Mel and Kelly glad you had a great time and managed to meet up with each other - dead jealous there though, as would be great to meet all you invisible ladies!!! Have to let us know later on exactly what you did yesterday, as think I am a bit mixed up cos wasn’t the look good day was it? Bet it was weird meeting at last though, and as Lynne said, did you look like each other imagined?
Kelly, any news on the house front too?
Dilys, hope you are feeling better today too and getting over that last chemo!!!
Ali, both Lesleys, Lee and Lynne - hope you are all ok and doing well and looking forward to your weekends.
Not much to report here, still toying with getting second opinion and/or writing to my onc to tell him how dissatisfied I am feeling. Looking forward to next week when school returns and get a few hours peace again on a morning.

Good afternoon ladies!
Well, I had an awesome time yesterday, it was lovely to meet Mel (or should I say maxine?? They got her name wrong!). Mel is very much like me, loud and plenty to say!! We had a right laugh, felt like I’d known you for ages Mel, was great meeting you. I’ll be round to use that hot tub of yours soon as I finish rads!! I got home in just over an hour, traffic was great and I was well chuffed.
The day was great, many thanks to bcc. It started with a dietician, who was actually really interesting and informative. Except a rather annoying woman kept butting in and interrupting her every 30 seconds!! Then we had a talk about the value of exercise and even did a few exercises!! Trouble was one of them involved a balloon and I hate balloons so was a bit of a baby. Me and Mel drew the line at the little jogging session though and sat down! Lunch was lovely, ate plenty!! After lunch we split into 2 groups for complementary therapy. We had reflexology and then relaxation, it was awesome!!! Even got free choccie bars to take home!! Oh, and we discovered a chocolate fountain on the way out so dipped a few jelly babies in it, yum!!
Dawn - Sorry to hear your onc is being a bit of a pain, not what you need right now eh. I reckon you should get cracking on that wine, you certainly deserve it. I shall be cracking open a bottle myself later! Unfortunately our house is ex local authority and Wimpey don’t part-ex them.
Dilys - I hope you managed to get out and about as planned. Hope all goes well for your inflation.
Ali - Not long now 'til you finish chemo, good on 'ya.
Lesley’s, Lee, Lyndsey & Lynne (should just say ‘all the L’s’) - How you all doin? Any nice plans for the weekend?
Well, been v.v.busy cleaning the house this morning. Rumour has it we may get a few viewings this weekend so wanted to make sure it was spotless!! It was 'til OH came home for lunch, bless him! Hoping the est agent isn’t telling us fibs, and we do actually get some viewings this weekend. Our house is now on ‘Right Move’ and in the paper so we’ve got a wide audience now at least.

Well that sounds like a brilliant day indeed. I am so glad that you and Mel found each other and got on so well. Hot tub indeed Mel??? How lovely. And are you both now going to stick to a new exercise regime? Personally I like the sound of the relaxation. Thnk you might need some of that Kelly while you show people round your house this weekend! I really hope someone takes a real interest and makes an offer.
Things are movng here. I had a phone call from Barts Hospital this morning giving me my first planning appointment for radiotherapy on 15th November! Have to be inflated fully before actual rads (and presumably all the marking up) can be done so if they think it can be that quick then yippee! I can even may be may be start planning the holiday for next year - like so many of us I had to cancel the one for this year for obvious reasons!

Hi All,
Been a bit emtional today (lack of sleep0 I even tried doing the relaxing techniques they showed us yesterday - I just ended up getting up a 5am as normal!!!
I had a letter today from the disabilty allowance people and basically Im not ill enough to get any help - so thats the end of that then. Just feel so angry that I have worked all my life never signed on never asked for help before, it was only in the lasy 4 yrs that I went part time so I could do colege courses to better myself, and because I did this and not acrued enough NI I get no help!!! Should have left school and signed on - sorry for the moan just so mad grrrrrrrrrrrrrr…
Anyway Yes I do have a hot tub and I love it it is such a fab way to relax and wind down with a glass of red - might be in it tonight!
Dilys - Eating has never been a problem for me - quite the opposite! Hope you are feeling better and things speed along nicely for you.
Dawn - The Look Good feel Better is in Fan 08. They are also running a Young womens Forum weekend in Feb 08 which I will also being doing (Birmingham) It was weird meeting Kelly but I did not really have and imagine except a bubbly person which Kelly is! And yes it did feel like we had known each other for ages I felt we just clicked. We will meet up to in 08 when we are doing better! I hope ypu are ok and even though I have enjoyed having the kids at home I to am looking forward to next week. My daughter will be 8 on Monday and I feel that I need to cherish every birthday at the moment then its mine thursday then chem the following thursday!
Kelly - Not sure how that got from melanie to maxine!!! cant believe ypu mentioned the chocolate fountain and jelly babies lolol! I hope you get those veiwings I just know it is going to work out right! I got a set of those exercise bands (set of 3) from Argos in different strengths for 4.99! good fun!!

