Hi Vickie, having done no.4 it’s better now, feels like the end is nearer, at no.3 I felt I had to do everything all over again. I think we are so rough on ourselves, struggling on saying we are ok when we are not. How can we be ok with everything that’s happening to us? I hope you feel better today. Tax-c day 10 and main se still the muscle pains, quite tired compared to this stage on fec, but this could be due to hectic weeks and heat! Hope se’s are holding off for all! Tinax
Hi all just catching up with this thread, have had a bit of a wobble but OK again now.Now Tina what sort of attention, as a blonde have you been getting. Anything you want to share?Well done on ticking off No 4.Sorry you are feeling so tired but this heat does sap the energy too doesn’t it. Had most of my chemo in cold and sometimes snowy weather and still felt tired so I had no climate excuses.Yes Suze and Saffronseed what can you say when asked how you are? fine when you’re not but does save on explanations and with some folks I just don’t want to talk about it anyway.Anyone else feel like that.Tedoris sorry you are feeling down at the mo we are all here for you as Marial and others have said, we do understand.Moan/rant away as much as you like. Sandrae how lovely to get visits from twin g-d bet that does cheer you up.T-shirts like that need a health warning don’t they? could just catch you at a bad moment/ or a good one. I am looking forwards to seeing my g-s in Aug the youngest will be 5 in 2 weeks time, and my d-i-l is pregnant again and due in the New Year. Should make 2011 a good year to look forwards to always supposing my BC treatment is over should be because it will be just over a year from dx by then. Suze sorry to here about your vein probs and hope the line sorts that out for you.Hope s-e of FEC still at bay and you are enjoying the sunshine.Marial how is that kitchen coming along? Hugs to all hope I haven’t missed anyone out Jackie xx
LOL Jackie! Honestly, I swear blokes do that sort of “winking” thing, never noticed it before, so assume it’s a blonde moment! Congratulations for the new addition to the family, being a gran must be fab! Middle of chemo is a trying time, I am so glad that this support is here. Keeping on top of my nail painting, after seeing some ladies with the post tax nails who also had worn vanish I wonder if it is worth it? Hope everyone will feel better after the weekend. Hugs to all! Tinax
Apparently it is very common for ladies to have a chemo wobble on session 4 or 5 as seems to have taken a long time but isn’t over yet. Everytime i am in my post chemo fog for a week, i think i can’t bear the thought of doing it agaian and feel physically sick at the thought, but by this stage ( i am due first tax on thrusday), i am ok to get on with it. Am hoping the tax isn’t too bad though so i feel like that next time too!
Although i have three treatments left, i feel like only 2 are real ones, as my theory on the third is that after that one, every day is a day you are feeling better properly, rather than another day feeling better so they can kick you down again in a few weeks. So on that basis, i have 2 full treatments left, and then one at the end, so it makes 5.5 treatments in all. Totally different to three left and means actually, am just over half way there as i have already done 3 out of the 5 and a half treatments…
Feeling in 2 minds about changing chemo. At least i knew where i was with the fec whereas am nervous all over again about starting taxotere. However, i also have done all my fec now, been there, done that, and however bad the tax is, by the time i realise it i only have 2 more to go, and as i have explained, the last one is really only half a one, so really i will only have 1 and a half more to go.
And no, i do not accept in any way at all that i am overthinking this!
Vickie
Tax has affected me differently. (day 4 today) No sickness at all and felt ok ish until today - whether its the heat or not i don’t know but my head is soo hot - even bare headed my head is constantly wet.
Bones and Joint aches too… strange sensation, not aching all the time just sharp shooting pains which come and go and as they are unexpected when they come they do hurt. Mouth very sore, lumps on my gums and tongue irritate when I eat. My nails… well my nails actually hurt! I feel as if someone has banged all my finger and Toe tips with a hammer - I have the dreaded dark nail varnish on so can’t see whats happening to them, but my fingers are sore and my cuticles are red. Sorry to moan and hope I am not putting people off but I must admit this TAX is taking its toll on me today and I am feeling a bit sorry for myself.
Hi Saffronseed, maybe it’s the hot flushes setting in? I still have very achy muscles 10 days after second tax. Mail nails feel ok, saw some ladies with post tax nails and they look ridged and slightly discoloured, despite nail varnish, so I am not too hopeful to escape this with doing 4 tax-c. Sorry, it’s making you so achy, too. Vickie, once you have done one tax, you will be much nearer the finish!
Hi everyone my Se have gone now and im more back to normal this week and again eating like ive got hollow legs. Tors you make me chuckle at your calculations of your treatment but i know exactly what you mean cos im doing the same im onto no. 4 next time and saying im 2 2/3 rds of the way throuh now and only have to feel like this another twice and its done . they gonna give me the stronger anti-sickness with next one cos i was really bad and wobbly ,teary etc does seem to be no. 3-4 that everyone has a wobble. Anyway me and the OH went to the lake Ullswater at the weekend had a fab time red hot and we were sitting chilling having our picnic when the air ambulance literally landed next to our car ( so much for a peacfull day out ha ha) then mr top gun got out with his shades on ( very fit ) he could have given me the kiss of life anyday. as it landed the wind whipped up and dust was blowing everywhere really hurricaine-like i had to hang on to my wig so for all you out there who are a bit worried i just thought id share that mine has been tested to helicopter strenghth and it stayed put ha ha . it was hilarious.hope everyone else enjoying the sunshine and feeling well hugs to you all xx julie
Hi Ladies,
Julie, pleased to hear your wig has past the helicopter test!
Just a word on the ridges in the nails, It is called Beau’s lines, and is where the chemo kills the cells, just think if it does that to your nails, imagine what a good job it must be doing on those *loody cancer cells
Hope l get lots of ridges, and hopefully it means the chemo is getting deep down into every little nook and cranny!
Love

have noticed i have stripy nails! 3 lines, one for each chemo so far.
In case anyone else is having probs drinking after chemo, i have recently found cans of appeltise good, the can means you can’t see the liqiud and it is 330 mls so you know what you are drinking, plus its just apple juice thats slightly sparkling, no rubbish in it. Also, bottle green drinks are 2 for 1 at sainsburys, normally 2 quid a bottle, and their elderflower and the white grape sparkling ones are nice and i could drink them a bit better than other stuff.
I too am having real problems finding something I like to drink as I don’t like the taste of anything so far despite trying nearly everthing at supermarkets. I don’t like sweet things and don’t want any acidic like juice. My main drink diet is sparkling water although the taste is not good - I have tried coke too but its a bit gassy - any ideas for something to get my taste buds going would be appreciated. I am totally off alchohol.

Hi,
I have been drinking apple juice, never liked it before!
Saffronseed, what about if you let the coke go flat?
Just a thought!

I like Morrisons Fruit of Forest diluting juice. It is very refreshing and always keep a small bottle made up in the fridge for convenience. Hope you find something. Joyce.xxx
Hi everyone
I tend to drink flat lemonade as I struggle with water or anything gassy or friut juice. Started on pineapple juice but cant stand that now think I might have overdosed on it first time!
I have just recently been suffering with sore gums has anyone any advice as seen onc today and just said yes yet another side effect! But nurse has given me a gel to use. Hope this works!
Well off for chemo in morning usually have a bad nights sleep before dont know why should be getting use to it by now!
Hope everyone is getting on ok for those starting TAX this week good luck!
Take care sarah x
flatish lemonade is good for me too, as for sore gums, mine haven’t been to bad so far but about day 7,8,9 i get an extremely sore throat and back of mouth that is so tight it makes swallowing hard. The difflam mouthwash has helped the mouht and numbing pastilles have helped the throat, but not much!
