Hi all
Guilty as charged about being too busy enjoying the good weather.
Sat out with friends in the sun on sunday. Everyone was on at me to be careful not to burn and in the end I think that I was the only one not to! Since then the weather has been a bit mixed so no chance to sit out. We managed to have an extra day away as no blood test today due to my chemo being put back a few days. Only 1 more cycle to go after Friday - can’t quite believe it. Friends are starting to talk about an “end of treatment” party and if rads go to plan next bank holiday looks like a good time for it. Dare I plan that far ahead?
Glad to know that you’re sleeping a bit better Jackie and Lyn. We’re going to be at the caravan again when I go for chemo so I’ll be having some sleepless nights there. Think I’ll end up sleeping in the awning, especially the night I have to set the alarm for 2-3am to take tablets! I won’t be popular otherwise.
Take care all.
Nicky x
Hi Nicky,
Glad you got to enjoy the sunshine. I say you should def plan the party for August Bank Hol - def worth a celebration. Once chemo’s over, rads go quite quick I found. 6 days after last session and alls well, just bit sore and itchy. And yeh, where’s the sun gone!
Hi to everyone else, ove and hugs Pat x

Hi all!
Nice to see everyone back and hopefully refreshed after your holiday, but where has Jacqui got to?
I am back to the 3am shift tonight despite going for a walk this evening, and the b****y birds have just started again!
Nicky your treatment is wearing to an end so go for that party! My oh is taking me off to Prague for a few days at the end of July, though it will be touch and go if rads are finished so am going to push to get going at my review on Friday.
Beginning to feel better every day and more so as I don’t have the prospect af any more chemo hanging over me! Slight upset stomach but bearable.
Ange, so nice to be getting your dad home-hope you all cope ok.
Pat, can’t believe you have finished rads-seems no time since you started. What happens now?
Anyway, before birds get more vocal, better get back to bed and try and sleep!
Love to all,
Lyn xx
Hi everyone,
Hope everything goes well today for you and your dad Ange and you are feeling brighter you are bound to feel emotional at times you are going through so much I was the same throughout treatment and I still am,go for that party you and Nicky you both deserve it!!
Pat its such a nice feeling coming towards the end of Rads I was lucky and only had a daily 20 mile round trip and appts were always on time only prob I had was the soreness under breast but the dept were helpful and supplied me with everything I needed once rads were over it all cleared up very quickly.
Well its raining here so wont need to water my new plants I potted yesterday so will take my poor old joints and go and see my poor old mum who is unwell and do a bit of housework for her.
Have a good day everyone
Take Care and will be back tomorrow
Love to all

Hi Lyn, and all. Am still here - loitering with intent - quite what my intention is I’m not sure.
Spent best part of yesterday at hospital yesterday getting all my pre-op tests done. Got to be in at 7am on Monday! I still got told to expect 7-10 days in there, seems a long time. Mind you if my drainage problems play up like they did with mastectomy last year, I guess I should expect it.
I know how you feel about those sodding birds Lyn, there’s one particular creature that starts just as I go for shut-eye. If I could get hold of it, I would wring it’s bloody neck.
In fact I’m in one of those moods where I could wring anything’s bloody neck one moment, and cry the next. These mood swings drive me nuts.
Yesterday, the surgeon asked me if I was worried about impending op., when I said no - just the results of all the scans afterwards - he said ‘most people are worried’. So I said ‘well, why ask them then?’
Note to self: Must not piss surgeons off before surgery.
Have a nice rainy day everybody! Love Jacq.
Morning all,
Well its just getting light and yes the birds are singing sweetly!!
Jacq you go girl and free those feelings, it helped me to have a go at my poor OH although I said some terrible things at the time I was forever saying sorry to him when my mood calmed.it happened every month on the CMF.
I have my 3 mthly check up tomorrow so going to try and sort out this pain in my muscles/joints she will think Im mad when I tell her my hands feel like bunches of bananas each morning!!plus the backache Iv had for the last 5 weeks bit paranoid maybe but need to ask for my own sake.
Good luck everyone having treatment today and u all have a nice day if poss.
Love and hugs
Jackie xx
Hi everyone,
Hope you are all ok,its gone very quiet here!!
I had my check up yesterday and was assured the Arimidex is causing most of the problems with my aches and pains although some blood was taken and a bone scan to be booked.
Looks like another nice weekend coming maybe that might cheer me up!!
Love to you all
Take care
Jackie xx
Hi all, is this lovely sunshine keeping everyone busy? Hope you’re enjoying it. Jacq, big hugs and loads of luck for op (def MUST NOT p**s off surgeons!) and for your daughter’s appt on Tuesday. I’m sure everything will be fine, lie back and enjoy the rest - well, depending on which hosp you’re in, and who your ‘neighbours’ are that may or may not be possible! It’ll soon be over and you’ll be back home, entertaining us on here I hope!!
