Morning all!
I hope everyone is ok.
Chemo goers - I hope all goes well and may your side effects be almost non-existent.
Mel - I hope you’re feeling better and you get the blood transfusion today if you need it. Fingers crossed you’ll be feeling well enough to go tomorrow, looking forward to meeting you! I will prob wear tracky’s, bit fat for 'em but my jeans are not particularly comfy these days due to my ever expanding waist line!!
Lyndsey - I’m glad your aunts funeral went ok. Nice to see you back with us.
Lesley50 - I hope your chemo goes well and I’m glad you feel better now you’ve shaved your head.
Well, I’ll have to keep it short and sweet for now as I am off to my local support centre in a mo for one of my free complementary therapy sessions. Having a right pampering week this week, what with that today and the healthy living day tomorrow!!
I hope you are all ok,
Take care,
Kelly

Hi Everyone
Lesley 50 best of luck with your chemo today, Kelly enjoy being pampered. Hope everyone else is well.
It’s really foggy here, drive to work this morning was quite spooky. Only working till lunchtime as i have my MRI this afternoon. Please keep everything crossed that it shows up the tumour and succeeds where the ultra sound and mamo failed. If it doesn’t we will have to rely on how it feels. Must admit I’m a bit nervous.
Also feeling quite breathless today, hope it doesn’t ,mean my counts low as chemo again next week. I need to go shopping and buy something pink. Work is having a pink day in aid of breast cancer care on Friday. My kids think i should let them paint my head pink and i should go bald and proud, think i am too much of a chicken. Don’t quite know how i will cope with it being so in my face. Everyone has been ultra sensitive to the point of asking if i would be offended if they made booby cakes. Close friends are great but everyone else tip toes around the issue. My cancer has became a bit like an elephant in the room, just wish they would loosen up a bit.
Anyway thanks for the moan, better get some work done before i have to go.,
Hope everyone has a good day, or at least not too bad.
Lesley

Hallo everyone
Glad it all seems to be going well for us al at the moment. It is a nasty day again isn’t it? For me it will be another quiet one I think. But joinng in the good news am less achey today, and have also lost another few pounds - yippee. Once I can eat again am gong to have so much fun growing back into my clothes.
Well done working LesleyHe. Your colleagues actually sound great to care so much about possibly upsetting you. Always good to ask I reckon rather than make a huge faux pas. And Lesley50 - glad the shaving has helped a bit. There is something about control in there I think. There certainly was for me.
Hope everyone has a good day
Much love

Hi All,
Well my bloods were on boarderline but the decided against giving me a blood transfusion and put me on more meds instead!!!
Still having problems with energy levels - coffee, choc, lucozade and even red bull is only giving me short bursts!
Anyway must stop winging and just get on withit! Sun is out day has nearly gone, cant believe it! Kids have been ace - love em.
Lindsay - hope you are well!
Lesley - hope chemo went ok and you are feeling not to bad, I also have breathless moments - usually at the checkout lol Yes people are worried that they are going to say the wrong thing - I usualy crack the first joke and mates usually either think im totally mad and laugh or are shocked that I can laugh! But what else can we do - not let it get to us!!!
Dilys - glad to hear about he weight loss - mine just keeps creeping on and Im trying to be so good (well not to good) Cherry lips seem to be the only thing that gets rid of this gross taste in my mouth or cherry drops!
Kelly - I am hoping to get there tomorrow! Bit nervous in meeting strangers but I am going in my comfy knock about jeans! so fingers crossed should be ok!
Dawn - hope you are well have not chatted to you what seems ages!
Ali - Hope that you are also well!

Hi all,
well I had an awesome complementary therapy session today. It was Reiki, and I’ve never had it before. I was sooooo relaxed at the end, felt like I was floating! Going back for another next week, lovely!!!
Lynne - a huge welcome to our thread, you are more than welcome to join in, we’re getting bigger and bigger!! LOL!!
Mel - I hope to see you there tomorrow, so long as you are feeling up to it. I reckon I’m gonna look well scruffy, but my tracky bottoms are so comfy. How will we know who each other are?? I’m just gonna ask everyone if they are mel999 I reckon!!
Dilys - I am glad you are less achy today, any sign of that sleep hat?? Great news re the weight loss, thats assuming you need to lose weight. Blimey, I could do with losing a few stone I reckon!!
LesleyHe - I really hope your MRI went ok, I’ve got everything crossed for you. I hope your ‘pink day’ at work goes ok on friday. I must admit, when I heard that Oct was gonna be breast cancer awareness month I was quite worried that it would be in my face constantly, so I can understand how you are feeling.
Ali, Dawn & Lyndsey - How you girls doin today??
Well, thats about all from me really. Just seen our house on the est agents website, god I hope we get some viewings asap!!!
Take care all, see you tomorrow I hope Mel,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
Wearing comfy fat jeans with a pink top - most likely a black bandana with as much slap on I can manage without me looking like a clown!!!
I will probably ask everyone if there a princess or not…
Oh God!!!
What next
Glad to hear you are floating - me too but thats down to the red bull…
Love

