Lou, great that you’re back, was gonna pm you but bl***y system wouldn’t let me! As Jazq says, end of May should be better and hopefully warmer. Last chemo - you’re nearly there. We all missed you so v glad you’re back. Jacq, I DO know what you mean re: breathlessness when out walking. I had a chest appt today with lung func tests first and my results were good, so I was v surprises as still coughing for England! Got yet more antibs so see how they go. Gearing up for rads tomorrow, sloshing the aqueous cream everywhere. Hope everyone else is doing good, check in later, love and big hugs Pat x
PS Can now unpack rucksack as we were getting a search party down to WSM Lou!!! x
Hi girls, and welcome back Lou! Know what you mean about no 5…I just can’t get myself lifted at all. Will ask about alternative to domperidone as it is no b**** use at all…and as for smells-aaarrgghh!!
Also in sympathy with bowels (oh NO I hear you all say…here we go again!!) but mine also have completely seized up despite the rhubarb!! Semtex??
Nicky, I am having probs with LFTs as well and have to discuss it with GP tomorrow-must be just the effects of the chemo?
Hope you folks down south are having better weather than us…b**** freezing here, so no inclination to go out at all.
Allybally, hope you got your kitchen cleaned-these things are sent to try us!
Off to try and finish knitting the cardigan I started ages ago!
Hugz,
Lyn xx
Hi All, Well number 3 fec done today. Why can i never do anything straight forward??? Bloods all fine and chemo ready on time BUT they couldn’t get veins today for ages, when they did the chemo leaked all over my arm so emergency ensued, nurses running to get some liquid to put on my arm,ice pack applied and then i had to elevate arm and sit like that for half hour!!! They then had to re canulate lol.Have to say not feeling tooo bad at minute but don’t want to tempt fate!!!
Hope you all doing well good luck anyone who has appointments this week.
xxxxxxxxxx
Lou welcome back, we were starting to worry! Glad it was you computer that went bang not you!
Had a great laugh at the LGFB session today, got on last minute as someone else had canceled. Just so nice to be pampered and have a laugh with like minded women. And that bag of goodies is so worthwhile eh?
Allybally can I come and lick you kitchen for you?
Jacq, better get onto that Iplayer, I have treated myself to a few episodes of things I’ve missed by taking laptop to bed!
Pat, best of luck for the rads, hope the slathering of cream helps
Gill x
Evening
Gill I went to a LGFB session today too. Well worth it. We all got to know each other quite quickly as we got stuck in the lift on the way up to the seminar room. Not the ususal sort of ice breaker but it worked! Must say I like the goody bag. Have managed to get myself booked onto a manicure session aswell, although it will be in a few months time.
Lyn I was assured that the haywire LFT’s are due to the chemo. Logically I did know that but it was nice to have it confirmed.
Jacq and Pat so glad to hear that it’s not just me getting breathless. I mentioned it at chemo but was told it wasn’t a particular side effect. Not too bad on the flat but throw in a slight slope and I’ve had it. The walk to and from GP for pre chemo bloods today was a struggle whereas I didn’t notice there was a slope there before chemo.
Allybally what a nightmare for you. The cannula went in first time for me last week, just hoping that they can repeat that tomorrow. Not holding my breath.
Pat good luck with rads tomorrow.
Nicky x
Hi,
In June 06 had DCIS, had mastectomy (left breast) and no further treatment… Last month had a nasty surprise…a recurrence. It turned out to be grade 3 cancer so had wide exision and preventative mastectomy on the right. Going forward will have chemo (6*FEC), radio, herceptin and tamoxefan.
Starting chemo tomorrow and am petrified…this is my second attempt, tried TC last week and had an allergic reaction to it, very scarry experience.
Is there anyone on the web who is embarking on similar journey?
Would love to hear from you and good luck!
Kasia
Hi all
2nd dose of 2nd cycle of cmf today and cannula in 1st time again. however even nurse putting cannula in commented on how my fear of it is getting worse - and thats after taking temazepam. Chemo nurse said that mon appt with onc should have been rads consult and is amazed that I’m having to wait another 6 weeks. They normally try to get the planning appt done before the end of chemo so that you’re ready to go when chemo ends without any more hanging around. Guess my rads will be delayed a bit.
Jacq I’ve tried the hot ribena(sugar free) and liked it until I found it on special offer and bought 4 big bottles of it. I then of course promptly went off it. Since childhood hot ribena has always been a “comfort food” as we only had it when we were feeling poorly.
