Hello, Anyone from North East about?

Im so pleased you made yourself go to the shops please try and make yourself go for a little walk everyday with your head held high and be proud of yourself for how well you are doing and youre nearly at the end now chick xxx dont crumble on us now . Kim iam off all next week I live right on the metro station or i will even come and get you If you want to come for a natter and a coffee xxxx I mean it i will come get you so get that face washed and get the slap on ( double thick ) pm me if you want to come and let me know xxxx

Well done Kimmie-sure that the first time is the worst and you have done it. Do you have a cute little kid you can take with you next time. That’s what I did the 2nd time I went out without wig (1st was with daughter and we just talked all the time). My niece is so gorgeous that no one bothered looking at me!!! after that as long as I didn’t catch sight of myself I forgot about it. Good luck with your second outing.
margaret - hope your problems get sorted.
Lulu - let us know how your zumba went, friends tell me it pretty full-on. Best I can do is 20 min walk and Pilate’s.
Ellie - I finished treatment last May and have found the fatigue a problem especially since starting back to work. BUT the good news is that the last 2 weeks have been a little better. So hang in there.
Best wishes to all. Marli x

Hi girls
Good for you julie, mind you look great so I dont blame you for ditching Marjorie. Thank you so much for offering to meet up you really a lovely person. X.

Marli - thanks for your good wishes. X

hello everyone, I don’t often post on here, but read you a lot and love it, its great you know you are out there! Just wondered if we should start a thread on “how many times have people ruffled your short hair without asking you if they can”! I am sick of it - my hair began to grow back in late october (so not totally bald for my 50th birthday!)since then people just play with my hair without asking - like really a LOT! Even my mother in law did which was most unnerving. Apparently a similar thing happens to pregnant women who get their bellies touched without asking.
So, I now say “did you ask if you could do that?” Bit rude eh but I’m sick of it - it even happens at work.
best wishes for a good weekend, especially our chemo buddies,
Nicola

Right then…the Zumba,eh? The short version is I very nearly died , drowned in a pool of sweat. The longer version: I decided to ditch Lilli the wig as I suspected a high impact type of activity. Can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be to prance about with a wig? I went as Svetlana the potato picker instead. And just as well as my scarf was absolutely drenched by the end. GOSH I felt like a dancing elephant. Just as well I placed myself at the back of the class. And by the way there were hundreds of women! Mostly young and fit looking. So I definitely didn’t stand out with my scarf and rolls of fat… Ha ha. But did I care. What do you think? Of course I blooming didn’t! I have had cancer, remember? I don’t give a hoot at what people might think or say.
Still, I enjoyed it in a perverse type of way. Even if I stood out like an eyesore and was always a step behind or going the wrong way. I certainly worked out… I might even go back!

Today I went back to work to say hi to people before I start rads next week. It made me feel normal again. People remarked how well and happy I looked. Well, I certainly feel happy at the moment. Happy to be alive! And not to taste chemicals in my mouth! Ecstatic, in fact. I am still on a high after finishing chemo, I reckon. Who needs ecstasy,eh?

Love to all

Lulu xx

p.S. Nichola I’ll report back on the hair ruffling as soon as I have hair to ruffle…lol

Lulu - you did make me laugh! Had a frantic days trying to make two birthday cakes for nieces’ birthdays tomorrow and then one of them taken poorly, so been ferrying them to docs. etc. Well done you for trying - are you going again? Lovely to hear that you are feeling a little more normal and that you touched base with work. Will be in touch. all being well will, be at lunch on 28th, looking forward to seeing everyone again. Marli xx

Hi girls, anyone catch northeast tonight?
it’s all ok apparently breast cancer is no longer " a personal catastrophe" .
I’m so relieved, well actually I’m furious.
Pat

Hiya

Have avoided all news this afternoon after, seeing all the b*****ks on the BBC this morning. Have had a glass of red wine tonight and consequently am just asking for trouble.

Nicola no one other than my children have stroked my head yet, maybe you look more approachable than me. One of the children at my daughters school (she is 5) said to her,’ your mam is bald ’ Isabel replied ’ yes she is '. Love kids.

Hope everyone is doing well and is feeling relieved that according to the news we really are making a fuss aboutnothi g and anyway it’s our own fault.

Debx

I agree with you, Pat! Such an insensitive remark is an insult to any woman who has had to endure such a diagnosis.
The w*****s!!
Lulu X

On the other hand, Deb, I don’t drink alcohol (never have), I am not obese (as yet) and I have been exercising. So I’m bound not to get it. RIGHT?
Honestly, where do these people get off???
Lulu xx

Good job I never caught northeast tonight otherwise a new tele would have to be bought after I’d thrown a brick at it. How insentive and knowing there are going to be idiots to think that’s right - I hope they get a whole pile of complaints!

Good morning campers!
And guess what? Ok, you can never guess… Just plucked up the courage to hop on the scales this morning to check progress in the battle of the bulge. Weelll… I seem to have lost three pounds in the last few weeks!! Yippeee! How good is that? Finally the scales are starting to cooperate. During chemo I just gave up! They were my enemy! NO MATTER what I ate or didn’t eat I kept on piling the weight on and on and on. Mind you, this weight loss might be simply due to the fact I am not suffering from water retention anymore as I haven’t exactly been starving my plumpish self. EVEN SO I am delighted. it’s a start. I have been following the nutritional advice I received at the PB centre and I must say I am feeling better and fitter as a result. I have also started exercising again, as you know.
So onwards and upwards.
As to that item of news about breast cancer yesterday… Very simplistic and unfortunately misleading. I could have ticked all the boxes for reasons NOT to develop it but I blooming well did.
Ok we shall aim to lead healthier lifestyles but we already know that. I sometimes think it’s the luck of the draw. No rhyme or reason why some women get it and some don’t.
Happy weekend girls!

Lulu xx

That comment was obviousley made by someone who has never had a breast cancer diagnosis cos it certainly was a personal catastrophe to me and my family xx A—holes
Look forward to seeing everyone too xx

Snap Julie!!! Xx

Hi Everyone
Sorry not been around but my life is just so fullfilled at the min!!! what with Chemo, hospital, being ill, family, work!! I just dont seem to have enough hours in the day.
Well I am glad to report that spoke to the chemo unit last week and got my sicky tabs changed and have had not had to use them form weds onwards, picked up wig on weds and much prefer it to my own hair!! which incidentally is still in place for now.
Glad everyone is in high spirits and I too was furious by the remark that stupid woman made on the news yesterday, it is a personal catastrophe for my family, me and my friends I am going to complain to the powers that be.
Have a good weekend and will post soon.

Debs xx

Deb Im really pleased we have another wig lover convert ha ha xx
hope you feeling better soon xx Julie

Hi Ladies

Just to let everyone know that I have submitted a email to OFCOM regarding the stupid newsreader who commented on breast cancer not being a personal catastrophe.

Will update you if here anything, hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine today.

Debs x

good for you Deb x

Good for you Deb. Hope you get a reply. It’s mucked up my life but when I read about that comment I thought immediately of my friends sister who died of this and the subsequent effect it had on her young children - to me that certainly was a personal catastrophe all round.

Well done you, for me it was a personal catasrophe losing my mum to this disease at 16 years old.
Let me me know if you get any feedback x