Hope you girls have a good day tomorrow - be interesting to meet up. Have fun!!!
I feel knackered tonight. It has been a full on day with small people and we took them to see an equestrian show called ‘The Spirit of the Horse’ it was quite good, but tonight I want nothing more than a bath and my PJ’s…2 more days of kiddie stuff, I normally love half term - but this week has been harder than most, I think the fatigue is setting in now I am nearing the endof chemo…I’ll try the Red Bull too tomorrow I reckon.
Hope everyone is OK.
Love and hugs

Hi Everyone
Got back from chemo at 4.30 they changed my sickness med and so far so however have that metal taste in the mouth so who knows.
I think its great this thread is like a mini soap opera, I work in a call centre and once one of the girls in my team said she would like to write a play on staff in call centre, perhaps we should have one “having chemo”!!!
Love to you all

Hi All
Good to hear that everyone is doing OK.
Mel and Kelly, hope you have a fab time tomorrow - am sooooooooooooooo jealous and wish could come along too. Mel hope you are doing OK after your scare and good to hear you don’t need a blood transfusion. Glad the kids behaving too … although mine are too, but roll on next week.
Lynne, welcome to you too - join in as much as you like. This thread is getting bigger and bigger. Having trouble remember whos who and who’s doing what nowadays … but it is good fun.
Kelly, hope the house sale is looking good for you, although could you not part ex at all? We did that with the last house we have. Anyway, hope you have had some viewings though and you get a buyer soon. Sounds like you had a fab day.
Ali - am with you about half term, and can’t wait for Monday, although then means my next tax session is coming round quick too, as next wednesday. Hope you have been having some fun though. We have managed to be out 3 out of 3 days so far, although my poor friend had both mine today for an hour with her own two, so two 3 year olds and 2 under 1!!! But she coped well. Had to go see my onc … more at the bottom about that.
Dilys glad to hear that you are feeling better and wow - good news on the weight front. I seemed to have put on another 3lb since my last chemo session, so now weighing 9stone 4lbs!!! Reckon it is piling on, so will have to sort it out when finished, but not actually that bothered right now. Gotta keep my strenght up for all this chemo crap!!!
Lesley50, hopefully you won’t suffer much and the metallic mouth does go away somewhat.
LesleyHe hope your mri scan went ok and am keeping everything crossed for you that the results are good.
Anyway, can’t remember anyone else, and if I have forgotten you and so sorry.
Today had to have a lovely smear test, but the nurse was so lovely and nice to me. She took so much time talking to me about my chemo and my cancer, and said if I ever need to talk then can call her, as got no-one around really apart from my friends. She didn’t even realise my hair was a wig - now that was so good!!! But it was actually really nice talking to someone who doesn’t know me as such and she said how positive I was about it all.
Then had to see my oncologist today too, but alas, he really wasn’t interested in talking to me, he sat on his arse, in another room while his registrar came to talk to me. Apparently my lumps have shrunk, and when I asked how much, said he didn’t know!!! Very non-committal these lot. Going to get me to have ultrasound on liver and then can assess whether can have ablation or resection (but if say no, we are definitely going for second opionion). I asked about Herceptin, apparently am sensitive to it, but have to do something called a FISH test (what the blimin eck that is I have no idea) and if that is positive, herceptin here I come. But apparently Herceptin does not have a barrier to stop it any spreads up to the brain. Uummmmmm
What else … can I drink alcohol - yep in small doses, as won’t have much affect on my liver to be a worry … not had a drink since 26 July!!! Saw went out and bought a bottle of wine, but not opened it yet, probably wait for weekend!!! Masectomy - not an option as on my liver, so wouldn’t make no difference, think he meant wouldn’t make a diff to my life expectancy, but didn’t wanna say that.
Anyway, think that about covers it - didn’t really come out feeling great, rather deflated actually, as not giving much away for me. But hey ho - there is shrinkage which is good news, so hopefully means liver responding same way.
Hope I haven’t depressed anyone too much. If any of you are still awake that is …
Have a great day tomorrow everyone, esp. Mel and Kelly … let us know ALL about it.
Take care all
Lots of Love
Dawn

