First FEC 2nd October

Pheebs

Neuprogen shot it should have said - its the jab to boost my wbc.

xx

Evening all - to echo the police woman theme

Sounds like you had a rough day with nausea Cat but that everyone has been busy out & about & enjoying themselves.

Love the idea of calling the prostheses jellyfish - I thought of mine as chicken fillets! Had bilateral and getting on well with them - sure it’s easier because they both feel the same and the bra accomodates two falsies easier than a breast an a falsy. Was unlucky to be an even bigger cup size than Pheebster before so getting small boobs has been such a bonus. One up side to this whole chapter in life.

I am lucky to have been feeling ok but temp keeps niggling along at 37.6 - a bit close to the limit for my liking. Need it to behave not to miss daughters birthday party tomorrow.

Pheebster - hope 4 legged Pheebster is good and dry now. Do you ever walk up on the pillows? If so maybe we could meet up there one day when all this chemo is over and we venture back up to MIL’s.

Sending positive vibes to all you lovely ladies, Tanya x

Hello ladies

I woke up early, don’t know why, couldn’t get back to sleep, so I’m naughtily scoffing left over Thai takeaway that I haven’t reheated to disintegration point.

So, who wants a bit of my story this morning? Today was supposed to be my wedding day…but thanks to the bc dx it isn’t. I got my dx on 22 July, total shock (just like it was for the rest of you) and told I was having a mastectomy two weeks later. I was gutted, devastated, terrified. What scared me most was the possibility of something going wrong and not coming through the surgery because that would leave my son in an awkward legal position where his father didn’t have full legal responsibility over him. So, the next day we cancelled the wedding, there was no way I could even contemplate getting married at a big old castle (James had always dreamed of this so we’d hired Rockingham Castle for the day) minus a boob, no hair, being sick and miserable. The registrar told us when we cancelled the wedding that if I got a letter from my consultant then she would get the Head Registrar honcho in London to grant us a special licence to get married more quickly than the usual three week wait required, so we though cool, let’s do it. So on the Thursday, two days after dx, we got a letter and at 4:30 that day were told we were getting married at 10:30 on the Saturday morning! Anyway, to cut a long story short, because you’ll all be falling asleep with me wittering on (good thing for those of you on the icky steroids), James and I dashed around like mad over-excited puppies for two days and bought everything you need to get married: wedding dress, two rings, flowers, food, even got a photographer friend to rearrange his day to take photos for me). And ta da! we got hitched, with our cloest family and friends cancelling plans for other weddings they were meant to be attending, abandoning parties, and travelling from all over the place to be with us. A lot of my really close friends live overseas so they couldn’t make it in time.

So we’ve been married four months now but today should have been my wedding day and I feel sad for James that something so random and uninvited could have spoiled the big exciting day he dreamed of. So, I have a cunning plan…there’s a lovely old stately home nearish to where we live called Rushton Hall (Google it for its website), and as a surprise I’ve booked us one of the state rooms (Van Allen if you want to look) for tonight, along with a special dinner. My brilliant friends Tina and Andy (withough whom I don’t know how I’d be coping at the moment) are having my son to stay for the night so I can give this surprise to James. I’m trying to make it as romantic as I can, so am taking along a bottle of Champagne and glasses, have bought some handmade vegan truffles (cos I’ve been vegan for 20 odd years and suddenly fancy chocolate), and a vegan wedding cake! The management at our local Waitrose gave us a wedding cake when we got hitched but we couldn’t eat it - James hates fruit cake, I couldn’t eat it because it contained eggs. So my lovely specially commissioned 4" chocolate wedding cake arrived in the post yesterday and it looks so cute.

I hope I can pull the surprise off…James has been told that our son is going to friends so that I can take him out to lunch. James knows how to show a girl a good time, he often drags me to MaccyD’s so that he, the skinny git, can scoff enough burgers and fries for a family of 4, while I sit and eat a green salad, so he thinks I’m taking him there or to Burger King, I know how to show a boy a good time, too! Meanwhile, my son’s stuff was packed and delivered to my friends’ house a couple of days ago, just got to pack our suitcase then sneak it into the car without James noticing before giving him the postcode to key in to the GPS wotsit.

Well, I have yapped on for ages about my plans for today. I feel that I’ll be damned if I’m going to let bc stop me from enjoying life as much as possible so here’s hoping that I don’t suddenly feel sick again (don’t usually do nausea after chemo) or fall asleep at the dinner table since I’m usually tucked up by 8pm these days!

Everyone, I hope you all have fabulous Saturdays and that you have a super duper Birthday party for your daughter, Tanya, looking forward to photos!

Much love to you all xx

Wow Cat. What an amazing story from an amazing woman. Hope you pull off the surprise and have an utterly fabulous time. Lots of love, Tanya x

Have a fabulous time Cat. You both deserve it - some time for just the two of you is just what us girlies need at times…though sproglet will be missed I am sure!

I will reply to your e-mail over the weekend.

Enjoy - have fun - relax - drink - eat BE HAPPY!

Tanya: Enjoy your party also. I haven’t taken 4-legs to the place you mentioned - never heard of it to be honest. Problem round so many places now is the amount of irresponsible people with staffies…so I tend to keep to more rural farmland where its quieter and better ‘smells’ for her hunting nose! It’d be great to meet up though, just give me a shout when you are around.

Soo - come on and spill the beans - we want to hear those stories - give us a smile!

