Good morning ladies!
Another lovely day outside and the birds are twittering loudly-I am sure that is what is waking me up!!
Feeling so much better apart from the sleeping problem-how long does that take to sort out?? Not too concerned just now but once I am back into work properly it will be an issue,as I can sleep late just now but normally up for 6.45 when working!
Jackie and Pat, that is encouraging that you weren’t too bothered by tiredness on rads-I am trying to walk a bit more just now to help with fitness levels to see if that will help when it comes. Jackie sorry about your mum-that must be hard on top of your own probs?
Pat I too had a little smile at the image of you sitting topless at your desk!!
Nicky, I too noticed a sensitivity in my skin when I sat out despite putting factor 25 on and was only out for short while then moved under parasol…and I usually love being in the sun, so looks as though I will have to be pale and interesting this summer??? Anyone tried the body lotions with a hint of tan in them since they started treatment? That might be an option?
Ange-good luck with chemo this week and hope all goes ok for your dad.
Well I have my first sports day on Friday with 140 kids so hopefully weather will hold, and first time since October that I will work a full day, so could be in bed early on Friday night!
Better go try and get some sleep, or it won’t be worth going back to bed!
Take care all,
LOL,
Lyn xx

HARRO! I’m home. Hope you and yours are all ok. Got back at lunchtime, dragging my drain behind me!

Daughter went to her appointment yesterday, and assured me before she went that the lump had got a lot smaller, so hopefully she was telling me the truth. But they’re sending her for an ultrasound anyway, which is a good thing. So carrying on crossing fingers for a bit longer.

Had all nodes removed on Monday at 2pm and they said I could go home the next morning! Not quite the 7-10 days I was told. Anyway wanted to get home asap of course, but decided to stay 'til today - just to be on the safe side.

They said it was a very difficult operation 'cos the back muscle that had been pulled round under arm to reconstruct boob during mastectomy last year was in the way.

Anyway, I’m here to tell the tale … still. Falling asleep now, so have to go to bed in a mo., but I do have a few funny tales to tell you from even just 2 days in there. So I’ll be back on tomorrow.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts and wishes, love and hugs, Jacq.

Jacq, so glad you’re home and alright. Will keep fingers crossed for your daughter also. Can’t wait to hear your tails, I hope you were gentle and played nicely!.. Go and have a good sleep and take care, hugs Pat x

Jacq, glad to hear you’re home and can’t wait to hear your stories.
Lyn, I know what you mean about the birds. At the caravan we have a male pheasant who starts strutting his stuff at about 4.30am and so our collie then thinks that is time we all get up and start the day. Just get her settled and the woodpecker starts at 5.30am. We’ve started to give up trying to get the dog back to bed after that. Anyone want to borrow a young energetic insistent collie for a few months? Watching her in the garden now chasing flys. Wish I had a fraction of her energy.
Ally I’m exhausted just reading your plans! The only thing I have on the close horizon is a course I booked in Bath before I had my Dx. Was supposed to do the 1st bit in March but had to cancel so will start in Sept. Will take the caravan there and extend the time a bit to try to make it a holiday before returning to work. Also have a cruise booked for January but as of yet have no travel insurance. Booked the holiday April last year and they wouldn’t issue travel insurance that far in advance(wisely as it turns out!) Where are you getting your insurance from?
Going to take advantage of the good weather we have here which wasn’t forecast. Take care all.

Hi ladies,
Just a quickie before bedtime. Hope you’re all ok - Jacq, hope you are resting up and doing as you’re told! My raw skin is raw no more - magic dressings have done there work. My skin is really peeling bigtime now, under my arm and on the collarbone the skin is bright pinkm under the boob is the same. Everytime I take off my bra lots of skin falls out - charming! I thought my whole nipple was gonna shed but it was just the complet top layer - strange.
Did anyone watch BB? Have to own up to being a fan, it doesn’t take long for me to be hooked either. My OH despairs…
Well, all the best everyone, Ange is your dad ok now? and Ally, those trips sound great. Enjoy the weekend, hope weather behaves itself- Nicky I’ve been using Factor 50, just in case! Lyn hope sports day goes well, good luck with 140 kids… love and hugs Pat x
PS Lou, where r u? x

Pat, I love Big Brother too - saddo that I am! Hated that Iranian bloke, what a knob!

