I’m in South Shropshire, my hospitals are in Telford and Shrewsbury. Xx
Ali, I used to live in Surrey, worked in Tolworth (tower) for a year then worked in central London. We rented in Worcester Park and Surbiton before moving to SW London (Colliers Wood) Then my husband got a transfer to Shropshire. I was brought up on the Isle of Wight and we’re hoping to eventually move back south. I’d love to live by the sea again! I’m very lucky to be living in the country, but it takes ages to get anywhere especially if you’re stuck behind a tractor!!
Blossom, that does sound like a good idea! We’d probably shock other people at the Spa with our straight talking and raucousness especially after a few glasses of Blossom Hill. I haven’t touched alcohol for nearly 4 weeks - it’s like being pregnant again! I’m sure I’ll get a taste for it by the end of the year tho
Early planning I know, but my dress arrived that I’m going to be wearing for my son’s (Matt) graduation in July. Tried it on with my wig and loved it I’m hoping to have finished radiotherapy by then but I’ll be in the hormone tablets so I’ll most likely be having hot flushes so won’t need a jacket! Gotta look for the positives where you can!
Having a chilled weekend before my next dose of the chemicals on Monday! My daughter (Becky 24) is up for a few days next week from Bristol where she’s working as a learning support assistant. Really looking forward to that
Have a good weekend everyone xxx
Hi Blossom Hill
Your post just made me emotional. All u ladies on this forum have kept me going. I don t know how I would have got to this point without you and I can t thank you all enough. Waiting for nurse to call to change drain and dressings. I think I ve got a serima under my armpit but hoping that will go in its own and won t need draining. I am still scared and anxious for results but hopefully will know Friday. My biggest fear is chemotherapy but they don t anticipate will need any further treatment. I just always think the worse as u know. Won t be long for u now and it will be all over xxx
Hi Kim et al!
Thank you for the info on the chemotherapy, not looking forward to the hangover side effects but good to know there are days when it’s not as bad and you do have some kind of sense of feeling normalish! I’ve also been checking out wigs online and may go for one that’s black with purple streaks, looks quite funky!! Well I’m down by the sea down in wet and windy Hastings!.. Brought up in Edinburgh/Doncaster … And used to work in central London too! Used to rent a place in Tooting Broadway, good old days ha! Always nice to pop there for shopping and drinks, handy it’s just over an hour on the train…
Hey Bloss, good luck with the mattress hunting… I always get a strong urge to just jump silly on all the beds in those kind of shops… Enjoy the weekend lovely ladies
Xxxx
Hi blossom
Nurse just been to check on me. Drainage is coming down nicely so hopefully be out before long. Bit of a wet area in armpit that they are keeping eye on but have dressed with iodine dressing to try and heal it. U up to anything nice this weekend x
Hi blossom. Not too bad. You ve been a busy girl painting. I m up for weekend away too. Would be lovely to put a face to those people I ve been chatting to. You ve all been a help to me these last few weeks and no doubt will continue to be in the future too. Love to u xx
Really good idea Seren!
I use pure Aloe Vera gel under my surgery side armpit as it was so sore at first and it actually worked well as a deodrant (was very surprised!) It also helped to massage the cording that I developed (still had to some extent) felt nice to massage the area
I’ve not long got in from my second dose of chemo which went well but chemo brain is kicking in and my concentration is being shot to pieces!!

Morning Girlies
It’s Dellypoos. Mastectomies 2006 and 2007. No chemo or rads. Part way through recon.
I used Bio Oil on both my mastectomy scars. Excellent stuff, bit pricey but you don’t need much. Would obviously wait until scar perfectly healed up - I don’t need to tell you that do I? You don’t want an infection.
I don’t know how I got onto this thread, as I was responding to another, BUT i’m very pleased to be here despite.
