Hair shedding timeframe

Aah, thank you so much @Crete :growing_heart::growing_heart::growing_heart: … thank you xxx

I started shedding on round 2 and got fed up with hair everywhere. so I thought I would get sponsors and raise money for Cancer Research. I contacted them and they sent me a t shirt, bunting etc and set up a just giving page. my son shaved it off and I raised £2000. I was proud and it was worthwhile.

Wow, that is amazing @rayasnan, well done!

My shedding has ramped up significantly since Tuesday so my mum and sister are coming over to help take it off as I definitely don’t need to be adding a clogged drain to my to-do list . I’m hopefully donating mine to the Little Princess Trust depending if it meets the required length criteria.

That would be good. My youngest son has grown his hair a few times then donated it to that charity. He even shaved his hair off to support me! Best wishes to you x

That is incredibly sweet of him and thank you for your well wishes. x

No worries they continue to run these year in and out, so wait until it suits you, but it is so worth it and you get great freebies, that you can either keep or gift to freinds and family. the freebies are from top line products/ makers. Moonsox.xxx

Hi, I’ve had one round of EC and I did cold-cap, which I actually found very straightforward. After reading about people losing a lot of hair by day 3/4 I thought I’d got away with it, but day 20 and it started to shed. Day 26 now, it’s not obviously thin or patchy but a good handful comes out on the comb every day. No loss of hair anywhere else though, oddly. I’ve got a bunch of headscarves sitting in my Amazon basket for when the day comes, so much cheaper than the specialist suppliers, more choice and fast, reliable delivery.

Good luck all!

Hair started coming out in bigger clumps today and was basically just everywhere and on everything so I’ve been buzz cut by my wonderful sister. She was ruthless! :open_mouth:

It was about 12 days for me too, then it was pretty quick from there on so I had it shaved all over, there was no resistance to the hair coming out at all. It was a relief really to just get on with it and accept that as my new normal

Thanks @kk983, it was a relief to get it off yesterday to stop it shedding everywhere. It was exactly as you described with there being no resistance to it coming out.

I had a rubbish night’s sleep last night and have struggled with the hair loss a bit this morning as I kind of forgot about it after waking up so my first appearance in front of a mirror was a bit of a shock!

I don’t look like me and I don’t like it, but I’ve accepted it was the best option given the circumstances and I’ll spend a little time grieving the loss, then I’ll pick myself up and crack on with trying to make the best of it.

So grateful for all you lovely ladies here, thank you. x

My heart goes out to you. It is rotten at first isn’t it? It will get easier, and by round 2 of docetaxel I started to see the first glimmers of regrowth (January). I am now seeing almost full coverage of hair, most of the bald patches have gone and my hair is about 1cm long on top and SO SOFT! I can’t stop stroking it!

I bought coconut butter from the health food shop and just gently massaged my scalp each morning. I think this helped reduce the sensitivity of my scalp, but if nothin else it was a soothing pamper me ritual each day. xxx

Thanks @Jaygo! Great to hear your regrowth is going well.

Yes, I felt a lot better about it yesterday but I am finding it a bit harder today. I think it’s been compounded by the fact that I’ve had a local recurrence just four months after clear results from surgery and I have the results of a chest and pelvis CT scan to come this week. I’ve started catastrophising that it’s spread and am spiralling a bit. I know intelligently that the results are completely out of my control but the anxiety is strong at the moment!

I can only imagine @mssteel that must feel awful. If I could magic the feeling away, I would. I shall be keeping everything crossed for you. xxx

Has anyone opted for a wig and actually worn it more than very occasionally?? Im halfway through my my 3rd of 4 EC cycles with 4 of paclitaxol to come. Wondering if its worth the investment at this stage. So far i manage with combovers indoors and a hat outside!

I bought two and didn’t wear either. The one occasion that I did I felt so self-conscious. I felt less vulnerable just being a proud shaven baldie. I’ve enjoyed playing with hats to keep my scalp protected from the sun. x

Worn mine twice but pretty much hibernated through chemo. I’ve just worn a beany & very happy with it!

Thanks @carrots0016!

I didn’t end up donating as there wasn’t enough lengthwise but did have fun with my mum and my sister while we were doing it. However, and in keeping with yesterday’s weather here, I did feel miserable all day as the loss of my hair hit me quite hard and brought out a lot of other worries about my situation, but I’m feeling a lot brighter this morning. :sun:

I hope your recovery from your surgery is going well. x
