Feeling low

Hello My Loves, Hope you are all well today. Mary, I hope the pain is getting less. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping all is well with everything crossed for you.

Anne, great to hear that you are feeling good. Enjoy your time off work, hope the scan goes ok and you get brilliant results.

m1yu, will also be thinking of you tomorrow and praying all is well with you.

Wayne, I’ve written to you on the other thread and Roz I’ve pm’d you.

Hope Julie, Alison and Nicola are all happy and well.

This is a bit scrappy I’m afraid as I am up to my eyes in packing and last minute washing/ironing. My oh is an expert in finding last minute items that he just has to have and no Anne, I’m afraid he’s one of these that leaves it until the last minute. Then it’s ‘Can I just put this in your case?’ I don’t know why he bothers to ask, because I always say no!! At 6.00 this morning he asked if we should pack our shoes and toiletries in one case…as I’ve already done mine - the answer was no again! I don’t know if I’ll get on the site before I go as I have a stack of things still to do. I loved having my stepson here, but he didn’t leave until this morning which put me a day behind with it being a Bank Holiday. If he hadn’t been here I would have had a lot more things sorted. My parents arrive on Thursday so I’ve been to the supermarket (again) and made sure there is everything in the house that they can possibly need.

Anyway my darlings, take good care of yourselves until I get back. I won’t have access to a computer as Dave has decided not to take his laptop and when I get back I don’t want any nasty surprises, so stay well! That’s an order! Love you all loads, Dianne x x x

Hi Ladies,

Wayne, I am so sorry to hear that you think the glue hasnt worked on Maryanne, I cant answer your question but I see that Sandras comments have put your mind at rest a bit. I will be thinking about you both and send my best wishes.xx

Sandra, I am so glad that you were able to give Wayne some lovely words to help him understand what is going on. xx

Anne, So pleased to hear that you are feeling much better, and 'normal@, long may it continue. I hope you had a nice weekend with your daughter and her fiance (dont know how to get the bit on the top of the e) Hope the scan went well and the results are good, how long do you have to wait for them??? Your job sounds very interesting and it is good that you can carry on with it. You mention that you cover the Highlands, does that mean you live in scotland, I was born in Aberdeen and love to go ‘home’ as I call it. My goodness you deserve to have a lie down during a 16 hour shift. Hope you dont snore!!!xx

Mary, Sorry to hear that your pain killers were not so effective over the weekend, does that mean you didnt get to the pub??? wont be long until tomorrow then hopefully they can do something for you, I will be thinking of you, and will be there in spirit.xxx

m1yu, To be honest with you Im not that good on the DS, only have Countdown and one with quite a lot of differant games on, so would rather be eating the ice cream.Good luck tomorrow, will be there in spirit.xxx

I went to a local agricultural show yesterday and walked round all the trade stands, didnt see anything to buy so came home with my money burning a hole in my pocket. I paid the price today for all that walking and stayed in bed till 12, so had breakfast and lunch rolled into one, and wouldnt you know it Im in bed and the sun is shining!!!

Love to Alison and Nicola, hope you are both ok.

Lots of love Rozxxxx

Hi girls

Lovely day up here in Inverness so spent it pulling up the weeds that have thrived in the rain. Funnily enough I love weeding so I was happy and content – long may it last. I will probably get the result of scan next Tuesday so putting that to the back of my mind!!

M1yu will be with you tomorrow for your results I’m sure you will be celebrating tomorrow night – we will all be with you!! Sleeping on the grass sounds wonderful!

Mary will be thinking of you tomorrow and glad to hear you are starting to feel a bit better but get plenty rest. Getting tomorrow over will I’m sure help we will be thinking of you.

Oh Dianne you sound so busy. Lovely you had good time with your stepson. I don’t know if you will read this till you get back but have an absolutely wonderful time you so deserve it. Don’t worry about us we will all be surviving the rain whilst you lie basking in the sun lol. Can’t wait to hear all about it and see the pics.