Hopefully I’ll develop a taste for it again after chemo. Might give the original a try and s** the weight gain.
Take care all
Nicky x
Hi Nicky66
Just read your posting about your cmf. I am also having cmf and had 2nd dose of 1st cycle yesterday. This one has really knocked me for 6 today. I didn’t sleep well last night so lounged in bed and watched TV (from 4.30) until 10. I got up and pottered for a bit but I went really shaky and extremely cold so ended up in bed again at 2-got up at 6.30. Don’t feel too bad and hubby is cooking a nice minted lamb shank and fresh veg. Might feel better when I have eaten. What side effects have you had? Perhaps you could share your experiences with me because it will help. Take care. Love Pauline (mommyw)
Hi all just thought i would wish you all a good bank holiday.I have my son’s 7th birthday party tomorrow followed by bbq tomorrow nite what a mare lol. anyway be good and check in soon xxx
Hi
Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday and that your sons birthday and BBq have gone well allybally. Pauline I have posted on your Burton thread and on a cmf thread you’ve been on. Hope you’re feeling better now. It seems to be hitting you harder than it is hitting me. I felt rough on Thurs but just a bit tired now. Take care of yourself and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
Nicky x
Hi Kasia
Hope your chemo went ok. Thinkin of you.
Ange xx
Hi all, hope everyone’s ok and enjoying the bank holiday - here in London it’s a bit chilly and wet on and off. I’ve had 3 rads so far - 12 to go and it’s not too bad. On each session I’ve had x-rays taken first so the sessions have taken a bit longer, but on Friday I was still in and out in 15 mins which is great. Boob is a little pink and has swelled up a bit, apart from that it’s fine. Slathering on loads of aqueous cream so fingers crossed skin tolerates it well. Jacq, do you still have aches and pains? The tops of my legs particularly feel like I’ve been carrying ton weights! Hair is growing, very slowly but I can just make out my hairline now so pleased about that. All the best to the ladies just embarking on their chemo journeys, it’ll be fine and you’ll soon get to the end of it. I thought I’d be buzzing when I finished but, to be honest I think I was just relieved. I think the body gets so tired that excitement about anything goes out the window! I’m very excited that my taste is back though… Take care all, and keep posting and lestting us know how you’re doing. love and hugs Pat x
Hi ladies, and hope you have had a good May day?
Had been feeling a bit down last week but had a good day today so hope that is it until next week!
Nicky, Doc agreed LFTs were probs due to chemo and not too concerned, and like you I have to wait 4-5 weeks post chemo for rads to start, which is a real b****r as we have booked a short break in Prague end of July and could be tight now for treatment to be finished. Had hoped it would be all over before daughter’s graduation but unlikely!
Girls, RIBENA…aaarrghh…looks too much like epirubicin and makes me want to heave!!!
Also feeling the uphill breathless thing and thought it was asthma playing up but maybe not?
Our little town always has a Mayday thing on and today had a continental market, so home with garlic, cheese, olives, sundried tomatoes, and lovely bread so just been tucking into that with a wine, and will probs suffer for it tonight but what the hell…you need some normality!!
Anyway best of luck to those just starting treatment…it does pass.
Love and hugz,
Lyn xx
Hi Ladies,Well i survived the birthday party and bbq never did i expect 22 people for a bbq, and yes i have to admit it showed that i was having treatment by 10 o’clock i could not stop yawning and decided that it was best i went to bed.(what a light weight)never even had a glass of wine teehee!!!
I have spent today getting the house back to some sort of normality but my mouth and tongue feels so sore but just keep drinking plenty as it seems to help.
Hope you all are feeling well and that those on rads are well lubricated!!! lol I am bad.
Take care and chat soon xx
Hi all, just checking in to see how everyone’s doing. Rads going well, morning appts def better - in and out in less than 20 mins. Friday appt is 6.50pm! Goodness knows what time I’ll get out. Still very achey, especially legs, walked up 4 flights of stairs this morning and struggled. Maybe I’m just so out of shape… Would help if I could lose a few pounds too I spose! Ally - 22 people! Blimey, I can just about manage 4 these days. Lyn, glad you’re feeling bit more ‘up’ I always think a bit of warm weather helps too. That food from the market made my mouth water, well and the wine! Hope you enjoyed it. All the best to everyone else, Lyn’s right all the nasty stuff will pass and you’ll come out the other side. love and hugs Pat x
Hi All
Lynn - I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to look at ribena again! I’d never made the connection to epirubicin before but it’s all I’ll be able to think of now.
