our lovely caravan and last trip to Dornoch. It’s great to be able to share photos, can’t wait to see Niocola’s from France! Hope all well with you.

Hope you ok Mary and se’s not too bad. Hope you getting plenty rest and feeling better.

My se’s not too bad just, tired and achy and can’t get going so on laptop in bed trying to arrange a trip for my daughter. She is 21 at the end of the month and musical daft so trying to arrange a surprise holiday for her and her boyfriend in London, nice hotel and to see Les Miserables, her favourite musical. Good fun checking out sites but not good for neck!! I have never done this before so if anyone knows any sites could they possibly pm me them. Not sure if it’s cheaper to book separate or do a package deal. Flights from Inverness are not bad so want to get booked before they go up. She will get such a surprise!!!

Lots of love to everyone, Dianne hope you having good day and M1ju hope se’s are going and you are managing to pass time waiting for your results. Hope you enjoying catching up on all the posts Roz – will take you some time! Wayne anyone else reading hope you ok.

I got a letter through today for another scan – oh joy, scary time again.

Have a great day girls, oh due home at 3 so hope to have prised myself out of bed by then!!

Lots of love and hugs Anne x x

Hello everyone, hope you are all bearing up on this rather gloomy day (down South, anyway). I had my onc’s appointment yesterday and all went rather well. As I knew the results anyway, there was less trepidation than normal and I’d written down a list of questions to ask her so I was, for once, well prepared. She said that my last scan was much better than she could have anticipated, which cheered me up no end. I had also found a lump beneath my cheekbone which she checked out and said it was probably a muscle and nothing to worry about. Feeling a bit drained today and the weather doesn’t help much. Still, feeling ‘as good as can be expected’! Dianne, I hear your frustration regarding the pharmacist. Aren’t they taught ‘people skills’? Glad he had to grovel to keep your custom!!

Best wishes to all.
Alison x

Hi girls,

Anne, good to know se not too bad. Enjoy your chemo break next week. Maybe go away again in your caravan! It’s lovely you’re planning a surprise for your daughter. Have you got a date for your scan? Seems we’re all having scans or tests one after the other! Hoping for positive results about your new chemo.

Julie, welcome to FB. I’ve added you… think I picked the right person!

Welcome back Nicola! Glad you had a nice time. Looking forward to all your photos on FB.

Dianne, what a horror show at the chemist! As he has apologised now, we’ll forgive him.

Alison, nice to hear from you and that your scan results are good.

Mary, hope you’re not having too much se from Zometa.

Been to clinic today for line clean, all organized for next week… blood test first, while waiting for result to come back, will see onc to get scan results and treatment plan for next stage, then will have my Zometa… it’s going to be a long day, but at least I’ll have everything sorted on the same day.

Will pop into my office next Fri to keep in touch with work and get a few little jobs. Just check train ticket online. It’s gone up again! And I can’t believe they’ve cancelled the standard delivery option (which is free). All I’ve got are either pick it up from the central train station (nearest one about 30min bus ride) or pay £6 for next day delivery! And my return ticket only costs £6.80! Goodness, they know how to earn money! It’s a complete disgrace I think. I think I’ll forget about the booking and buy it on the local train…. Have got to learn driving when I’m a bit better!!! How could this encourage us to use public transport and protecting the environment??

Take care all xx

Hi Ladies, well I cant believe it I have just spent the last 20mins typing out a post and I have lost it, so will start all over again, its got to be in cyber space somewhere.

Thank you all for your warm welcome it means a lot. I have got through a lot of the posts but still some to go, think it will take some time, but will carry on.

m1yu,They do seem to be messing you about, but was good you were able to have the two scans while you were there and didnt have to make another appointment for them. Will keep fingers crossed for wed that all is ok. Noticed you have had another app today, glad blood test was ok, wont be to long till wed, fingers crossed they sort your plan for you and it is not to bad.

Mary, Yes it is good to have support, think we all need it now and again, if it is any help to you when I had Zometa I had the shakey feelings it was like having flu and also had the shivers, but like you say it didnt last long.

Ann,Felt like you when I was on Zometa, seems it is a se of that drug, but if it does us good then we just have to do the best we can with the se’s.
I havnt had chemo so dont really know what you are going throughbut send you all my love and hope you enjoy your third week.Sounds the best place to be in bed when you are feeling like that,if its any help when I went to london last year I booked the hotel through Super break and they were very helpful, I got in a bit of a pickle doing it over the internet so rang them in the end and they were great. I hope your daughter has a great time.

Alison, The weather isnt much better in Lincolnshire, I was feeling a bit last night so put the heating on,( in August I ask you)
I am glad you had a good meeting with your onc good idea to have all your questions ready, Il do that next time as I seem to come out and then think I wish Id asked this or that.

