No I didn’t get any stubble, it was worth the risk… I did google it and facial hair is really common after chemo and it will go either on its own or with a bit of help but when it’s blowing in the wind it’s gotta go…

Ah love it - you’re so brave! I. Just looking at it and going - oh my god! I was a bit miffed when my sister leant over and grabbed a handful at the weekend and pulled it out! Let’s hope it stays blonde lol! Xx
I have a pack of Immac ready just in case. Let’s see if it’s still there when I need it or will the daughters have nicked it? Yeah, that’s more likely. That or I’ll forget where I’ve hidden it.
Hi, I used a minoxidil serum twice a day and a a shampoo with minoxidil&emu oil both from DS Laboratories. I also took Silica & Horsetail supplements from H&B. My Chemo (fec/tax) ended July last year and I now have a chin length bob. Lashes/brows came back with two month literally nothing for weeks and then they just shot back in. Good luck. X
Hi,
A question for those of you using shampoo products (I like the sound of the lush bar as I love their other products). . .
How soon did you start using them after finishing chemo? I’m completely bald and having been told that I’m not having further chemo due to complications I’d really like to start encouraging regrowth as soon as I can. Is it worth starting now or should I wait until I’ve got at least a little bit of hair?
Nymeria x
Just to say that lush may be nice BUT they support givng money to hunt saboteurs to go and cause havoc everywhere and other organisations that may effect something in life that you do. I wouldnt give them a penny of my money which is a shame as its good stuff.
For those interested if you google lush and anti hunt it will bring up all the info.
wow - I didn’t know that! I might rethink a bit then.
i just use baby shampoo and iv also got a soft baby brush to brush the fluff x
Hi nymeria, also had Chemo discontinued. Started covering head in serum as soon as out of Chemo suite… Onc gave his ok. Minoxidil stimulates follicles, also massaged head twice a day for a few minutes (upside down/please don’t laugh, I know it sounds mad…) as blood flow to head brings oxygen and nutrients to hair roots and encourages growth. Good luck! X
Re Lush and anti hunting…
Lush choose to donate a lot of money to a lot of charities some of which I support and some of which I don’t and at Xmas 2009 they produced a one off bubble bar for the hunt sab assn which I def do not support, quote - "Mark Constantine, the 59-year-old co-founder of Lush, which is based in Poole, Dorset, has previously donated large portions of his profits to human rights groups, animal welfare organisations and environmental protesters such as Plane Stupid, who promote non-violent civil disobedience to opposed airport expansion.
Proceeds from the Lush cosmetics empire, which is thought to be worth around £150m, have also been used to fund campaigns to support Sumatran orangutans and oppose the widening of the M1 motorway. Sea Shepherd, a guerilla conservation group that operates vessels to scupper rival ships it finds whaling in the middle of the ocean, has received £22,000 from the sale of Lush products."
I for one will continue to use the fantastic products they sell as at least they don’t test them on animals!
I wont support them by buying because I disagree strongly with there motives, with the anti hunt ban came a lot of job losses a lot of friends had a change of life for ever and a lot of black patterdale terriers got attacked by anti hunt people because they believed they were out to get badgers. Oh for a bygone era.Oh and this doesnt mean that i support all hunting either. Those of you who wish to buy Lush carry on im sure they donate to more good causes than bad but for me this was bad!
One for the record they do an excellent deodrant that im sure you would be able to use after lymph node removal (when healed of course) as its natural made with bicarb and it works.
Hi again, i forgot to mention what i was using on my hair to encourage faster growth, I am using Alpecin caffeine shampoo and Activ F hair retention shampoo for women both bought from Boots the chemist. They seem to be doing the job i have used them both before when i had chemo 2 years ago. I also take a zinc supplement, green tea and vitamin c.
i have just been reading up on tamoxifen and it states that one of the s/es is hair loss. Has anyone experienced this. I am due start in a couple of weeks. Please help if you can.
And I also use the shampoo bar from lush and have done all way thru treatment.

any thoughts on when eyebrows and eye lashes return relative to other hair?

Hey!
Havent been on this site for awhile but I feel that i can now give some support. I am in my 5th cycle of fec and have one more shot to go then I am finished. Dont panic about your hair. It will be a shock when it starts to go and it will thin and your scalp will feel hot. I am having cold cap treatment so I have kept about 80% of my hair so far. Wash it with really good quality shampoo…nothing rubbish! My hair started to go on day 19 of my first cycle and has just kept thinning. Your eyebrows and eyelashes will also go around your 4th cycle…they will grow back!
Other advice is to eat well…lots of fruit and water. Take exercise when you can and listen to your body. I have worked through my chemo as a teacher and the kids have kept me going. Just take a deep breath, and do it. You will be amazed at what you can do when you really have to.
Hi everyone - just found this tread which was exactly what I was looking for!
I have had 3 x FEC and lost my hair day 14 of 1st FEC and just had 1st of 3 x TAX.
I have noticed people mentioning that hair can start to grow back whilst on TAX. I would like to start using the minoxidil serum and Alpecin caffine shampoo, did any of you use them whilst still on chemo?
I will check with Onc team (who will probably think I am mad, but they are getting used to it!) but it would be good to know if others have been advised to/not to use until after chemo has finished.

I have no idea but will be watching this thread with interest.
Finished fec/tax end of last July and used minoxidil serum and Revita shampoo, hair has grown back very nicely and I have a chin lenght bob now getting it cut regularly also helps as does a good diet and I also took H&B silica supplement. Vitabiotics also does a hair growth supplement. Always check with your medical team that they are happy for you to take anything extra. x
