Thanks for all your good wishes with my impending op. Stay the night Pat? - been told to expect a week’s worth of night stays!
Not had a good day today, youngest daughter (22) went to the docs today with a painful lump in her breast. They’ve told her it’s a 6cms solid lump and have referred her to our local hospital’s breast clinic for tests - and said that it shouldn’t be hard like it is. Then he asked her if there was any breast cancer in the family…!
She has to go on the 2nd June, day after my op., so I can’t even go with her.
Please, I can’t take much more of this, feel like I’m going mad.
Hi jacqnotyetinthebox
It sounds like you’re having a pretty tough time at the moment, it might help just to talk to someone about how you are feeling. Please give the help line a call as here you can share your worries and concerns with one of our trained members of staff who will offer you a ‘listening ear’ as well as support and information.
The number to call is 0808 800 6000 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Friday 9am to 2pm.
I hope you find this helpful.
Kind regards
Sam (BCC Facilitator)
Jacq, What a s**t day. When is your daughter being seen? A few mths ago my daughter was referred to breast clinic with painful and swollen breast, slightly lumpy area. I felt sick to my stomach. She had an ultrasound and it was nothing, sent away and advised to take evening primrose oil. Nurse told her that younger women tend to have painful, even lumpy breasts, especially around cycle. I pray that this is the case with your daughter. If you need to talk, pm me and I’ll give you my number. love and a big hug Pat x
Thanks Sam and Pat. I might just do that. Hopefully I’l be a bit more upbeat about stuff tomorrow. Just one of those days! x Jacq x
Oh Jacqui, my heart goes out to you. As if you didn’t have enough to cope with-here’s hoping it is just one of those premenstrual things.
Pat, I have just started getting back into a little work but it has been the right thing as it means getting out and meeting folk gradually that I haven’t seen for months, rather than all at once in August when I go back full time. And moneywise it is a relief, though I will wait and see at the end of the month whether personnel and finance have actually got it right!
Not looking forward to starting tamoxifen-between sweats, weight gain (more!!) and mood swings, I think I might be told to move out! Don’t think oh will cope!
Nicky, it was a huge relief to walk out of that ward for the last time, and you are not far off it either! At one point 2 months ago I doubted I would ever get through it but somehow you do, and this thread has certainly helped, so thank you all, ladies!
Gill you have had a rotten time-hope things go better now-I have managed to get through without any infections and just need to clear the next 2 weeks, so fingers crossed.
Still in sleepless mode but last steroid tomorrow so hopefully things might settle down again, and also I might feel less like a michelin man, as I feel soooo bloated-spoke to doc today and she thinks discolouration isn’t anything to be concerned about but will see me again next week, and when I mentioned weight gain, her response was that people who put on weight on chemo generally fair better than those who lose, because you are well enough to be eating well!! Have to take some comfort from that I suppose?
Anyway off to get some shut eye as I have a cricket festival all day tomorrow that all my schools are coming to, so some sunshine wouldn’t go amiss!
Hugz to all, and especially to you Jacqui,
Lyn xx
Good Morning all you lovely people and thankyou so much for such a warm welcome.
Pat,I think I was put on Arimidex due to my age 52,now told I cannot change to another as this is safer for me since I developed the damned neck thrombosis.
Jacqui I really hope that all goes well for you and your daughter how much more can life throw. Will be thinking of you.
Elsie well you are like me up at all times throughout the night thank goodness for the chit chat thread.
I started this yesterday then battery went so posting today
Will be in touch very soon if thats ok
Take Care