Ros I know Aberdeen very well my grandparents are from there and my daughter went to uni there and is currently doing her clinical psychology training there and in placement at Cornhill hospital. We live in Inverness – do you come ‘home’ often? I do snore very loudly but thankfully there is no-one there to hear lol. Another good thing about the job is that we work alone – no germs of bugs when on chemo. I love agricultural shows – worth a long lie and brunch!

Wayne I’m pleased you have had some good advice from Sandra and m1yu I do hope it helps put your mind at rest a bit. There is so much experience on this site the women are wonderful. Sending hugs to you and Maryann I do hope things get easier for you both.

Julie – hope you have had a rest after your hectic time, you certainly deserve it.

Lots of love to everyone and thinking of m1yu and Mary tomorrow, holding your hands and with you both. Have a good night my dear friends. Anne x x

Hello My Precious Friends, just a quickie to say thanks so much for all your good wishes. I’m knackered from all the packing, went to bed at 9.00 last night. Been for my spray tan this morning and now I feel like a big fat sticky pudding sitting here!

Take care of yourselves, Mary and m1yu, thinking of you today. Great news from Nicola.

Love u all loads, Dianne x x x

Hi Girls,

Hope you are all good today, at least the sun is shining!!!

Well saw a lovely onc this morning…not my usual miserable one!!! and had quite a long chat with him, he said that my hip was cloudy on my original scan, but he thinks that there is cancer there, I described the symptoms I am having the week after the Zometa, and he and I agree it is the se’s. I am having quite a bad reaction to it, he did suggest going on that drug that begins with P,and takes an hour and a half to infuse, but I wasn’t keen, so have opted for 4 weekly rather than 3,and see if that makes a difference, he also said there is a 6 week option,so have some choices!! He said if the pain was persistent, which it isn’t just flares up badly after treatment, then he would do some radio!!! He thought that things were going well, markers etc,so I was happy with the outcome!!

I am feeling so much better today, I can’t believe the change,I felt so ill last week, and couldn’t imagine ever feeling well again, but my pains have gone, and the fluey.feverish feeling has disappeared as well!!! Thank you all for your support,I could feel that you were with me, and it was such a comfort!!!

Dianne hope you are all sorted now…as if you could ever be a fat sticky pudding!!! I don’t think so!!

Roz I did get to the pub on Sunday for the charity do, unfortunately it was a wash out, so hardly anyone there,it was a shame as there were some good bands…I did have my palm read though, and was quite surprised how accurate it was, she picked up that I had a serious illness, said my life line was weak in the middle, but it got stronger towards the end…I am taking that as a god sign!!! Hope you are having a good day!

Nicola I was so happy to hear your latest scan results…it is great news!!!

Anne hope you are having this sunshine, and enjoying your garden…makes such a difference when the sun shines!!

M1yu Hoping that your results are good!!!

Alison and Julie hope everything okay with you!!!

Take care everyone, thinking of you, and sending lots of love, Mary xx

Hi girls,

Great news Nicola! So pleased for you.

Mary, good to know it’s se rather than BC.

Dianne, just think you’ll leave all the troubles behind and how much you’ll enjoy your holiday. All the preparation won’t be too bad then… or maybe not!!

Anne, hope you’re still enjoying the nice weather and chemo break.

Here’s my BIG report of the day coming up…

If you remember, I mentioned before that there is a possibility the tumours in the liver will disappear all together at the end of the full course of chemo. Well…. It’s no longer a possibility but a reality!!!

Back from the appointment today, the report on the CT scan results used the word “scar tissue” and they have possibly been “neutralized”. In other words, there’s no indication of active cancer!!! To be on the safe side, my oncologist is going to organize another more detailed scan (thus more expensive) for me, called a PET scan. Unfortunately, BUPA doesn’t have a contract with the scanner in Bristol, which means I’ll need to travel to Cardiff for it, but that doesn’t matter. It’s going to take probably another week to get it sorted out and you guess it, the decision of radiotherapy and op on liver is going to be delayed until the result of that scan, which means more waiting.

Will continue with Zometa and start hormonal treatment (Zoladex and Armidex) next week. Will need to go to GP to get a form sent off for free prescription.

Popping in to work on Fri and I’m getting a bit excited to go back.