Only yanked drain out once yesterday and once today - why can’t somebody with half a brain invent something to carry the sodding bottle around in that’s one stage better than the plastic carrier bag they sent me home with? It certainly wasn’t a Bag for Life.

Last year they had little canvas shoulder bags, but now we’re not allowed those any more because of … you guessed it … Health and Safety. Give me strength.

Night bless, x Jacq x.

P.S. I never do as I’m told - it’s more fun that way!

Hi ladies and Jaqui so glad you are home and in good spirits! I sympathise with the drain thing- had 2 drains-one from each groin after the last cancer-try taking a shower with those and a catheter??
They are necessary to reduce the risk of lymphoedema, so persevere!
Well sleepless again, just when I wanted a good night’s sleep before sports day, but with the weathe forecast, it may not happen…watch this space!
Pat, glad your skin is improving-lash on the cream!
Nicky, fairly certain it is blackbirds that we have here, and they are nesting close to the house because they go frantic whenever our two cats are on the go!
Not sure about this BB lot…might provide some entertainment now when I am not sleeping-in fact it might send me to sleep???
On that note I am off to try and get some shuteye as I have to get up at 6.45! AARRGGHH!
hugz,
Lyn xxx

Hi everyone

Had my fifth tax on tuesday, it takes two or three goes to get bloods out of vein think its conked now, its done well up to now so i can,t moan. Looked after my two grandchildren yesterday as my son Chris and Nat went to a wedding, 11am to 5pm,then went to bed in a deep sleep weather was rubbish so its hard to occupy them inside, I think 3rd and 4th day of tax your energy dives straight down, oh well one more to go then see onc.My taste has gone but I think not as bad as in beginning maybe I ve got used to it. My dads nose is holding out and hasent bled for a few days cross fingers!Im lookin forward to next weekend in caravan.Jacqui hope you are feelin better with drains etc.Lyn hope your sports day wasnt too draining and lots of fun.Really pleased to hear about your skin Pat I too have been watching bb few odd people in there!! Jackie hope you are ok.
loads of love
Ange xxxx

Hi ladies, hope you’re all well, Lyn did you survive the 140 kids on sports day?! Jacq, hope you’re now drain-less and recovering well? Ange, glad your dad’s better, hope weather improves for the caravan trip. So I’m glad I’m not the only BB freak on here! I agree about the iranian guy Jacq, trying to decide who I don’t detest, and it’s quite hard this year!..
Had chest and abdo ct scan today and it was all clear so happy about that. Saw my manager about returning to work next week and have said I’m only doing a few hours a week to start - I’m sure occy health will agree. Feel quite anxious about it but I’m sure it’ll be ok. Well, hope everyone’s okay, lets hope the sunshine comes back soon. love and hugs, Pat x
PS Jacq, still longing to hear your tales from hospital - I bet it’d make great tv… x

Hi
Hope everyone is ok and not too damp after the weekend!
Went to see the onc today and have at last consented to rads. Will have 23 in all starting 3 weeks after chemo. That means that I should finish at the end of August. Bring on the party. Still not keen on the onc. Every question I asked he told me to check the NICE website for the guidelines and that he isn’t treating me inappropriately! I never doubted that but I still have concerns about hormones which he just dismissed.
Jacq, waiting for the Tales from Hospital. I need a good laugh.
Take care all.
Nicky x

Hello ladies,
Glad to hear everyone ok and that you survived your latest treatment Ange.
Pat I am sure you will get on fine going back to work-I had my first class contact today and it was as though I hadn’t been off! Really enjoyed it even if it was only one lesson…and we managed to get part of the programme done on Friday before the rain closed in! I just need a fine day on Thursday now as I have 176 kids coming for an interschool sports all day (in the middle of which I have to nip of for my radx planning app!) certainly makes life interesting!!
Nicky you are right to ask questions, but glad you have got your radx sorted out. I have already got my supply of emu oil as I was told it was better than aqueous for keeping the skin moisturised.
Was down playing tennis with my girls for an hour tonight and just heading off for a swim-first for 4 months! Think my energy levels are picking up again.
How are you getting on Jacqui? Hope drains are out and healing ok?
Anyway, take care all,
hugz,
Lyn xx

!@!@!@!@!@ Lost the sodding lot!

