First FEC 2nd October

Hey, some lovely positive postings.
I know I,m a “newbie” here (did post last year but didn,t get the same lovely welcome that you ladies extended  so stopped posting).
Hehehe I,ve also forgotten on occasions to “cover up” and has made me chuckle at people reactions!

Sorry to sound stupid, but what is FEC? You all seem to know so much about what treatment you are having - here I,m just told I must have “this” and that,s it.
I,ll dig out my prescription and maybe you ladies can enlighten me. For example Cat, you say you are onto Tax next. ??? So what treatment are you having now?
All I know is, the treatment I had last year obviously didn,t work - on a different combination this year + Herceptin.

On a lighter note: Cat you said you would like to see some pics of Kaya Köy. Is there a facility on here to post pics? I,ve looked but cannot find anywhere to post pictures. If not I can give you my e.mail address or my Facebook addy where I have posted some pictures.

I understand that this site goes quiet over the week-ends, so I wish you all a happy, pain free week-end. Please, all try to be positive and I,ll catch up with you all next week.

Hugs

Morning!

Avonlea thanks re the date :o)

Aslansmum… Hi and welcome… FEC is the drug combination of chemo… there are many combination and even strengths… I’m get copied in on any letter my oncologist sends (to my surgeon, GP and BCN breast care nurse) in the letter it states which regimen I’m on… tho she did tell me also) I’m on FEC 75 x 6 … there is FEC60… 75 and 100… I think those on 100 only have 3 then switch to Tax. I am right ladies?

Anyway you can look at cancerbackup.org.uk/Treatments/Chemotherapy/Combinationregimen to see the drugs

Talking of Turkey (not the feathered kind) I have been twice… same resort… but 20 years between visits… “Side” am now looking forward to booking a Holiday for when this is all over… somewhere warm!.

Hope everyone’s well

HI all you lovely ladies,

I’m on 6 x FEC75 so am very relieved to know that my symptoms and experiences should stay consistent and I don’t have to worry about any changes to this. I feel for those of you heading towards TAX and really hope you get on OK. Apparently the sickness/nausea is almost zero which must be a blessing.

Going shopping with my daughter (9) this afternoon so I’m sure to come back poorer!!

Have a great weekend everyone before cycle 3 next week (Tuesday is party day for me - oh joy!)

Bella x

hi everyone. Haven’t been and posted for ages as fell victim to a cough and cold post FEC2. Resentful that I lost my good weeks this cycle and hopeful that my counts will be recovered in time for kimo on Tues - final FEC for me too, then onto TAX. As always this thread is supportive and encouraging. Everyone is so busy. I am one of the lucky ladies as we do get ‘look good, feel better’ at our centre and I am booked to go this week.

Best wishes

Tanya x

Evening Ladies…Hope you arre all having a good weekend. I have done a lot of sleeping this weekend, but I did go flat out all week and the black rings under my eyes by Friday were definitely telling me something!

I have felt fine, had a fab walk yesterday with a friend and her weimaraner - two weims are a real joy together and we always spend ages out with them. Dinner at my parents was nice too…

Am suffering with aching limbs the last few days…it’s either from walking or FEC…I tend to think it is the latter, so will mention it to one of the doctors when I go into work tomorrow as the thoughts of DVT keep popping into my head (I know, paranoid!)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies - will catch up with you all in a few days and good luck to all who have treatments this week

Morning Ladies

Just a quickie from me because I’m feeling moronic. Didn’t get to sleep until 5am this morning, then slept through until 9am, so major panics because that meant I was running late for everything today. Hope everyone is well and happy. Who is off to their kimo party this week? I have my third and final FEC on Thursday, then have to prepare myself for the dreaded Tax.

Cat xx

Hi, I had my first Fec on Friday. I felt sick n tired straight afterwards but have been fine since then. A little tired perhaps but thats from the anti sickness pills and not being able to sleep. Im really surprised that I didnt feel crap for longer. Ive been contradicted by people about how it will be, some people say I will be the same through out the whole lot and some people say you feel worse as you go on. Is that again just down to the individual. I start Tax next year so I know im pretty much going to feel worse on that. I uses the cold cap to just to hang on to my hair for xmas. Ive been told I ll lose it on Tax anyway which im not looking forward to but feel like it would be an experience I need to go through.