Julie, Well done for joining facebook, my grandchildren are always on it, but I wouldnt know where to start, so well done you.

Nicola, glad you have had a good holl, sorry about the ‘wobbles’ isnt it awful that if we are feeling anything out of the norm we always feel the worse and it is related to this awful disease, and oh the relief when we realise it isnt. Loved your comment about the wine, Im with you there, had 4 bottles of champers at the weekend with 3 girlfriends and had a good night. I am pleased you have got the DLA, you should not feel guilty we are enitled, this should make it poss for you to get a blue badge and your car taxed, (I am sorry if I am telling you something you already know). Hope your appointment has gone ok today.

Dianne, Cant believe what you had to go through at the chemist, what a jobs worth, hope you gave him what for when he rang you. Sorry to hear you are having a bad day today with the se’s, keep taking the Glucosamine, I might sound a bit thick but what is Fairyland??
Good news about the travel insurance, shows it pays to do some reserch. I really enjoyed our meeting, looking forward to the next one.

Hi all, sorry submitted befor saying
Lots of love Roz xxx

Hi Everyone,

Hi Julie, glad to see you on Fb!! Hope you are not having too many se’s from the Zometa.

Nicola welcome back, so pleased you had a lovely time, and really looking forward to seeing your pics!!! It was good to spend time with your friends, and be able to talk things through with them. Glad you are feeling so well at the moment, long may it continue!

Dianne what a charmer that pharmacist was!!! Just what you need when you were panicking!!! Glad you sorted him out,I would’ve loved to have seen his face, when you made the remark about him not having a wife…priceless!!! At least you got an apology!!! Hope your neck is better…did you ever do anything about the collar?

Anne hope the achy feeling has improved, I’m sure it is caused by the Zometa!! Well you are having a double whammy, chemo and the Zometa, but you will have a break next week!!! Hope you get your daughter’s surprise sorted out, can’t help you with any advice, I have never booked anything like that online, but someone will be along I’m sure!!!

Alison even though you have had good news,it can be very draining, I think it is all the tension, and the build up, glad your lump was nothing to worry about I am very pleased that your scan was good. Take it easy!!

M1yu what a bummer they stopped the standard delivery thingy!! Nothing ever stays the same!!! I think you may as well just go direct to the station…learning to drive will be you next project! It’s great that you are starting the process of getting back to work I am sure you will get a big welcome next Fri!!

Roz, isn’t it the pits when you lose a long post!!! I had that trouble, until the girls advised me to type it onto a word doc, then copy and paste that way doesn’t disappear!!! How long have you been on Zometa, I have 6 sessions so far, and thought the se’s would be less by now!!!

Well I woke this morning still feeling pretty low, and have developed a new pain in my hip, which is getting me down,I will see how it goes. I have perked up a bit, went to visit some friends this afternoon , and managed to forget BC for while!!! The weather is lousy here in Suffolk, quite dark already, and it’s just gone 7!! We have just lit the fire!!!

Hope I haven’t left anyone out, but I am thinking of you all, and sending lots of love, have a good evening, Maryxxx

Hi Mary, I had 10 cycles of Zometa when I was first Dx in dec 2005, then went on the Bondronat tablet, which is a pain to take as you have to wait half an hour before you can eat and have to stay upright in that time as well, but if it keeps bones strong thats what I will do. Zometa is supposed to be very good at controlling the bone pain, and according to my onc stays in the system for a long time, so lets keep fingers crossed that it kicks in soon, I was sorry to hear that you had a pain in your hip yesterday,is it any better today?? you must get it checked out ASAP.
Well my husband has decided to decorate the lounge, (oh Joy) he is a perfectionist so it is not even worth me bothering to offer to help, not only that but is going to sweep the chimney as last week we lit it and nearly set the thing on fire as it hadnt been lit for a while. I now have to go outside (in the rain) and let him know when the brush comes out the top, the neighbours will think I have gone potty standing in the drive in the rain looking up to the sky.

Lots of love to you all Roz xxxxx

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all well. Roz, the neighbours will just think you’re looking to the heavens and praying for guidance!!!
Enjoy the decorating, at least your husband is a professional so he’ll know what he’s doing. Fairyland is a mindless game on Facebook which I spend hours playing. You build a garden up and water other people’s and spot wildlife. Actually I’ve got to know loads of people through it, it’s a bit like this but without the bloody cancer! As Mary says, you can type your post on a Word document and then copy and paste. You won’t lose it ever again!!

Mary, so sorry you are feeling down again and that your hip is bothering you so much. Glad you perked up and enjoyed some time with your friends, but if it doesn’t go away please go and get it checked out asap.

Julie, hope all is well with you today and you’re not struggling with se’s.