Course I still have the drain - this is me! - pumping out more today than 3 days ago. Can’t stop watching the tube though - what’s more exciting - that or Big Bro.?

Have to watch all the gunk (body tissue - yuk!) moving, getting stuck, going backwards … and then I have to squeeze it, tip it and ease it all down until it takes its final journey into the bottle!
(I can see the white coats getting closer.)

Well done you Pat on the clear scans - hooray - that’s what it’s all about. Sooooo pleased for you.

Decided that I just can’t tell you any of the funny stuff that went on in the ward, 'cos it was mainly due to a couple of people doing what they really shouldn’t have been doing. And if I do, it would be too obvious and they would fall in the brown stuff, 'cos I know I’ve mentioned before where I was. Shame, was too funny though.

Elsie, I was a childminder in a former life (last year!) and not for a million squid could I be near that many kiddies.

Hope everybody else is getting on ok with their treatment and rads. Dreading the sore skin with that impending delight, 'cos I have so many scars in that area with the mast., recon., and now node removal, I think my whole body will disintegrate.

Anyway, what’s emu oil? Where do we get that … Boots, New Zealand? I was thinking more along the lines of Bio oil.

Anyway, am off to beddiebyes. Love to all, xJacqx.
E

Tut, dunno how that E crept in!

Hi All

I have my appt now for my bone scan its next tuesday roll on the results.

Hope everyone else is ok
Take Care All

Hello Ladies,

Have a question for you about what diet you follow. Came across a book by Jane Plant “The Plant Programme” recently. Jane Plant’s breast cancer recurred five times before she learnt of the relationship between diet and the deasease. She cut out all diary products from her diet, red meat, started eating organic food and is cancer free. The approach that I take at the moment is a little bit of everything in moderation is good (ok perhaps chocolate tips the balance;-))) but reading about Jane Plant made me think. If something as simple as switching to non diary products would prevent a recurrence is certainl worth a thought and perhaps a go??? Would love to hear your views on the subject.

Hope you are all doing fabulously well!

Kasia

Hello ladies!
Where is everyone?
Jacqui, so glad you still have your sense of humour…and I didn’t get to see my 176 kids today as it rained so much on Wednesday, the pitch was sodden so had to cancel sports, but will hopefully get it reorganised! My friend got me emu oil from a health shop, but think you can get it on the net.
Was in for my radx planning and got measured and tatooed, ready for starting on the 22nd. Had quite a long cons with a really nice doc who told me an awful lot more about Tamoxifen and the poss SE which I hadn’t had any word about previously. Apart from the flushes and weight gain which I knew about he also said it can cause some depression, and also spotting or bleeding from the womb, which might need checked by a gynaecologist…that is all I would need on top of everything else??? I am still trying to work up courage to get my smear done as it just seems one thing too much just now!
Kasia, I too had heard about cutting out dairy, but as i don’t eat much dairy anyway it didn’t seem to be that relevant to me anyway, but it would be worth finding out about. My GP mentioned that same book to me.
Anyway better get off to bed as I am teaching at 9 and will have to be up at 7.30…shock to the system!!
It has been good being back in class this week as the kids don’t see that you have been off or what’s been going on, just that you are there and they expect you to get on with it…a good dose of reality!!
Almost forgot to mention that we got some good news for a change yesterday when my daughter got her results from uni-she finished with a first class honours, and we are soooo proud of her!! Hopefully now she will get a job…!!
Bye for now,
hugz,
Lyn xxx
