Hi Girls
Well im pleased to say Im starting to feel a bit like my old self again. Lets hope rads and herceptin dont put pay to that.
Went out yesterday with my wig (trixie) on and my beanie hat and nobody batted an eyelid unlike when I have my heafscarf on. Helped wonders with my self confidence.
Hope you feel better soon Julie and thanks for the mini straightener tip off, I have a feeling mine will grow curly too.
Emma I bet you look gorgeous
Hi lulu- glad your well

Glad youre confidence is getting a boosting Kim xxxxx really pleased youre getting out and about now we might meet to have that cuppa after all xx
Yes Kimmie come along to our lunch date on the 28th, I’d love to meet you and show you my curly locks haha xxx
Hi everyone
Hope you all having a good weekend, Kim glad to see you have started to face the world again.
My hair has started to fall out which has been a knock to my self esteem even though I knew it was going to happen still dont want it too (does that sound strange) head has had funny sensation since friday felt like had pins stuck in it, not looking fwd to tuesday either even tho i know i will be half way thru it still fills me with dread.
Sorry for being a misery but feeling down today, hate bloody cancer.
debs x
I don’t want to sound disrespectful Emma but HOW ON EARTH are you going to straighten those lovely, thick curls??surely it would take you the best part of the day! I dread to think what my hair is going to be like, being curly already. EEK!
Kim, so glad you picked up the courage to leave the house and even gladder ( my iPad had just changed that to bladder! GRRRRR! Honestly I have to watch what I write like a hawk. The iPad has its own weird ideas when it comes to spelling! AND apostrophes…) you like your wig. It really gave me the confidence to leave the house and NOBODY has ever suspected it wasn’t my hair. I’m talking about people who don’t know me, of course…
I really hope you can make the 28th! It would be lovely to meet you in the flesh.
Just been to a Zumba class again. Looking as inconspicuous as ever…NOT! But I really couldn’t wear my wig as you sweat BUCKETS! Literally…so it had to be Svetlana . Lilli ( my wig persona) doesn’t do anything that requires any sort of hard work. She doesn’t do sweat. A bit like a royal…He he…The lazy so and so…lol.
Hope you all had a nice weekend. Another week of rads awaits.
Hugs

Debs your message must have arrived as I was typing mine. SO SO sorry about your hair. I DO empathise So much!!. I was distraught when I started losing mine. EVEN IF I was prepared. It is still traumatic. We have all been there so big hugs to you!
Did you say you’ll be half way through after your next session? Are you only having 4 chemise then? Here we go again. Blooming IPad! 4 chemos is what I wrote…
You take care!
Lulu x
HDebs, I found that while I wasn’t overly bothered about having no hair, I HATED having to wear something on my head. As you can see from my pic, I gave up before it started growing back! Cancer is crap.
My hair may be growing but is showing no signs of being curly. I’m so disappointed. I’ve wanted curly hair all my life! It is however a revolting range of colours. Dark patches, white patches and on top, dead mouse beige. VERY rock 'n roll!
I’m doing the gym and trying to diet. After a week of being very good (no crisps, choc, sweets and very little bread or cheese) I have POSSIBLY lost 1/2lb. WHAT!!! I’m SO pissed off. Lulu, how are you finding it?
Kim, I’m really happy you’re feeling better. And I still can’t wait to meet you! Although I’ll be really nervous when we finally do.
Quick question: has anyone else got real lumps around their scar? I had one lump biopsied (sic???) before xmas but it’s REALLY lumpy there and for about 2 inches to the right. If I hadn’t had cancer, I’d assume they were breast tissue but…
Jo
Trust me Jo, you don’t want curls!! But how weird about the different colours…
Speaking of hairs ( and sorry for posting again. I’ll stop after this!) I have just seen on the Bafta award ceremony the wife of a black actor ( sorry, no idea about his name). I kid you not, she looked as if her hair had been cut with a chain saw! Is that the new fashion? Seriously unkempt and skew whiff ( right spelling??). Because we have a chance with our chemo hair then!!!
Lulu x
Oh, copy and paste a pic Lulu. And don’t stop posting! You’re so entertaining (sorry if that reads as patronising, it isn’t meant to be!).
Ems, there is a bcc conference on family history and bc in London on April 24th. But aren’t you having an op in March? Here is the email address if you DID want to enquire.

Jo
Hiya
My hair is v slowly filling in. I got a soap bar from lush when we were in Bristol to stimulate growth. It is not curly yet, but there is time.
Jo are they holding the same genetics forum this year as the date on that thread was 2010? I am sure you would get loads from meeting other braca ladies.
Hope everyone is well and those having rads are sleeping on the cream.
Debx
Watch the Bafta Jo! It’s so entertaining! All those bottom jobs, facelifts, etc. Here we go again…the iPad changed botox into bottom! Really… Frankestein is nothing compared! But seriously, hair wise I reckon we are home and dry! Some seriously weird hair cuts out there. Not sure about our chemo bodies though. And YES! I’m struggling too with the diet. After a week of going to Zumba classes, eating seeds and nuts ( thought I was going to sprout wings at one point), drinking herbal teas ( stay away from pomegranate tea. I bought it to see what it would be like and it’s DISGUSTING!), eating reduced amounts of carbs and enough fruit and veggies to fill a Market stall I PUT ON A POUND! WTF!!! At least you lost half a pound! Where is the justice eh?
Lulu x ( sorry I broke my promise and posted again but it’s either posting or getting off my bum to cook some healthy tea. My bum stays firmly on the settee…lol)
Ooooh, what a twit! I looked at last years thread about the conference. It’s at the top though, which is confusing!
Lulu, thank you. You’ve made me feel SO much better. NOT because you’ve put on weight obviously, but because I thought maybe it was just me. The week before I started my diet I put on over 2kg. HOW!!! Not on steroids anymore and I wasn’t dieting but wasn’t over eating either.
Just as well I like the damn cross trainer. AND that I’m not expected to work full time so I’ve got time and energy to exercise.
I wonder why this is? I’m seeing my oncologist at the beginning of March. I’ll ask him then, if I can fit through the door!

Spreading the love to you all this valentines day. You have all helped me sooooo much and am forever grateful.
Aah thanks Jo - your a lovely special lady xx
Question for you girls- I have been to see the onc today and start herceptin on friday. He has asked if i want to be part of a trial where I go on herceptin for 6 months instead of 12. They are trialing the drugs effectiveness. There has been other trials done one where patients stopped taking the drug after 9 weeks results to be published soon. So do I take it for 6 and be monitored or take it for 12 and be monitpred??? What are your thoughts?