Thanks you soooo much for holding my hands today and be with me. I can finally have a good night sleep now!

xx

Hi Ladies

I haven’t been able to get online much recently, as my laptop has broken and as it belongs to my work, i will have to wait at least another week, until the technician is in, to get it looked at. I have to keep snatching odd moments when my son is out or when my husband is not working (this option is hardly ever :o) ) I have been thinking of you all though, I have had a few chances to read some of your posts but not enough time to reply…I ‘bought’ an hour off my son last night to use his laptop (with promise of a pizza hut buffet in return)but I couldn’t get onto this site which was very frustrating! I think I am up to date with what you are all doing. I am particularly pleased with m1yu’s fantastic news, I am also glad that Mary’s hip pain is SE’s. I still have cancer in my hip/femur but the pain has gone and stayed away! I saw the orthopaedic hosp. last week and they re-x-rayed it and it is showing no change. So my op is on hold until/if I want it. Basically it won’t cure the cancer anywhere else and will only be for pain relief, so if it starts to hurt and the pain gets unbearable I am to get in touch with them and they will do it straightaway as an emergency case. otherwise they will leave me alone.

My other good news for those of you not on facebook, is that I had my CT results Yesterday and there has been no progression since I started taking the Letrozole, so I am delighted that it appears to be working! (I was a little worried as Aromasin quite obviously didn’t work!) I also finally got to start Zometa! (only waited 3 months!) I seem to be Ok Today, but don’t want to speak too soon in case SE’s suddenly kick in with a vengeance!

I also went back to work Today to start my part-time job and all my colleagues had last seen me in July looking really tired and hardly able to walk, + I had that really bad limp! It was lovely soaking up all the compliments about how well I look, nobody can believe how I am completely back to normal now, a few even commented that they didn’t expect to see me back!

So basically I feel great and hope this will continue! Love to you all and I wish you all lots of good news too! - Good Luck goes in 3’s after my results, then m1yu’s who’s next? hope you keep up the good luck!

Take care, love to you all, Nicola xx

Hi Girls,

M1yu I am absolutely thrilled for you, what a great result!!! It was worth all the suffering!!! Do hope the PET scan gets sorted quickly… oh M1yu I am so very pleased for you, you deserve a bit of good luck…bet Mum and Dad are over the moon!!! Enjoy your 'feel good ’ time!!!

Nicola… yes there was a problem getting on the site, hope you get the laptop sorted, was wondering were your were!!! I am so pleased about your news as well, you also deserve the good luck!!! I do hope that you have no problems with the Zometa…I think I have just been unlucky!

My onc does think that my hip pain is cancer, but it is the Zometa that is aggravating it, he doesn’t think it is a new site,it has just flared up! I had an x-ray today which didn’t show any fractures,so he is leaving things alone, but if it causes any problem, then he will do the radio!!! I haven’t any pain there today…it’s really strange how this bloody disease works!!!

Well girls enjoy the rest of the evening, lots of love, Mary xxx

Dear m1yu and Nicola,

Been following your posts and really pleased for both of you with your excellent test results! Hope you’re enjoying the lovely, warm weather.

Hi girls

Oh M1ui what a brilliant result I can’t express how pleased I am for you it is absolutely wonderful. I know you are going to have more waiting but it really sounds as if you are being looked after well and they are being extra careful. Couldn’t be better timing for you going into work on Friday and starting to get back getting to some normality. Hope you are celebrating well and have a great night’s sleep now you can relax.

And Nicola your results are so amazing. It is wonderful news and I am delighted and your excellent result gives us all hope it is so good to hear. Great to know that everything is on hold but plan in place if you ever needed it which I hope you don’t. What an amazing change in 6 weeks Nicola, it must have felt wonderful walking back into school looking and feeling so good. It is just brilliant.

Mary I am just over the moon that your had a good onc – about bloody time!!! Doesn’t it make all the difference when they listen and answer questions and explain things. So good they have got to the source of the problem and there are different options to be tried out to get what’ best for you. It is great that you are feeling better and the achy fluey feeling gone – I so know what that feels like. Now you can enjoy your visitor, relax and catch up on some fun, you deserve it!!!