Anyone had to injections 5 days after for 5 days to boost your white blood cells? I hear yo feel like you ve got the flu when you have them.

Im also having the PICC line put in next week. Is that pain free?

Hi Emelf

gald to see you are not feeling too bad after the 1st one. I have done 2 FEC so far and for me they are a bit different each time. But in my case i also had a flue jab and white blood cell booster with my 2nd one so it is hard to say by far how it is like each time. But my kimo nurse said everytime is almost the same.
My peer supporter said she got more tired towards the end. But there are some partens to follow - i throw up each time and could not sleep well. I am learning also not to eat any acid food. For example, after my 1st FEC i ate some tomoto pasta and that did not do me any good. So after the 2nd FEC i only had some rice porriage, which was much bearable when it came out from my throat!!

Sorry i have not have a PICC so donot know much about it.

May i ask why do you need Tax? Mine just 6 FEC…

Hope you recover well.

Good question actually. Im assuming its because my tumour was quite big and it spread to my lymp nodes and i had a mastectomy. How old are you? Im 29. Think its cos im young to.

Evening all
How is everyone?
I managed to work today but overdid it. I,ll never learn LOL
Sorry been lazy and haven,t dug out my prescription so that you can advise me (bury the head in the sand more like…)

I recieved a call today to go to Antalya for tests this Thursday!! Something about my lungs and liver. I,ll find out more when I get there. Hope to God they are just routine check ups (didn,t happen last year :frowning: )

Hope you,ve managed to catch up on your sleep Cat.

Soo xx

Hi everyone…hope you are all well. Sorry to hear about the sleep Cat…it’s really not getting any easier for you to get your rest is it, hon.

Aslans Mum…I think most of us here in the UK get the liver and lung checks as a matter of routine. I had them prior to surgery - also bone scan and chest x-ray. Let us know how they go - they are all pain free and you may be able to ask the results on the day, which is also comforting.

I received a lovely bouquet yesterday. it was in a massive box and when I opened it there was a balloon attached saying I love You…It was from my best friend…how lovely.

Pheebster 4-legs and i are off to meet a friend for coffee and croissants at a lovely little french patisserie this morning. I just hope it stops raining soon as we’ll have to sit outside. No work today - a day to myself to catch up on the ironing and get a few crimbo presents on line.

Hope you are all doing well and good luck for Thursday Cat - half way already!!!

Sorry, forgot to say… Emelf…welcome.

My tumour was also large, so chemo was on the cards from the start. I was given a choice of 6xFEC or a mix of FEC/TAX…but i was told the mix was a ‘little punchier’. Cat and Liz are also on the same regime.

Regards a PICC Line…I wish i could have one. terrible problems with flattened veins, but I may have to have the hickman instead. I work for doctors and they all say they are a god send and I should have asked for one from the outset (I was too scared haha) but i think they are pretty painless. good luck with it.

Well bloods were fine… WBC actually higher than pre chemo… maybe it’s the magic of the manuka…

Off to the party room tomorrow :o( good luck everyone

FEC3 done today - hooray half way!!!

Love to everyone, Bella xx

Just a quickie!

Lorna, great that wbc is higher than pre-chemo, good luck tomorrow. Bella, well done, you’re half way there!!! Pheebs - bouquet sounds gorgeous, lucky you. Avonlea - hello:-). And welcome Emelf. Who have I forgotten?

Had mega kimo brain last week, wrote invites to my son’s third Birthday party and forgot to put the date of the bash on it - d’oh! Now got to find all the parents and tell them the date, but since I don’t know all of them at his school, it’s going to be fun and games.

I’m off for bloods tomorrow, hope the wbc is up to scratch, especially after the vile Neupogen jabs. Then if all goes to plan, I’m partying on Thursday. God knows what the bloods are going to say, I’m getting next to no sleep at night and no rest during the day or help around the house. James had man flu all weekend so the time that I usually use to get a nap was taken up with the usual chores and looking after both my son and my oh-so-ill husband. I’m starting to think that James actually wants me to peg out from exhaustion and BC since he’s sod all help at the mo.

