HO HUM its that time again!; )

Dear all

Gosh it’s all been a bit busy on here over the weekend! Hope everyone is OK and not too depressed about Lewis and Rugby. We watched the Rugby with friends, and I’m afraid to report I had a few too many glasses of wine (haven’t really drunk much for a while, and boy did I regret it!)…felt rather pants today, but managed to go out for the day - my Mum took us out for lunch and then we went to an ‘Apple Day’ at a country museum, it was rather good with loads of local produce (apples, apple juice, cider, etc) and traditional crafts. The kids all went mad on adventure playground, so the girls all sat and had a coffee in the sunshine whilst the men supervised!

Everyone sounds in good spirits - Mel, good news about the critical illness - it is such a help isn’t it? We got some and managed to pay a chunk off our mortgage and I got to buy my ‘Happy’ car that cheers me up when I drive it as it goes like stink!!!

Julie - hope the op/implant thing is not too uncomfortable for you - I am intrigued as I am having the saline implants when I have by bi-lat mast soon - how big do they go? I am currently a ‘D’ cup but the surgeon said they wouldn’t be anywhere near that…

Dilys - hope the mouth improves soon, but liking the enforced diet plan.I am thinking I am gonna get back on my Closer.Com diet soon, as I have put on about 3/4 stone so far (no gym, steroids and comfort eating - not ideal!!!)

Lesley - sorry about your hair honey…sending hugs.xxxxx

Hope everyone else is doing OK.
Love and hugs

Hi All

Just did a long post, and then lost connection and the post itself. Grrr. Well if it wasn’t Hamilton at least it wasn’t Alonso! We really shouldn’t watch these things. I had my small bursting with hungry men who all cleared their plates so what tasted like rat poison to me could not have been all that bad. I am there with you with the yukky mouth, Mel. Even peaches and strawberries tasted vile to me.

Lesley hang on in there. You do get used to being bald, even if you don’t enjoy it. I have sent said men off to the local to drown their sorrows, and am happily now wigless in a comfy turban. Bliss.

Julie -thanks for that about the injections etc. Is it uncomfortable? I am not sure if that is the same as my becker implant. It seems so long since we talked about it all with the surgeon that I am very vague about it now. Good for you going up a size!

Fully expecting a sleepless night as there is a definite pattern with me. Keep teling myself this is the last time though.

Much love to all

Dilys

Hi ladies,

I’m back!!! A very good morning to all and a huge welcome to Lesley.

I am sooooooooooo sorry I’ve not been on for what feels like ages! We had friends up from Kent this weekend and also the house hunt has gone mental!!! Well, we have now reserved our plot and just need to keep our fingers and toes crossed that ours goes asap now! This past few days has been chaos but in a nice way for a change. If you fancy checking it out go into the Geroge Wimpey website and look up Oakham Manor, lightmoor village in Telford. Our house is ‘The Maple’ but the the pics are of the showhouse which is a ‘Plough’, but it is almost identical to ours. I’ll be interested to see what you all think. I’m up early today, have the estate agent comin round first thing to measure up and take pics of our house. It is spotless!! All those jobs we’d been putting off forever have all been done, funny that!!! LOL!

Huge CONGRATULATIONS must go to Dilys for finishing chemo. Its a wonderful feeling isn’t it?! I hope you really enjoy that champagne, you certainly deserve it. Onwards and upwards now!

Another huge CONGRATULATIONS must also go to Mel, checking you out!!! All your hard work has defo paid off and I’m so pleased for you. I can congratulate you in person on Thurs when we meet. What are you wearing, any idea? I’m toying with either jeans or tracky bottoms but can’t seem to make up my mind! I’m the one with the crazy ar*e hair. Hopefully it’ll behave itself on thurs!

Had my check up with my surgeon on weds, all was well. Then it was rads planning on Thurs and I’m now tattoo’d to the max! Starting rads on Nov 5th. I’m sure I’ll ‘remember remember’ that! LOL!!

Ladies I hope you all are well. I’m sorry I’m not addressing everyone individually, its just I’ve missed so much that after reading all the posts from the past few days I don’t think I could keep up with it all! I promise I will be back on every day now.