Lou, where are you or is pc playing up? And Nicky, Lyn and all, hope you’re all okay.
My skin after rads, under arm and under boob in crease has broken so am having to use dressings, very sore and itchy all at once! Strange sensation, just hope it heals soon. Ladies, don’t forget to slap on the Factor 50 and protect your skin. This is probably our summer …
lots of love and hugs, especially to Jacq, Pat x
Ange, hope your Dad is okay now he’s out of hospital. Jackie, Sure bone scan will be fine, I still feel really achey from the TAX and I’m told the hormone treatment can cause it too. Hope your mum’s feeling better. Mary hope weather is good for you, you’re nearlt there with seeing the back of chemo - it’s a good feeling.
Take care all, love and hugs Pat x
Hi all and hope evryone is enjoying the weather.
Went for chemo at the other unit yesterday and do not like it . Extra chaairs squeezed in and just like a production line. Guess I was spoiled at the smaller unit. took 3 attempts to get the cannula in and I have a huge bruise where the successful spot was. Never had abruse before no matter how many attempts it has taken. Not only that bled all over a brand new skirt, chair and floor. Didn’t have enough pillows to give me one for under my arm( although they went and fetched one from somewhere else for someone who came after me) and was shown someone elses blood results. Really not impressed. On top of that they couldn’t find some of my tablets and so I had to call in at my original hospital on my way home to collect some more.
Apparently a lot of patients are writing to our local MP about it as the closure of the smaller unit may be permanent from gossip I heard yesterday so I think I will write too. Doesn’t make too much difference to me but it does for a lot of other people.
Pat, have definitely been slapping the sun screen on. I burn easily even without the chemo. Sorry about your skin - sounds nasty.
Jackie glad your check up went relatively well. Will be reassuring to have the results of the bone scan.
Lyn you haven’t been on in the dead of night for a few days so I hope that you’re sleeping a bit better.
Jacq, good luck for Mon and my thoughts will be with your daughter on Tues.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Nicky x
Aaah, thank you so much for those good wishes - Pat and Nicky - for myself and my daughter (I’ve had to put all scary thoughts of her on hold for the time being otherwise would have gone mad - head in sand stuff).
Skin sounds very sore Pat. Hope it eases up for you soon, I really do. I’m bound to get the same when I get round to rads in about 6 wks time, after all I haven’t missed out on anything nasty to date! And I am very sensitive!!! I know what you mean about the achey joints, even when I’m sitting my feet ache like I’ve done a marathon.
Nicky, how annoying can these hospitals be? I’ll repeat what I’ve said before on this subject - they need to have just one person overseeing everything. Not somebody with a degree, just a person with ordinary common sense
Anyway, I’m off to iron my PJ’s (you have to when they’re gonna be on show don’t you?), and fill up a big bag with make-up. 'Cos as soon as I come round from op., I’ll be chucking on the eyes and wig, so that I don’t look like Minty for any longer than necessary!
Love to all, x Jacq x
Hi everyone
Me dad had been out two days and is now back in coz his nose started again bleeding. He phoned at 1 15am and I got back in bed at 4 30am. Booked a hol today tenerife for sept hopeful all will be sorted by then.Pat hope your skin sorts out sounds very sore.I used to use sudocrem at times. I will be thinking of you Jac on Mon and Tues . I think your right not to piss off your surgeon!!.Must of been awful avin 3 attempts Nicky I had 2 once and I didnt like it.On a brighter note weather has been lovely today sat out for a while. Is your hair growing back quickly Pat ? Mine has started but its really grey I m wondering when I will be able to colour it. Next steroids Monday for chemo on tues if bloods are ok then one more after that makes it 4 ec and 6 tax roll on. Really enjoyed BGT on tele tonight !
Love to all Ange xx
Thanks for your good wishes Ange. Hope your Dad is soon ok, you’ve both had enough to cope with losing your mum, let alone anything else between the two of you.
Yes, Britain’s Got Talent was brilliant. I was so so pleased that Diversity won, they were phenomenal, that buzzer sketch was an excellent brainwave. Loved the saxophonist too. That Susan Boyle woman is really creepy, very strange.
Sorry, Ange, but I think we have to wait 6 months to colour our frazzled locks! (Pat normally knows these things!)
Babysat my granddaughter tonight, blimey she played me up - knackered!
Love to all, x Jacq x
Good morning ladies!
Had a couple of nights taking sleeping tablets as I was so knackered
but back to keeping the birds company…and catching up with a zillion emails!!
Also catching up with what’s happening here!
Can I just echo everyone else Jacqui and wish you all the best fo Monday and for your daughter too-you are long overdue a break!
I had my onc review on Friday-all fine-and came home to app for radx for 11th June, so no hanging about, which I am quite pleased about. Also got my presc for starting Tamoxifen but putting off starting til my 3 weeks post chemo is up on Wednesday as still feeling a bit yucky occasionally though getting better.
