Hi, was wondering if anyone has similar experience. I started taking Letrozole two years ago, following chemo and radio for oestrogen led breast cancer, from which I am now clear. I have another three years to go on this drug. I wore the ice cap during chemo and only lost a bit of hair, I have alot of it, but it was in bad condition for some months following treatment. However, taking collagen and various supplements daily really helped and my hair was pretty much back to normal. But in the last five months or so, I have noticed a band of thinning hair going from just above my ear across to the other side. And it’s really bothering me because whilst it’s only really noticeable to me, I’m panicking that it’s going to spread. Has anyone else had this experience?

You’re definitely not alone with this. I’ve seen quite a few women mention hair thinning on Letrozole, often a year or two in rather than straight away. It’s really unsettling when it shows up after you feel like you’ve “got your hair back.” It might be worth mentioning it to your breast care nurse or GP, even just for reassurance and to rule out anything else going on.
I’m just coming up to the end of 5 years on Letrozole and my hair has definitely got much thinner, especially at the temples. Fortunately I started out with masses of hair and I’m hoping it will get back to normal(ish) when I finish Letrozole. What I really hate is that I keep finding hairs everywhere and when I sweep the kitchen floor the broom is full of my hair! I’m also constantly pulling it out of the plughole in the shower even though I only wash it once a week with a very gentle shampoo.
I did speak to my GP about this but she didn’t really know anything and just suggested I buy ‘Regaine’ from Boots!! I didn’t because it’s about 15 quid.