Take care all,

Kelly

Dear All

Sounds like most of us have had a good weekend. Haven’t been on all weekend decided to try to have a BC free weekend and did to a large extent. My kids were off school for half term last week, it’s always different in Scotland and they have an in-service day today. We are of to Xscape so my youngest can try the high obstacle course and the fan drop. She wants to do this for her birthday party but it’s quite scary so we have to make sure she will do it first. Hubbie and eldest are joining in and I will watch, thought of trying to get a safety helmet over my wig is not appealing. At least that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it.

Lesley 50 sorry about your hair, it stinks. When mine was that bad I shaved it all off. Felt much better.

Kelly think I saw the house like yours, it looks great. It must be so exciting, don’t envy you keeping your house pristine though. I got my self a lady who does after dx and by the time she comes in on a Friday my house is a mess. It is the best money I spend all week though.
It’s great that you and Mel will get a chance to meet. I went to the healthy living day in Glasgow in recently and it was great. I’m going to the younger women’s forum in Glasgow beginning of November. Its residential so it means a night away from the hubbie and kids but they will survive I’m sure. Really looking forward to it and hopefully might meet others that live nearby.
This thread is getting very long with people like me joining in so Mel, Dilys, Ali Dawn, Lyndsey and Lee and anyone else my forgetful brain has omitted hope you had a good weekend and the sun is shinning where every you are.

Hi Everyone

Kelly the house looks fab, keeping everything crossed for you to move and do you have your dates yet then? Wish I lived nearer would say put me on the list too for the house warming.

Dilys am doing great thanks, mouth ok now and got all my usual energy back really now - good job being half term. I hope that you are feeling better, but will be in the same boat as you after next wednesday. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon.

Well done Lesley on your hair - it is tough but think once you are over that hurdle easy to move on … just remember as everyone says it grows back. Not sure when, think after chemo finished.

Ali hope you are doing OK and not suffering anything right now … if you know what I mean. And hope Thomas is being good for you.

Mel, sorry no idea on the energy front really, as not suffered from that sort of thing, except first week after taxotere, but that was more aches and pains!! Hopefully you will be better in a few days. All I can say is eat eat eat … gives you energy, specially chocolate!!! Any excuse …

Hope everyone else on this thread is ok if not mentioned them. Nearly time for the muppets bath and bed time - yippeee … although Spurs on telly tonight (yep, have to admit I am a fan, was a season ticket holder for 17 years!!!), so be cheering them on.

Have a good evening everyone and enjoy your week and catch up later.

Dear Dawn, Mel and everyone

No idea on the energy front - this coming from ne who staggered awake at 1100 this morning after a rough night, and has been sitting in a chair reading most of the day! Sorry Mel! Question of time I think. Dawn - glad you are still up and running! I had a call from the breast nurse this afternoon to go in next Monday for a blood test at 0830. If my blood is ok then they will start inflating that morning! AARGH! Ouch! Last time the surgeon couldn’t find the valve for ages…

Nurse said she ‘thought’ it would be ok… I want someone to say I ‘KNOW’ it will be ok…Have felt really good over these last days and dread chemo… but it is working… positive positive positive attitude. The sun is shining here in the south which makes for a gr8 day!!! love that sun! Sleeping is better now that it is cool nights… I can’t sleep when it is the least bit warm! Off to walk the dog… take care.

Hope all u girls that are feeling poorly are feeling better…best wishes to you all.

Hi Ali, Lee and everyone

Thanks Ali - still feeling shaky today but determined to go to the hospital with OH. And you are of course right - this is the last time, so once it eases I am off and running (towards the inflation - ouch!). Still the sun is out again today even if it is chilly. Lovely autumn weather really.

Good luck with the flu jab Lee. I suppose it is better than actually gettng flu right now!

Mel - hope your energy is coming back.

Love to everyone else!

Good afternoon ladies,

I’m glad you all liked the house. The ‘For Sale’ board went up on our house earlier this morning, blimey I hope we get a buyer asap. I’m all ready and waiting for the viewings, our house has never been so clean!! Our mortgage has already been approved so fingers and toes crossed all goes well! Had a busy afternoon yesterday, the support group I belong to are raising money for charity this week and I manned the stall all afternoon with a fellow ‘pink ribbon’. It was awesome and we sold loads of pink ribbons and raffle tickets. I had a lovely time and people were so kind and generous.

LesleyHe - I hope you have a great time at the ‘Younger Womens Forum’ next month. Please let us know how you get on as I really fancy goin to the one in B’ham in Feb.