Nicola, hope you are still feeling good today and looking forward to seeing the pics.

Anne, so pleased the se’s aren’t too bad and I hope you are feeling well today. Stay in bed with a good book, the weather is so awful isn’t it? It’s been really miserable all day today, I haven’t been across the door. Had my streaks done in my hair and enjoyed the time with my hairdresser. She’s so sweet and I make her laugh so we always have a good time. It’ll be lovely for your daughter to go to London to see one of the shows. I did that a couple of years ago with my daughters for my birthday and we had a marvellous time. We went to see Billy Elliott and went for a meal etc. My daughter did the booking though and we went on the train. I think she booked the whole package but it was all really nice. Good hotel, the lot.

Alison, I’m so pleased you had such good news and that the lump was nothing to worry about. I’ve been waiting to hear from you about it since you went on Tuesday so that’s a big relief. To be honest, I don’t think they really know what these lumps are, my onc just dismissed it out of hand.

m1yu, so pleased that the blood test was good and will be thinking of you next week on Wednesday. It will be great if you can learn to drive, another achievement for you. How lovely to be going into work on Friday, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and your colleagues will be happy to see you.

Well, hope I haven’t missed anyone out and I hope my dear friends, that you are all well (or at least getting there). Take good care of yourselves and lots of love to you all. Dianne x x x

PS. Got my tablets from the TOSSER!

Hi girls,

Miserable weather here, too. Hasn’t stopped raining since yesterday morning. Had the heater on all day.

Chemo nurse texted this morning to say that no Zometa next week! Onc changed his mind and I’ll be having it every 4 weeks now my chemo has finished. Hope he’s made his mind up this time. So, “just” line clean and scan results next Wed.

Got to go now!!! Write more tomorrow.

Take care xx

Hi Girls,

Roz thanks for the info, the tabs are a nuisance,I used to take a monthly on, before I got the secondaries, and I had to take that an hour before I could eat, I used to moan at one a month, I don’t think I would like everyday!!!
My hip pain has eased a bit today, so will see how it goes over the next few days, and I will have it investigated.
Hope the decorating went well,my husband hates it,at least yours seems to know what he is doing!

Dianne it was an awful day,I didn’t go out either, and it is so dark tonight, just like winter! Glad the TOSSER got your tabs…bless him!!!

M1yu I thought you would go back to 4 weeks, it seem the norm, I know I will be going on to it in the near future! Will be thinking next week!

Julie loved your pics,it is nice to put a face to the name! I’m guessing that they are you sisters in the photo…aren’t you lucky!!!

Anne hope you are feeling better tonight! Thinking of you.

Nicola and Alison, hope all is well with you.

Take care everyone, thinking of you all, lots of love Maryxxxx

Hi girls

Sorry Dianne I last posted before I read the pharmacist story – silly man to mess with out Dianne!!! Glad you got it sorted thought and good for you what a bloody cheek treating you or anyone like that. Pleased you enjoyed your hairdressing session – mine badly needs done wish you could send her up to me!!

Alison great news about your scan and glad the new lump turned out to be nothing to worry about. I know what you mean about the weather it definitely affects how I’m feeling but its been lovely today in Inverness so even managed a little weeding this evening. Our turn for some sun although I spent the day in bed so bloody tired but at least that’s the only se of new chem so far.

Great to hear you on such good form M1yu and lovely to pop into work to start getting back into the swing of things. I haven’t a date for my scan yet – have to phone them tomorrow so probably next week. I totally agree with you about the price of public transport – it should be really cheap to encourage people not to use cars. So much for thinking of the environment as you say. It would be good to learn how to drive though it just gives you so much freedom. A nice wee goal for when you feel up to it.

Hi Roz – thanks for the tip about Super Break it looks really good so think I will be using it. Good to know that you can talk to someone about it too so often these sites have no contact numbers and no answer especially when I’m booking it for someone else. Will keep you posted. I hope your chimney sweeping went well and the neighbours are still talking to you!! Know what it’s like to have a husband who is a perfectionist – mine’s exactly the same.

Mary good your hip is a bit better but like everyone says dont leave it if it continues!!! I don’t blame you not going out – it’s been like that up here lots of the summer!! Today the sun was shining and I was in my bed – typical!!! Anyway when I finally did manage to get up I feel really good so can’t complain. Just giving into the tiredness and resting, which I am usually really bad at – being a good girl!!

Julie great you’re on facebook, it’s such a brilliant way to share stuff.

Hope you still enjoying holiday buzz Nicola.

Working at the weekend so hope tiredness wears off by them, meanwhile at least I feel fine when I’m awake and fit to do things. Long may that last but hope I tiredness wears off by the weekend so I can enjoy break next week.

Lots of love to everyone, hope you all having a good evening. Anne x x
