Bloody ladycare magnet, what’s that then? I’m just turning more and more into a man magnet with every new scar (not).
You know what, if all this scarred skin starts coming away with 5 weeks rads., I’m gonna look like a walking autopsy.

lol!!!
Freddie is pretty annoying, but what about Sree? And Marcus? And what’s Angel about? But still I watch… I’m not sure if you have to raise arms for rads in your case, are you doing the exercises? They really help as the arm can stiffen up a lot. Let us know how it goes tomorrow.
Ladycare magnet is a little device that you wear in your underwear - yes it has to be the pelvic area. It’s mainly used for easing symptoms of menopause and as that’s what tamox gives, I’m giving it a go.
Hows your hair doing - I look like gi jane - not!!! At least it’s coming back. I actualy use a bit of shampoo now. Oh the things that please us…
Night night, Pat x
Hi all,
Well getting a laugh at your posts Jacqui makes up for being sleepless again! So glad you are back and on form! I had my first zap today and it was fairly straightforward, so 1 down, 24 to go!!!
With starting on the tamoxifen my flushes have increased hugely and like you I waken drenched! Bought a fan today and went to sleep with it trained on me…lovely…until OH switched it off cos he couldn’t sleep for the noise…well guess what…he is getting earplugs tonight!!
Pat I wondered what the lady magnet was too-might be worth a try…where do you get them? Glad you are getting on fine at work. I was in every day last week and though I was shattered by Friday being back in schools made me feel almost normal again! Won’t have so much now with having to go in every day for rads but hoping to get a few afternoons before the holidays. Our schools break up next Friday which is earlier than you folks down South?
Good luck today Alison-hope it goes well, and hope everyone else fine?
Daylight outside so off to bed to try and get some sleep before I head in for 2nd zap…will be sleeping in the car at this rate!
LOL,
Lyn xx
Lyn, you can get the Ladycare magnet from Boots and other chemists and dept stores. I ordered mine from boots.com as the local Boots didn’t stock it. It costs £19.95, you can google it and go to it’s own website. I just thought anything was worth a go. I’m def getting fewer hot flashes during the day but still getting the sweats as night, although maybe not quite as bad.
Glad you’ve started rads, I know it seems a lot but it’ll soon be over. Just be really diligent about slapping on the aqueous cream and you won’t go far wrong.
All the best to all, hope you’re having lovely weather wherever you are.
love and hugs Pat x
Hi all, back from dose 11 of chemo, and feeling pretty tired. Onc paid me a visit, to confirm I have definitely got to have 19 doses, so now will finish radio, day before we go on holiday. Also told me more bad news, when they did my scan for radio, they have spotted something on my liver that didn’t look normal, they are booking me in for urgent ct scan, to be done before I start radio, beginning to panick a bit as I have been suffering bad back ache. OH says it’s cos I spend so much time sat on my bum doing nothing!!!Anyway, just looking forward to day out at Newmarket Ladies Day, and holiday near Inverness, think the journey might knacker me, hoping to stop at sisters in North Yorks, then continue up on Saturday. Seems a long way off, but with all the hospital appointments to fit in in mean time, sure it will fly past. How long does it take for taste buds to return to normal?
Any way must go and get some more anti sickness, then some more fluids.
Bye for now
Alison
Alison - you’ll be fine - just a bit of dirt on the lens!
Lyn - stuff those earplugs in deeply so he can’t hear what you call him if he dares to go near that fan again.
And Pat - shampoo? - you’re funny, I still look like Minty on a good day. And missus - 20 minutes planning? - try 50. Stuck flat on that slab - don’t they know I have to have 4 pillows? - bad arm up above head, prod - talk, measure - talk, line up - talk, x-ray - talk, tattoo - talk; unable to move a muscle for the duration. Hated it, would rather have major surgery, chemo, the works than that. So claustrophic, I felt like the living dead. Had the Dexxa scan too and got another CT scan on Friday … humph!
Hope everyone is ok.
Love and stuff, x Jacq x
Alison, I’m sure you’ll be okay, they always take extra precautions and check everything out. Sounds like you’re gonna be busy, too.
Jacq, us mere mortals just have the bare minimum planning appt. Coz you’re such a special, unique, one off they probably couldn’t bear to let you go… The actual rads treatment appts should be quick, but with you, who knows…
Hope everyone’s okay. Our office’s air-con went into overdrive today so while everyone outside was sweltering, our teeth were chattering! It was soooooo cold. Not funny!
love and hugs Pat x
Just my bloody luck. I’d managed to get hold of 12 tickets for friends and family!
That sounded a bit heartless! I am really sorry for him. But … don’t know why, but I wasn’t at all shocked.
Me either jacq,he looked ill. Will you get a refund?
Hope you are ok and the rest of the ladies on here
Im still waiting for scan results so no news is good news I hope
Take Care xx
Jackie
Hi Jackie, yes all tickets are promised refunds, thank God for that!
How long do you have to wait for your scan results? Can’t they tell you over the 'phone? When I had mine just before Christmas I got told the same afternoon. Probably as it was Christmas, but the lovely, lady doctor spoke to the scanning dept., and rang me as I was in Tesco’s car park … burst into tears of joy! Ring them on Monday - if you don’t ask you don’t get! x Jacq x
Yipee chemo is over! Just the GCSF injections to go, which I’ve managed to escape before, and it’ll be a thing of the past. Rads planning on Friday. Jacq I’ve been told 30 mins so I hope I don’t go for your marathon. Always swore I’d never have a tattoo, guess should never say never!
Pat i too have started to use shampoo but seem to have dandruff already so have had to resort to T gel. It is a good feeling to hve enough to wash. Tempted to keep it v short as it’s such low maintenance. Will be cheaper at the hairdresser too. was quite miserable when it came back grey but have had loads of comments about what a lovely colour it is so I’ll be saving on the dye too.
Hope everyone is enjoying good weather
Nicky x
Nicky, how come you’ve only just finished chemo., and have enough hair to use shampoo? And yes, I too have dandruff - what’s that all about then!!!
Had the brief CT scan yesterday, not too bad. It took them ages to get it all set up, but actual scan only took about 15 mins., (still didn’t like it though).
1st of 25 zaps starts this Thursday. Asked one of the technicians about using the Aqueous Cream, and he said ‘oh yes, as long as you’ve been using it for about the last fortnight, you should be ok’, erm …!!!
Hope you’re all ok. xJacqx
Hi all, hope you’re enjoying hot weather. Had last chemo today yipee, now just got to wait till scan on liver next wed, then hopefully should start rad on 13/7, somehow got to fit appointment in with onc between scan and 13/7. Could be a problem as we’re of to newmarket on 9/7, and she’s not in on 10/7, guess it’ll be a phone consultation.
Feel absolutely shattered, hubby has just done a bbq.
Back to hospital tomorrow re getting wisdom tooth out.
Oh well onwards and upwards.
Bye for now
Alison
Hi Ladies
Hope all is ok with everyone.
Jacq I can use shampoo because my hair started to come back when I changed from epi to CMF at end of March/ beginning of April. It must now be nearly an inch long. Took the dog to the vet today and she commented on how hairy I’m getting. Not sure whether or not to take that as a compliment! Good luck with the start of your rads on Thursday.