Aaliyah and I are off for a bit of local shopping today - just around Upminster and Hornchurch. Fancy treating myself to some new make up. has anyone else found a change in their skin…mine seems to look older and a bit dull. Think I’ll get a nice new dewy foundation and a couple of new lippies…

You are Brilliant Cat!.. GO GIRLFRIEND! Have a wonderful time and your OH is the luckiest man alive!

Enjoy :o)

Lorna x

So far, Pheebs, my skin’s been OK. I dumped all my old moisturisers and stuff before I started chemo and invested in some organic lavender and aloa stuff. Have fun shopping, I could fancy joining you, could do with some nice make-up to perk myself up

Oh Cat, how lovely, I hope you have the most fabby time ever!

(Me and DH celebrate our 20th anniversary next weekend - we were intending to go to Salzburg for the weekend but can’t obviously, so are having 2 nights out - yes, count them, 2!! - one Friday night with the children at the local curryhouse, then the grown up version next Sat night at very posh hotel with friends - I’ve bought a new posh frock and now I have my new jellyfish hopefully I’ll look the part!)

Have fun Cat and report back Monday will ALL the details!!!

Bella xx

Cat that sounds fantastic. Have a great time. Seems we’re all at at, though. OH and I are having a dirty/romantic night away tonight at the pub in Buckinghamshire where Hugh Grant got off with Andie McDowell in Four Weddings. Had though I would be fine for this jaunt, but turns out it’s true what they say about the cumulative effect of kimo. Now 10 days on from 3rd FEC and all week I’ve this sleepy but rather irritable cow with a sore mouth and a sharp tongue. Feeling slightly more myself this morning so hope I can manage to eat dinner and feel a bit siexy. Also my eyelashes, which have been fine till now, are itchy and I’m sure they’ll fall into my gin and tonic tonight.

Have a lovely ‘wedding’ night. Wishes for a good weekend to all
Liz

Cat, you know I,m wishing you and James a fab time. You deserve it. Have fun!

Tanya, hope the party goes well and that you don,t get too tired.

Bella, wow 2 nights celebrations and why not eh?

Liz, You go girl! Enjoy the G&Ts with or without the lashes!

Pheebster, God I don,t know where to start. Lets just say that I came to Kas on a holiday about 15 years ago and fell in love with the place then in 99 moved here.
I,ve had 2 restaurants here, but had to give up my last one because of bc. I now try to make a living by managing peoples apartments and getting them ready for when they or their guests arrive for holidays. I also manage a cleaning business. Have fun today with important retail therapy - best kind there is!

Have a good week-end everyone whatever you,re doing.

Morning Gorgeous Girlies…

Just necked a massive brekki of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, beans and toast and feeling much brighter than yesterday. Day 2 after kimo is my worst and I am tearful, snappy and plain sha**ed out (in the lossest sense of the word!!!). I just hope the wbc shots dont wipe me out next week as I really need to get on with some crimbo stuff.

Dinner is all ready to sling in the oven later, Four Legs has been out with OH since about 8 this morning, so we are planning on a nice lazy day…but then in this house nothing ever goes to plan!!!

Hope the weekends were good Cat and Lizbou - give us all the gossip!

And Cazz…Hope you like the soup. It is really easy. Forgot to add to sling some salt and black pepper in too…but sure you will do that anyway.

Catch up tomorrow.

Hello everyone, just caught up on the messages, hope you are all having a good weekend. I’m dreading FEC 4 on Thursday, ewwww xx

Morning Girls,

Not been up long, hubby let me have a nice lay in which was bliss. Was feeling quite achy last night and my kimo arm is really painful today, feels a bit lumpy on inner forearm and hurts if I stretch it out. God I hate moaning!

Morning Cat and Lizbou!!

Hey Pheebs hope your lazy day goes to plan - you’ll probably end up with load of visitors or sorting out the spare room!! thats what normally happens if I plan for a nice quiet day

Hey Irina, put Thurs to back of your mind and have a few good days!! fingers crossed it wont be bad No 4 eh blimey bet you can’t believe it.

Have a good day ladies

caz xx

Cazzb, my arm is the same, can’t straighten my arm. Must be pretty common xx

Irina & Cazz…My FEC#1 killed my veins. The next two were done by a more experienced nurse who put through and extra bag of saline. Have to say this has helped enromously. perhaps it would be worth an ask. It only takes about another 20 mins to get it in, but worth the time.

Wishing you well

Hi all…

Hope everyone had a good weekend… especially those who had romantic getaways! Hope James was knocked over Cat!

I have the sore arm… tight muscle feeling… do feel I get rushed out of the party room.( not that I want to stay!) . and not much saline pushed through!.. I’m taking painkillers + wheat bag.

L

Hi everyone. Hope you had a fab ‘wedding’ night, Cat. We hear James was bowled over. OH and I had lovely romantic time - if foul weather - in Amersham. And my eyelashes are holding up so far! Lorna, Irina, Pheebster, I have the sore arm too - FEC2 did the worst damage. What with the other arm still not completely right after the mastectomy, I do feel a bit disabled at times.

Pheebster, I don’t think I have a date for starting rads, tho I have a planning appointment on 16 Jan. I have opted for the 9-11 slot, because I’ll hope to get to work afterwards on Tues Weds and Thurs, but it would be great to meet for coffee mid-morning if we can. Maybe I’ll even get to meet the dog! My other treatment is under Dr Sims at the Roding (Gants Hill).

I think, Lorna, that because I had a recon with an implant, they have to do the rads more gently over a longer period than otherwise - so I ge the fun of five weeks rather than 3 or 4.

Have a good week
Liz