Dianne – I’m sure you look are gorgeous as ever. Hope your are on your way and everything packed and sorted and having a great time. Sounds a lovely way to spend some time and relax.

Hope Alison and Julie having good time.

I had a lazy day after my weeding yesterday but my youngest daughter has an interview for a job on Friday so helping her get organised for it tomorrow – fingers crossed. Still feeling good – long may it last it makes all the difference on chemo if you know you are going to get a good week. One session down – not sure how many to go but it’s ok so far. Will know result of neck scan tomorrow – am a bit confused about what the other one if yet but will let you know.

Great end to a day for Mary, Nicola and M1yu I am so happy!!! Lots of love and hugs to you all Anne x x x x

Hi Lovely Ladies,
What a lovely day it has been, and what great news,

Mary, How lovely to see an onc that takes his time to explain things to you, mine is the same, and it makes all the differance. Its prob a good idea to go for 4 weekly if he thinks your pain is se’s of the zometa, and I wouldnt worry to much about the cloudy hip, mine has been like that of 4 years now and has stayed the same. Do you think all your symptoms are se,s of the zometa, it does sound like it ??
Sorry to hear the charity event was a washout, its such a shame when people have gone to a lot of trouble. Love the idea of the God sign or did you mean good sign??

m1yu, Well what fantastic news, you seem to have gone throught the mill, but what a wonderfull outcome with the liver mets. I bet the way you are feeling right now you would travel anywhere to have the PET scan. I am sooooo pleased for you, and send a big hugxx Hope all goes well with your visit into work. Sleep well xx

Nicola, Great news about you CT scan results, I am so pleased that the Zetrozle is working so well, I know that Mary has had a few problems with the Zometa but if it is any comfort to you I had no problems at all except for the flu like shivers but that only lasted a day or two, and I had mine 4 weekly, so hope you will be ok with it. I love the idea of uying time off your sone to use his lap top.
Must have been a great boost to know that your work colleagues thought you looked so well.

Anne, I normally try to go home at least twice a year, my aunties and cousins live in Aberdeen and Stonehaven, I love it there, its lovely around stonehaven harbour and along the beach. I have been to Inverness a few times, it is a lovely place. Good luck to your daughter for her job interview. I am so pleased that you can enjoy one week, and good luck with your results tmm.

Dianne, Not sure if you will read this before you go but hope you have a lovely cruise, looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

Well I have been out with the OH today, we went up to Beverley and had a look round the shops, still didnt spend any money, and then
onto Bridlington, it was nice walking along the front but it was busy and full of seagulls, so wont be going back in a hurr. OH treated me to fish and chips in a very nice fish restaurant, so not all bad.

Love to you all, hears hopeing the good news keeps comeing, Lots of love Rozxxx

Love the idea of you buying time off your son to use his lap top

Yea,hoorah, brilliant, super, great…!!!Such good news on the thread today!

Thrilled for you M1yu - have a really good, peacefuk nights sleep!

You too Nicola, great there’s no progression and good that hip is not needing op at moment, long may that be so. Lovely that work can see you’re improvement.

Mary, so pleased you saw nice onc.So relieved that se’s rather than any additional/new cancer. It’s rotten that se’s have been a problem for you but at least there are adjustments and options available. I’m on 4 weekly and have been lucky with se’s. I hope 4 weekly will suit you better.

Anne, so glad you’re still feeling good. Hope scan results will be as good as all the news we’ve had today, will be thinking of you.

Roz,sounds like you had a nice day, fish and chips made my mouth water! I know what you mean about seagulls, it’s the time of year when the young ones are finding their voices and are out and about and don’t we know it! I live by the coast but hardly ever go to the seafront in the summer - don’t like all the day-trippers!!

Goodnight to you all and even if I haven’t mentioned you by name you’re still in my thoughts, with much love to you all, Julie x

Hello My Darlings, This really really is my last post before I leave. The trouble is I just can’t resist having a look and then I want to write to you all.

Mary, so glad you saw the nice onc, I’m very sorry to hear that it’s the cancer playing up, but at least they’re sorting you out with pain relief etc and I’m delighted that you are feeling better today. I sent you a text message yesterday, so hope you got it ok.