Sorry about your poor dad Ange-hope he picks up soon.
Nicky, what a horrible experience to have-it never ceases to amaze me the different standards you hear about htrough different parts of the NHS-makes me very appreciative of NHS Grampian-think we ahve a very good service up here.
Pat hope your skin heals soon-have you noticed an increase in tiredness with radx? I keep getting warned about that.
Jackie-hope your aches and pains improve too-see you have been on the early morning shift as well?!
Anyway better at least try and get some sleep-looks like being another nice day here.
And I liked Julian, the sax player too though Diversity were excellent! Going to miss BGT-had got quite hooked on it! What’s next to keep me glued to the screen??
Hugz to all,
Lyn xx
Good morning everyone,
Jacqui I wish you all the best for yourself and your daughter you will be fine and back here sooner than you think Love to you both.
Hi Lyn I am so pleased all went well last fri I also waited 3 weeks before I started arimidex the rads will hopefully fly by once you get started I felt fine and had no noticeable tiredness suppose I just felt relieved chemo was over as I had so many problems with that!!
Pat I too broke down under breast it was quite nasty but the hosp gave me some fantastic gel and this nice soft lubricated sponge like dressing it stopped the skin sticking all healed up so quickly once rads were over. Thanks for asking about my mum she is unwell stage 4 renal failure and lupus, she is my life.
Ange hope you are coping ok and dad will be home soon.Well done for booking that hol you really deserve it!
Nicky what an awful time you had I had a hickman line in so not too many needles although had problems with that at times my chemo unit was so busy all of the time just as you described was like a production line although all staff were great and very supportive.
Looks like another hot day so I hope you can all rest and enjoy it.
Thank you for being here you are all a great help and support.
Love to everyone Take Care
Jackie xxxx
Hi ladies, what about this weather, it’s gorgeous and hope it lasts. Hair dye, well all the literature says you can’t dye hair for at least 6 mths but, on some other threads here people have used organic dyes and been fine. My sister-in-law had chemo and rads for lung cancer 2 yrs ago and she dyed her hair within the 6 mths and it didn’t take so I guess it’s trial and error. I’m just so happy that hair is coming back! Quite dark now but not enough to go out wigless, eyebrows coming back with a vengeance, I could give Susan Boyle a run for her money! Have just a few bottom eyellashes and even less top ones, shaved legs for first time yesterday although could have gone without but no hairs in nose yet. I’m sure it’ll all go back to ‘normal’ in it’s own sweet time. I agree she’s a bit strange, but a lovely voice. Diversity were awesome, so glad they won.
Ange, do hope your dad’s okay, take care of yourself, too.
Jackie, the skin in the crease under boob is gone, so all is raw and a bit gungy. So letting air get to it before dressing goes on. Picture if you will - no laughing Jacq! - I’m sat topless at dest typing with large fan directed at boob. Not a pretty sight I can tell you and have warned all in the house to keep out!
Lyn, tiredness hasn’t been a huge issue, more a feeling of being quite down to be honest. Anxiety is creeping back in as I’m hoping to go back to work in a couple of weeks and wonder if I’ll cope ok. Seeing occy health on 11th so if they agree to me going back, hope it’ll just be for a couple of hours at first.
Nicky, ouch!! sounds painful, hope bruise isn’t too painful, aloe vera is good but not on the broken skin bit.
Well, hope everyone else is okay, big hugs Jacq, will be thinking of you and your daughter. Enjoy the sun, lobe and big hugs, Pat x
PS Lou, you gone camping again? x
Lol, sorry Pat, but a little giggle did emerge … and then turned into a big one!!!
Well I’m just about packed and ready to go - nearly as bad as packing for hols.! Tell me why I had to change the bed?, only did it the other day!
Even had to cut the grass - well, tried, damn blades hit a brick and flew off into the sunset. Shame, didn’t want to do it anyway, always gives me green soles of my feet, and didn’t want surgeon thinking I had gangrene and getting rid of something he shouldn’t!
Thank you so much all you lovelies, your good wishes for me - and especially my ‘littl’un’ - have kept my chin up these last couple of weeks. You’re all really kind and nice, tut - gonna lose it again.
Right I’m off, loads of love, x Jacq x
Evening ladies
Hope everyone has made good time of the weather. A word of warning - I had factor 30 on and sat in the shade for an hour or 2 on sat and still managed to turn a bit pink. Thankfully didn’t burn but skin was definitely more sensititve than normal.
Had a lovely meet with local ladies yestersay. Was good to see everyone.
Hope the fan is helping your skin Pat. A friends mum told me she used to sit completely topless in the evening at the end of her rads. Brings up quite a picture of someone who’s been a mum figure to me since I was 11!
Have been thinking of Jacq today. Hope your Mum is hanging in there Jackie.
Hope your Dad is improving Ange.
Take care everyone and enjoy the sunshine safely.
Nicky x