Loadsa GOOD lingerie co’s out there but I’d STRONGLY advise you to go to one of the shops for a PROPER fitting. Don’t rely on your BCN. These people are properly trained. Thought about doing it myself. Even if it’s miles away GO, 'cos it’ll make you feel a million dollars and a woman again. Also go armed with a FULL bank account. I was sooooo thrilled to be helped and feel more like a “complete” woman again, I ended up parting with over £200. Bought a load of sexy matching underwear to a couple of bra’s. Yes, and I only had myself to appreciate it - no-one else in the bedroom dept to, sniff sniff. Once you’ve had a proper fitting, you can then consider buying on line. Royce, Nicola Jane, Anita, Womanzone ALL good, wider range and less expensive than Amoena. Plus, advise NOT to be tempted to go to a normal lingerie shop or store department. I had a VERY upsetting experience on the back of a recommendation, to a lingerie shop. Kept bringing me the TOTAL wrong type of bra’s to try on. Eneded up in tears and walking out !!!
Loadsa love, hugs and kisses

Hugs to all xx
Delly loving the info on the sexy lingerie. . Getting in the valentines mood hey! Got my dressing changed today and felt like someone ripping waxing strips off me… Can’t really think about wearing a bra at the mo…I just have a strategically placed scarf knot in missing boob area which I think I’m getting away with at the mo! Nicola Jane catalogue looks good as they cater for a lot of swimwear and holiday clothing aswell as the bras… Like you Seren, I’m in limbo regarding booked holiday ( booked cruise a year ago) … It’s not til July but my BCN couldn’t really say either way as it all depends on how I react to the chemo and the dates when the treatment falls!! Grrr… Really don’t want to cancel… Ally I’m on the antiseptic wet wipe trick! Tried it last night and this morning and I’m pleased to inform my nurse didn’t pass out from redressing my wound!! So huge thanks! Xx
Ali, welcome to the chemo club! Words I never thought I’d say!! Im ER+ so will be on some sort of hormones after chemo, but also having radiotherapy as my cancer had spread to the lymph nodes (just 2 of them) Like you, chemotherapy gives me the extra confidence that any stray B3663rs are being well and truly zapped! (Bit how I’m feeling now - day 3 of my 2nd cycle of chemo!) Wben you’re ready, I’m sure the Feb 2016 chemo starters ladies will support you through this, and be sure to drop into our Jan 2016 starters for extra support and advise!
Take care xxx
Hey Ali-B
Great news on the results… I get mine on Monday… Gulp… Xxx
Good news Ali,yes it’s a bit ironic that 46 is considered “young” in breast cancer terms but it is !!!
Ali glad you got your results, onwards and upwards to blitz things once and for all x
Ah Ali b
Big hugs to you
I know exactly how you are feeling. I cried at Jeremy Kyle this morning and feeling down too lol.
Still got drain in which is really getting to me. Plus my results not ready so appointment re scheduled until next Thursday. They did warn me before I left hospital that may not be ready and nurse said this morning that it was due to sheer volume of biopsies they needed to go through. I ve been building myself up to tomorrow and now have to go another week.
It s hard trying to get through each day isn t it.
Big hugs and kisses and we ll get through this with everyone else xxx
Ah thanks blossom
The terror is starting to creep back in but I m trying to get through it. That little girl on Jeremy Kyle was heartbreaking. What a brave girl, always smiling.
Won t be long now before your op is over and you start to recover. I ll be thinking of you the way you have so kindly thought about me.
Thanks for ur words of support. Really mean a lot xx
Hi Jo
I m just hoping that the anxiety doesn t become like it was. Florida in 6 weeks time but worried I won t be able to go. Consultant said not to cancel as no reason to but I m worrying bout results. People are saying if she thought any more treatment needed then she wouldn t be saying to go. I know me, always think the worst xx
Hello Lovelies,
Yes Seren, it WAS another Primary bleeping tumour in second breast. So you sare near Warrington ? I’m Macclesfield in NE Cheshire. Am trying to get together with Naz in either Liverpool or Chester. I’d favour . Liverpool. Beeeautiful city AND you cna smell the sea too. Womanzone make some of their own lingerie and stock some of the well known makes - Natrell, Royce etc. Offoer a pocketing service. AND make swimming costumes to measure in a whole array of lovely fabrics and styles of costumes. Also do matching Tankinis, glamourous sari type wraps to drape from your waste, will help with fitting and order prostheses for you.Nicola ane shop down near Southampton and also Leeds have been well recommeded too, but pricier. Womanzone very reasonable
I don’t bother with natural deodorants and have now discovered Clarins do a matching one to their perfume which I’ve been wearing for years, as many perfumes give me a rash, irritate my eyes and nose or even give me a migraine. Such a sensitive flower you see !!