M1yu and Nicola, I’ve already sent messages to you both, but just want to reiterate how absolutely thrilled I am for you both. It’s marvellous when we all get some good news.

Anne, so pleased you are feeling well, good luck with the neck scan today. Everything crossed for you and all my love.

Roz, sounds like a lovely day out you had. Looking forward to seeing you on the 5th Oct.

Julie, hope you are well, you sound as if you are ok which is great.

Right, I’m off to get ready to pick up my mum and dad from the train station, so take care of yourselves everyone, love you all loads, Dianne x x x

Morning Girls!,

Well it’s a lovely sunny morning here, would love to sit in the garden, but the farmers have been ‘muck spreadin’ lovely smell…not!!! The joys of living in the country! We have visitors coming this afternoon, Auntie, and family including her great granddaughter, only 9 mths old!!! Really looking forward to it! Auntie is going to stay with us until Sunday…hurrah!! I am feeling so much better,I can’t believe it,…but am enjoying it!!

Julie I am glad the Zometa is suiting you,as it is so many others, but I feel when I have made the adjustments, things may improve, also I think when you know it is definitely se’s you can cope better with it!!! Hope you are having a good day,and avoiding the crowds,it’s the same here, lovely when they leave!!

Anne…am thinking of you,do hope everything goes well with your scan, and you too will have some good news!!..holding your hand!!!

Roz… you gave me some hope, when you said your hip hasn’t changed in 4 years!! That is brilliant for you, I was only dx in April, so still trying to come to terms with it. I think most of my probs are se’s after the Zometa, everything is so much worse, for instance I never had a hip pain like that before!!! I am hoping that when I change my regime it will improve…I haven’t any pain today!!!

Nicola and M1yu,hope you are still enjoying your high!!!

Dianne, sorry my phone was in my bag in the car and I didn’t see your text until late last night!!! It was a lovely thought, and lovely to read just before I went to bed!!! Two weeks…how are we going to get through without news from you!!! Have a great time, looking forward to hearing all about it,and seeing your lovely pics!!!

Well ladies,I am thinking of you all, and hoping you enjoy your day!!

Lots of love Mary xx

Roz meant to say, I did mean ‘good sign’ but I like the God sign’ better!!!

Hi lovely ladies, Its been another lovely sunny day in Lincs, but I spent the morning in bed getting over yesterday.

Julie, I know what you mean about the day trippers, couldnt get past the line of people waiting to get back on their bus.I would think being near the coast is nice in the winter when everyone has gone home and you can have the place to yourselves.xx

Mary, Oh poor you, what a stink, we get it as well living in the country, but think I would rather that than living in the middle of a largr town, its what you get used to I suppose. I agree ‘God sign’ sounds better.xx

Not much to report today, had a lazy day, but one bit of good news was that I got a letter from the DWP to say my DLA will carry on for another three years, and then I will prob have to go through it all again, I suppose they want to know why I am still alive because we claim under the ‘special rules’, but thank god I am.

Love to Anne x, Dianne x ,m1yu x, Nicola x, Alison x and Wayne x, hope I havnt forgotten anyone.

Lots of love Roz xxxx

Hi All, does anyone know that at the bottom of each of my posts it says ‘edit this comment’ and it doesnt under anyone elses. Strange.

Love Roz xxx

Hi Roz,

Think we can only edit our own comments, but not anyone else’s. But if you’re not happy with other’s comments (hopefully not), you can “Report this comment”. That’s my understanding anywhere, being a computer programmer  Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Dianne, hope all our nice news have given you a good send off. Have a nice time on hol. We’ll miss you!

Mary, enjoy your visitors and the weekend with them. So glad you’re feeling better.

Still on a high. Take care xx

Hi m1yu, I think I see, so when you look at my message on your computer does it say at the bottom ‘edit message’, because it does on mine, I get what you see about only being able to edit your own message, so I suppose when you look at your own message it will say that at the bottom of yours and no one else’s. Hope Im making sense.
Would never dream of using ‘Report this comment’, think Im just being a bit blond. Love the new picture, must get round to putting one on my profile.

Lots of love Roz xxx