Hi All
Just wondering if anyone has had travel insurance after chemo that covers cancer. Not sure what to do. Finished my tax now seen onc today and she was pleased, I will see her in two months after a blood test, after me hol in Tenerife.
Ange
Hello ladies,
just been catching up on all the posts and glad to hear everyone making progress. Am now halfway through radx and it’s a dawdle compared to chemo! Slapping on aqueous cream but also using emu oil which I had read about on the radx threads. Seems to be working as skin is fine apart from a slight pink tinge. Discovered after first few zaps that I am getting 4 weeks of a higher dose instead of 5 as after my planning app they thought I was fit enough to cope with it-not complaining as I will be finished a week earlier than we thought which gives me 10 days to recover before we go to Prague.
Jacqui fan is now established in the bedroom, though with the heat we have been having it’s an air con unit I would need! Never thought I would say it but roll on the cooler weather!! Hope you are getting on ok with radx?
Pat I will need to try the lady magnet, as I really thought I was going to expire this last week at work! The flushes combined with the heat…too much!!
Well better get back to bed and try to sleep. Hope everyone well.
Ange, try the Macmillan site for advice on travel insurance.
hugz,
Lyn xx

Hi All
Had my rads planning on Friday and am due to start 23 sessions on 20th July. After your warning Jacq that the aqueos cream should be started 2 weeks before rads I started slapping it on today but I’m not sure how often i should be using it. My last rads should be on my dads birthday so there should be double reason for a celebration.
I’ve needed the fan out before starting tamoxifen and the forecast is that the heat will return fairly soon. Has anyone tried a chillow?
Sorry to hear that your dad is poorly again Ange. I hope that he gets sorted soon. Thanks for the avice about the insurance as I am due on a cruise in January and still don’t have insurance. I will wait until after treatment though as hopefully that will bring the cost down a little.
Hope everyone else is ok.