Oh Dawn
I am glad you got shrinkage but to feel Ho Hum Deflated is not good!!! I have never heard of FISH my onc said I just was HER2+ and need herceptin mmmmm why cant we all just get honest responses and not holding back - I find that worse sometimes. Sending you a big hug and yes I wish you were coming today but we will meet - promise … I am a scorpio and we stick yo our promises!! Have a good day OH got kids lolol poor bloke.
Catch everyone later
xx Hugs
xxMel
Hi Dawn
Well first things first - crack open that wine…I reckon you need one of them! I don’t like the sound of your Onc, they don’t seem particularly organised - they should have a bit more info on your shrinkage really. Good news though that it has shrunk, but I know myself I want hard facts and figures to back that statement up!! Glad you are thinking about 2nd opinions, I think that’s important if you are not happy with the treatment/decisions you are given. Too many people just go along with it all. Bless you, what a nightmare - you sound quite upbeat though - don’t know how you do it sometimes.
Never heard of the FISH test, but good luck with that!
Take care of yourself, half term nearly done so hang in there…but yes that does mean next chemo here too…but for me it’s the last one a week Friday, so I don’t mind so much this time.
Hope everyone else is OK
Love and hugs

Hi Ladies,
Kelly & Mel - Have a wonderful time today, bet it will be wierd meeting your cyber buddies?
Ali & Dawn - oh I dont envy you with half term, Ive just rang my mum whos looking after my sisters two(7 & 5) and I can here them screaming away in the lounge! If I was babysitting I would have firm electricians tape over mouths and a dvd in hand for them to watch!LOL
Lesles & Lesley - hoping your ok with your side effects and scan results.
Where has LeeUk gone too? she was on this thread at some point wasnt she?
Have a good day ladies.

Hi everyone
Dawn great news that it’s shrunk and that you can have a glass of wine, lets hope the livers gone the same way.
Lesley50 glad you feel a bit better about your hair, it’s a horrible time.
Kelly and Mel let us know how today goes.
Lynne, Dylis, Ali, Dawn, Lee and anyone else i have missed hope today is a good day.
Typing this at work while eating my sandwich, can’t be bothered to leave the office still feeling a bit breathless, hope this picks up before chemo next week.
MRI well what can i say, one of the most undignified procedures yet. you have to strip off, wig and all and lie face down on the bed inserting your boobs into two cup like things which have wires round them. also had to be injected with contrast which breast nurse had said i didn’t. Even worse they had to use a pink cannula because of the rate of flow. my veins don’t like anything bigger than yellows just now. I was inside the machine for about 20/25 minutes. Very glad to get out.
The good news is that for the first time something had showen up the b****y tumour so no they can get a volume measurement. The consultant radiologist was great and said that they should do more MRI’s particularly for younger women have neoadjuvant chemo. he explained how it is a good predictor of the efficacy of chemo and of likelihood of remaining disease free.
So plan is to have another MRI after next chemo. He said ideally should have happened before i started but hey ho at least they have done it now. Being the exceptionally curious need answers person that i am have done a bit of research and have found some interesting articles on this topic that intend to ask onc about when i see him next week.
They also told me that my tumour is much smaller than the initial manual measurements and that my other breast is cl;ear so whopeee.
Any way better get on, about to meet with boss to discuss strategy for some meetings tomorrow and whether i have any competition for the job i have applied for.
Hope the rest of the day is good to you.
Lesley

Hi All
Lesley and Dawn - I think that sounds like good news for both of you? Even if unsatisfactory and undignified. suppose we are all different in that havng had the mastectomy first I have no tumour to measure shrinkage on. It must be a real worry though. Definitely crack that wine open Dawn.
Mel and Kelly - hope you do manage to meet up today. It should be great. Let us know how you get on! And no, the sleep cap has gone for good. I bought some cheap 8 way headbands from Glitz4girls and they do the job nicely at night now. I can only think that I accidentally threw it out with the rubbish or something. Advanced chemo brain!
Still got the vile taste and not eating but don’t care any more. I am going out today though as am getting slightly stir crazy hanging round the house, and need a good kick to get going again.
Just got my inflation appointment through for Monday!
Loads of love to all
