Glad all went well. It seems less scary once you get one under your belt so to speak. Hope you don’t get any nasties re side effects. Am bit confused about condom remark. Haven’t read anywhere that we need to be using condoms would be glad to hear if anyone has heard any differant.
Hope you stay well after no 2 Bella, and good luck for tomorrow Lorna.
Will probably sign on again later, just off to cook dinner, only omlette and chips. would rather be having roast like you Ostrich but can’t be bothered today.
Again not something I need to worry about :o( but I too had heard about the condom remark… and found this on Cancerback
“It is thought that chemotherapy drugs cannot pass into semen or vaginal fluids. However, just in case, most hospitals advise that people having chemotherapy use condoms for up to a few days after the treatment has been given.”
thanks for the welcome- sorry dispeared after my first appreance- just had my 2nd FEC yesterday. Felt waful and threw up again. Still feel strange today. White blood count quite low so they gave me another injection today to help that.
Glad everyone is wellish! Feeling better today than yesterday. Still feeling a bit sick but lots of ginger beer has helped control that! Apart from face feeling flushed due to steriods and headache and generally feeling “poisoned” haven’t felt too bad. Feel very lucky and hopeful that I will only have a day or two post each kimo of feeling bad!
Back wound has decided to open up and scab to come off leaving a hole! Can’t get to see my surgeon today and can’t really fit me in next week (not that I want to go with immunity being low then) so BC nurse has suggested I go and see my GP and local treatment nurse to have a look and dress it if necessary. Bit worried as am over 5 weeks post op and facing low immunity and do NOT want an infection!!
I soooo want to be fully healed from the surgery and thought I nearly was (the surgeon said I was okay to go ahead with kimo) and to be able to have lie down baths and pamper myself to get me through the kimo!!
Have appt to see wig lady on Saturday so will hopefully have spare hair for when my hair goes. Although I am shedding much more than I normally do (and I do loose a lot of hair a day) my OH has already booked to spend next Friday night cutting my hair into all sorts of “fun” styles before shaving it. I said I might not be bald enough to worry by then but he’s very keen!!
Am also going to see optician to get some more disposable contacts as suddenly thought that with no hair and going “naked” with glasses will look awful or even wearing a hat or wig the glasses will not look good either sitting under my hat/wig as you will see the bald sides or over the top. Am going to work on having great eyes to make up for lack of hair so may even go for some funky brighter green ones to enhance my natural colour!
Oh, and kimo has helped with not wanting to smoke! Couldn’t have touched a fag yesterday and have firmly stuck patch on today! How I miss it! The silly thing is BC isn’t related to smoking and its the gums that are forcing this on me. My oral hygene has always been good but I seem to be destined to be unlucky with my gums and quitting the fags is the only thing that is going to save my teeth long term. Why can’t I just have one thing to deal with at a time? Why did I have to have bad gums as well?! Just have to get on with it I suppose cos I can cope with the thought of no hair (and its only temporary) but no hair and no teeth!!! I’ll look like a turtle!!!
Oh Ostrich, glad you’re feeling OK-ish but sorry to know about the back wound opening up. Let us know how it goes and hope you see the BCN soon. You’re doing well on the no fags, even if it’s been caused by our friend kimo!. What style wiggy do you fancy? I have a few now so I can dress to suit my mood.
I’m off to kimo this arvo, FEC 2 unless they find another reason to postpone it. I haven’t had a call to say my wbc/neuts aren’t uo to scratch so fingers crossed. I felt like sh1t, really exhausted at the mo, but am still going to dress up a bit - no reason to let this defeat me. Think I’ll go for a rock star look today ;-)!
MY Oh is being pretty rubbish still, lurking in his office. I had to send him an e-mail this morning to ask him to look after his son so I could get a sleep - and this is him on a week off when he doesn’t even have to be in the office.
I had my 2nd one yesterday… and feeling really really rough! threw up all night … every 15 mins until 3am! didn’t have this the last time! and they have even given me the more expensive antisickness drugs this time… well they don’t work for me… have taken 2 lots today… and this is the 1st time I have managed to sit upright for more than 2 mins… but not gona hold out much longer…
I did FEC2 this arvo, went OK, but feeling rough as the proverbial at the mo. I told my kimo nurse that the Ondansetron had disagreed with me last time so she’s decided not to tive it to me this time, just to take Metoclopramide instead. Hope it works!
So sorry you were sick so much, hugs to cheer you up. Heather said that in her experience ladies on FEC often get a bad reaction to one cycle. Really really hope that you feel better soon, it sucks.
Sorry to hear you not feeling too good lorna, hopefully will soon pass. Seems that 2nd FEC seems to be hitting most people quite hard - not looking forward to mine next Tues. not that I was anyway if you know what i mean. Had bloods done today and wbc and neuts low so had to have injection and anti biotics so hopefully will be better by next Tues.