Sorry for the moan, just feeling utterly let down at the mo. My Ma is coming up on Thursday to give me a hand over the weekend since James is in Dubai, though his absence will surely only make life easier since I won’t have to pick up his mess. God I’m a grumpy cow tonight…

hi Girls

Welcome Emelf. Half way through Bella, bet you can’t believe it. I’ll be same next Tues as long as bloods ok on Thurs. Fingers crossed.

Hope your bloods will be ok Lorna and good luck for tomorrow.
Hi Cat, what a nightmare about invitations, thats the sort of thing I’d do, mind you at least now I can blame it on something other than just being away with the fairies. It’s nice that your mums coming up, you can’t beat a bit of mum TLC. I know I’ve missed mine, shes had really bad cold for ages so haven’t seen her and miss her like crazy. Like the idea of having things a bit easier while James is away, aren’t men just a nightmare when they’re ill! Don’t apologise about moaning by the way, we all do it on here, sometimes it’s the only time we can have a good old rant. Hope bloods are ok tomorrow I’m sure they will be after jabs. Will keep things crossed for you.

Hi Pheebster hope you enjoyed your coffee and chat today.

I went shopping to a nice big shopping mall in Bristol today AND COULDN’T FIND ANYTHING TO BUY!!! AAARRRGGGHHHHH. Still, had coffee and cake with a good friend and a catch up on gossip which comes a close second to retail therapy.

Have a good evening all and good luck to all having kimo this week.
Love Caz x

Morning Ladies…Congratulations Bella - half-way mark already. Time goes so quickly doesn’t it, yet the thought of 18 weeks of chemo at the outset feels like eternity.
Are you moving on to TAX or staying with FEC?

I am getting a bit worried about the move to TAX already (even though I still have one more FEC next week, which will be my half-way marker) but I suppose when I look back and see how fast the FEC treatment has gone, it’s not the end of the world to put up with a few more aches and pains (who am I trying to kid!!!)

I’m feeling really tired today. I think I am on day 14 so bloods must be at their lowest. I have that feeling you get when you are waiting for a cold to push its’ way through your system…sleepy eyes and sluggish legs. The best thing for me is a good walk, so once I’ve taken Aaliyah for her emergency orthodontist appointment (bloody braces are a pain in the rear) I’ll get out with the dog and get my energy levels going.

Cazz: How is the hair? I washed mine on Monday and the plug only filled up with hair once this time (Previous time it was 3 full plug holes). To look at my hair looks no different but it does feel thinner - in fact, I had it cut last week to give it a bit more shape - but I am losing hair slowly but steadily. I’ll stick with the cold cap and just see how I go. I do wear a scarf in bed though and when I’m cooking. I think the cold cap is more effective with TAX than FEC, though i could be wrong, you hear so many conflicting stories, its difficult to know who/what to believe?

Cat - chin up girl. Your mum will be there soon and then its’ your turn to get some pampering. Let us know how the bloods went. Mine were low last time, which really threw me off course, and it wasn’t until the day of kimo they got back to normal. This time i think I will get my bloods done at the latest possible opportunity to give them the best chance of being ok.

Stay well everyone - have a good day - and good luck to all those who have treatments this week

Morning All ( ha I sound like a copper )

Just a quickie as got to get ready to go out. Need to go to our local Outlet Village to buy new quilts for the kids. Daughter moaning ( in a nice way ) about how cold she is getting at night and when huby went in to wake her this morning she had got up in the night and had two pairs of pyjamas on. lol

Pheebster with regards to hair mine seems to have slowed down on the shedding front too. Just the odd strand or two if i run my hands through it and much much less in plugholes. Think I may go and have a trim too as seems to be sticking up all over the place. ( Ken Dodd has never been a good look. ) Have also noticed that grey (aaarrgghhh ) seems to be showing at roots so MIGHT get this dye I’ve read about on another thread which is apparently really gentle to use but very effective. Theres one on sale in Sainsburys ( might bump into Ant & Dec lol ) and one in Holland & Barrett ( gosh I sound very vain but I do like my hair to look nice ) ( gosh son’t believe I just said gosh ha ha ).

Cat hope you are feeling better today and hope the sun is shining where you are.

Have a FAB day ladies.
Bye for now Caz xx