I went into work yesterday and had all of the “don’t you look well” comments, enough that several people asked if I was starting back soon. Had to tell them that I still have 9 weeks of chemo and then rads before that happens. They couldn’t beleive that I was still on chemo as my hair is really starting to sprout.
Having a full week at the caravan as I don’t even have to go for a blood test this week, and then my dad gets a hospital appt for tomorrow and guess who is his transport? At least it’s early and shouldn’t take long.
Hope everyone is ok.
Nicky x
Hi Nicky, Pat, ally and all,
Would definitely agree that the better weather helps to cheer me up!
Well I did it at last-finished my cardigan tonight complete with frill which just about drove me round the bend! All pinned out ready to try tomorrow-knowing my luck it won’t fit or will look like a granny garment!
Have been into work one and half days this week-inservice Tuesday and into one of my schools today-was really anxious about it but needn’t have been as everyone was so glad to see me. Did my confidence the world of good.
All SE abated for the moment so enjoying the respite for the next week. Only thing keeping me going for the next one is it is the last…woohoo!!
Eldest daughter coming home at the weekend until she gets a job-not much on the horizon there I am afraid-such a shame when they have worked so hard for 4 years! On the plus side I will have company and as she wants to lose some weight I am hoping she will motivate me to get off my backside and do something!! Pat, like you I have put on so much I am rapidly running out of clothes and I refuse to buy any bigger sizes!!
Anyway off to bed and hope for some sleep,
night ladies,
hugz,
Lyn xx
Hello luscious ladies! Get that Ribena down you - it’s an anti-oxidant! Yeah, I know, stable door … horse bolted … too late - and all that!
Yep Pat, legs and feet still aching badly - after a dozen steps, I feel like I’ve walked the marathon. Ache more now I’ve finished chemo, than during it!
Off to hospital tomorrow to get - hopefully - a soonish date for when I have to go in to have all the nodes removed.
Am just about to go and dig my passport out, 'cos with no eyelashes, make-up or hair, Minty and Phil have got more chance of getting admitted to the women’s ward than me! So I think I need to show some sort of proof that I was originally born a female!
Honestly, I look like I’ve just escaped from Broadmoor!
Anyway, glad to hear that you’re all doing well with all your treatments, especially that the rads are so much easier to contend with - got that delight in about 5 weeks time.
Love to you all. x Jacq x (Been off-line for nearly a week with this bloody new broadband, they obviously don’t want us to talk talk!)
Jacq, you’re back! Good to hear from you. I did chuckle about minty and phil, I look like a baby baboon at the mo - 1/2 inch of hair standing on end like I’ve put my finger in a live socket! Gives lots of laughs to my nearest and dearests so that’s alright. Hope all goes well at hosp, yep rads is better than chemo - so far. A tip, vests and sports bras are much better when having the rads - cotton if poss. It’s so much more comfy coz altho area doesn’t feel sore, when you put something up tight against it like a normal fitting bra, it’s very uncomfortable. Anyhow hi to everyone else, how you all doing? And where’s the blooming sun gone… love and huge hugs Pat x
Arftnoon ladies! I’m back - again!! computer says no!!!
Have been without the technology again for what seems like ages, hopefuly now all sorted?? trying to type really quickly in case it goes pop again! excuse any typo’s!
Anyway, hope everyones doing ok? I had my last chemo yesterday!!!
YIPPEEEEEEE! now seem to have more appts than ever for the next bit - Herceptin and the nurse said yesterday there should be no reason for me not to be referred to the hospital for reconstruction! O M G, boobs AND some hair, what shall i do??? The eyelashes are returning looking less like theyve been chewed by ferrets and the small amount of hair now looks like velcro! lol!!!
a shadow of my former self, BUT have now been hat free for a week, decided this is who I am for now, and i dare anyone to smirk/ laugh/ or ask - what did you do to your head??? Oh yes, had that one! just show them the whites of my eyes that should see them off!
well, it’s great to be back, hope things are ok -ish for all???
will be back again later, Big hugz, LoulouXX
P.S; thanks for all missing me, no need to send a search party now!! xx