Hi Ostrich - nightmare news about your back wound, hope dr will be able to sort it out for you. My hair is also shedding quite a bit and am also losing ‘ladygarden’. Good luck with the re-style hubby sounds like my hairdresser - scissor happy! lol
Hi Cat hope all went well this afternoon - am sending virtual kick up the a**e to your hubby :0)
Hi all, quick update from me. So sorry you’re all feeling so rough. I’m not too bad, actually better than last time. Rather tired, just needed a siesta this afternoon, a bit queasy but haven’t actually been sick, Ondansetron seem to suit me so guess I’m lucky
Love to you all, especially Irina who I read has had an awful time. We will get through this together. Bella xxxxx
Hi all. Haven’t been on the PC for a few days cos OH is working from home for a few days to ‘help’ LOL, and his laptop’s not working with the wireless connection so he’s been hogging the modem.
I, too had my second FEC yesterday and, like Bella, am not feeling as bad as last time. Just a bit tired and listless. My mum came today for a few hours, but left before she got too much. So sorry for those of you having a bad hangover after this week’s partying - Cat, Lorna, Irina - and your back would sounds a real pain, Ostrich, but will heal in time we hope.
Was pleased with myself Tuesday: a full day in the office in Connie (my wig) and no one seemed to bat an eyelid - though they were mainly blokes. Tho one woman said, ‘Hi Liz great to see you back - and your hair’s fantastic.’ THEN I went to the pub afterwards with some friends AND said yes to a second glass of wine AND didn’t get the headache. But then that was day 20 of the 21-day kimo cycle.
Just waiting for the day 4 bulldozer to hit me now.
But that’s several of us one-third down now. And next time will take us to the magical half. Hurrah!
Half sounds so good! Hopefully those of us feeling awful after our 2nd FEC will find it’s the worst one and 3rd will be better. Hope people being sick feel better soon. I so sympathise. Apparently FEC is the worst chemo combination for sickness.
So sorry to hear you are all feeling rough on your kimo, virtual hugs to you all (((((((((((0))))))))))))) hope you are all feeling better very soon.
Cat I hope your husband pulls his finger out. Mine is usually useless but has been pretty fab since my DX - long may it continue. Its a real shame (and thats an understatement) that he can’t/wont be there for you when you need him most.
I am feeling better today than before so hopefully coming up out of it. Back wound has an infection so am now on huge (650mg) penicillin so hopefully will be well in my system by the time my white cells drop off and the bugs wont take hold! I just want to be healed to have a deep bubbly bath and feel feminine again!
Take care, off to make dig the guts out of a pumpkin for my youngest’s sleepover tonight, xxx
Just had my first trick-or-treaters, but if I hadn’t remembered to whip my hat back on, reckon I would have looked a lot scarier than them. Bald tufty head and chemo pallor more horrific than any mask they could sell LOL!
PMSL, that’s what I wanted to do, but by the time we got home from trick or treating, no one else came round to our place - I was disappointed, I looked like Uncle Fester! James wanted to get a light bulb in my mouth to finish off the effect.
My heating and hot water broke down last night, had to wait 5 hours for British Gas to come out, the man fixed it and then half an hour later it broke again, I had to go to bed with a hot water bottle, different man came this morning and has fixed it again and has left his mobile number in case it goes off again.
My daughter has been away for 4 nights with her Dad - Alton Towers, Blackpool etc - she came home this morning looking shattered, too many late nights I think, poor girl has been asleep in my bed cuddling her fluffy duck for the last two hours. It is so hard for her seeing me bald. Even worse with chemo pallor but I put some fake tan on yesterday and now look as if my liver’s a bit off!
Hard to believe this will be over by January. Is anyone else scheduled for chemotherapy on Christmas Day?
Hi All
Sorry to hear about your heating problems Irina… hope you are feeling a bit like you are coming out the otherside.
I am slowly coming back … stopped taking the antisickness today (after my steroids this AM) I so hate putting those things in ,…esp when they don’t seem to be doing anything!
My 5th Chemo is due Newyears eve… but my Chemo nurse said I can book for the firday 2nd if I want to… I think my chemo dep shuts Xmas day and Newyears day.
Yeh 3 months and it will all be over… tho I really am not looking forward to round 3 after how I am now!
Thanks for the hugs… sending them back too
Will get up put on my Sunday best tomorrow… not gona let this poison win!
slowly gettng back to normal now. Thought about going out for trick and treat last night- as only got patched hair left - it would scare people naturally without any customs! But decide to stay in as was really week - will go out to scare people the other time lol
Still not doing much - the injection to boost my white blood cells made me feel a bit ache and pain on my body so decide to take it really easy.
Have been wearing the sea bands on both waist- helped with my sickness so highly recommended
