Hello, Anyone from North East about?

Hi Anne

I’m live in Blyth in Northumberland and go to Wansbeck Hospital. I’ve had one FEC - next one due on 24th Feb.

I’ll keep everything crossed for you for today.

Let me know

Take care

Hi Anne and Krissy…

We have organised one lunch in the past (near Team Valley) and me and Monica (daisyleaf) have been talking about trying to get together again perhaps in central Newcastle… I know it is tricky to plan things when you are on chemo though…

Krissy - i am doing okay… i have a really rare type of breast cancer called IBC (inflammatory breast cancer) so i had to have 4xac 4xtax and then the mastectomy followed by rads… i also started having changes in my other breast last year so had a second mastectomy in sept 09… I’m due to see Dr Lee next week as i’ve got a few concerns at the moment…

Hello all, hello Anne, welcome to the site/this thread! Good luck with your bloods. While it’s horrible having chemo, I imagine it can be worse when you’re expecting to have it and then it gets put off.

Anyone fancy a lunch again some time? We’re just coming to the end of some major building works in our kitchen and I’ve been tied to the house for weeks supervising builders etc - could do with an excuse to get out!

Best wishes.

Hi Theresa

Sorry to hear your having a few concerns at the moment. I hope your okay.

It would be nice to meet up. Just give me a shout and I’ll work around dates.

Take care

Krissy xx

Perhaps we could meet up in the center of Newcastle sometime as that might be easier for people to get to…? (i can’t drive so can only get to places on bus routes…) I will pm Monica as she might not notice this…

Theresa

That sounds great Theresa.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Krissy xx

Hello
I heard! Newcastle would be fantastic. start date for rads changed (AGAIN) looks like week commencing 1st March, not got much on before that, but daily treks afterwards!
would love to meet up
monica x

Hello again… Just bumping this up…

Any ideas of a good date for people to meet up…? Monica are you still due to start rads at the start of March…? I could make it any day next week… (i do have a doctor’s appointment on monday but it is for 9.30am so should be out the way quickly…:D)

Also any ideas of somewhere to meet up? i tend to just go to the main obvious places as i am not from the north east and i know there must be loads of good smaller places hidden away… lol

I went to the hospital yesterday and not really any further forward my onc was on holiday so saw a doctor i hadn’t met before… she didn’t seem at all concerned about any of my problems… it turned out my blood pressure was 155/110 so hopefully that explains why i have been getting dizzy etc recently… she did suggest that might be down to the pain killer i have been taking recently as it can increase bp… i havn’t taken it this morning and must admit i actually don’t feel lightheaded today… (the pain killer was for my frozen shoulder which is now much improved anyway…:D)

As for the weird bumps she didn’t take those seriously at all really… she thought they were too far from my scarline and was convinced they should be red… i explained i knew someone on here that had ibc skin mets whose bumps were white from the start and never red but she looked at me like i was a mad woman… lol I was really upset about it yesterday but feel better today… I will just mention it to my own gp and keep a very close eye on them and if they seem to be getting any worse go back… (of course the crazy thing is they could just be something totally innocent but it doesn’t exactly inspire confidence when the doctor is adamant about something you know they are wrong about…)

Hi Theresa

Great to hear from you. I have my second FEC next Wednesday. I’m away to Perton for the weekend so Monday is out for me and Tuesday I’m at the Physio, so I’m guessing next week wouldn’t be great for me. Not to worry if you’s can go, then go for it!!

I’m feeling okay this week but know that next week it starts again :-((. Not to worry - its another one to tick off the list.

My head is really sore and tender. I’m losing bits of hair now so I’m expecting by the weekend I may have to get out the shaver.

Take care and speak to you soon.

Love Krissy xx

Ah Krissy, its not easy, this bit, but once the shavings done and you’ve taken control, loads of us have felt a lot better.
I can do any day but 24th next week, not sure after that but I’m going to ask for late morning rads so if we say 1.30 in newcastle, I should be able to manage any day.
Will be lovely to meet those of you I haven’t met and to see you again, Theresa. I’m so sorry you didn’t get a proper response from the doc - I think you’re being very measured about it, it would drive me nuts (more howling at that moon!)seriously, I hope you soon get some answers that you feel confident about.
love to everyone

Hi Krissy and Monica…

Krissy I hadn’t realised before today that this is your second time around with BC… (can’t even remember which thread i saw you mention it on now…!) it is Monica’s second time as well…

I meant to mention before I don’t know if saturdays would be better for anyone… not sure if some of the others are back at work now… Sundays are useless for me as the buses from here are useless on a sunday…

Monica how many rads sessions are you having? Are they at the Freeman? (i’m sure you must have said on the day we went to Edinburgh but my head is like a sieve these days…)

Theresa x

Hi Theresa

Yeah its second time around. Not to worry. Its gonna be the last time this bc visits me. It can bog off :-))

Hope your okay. God my head is really sore now. I’m gently massaging it but you would think it was covered in bruises. Very strange.

Saturday unfortunately isn’t a good day for me due to seeing hubby for weekends with him working away but any week day is. How about the week after next for anyone? Just let me know and I’ll sort something out.

Take care and speak soon

Love Krissy x

Krissy i found my head felt like just before all my hair fell out… mine all went in an hour… Nigel took the dog for a walk and by time he got back i was practically bald…:o Have you sorted out a wig etc?

I’m sure we will be able to sort out a suitable day…

Theresa x

I’m sure your right Theresa. Clumps of hair are coming out now. Its weird isn’t it how one minute, little bits come away and the next its big clumps. I’ve got my wig. Got it from Natural Image. Its not bad considering but to be honest I’ve ordered 3 bandanas from the internet, two short ones and a long one that can be tied with a scrunchy and I think I’ll wear them. If Kylie can wear them, so can I he he

Let me know about a suitable date, I’m really looking forward to it.

Quick question - did you shave your hair off yourself? I think I’ll get hubby to do it.

Take care

Love Krissy xx

I went to Natural Image for mine as well… To be honest it really did practically all fall out in that one hour… i was just left with a tiny bit at the back that Nigel cut for me… Mine has come back in all mad and curly and was poker straight before… I used to wear my wig out and about but be bald in the house…

Theresa x

Well I honestly think there won’t be much left of mine in the morning at this rate. I’ve never experienced soreness like it on my head. Did the soreness ease once it was all out?

Krissy x

Just a quicky, as I am long past my bed time,

but anyone from Co. Durham about? Dsrlington, Sedgefield area?

Kay xx

Hi Kay - hopefully someone from your neck of the woods will post soon…

Monica - hope that your rads are going okay… x I’m not sure if we want to wait until you have finished them until we meet up…?

Krissy - hope that your 2nd chemo was kind to you…

Theresa x

Hello everyone
my rads are all booked for 1pm except on Tuesdays, and you know how late they can run, but if others can make a meet up on Tuesdays that would be fantastic.
would love to meet up
monica xx

Hi Monica…

When do your rads finish…? Is your appointment sooner on a tuesday then…? That used to be the day i had see my onc as well but she had her clinic on the tuesday afternoon and it used to be very variable how long i had to wait to see her…

Are you meant to be going back to work soon after they finish or having a bit of a break?

I was wondering about places to meet up… one of my friends swears by Strada in the centre of Newcastle… they do a lunchtime deal for about £8.95 that includes a glass of wine. Of course there are loads of places at the Gate complex…

Once we have an idea of when i will have a word with Nigel as i will either need to back here for David getting home from school or be sure that Nigel can…