Lesley50 - Good on 'ya for shaving your hair, its a brave step to take. I did it too, well my boyfriend did it for me. I’m glad you got your OH to help you. I really hope you’re not regretting it, I didn’t. I hope the line goes/went well today and all the best for chemo tomorrow. May your side effects be minimal!

Mel - Looking forward to meeting you on thurs, I reckon I’m gonna wear tracky bottoms to make sure I’m really comfy. Of course you’ll be on the house warming list!! Blimey, I know all about crawling up the stairs to go the loo! I kept telling my OH that we needed to get a stanna stair lift installed for me!!!

Dawn - The house will be ready to move in to before christmas, I only hope we get a buyer for ours! Its a shame you don’t live nearer! I’m glad you are doin ok. A Spurs fan eh?? I used to live v.near white heart lane, I’m a gooner though!!

Ali - How you doin??

Dilys - I’m really sorry to hear you’ve been poorly, I’m sure you’ll be fighting fit in no time! All the best for mon, I will be thinking of you. It may be a stupid question but what is inflation? I hope your hubbies U/S goes/went ok today.

Lee - I hope your flu jab was ok. My onc has recommended that I have one too so I’m off to the docs in the next couple of weeks for mine. Wishing you all the very best for chemo on Thurs, may your side effects be minimal!

Huge apologies to anyone I have forgotten, and I hope you are well!

Enjoy the sunshine ladies and enjoy your day,

Take care,

Kelly

Hi Kelly

Welcome back and good luck with the house sale. Saw on another thread that your rads planning went ok for you. I am looking forward to getting there and the answers you got helped a lot. Inflation? I have Becker implant inserted at the same time as the mastectomy, and they have to fill it with saline to stretch the skin and muscle. Sounds delightful, doesn’t it? Has to be done before rads apparently. The ultrascan was fine. OH has gone of for a drink to get over it (what a wimp) and I have come home to tuck up in the warm. But I managed it on my tingly feet! Feeling slight less rough today so onwards and upwards! Thanks for thinking of me Ali. I should try to enjoy the last time really!

Wish I could meet you and Mel as well!

Loads of love to all

Hi All,
Wow Kelly - glad you can remember everyone! mind you not sure who I am these days! So if no one minds I am keeping is short and sweet - too low!
I’m not sure what to wear for thursday! might go for jeans as to fat for joggers!

Have not been to well - nurse has been round to take bloods as she is not happy with the way I am and feel! great! So I am just waiting to find out if I need to go in for a blood transfusion or just need more meds! I reckon i need a blood transfusion the amount of blood they keep taking from me! So I am hoping that I will be ok for thursday!
As for meeting up we could arrange a neutral place in the middle somewhere when everyone is upto it!

Anyway ladies I might try and get back on later! Chin up to allxxx

Love, hugs and wishes

Hi all,

Sounds as thopugh everyones had a busy weekend.

Mines been quite hetic too.

Had to fly to Aberdeen at the weekend for my Aunt’s funeral. She was 90 and managed to keep fit and well til the very end. She is the only person I know that has never had a days illness in her life, never been in hospital and did her own shopping 2 days before she died. I am really glad we had her down {Hampshire} in the summer to spend time with her.

Got back late last eve and had to take my scruffy pooch early this morn for an interview with a new dog sitter and yes he did embarass us both by piddling on her carpet… but she still agreed to have him next weekend. OH and me had booked 2 weeks hols off but have decided to do a couple of long weekends. this one to cornwall just before my 3rd chemo session.

Then had to go and have the picc line flushed so though I may as well do a food shop, then both daughters decided to ring for a long chat… one after the other so still sitting her with odd bits of shopping to put away I hate that bit.

Now it’s time to think about tea, where has the day gone. Might just have time for a cuppa with a mag and feet up before hubby comes home.

Hope all is well with all of you girlies.

Love to you all

Lyndsey X

Hi Everyone

I had my Grosham line put in yesterday, I couldnt have a canular put in so a doctor came and put it in using ultra sound (he was really nice) I must say I was dreading it. They tried 5 times for the canular and I am glad I now have the line it stresses me out when they try.

The line is a bit uncomfortable but I have read a couple of other threads and it seems they calm down within a week. I have my 2nd FEC this afternoon and hope the side effects are less than last time, the oncologist has increased my anti sickness.

Kelly: you are so good personallising comments -thanks

I hope you ladies are all doing well, thanks for being there