Thankyou all you lovely friends on here. Reading back, I did sound like a bit of drama queen last night, sounded as if I was about to commit hari-kari! Better today, I’m sure she’ll be fine. Us lot all have our crosses to bear - aint that the truth?! xx Jacq xx
Jacqu
you don’t sound like a drama queen at all! What cr*p timing for all your family, I’m sure you won’t settle til your daughter is seen and knows what is going on, hang on in there. ( just wondering who you pi**ed off in a former life!)Don’t feel you have to hold back here, seems like a great place to off load!
Fingers and other parts crossed for her!
Oh and minor celebration in Brighton, I think my legs may need a shave in the next couple of days!
best wishes Jacqu. Gill x
hi Jacq - odn’t you worry about sounding off etc thats what we’re here for - for you! Really feel for you and daughter…nicky - I’ve just come home from rsh onc ward - neutropenic sepsis, had the gcsf in tummy and iv a/biotics but 3 course meals and peace n quiet!! Glad to be home though - that first tax really floored me,hope you’re doing ok…hi everybody else too!! mary x
Hi Jacqui - don’t know what to say as it is pointless to say don’t worry. However don’t worry about sounding like a drama queen because that you are definitely not. One thing is that if the lump is painful it is less likely to be anything ominous.
Mary, hope that you’re feeling better. Thought that you’d been a bit quiet lately. Thankfully I’ve never seen the inside of a ward at rsh and I plan on keeping it that way! Start cycle 7 tomorrow and only one more after that. When is your next tax? Shall we try to put back the next meet by a week? Hope your son is ok.
Hope everyone else is ok.
Nicky x
Hi ladies,
Just a quick post at a normal time of the day, to say hope everyone feeling well today? After a day out in the fresh air with 150 kids yesterday I was in bed by 8pm and slept til 7.30…amazing!
Still shattered today but enjoyed the experience-Might not be some folks idea of a good time, but it brought back some normality for me!
Asked by one pupil why I had dyed my hair??? First time in 30 years I haven’t dyed it but how do you explain-just laughed!!
Now looking forward to getting a bit more contact after the next 2 weeks are past, which will make it easier going back in August. Prolonged absence really hits your self confidence.
And if the forecasts are right we are going to get a good summer-woohoo!!
Take care all,
hugz,
Lyn xx
Lyn, good to hear that youhad agood day yesterday followed by a good night sleep.
Went for chemo today only to find out that the unit closes on friday due to staff shortages. Will have to go to another unit about 15 miles further away. To cap it all my next appt is due next Weds but they had no appts availableso it’s been put off til Frday which means the next 2 doses will also have to be Fridays. Won’t fit inwell with weekends at the caravan. On top of that I went really light headed during chemo today so don’t feel safe driving myself anymore. My sister will take me but feel feel guilty about asking her to take me so far. The good news though wass that I spoke to the chemo nurse more about rads and she says that even thouggh my rads consent has been put back it is localprotocol that rads start 3 weeks after chemo finishes and so radiotherapy dept will just have to speed up the planning etc. That made me feel a bit better.
Hope all well with evryone else.
Nicky x
Elsie, you must have felt wonderful following a good night my nights have been so bad since chemo will it ever get back to normal !!!
or will I ever feel normal again.
Lyn,what a day you had,my Rads started 3 weeks following chemo they were spot on so sure yours will be too.
What a day I had yesterday my husband decided he would hang 3 doors something he has never done before ! all went well apart from a few choice words at times the only thing I didnt expect was I was required to help ALL DAY some men eh!!
Hope you all have a good day Im off to attempt to fit or help should I say some locks and handles joint pains permitting.
Take care all

Hi ladies!
Jackie you can count yourself lucky your OH is around all day-mine has not one but TWO rounds of golf scheduled for tomorrow! And one daughter working and the other off on a day out with new boyfriend, so looks as though I am on my own, so hopefully it will be a nice day and I might just treat myself to a lazy day in the sun with my book!
So much for good night’s sleep the other night-back to normal since! SE from last chemo have kicked in nicely the last few days-sore mouth, throat, ear as well as quesy and indigestion, so been feeling pretty c**p the last two days, and absolutely no energy-everything so much effort and leaves me quite breathless, so hoping that will pass soon!
Nicky, I was told the same that they generally leave you 3 weeks to get over the last treatment before referral to radiology. I have my review app with cons onc next Friday and hopefully app with cons rad fairly soon after that, so hopefully starting rads by mid June.
Hope all you other ladies keeping well and that you are having a nice weekend? We had all the seasons in one day yesterday-sunshine, rain and hailstones-at one point our back yard was white!
Take care and hugz to all,
Lyn xx
Hi Elsie,

Take care and love to you all
Jackiexxx
Thanks Jackie!
As you can see-still sleepless!! However, rest of symptoms settling down so hopefully turned the corner?
Weather mixed up here but at least it stayed dry today…not warm enough to sit out but I did venture out for short walk.
What has happened to everyone else on this thread? All away for the bank holiday? Which we don’t get up here in Scotland! Just a normal day for us today!
Ah well, that’s the birds started so I had better go try and get some sleep.
love to all,
Lyn xx
Hi Lyn
I hope you did get some sleep eventually,it was 5am for me today so not too bad my problem started all throughout chemo and I just cannot get back to a normal sleep pattern.
I have never been to Scotland but hear it is beautiful,I live in Devon quite a few miles from you!
I was also wondering where everyone had gone, hopefully enjoying the good weather and will be back soon.
Well another cup of tea then get dressed I suppose.
Take care and love to all

Good morning ladies! Slightly more respectable time today! I think you folks down south were better off than us…rain for the last 2 days and still raining now-my very wet cat has just come in and rubbed himself against my legs…uuurrghh!
Good luck on Thursday Mary, and next week Ange-you are right you just have to keep going. Thought there was some rubbish on BGT last night, and Piers is right, Susan Boyle has got competition! The 2 dance groups are absolutely amazing!
Anyway, better get back to bed for a snooze before everyone starts getting up as I will have no hope then!
hugz,
Lyn xx