Also a good moisturising body lotion for boob area okay. But Bio Oil specifically developed to enhance the healing of scar tissue.Aloe Vera gel is water based so doesn’t give the moisturisingness. I’ve studied skin in both the beauty fiel and Chiropody/Podiatry fields so understand about the properties of waterbased/oil based creams lotions along with the healing of the skin following sugery, burns etc. Also studied and used Aromatherapy so you can but say a 50ml bottle of Almond oil (vit E) and Boots stock Lavender oil in small bottles. Add about 20 drops to 50 ml Almond and use that. Lavender very powerful healing properties plus along with tea tree oil or Rosemary, has good antiseptic properties also. You’d be better with an oil to rub on. You don’t need much. Over the whole boob or surgery site if your a mastectomy girl. Tea tree oil also excellent to use neat to treat Athletes foot and other skin fungal infections and nasty SPOTS. But DON’T EVER use any aromatherapy oil NEAT on larger areas of skin. Aloe more for burns and sunburn - fantastic for those, but not nourishing enough for your needs.
Where’s you holiday to.
There are a couple of info threads already, plus I’d included for such in the “Night Birds” thread, which of course doesn’t have to early hours of morn or late night. x
Kim - keep up with your stretching exercises for your cording, be strict.I had it but it’s easily remedied as long as your disciplined exercise wise. as often as you can. x
Sandi - Ha, No. I don’t as yet have a Valentine, just love to have the loovely underwear to feel more womanly and sexy!!! even if it’s just ME who see’s it. OR a surgical team!!!, as of recently with a knee tidy up arthroscopy. Just wanted to make their day more interesting - I AM a WICKED, awfully mischievous girl!! Why haven’t you got a “softie” sorted if your recent post op?? Should have been provided by your BCN soon as op ?? x
Blossom darlin, have you looked into any of the specialist travel insurance co’s. There are specific ones for the likes of US. There’s a section/thread on just such here. This Forum is a brilliant source of info and an abfab godsend. I wouldn’t be here were it not for IT. Had had enough of everything and well ready to do myself in!! All past - never felt better mentally in my life than the last 8 months - and ALL due to the likes of yourselves just thanking me for MY support and allowing ME to offload all my painful grief and CR*P !!!
Forgive me, I still haven’t caught up properly, but am taking part in a boob cancer survey at Salford Uni so need to get my skates on as I’m always last minute. Up at Glasgow next week for similar - travel expenses paid so using petrol travel exps for having a 3 day cultural break/treat with a friend. Love Glasgey
Ali, hope you’re doing okay today. Will be in touch SOON.
Love yers all

Hi seren
Thank you for post. I m ok other than having a problem with wound under arm after mastectomy. Wound has opened slightly and has some yellow stuff urggghhhh that needs to come out in order to heal. Nurse put special dressing on to try and draw it out. Hospital Thursday for results so anxiety creeping in . How are you xx
Hi Blossom
It will soon be over for you and just think of the nice 10 hr sleep you ll have while under. The pain after mastectomy really is not bad. I only took paracetamol and nurofen for pain: the worst part was the drain and that is a nuisance rather than painful. I m going to Florida in 5 weeks so am worried about wound jog healing and I have to cancel. Fingers crossed it will heal. I ve ordered myself a knitted knocker as the softie they gave me in hospital does not seem to work lol. Will get measured up for silicone falsie in next couple of weeks so that will be good. Hopefully no more treatment for me so fingers crossed for Thursday. Keep in touch. Xxxx
Glad the Op is over Jane and you are recovering. Thinking of you . Lou x