Ali - Your nearly there - I cant wait till I get to that stage! to me that would be stage 1 over then stage 2 (op) stage 3(rads, herceptin possibly tax)

God that must be annoying with the disability. Especially when you aren’t a “claimer” in the first place. Deep breaths and get into that hot tub! Good thing you had a lovely day yesterday then. Have to say I haven’t even bothered trying it as I am sure they would say no. Could be we all look too well!

We have had such a busy week - be so glad to get Emily back to school though and back to routine…I have done no h*usework this week and we have been out every day, like you Dawn I am looking forward to my mornings when Thomas is asleep and I can catch up on jobs and have a coffee!!!
Have a problem with my Mother though - I had to take her to the Breast Care Unit on Tuesday as she was recalled following her Mammogram - she is 73 but still decided to go. She has changes since her last mammo and they THINK it just calcification, but have done biopsy etc and results are due in on Weds…can’t believe it, I was sitting up there thinking here we go again - saw the BCN and she was v.surprised to see me…talk about deja vu. Oddly I don’t feel worried - almost to the point of being blasé. My immediate reaction was…‘I can’t cope with this’ not because I am worried about her - but purely from a selfish point of view - I am an only child and my Dad died 10 years ago - with 2 small kids and my own problems, I am not sure I can get her through treatment too. Feeling guilty for feeling like this - but that is what I think, can’t help it.

I am so sorry about your mum. Let’s hope it is something and nothing. Don’t get me started about mine, who died nearly four yearvago now but was in dementia for a year or so beforehand. Don’t feel guilty. Just do what you can and do not beat yourself up. Your mum would not want that at all.

Well, Im hoping that this weekend goes quickly as my boss(who also may as well be my mum, in fact I call her mum number 2) goes to get her results of Core Biopsy etc on Monday. I really pray shes ok. I know she has posted on here but Im not supposed to have figured that one out as she hasnt told me as such.
As for me, ive spent the entire evening playing tiger woods on the Wii which was fun. I think this weekend, me and OH are going for a walk along the river bank in Durham and maybe a wander into the cathedral which is wonderful.
Lesley, Lesley, Lee & Dawn - I hope your all doing ok.

I noticed that with taxotere when I start that next round they double the steroids…??? Did you all do that? I don’t think I can handle that as that is what makes me feel so terrible with the FEC… honestly I don’t think I can.

They doubled mine at FEC #2 (4 tablets) and I stopped feeling so sick and was OK. Then I kept the same dose for Taxotere - it just kept me awake and gave me that attractive steroid ‘glow’ with red cheeks - nice!!!

Sooo glad it’s the weekend been a hard week at work. On a positive note found out that no one else has applied for the job i am in for. Could have done without it just now but i know i would kick myself when all this is over if i hadn’t appplied.
Ali I am really sorry to hear about your mum, i hope every thing is ok, you must be so worried. You must be also really worried about your mum no 2. Timing sucks. My boss who is also a friend lost her cousin to BC after a 5 years on the day of my dx. She was also called Lesley, it’s quite hard for her with me.
Kelly Hope you manage to get lots of viewings and that you can stop having to keep the house immaculate…
Mel the hot tub sounds great, don’t know how that would work with the scottish weather.
Lee, i haven’t had any experience of taxotere but others have managed and i am sure you will too. I hate the steriods don’t sleep for the first 4 days after treatment

Morning All,
Just a quick hello as I have been persuaded to go to the cinema with the kids! Go knows how I am going to keep awake or even concentrate!!!
All is well here - I have finally calmed down… red wine & hoit tub does help! and as for using one in the Scottish weather, apparently the colder the outside it is better when you are in!! longs you remember you cap! Ours is partailly covered and protected from the elements during winter months.

Morning all!
I hope we are all fine and dandy on this very dreary saturday morning. Well, we have our first viewing at 2.30!!! Est agent rang bang on 9 when they opened, just as I was thinking ‘god I hope they ring soon’, Weird!! Anyway, its an investor which is just the sort of buyer we are looking for really, so please keep everything crossed for us! Neighbours have just had a right old ding-dong so I’m glad no one was viewing then!
OH is playing golf with his mates from work this morning, bless him. I think at some point we are off to the housing development again! Its another ‘easy mover’ weekend this weekend and I’ve been promised bucks fizz so we’re off!!
Ali - I’m so sorry to hear about both your mum, I’ve got everything crossed for her!! Do let us know how she gets on.

Mel - I’ve grassed you right up about your hot tub haven’t I! LOL!! I hope you have a great time at the cinema, providing you manage to stay awake! Glad you found the red wine and hot tub to be very therapeutic, sounds awesome to me! I had the most amazing nights sleep last night after I practised some of those relaxation techniques we were taught, it defo works!

Lee - yup, they do increase the steroids on taxotere. I think it is to do with preventing water retention. My chemo unit always checked very carefully that I took them, so go with the flow!
Ali - you feeling any better about your mum? Fingers crossed.
Lynne - a walk in Durham, how lovely. I was at university there about 100 years ago. I loved it. Hope the sun comes out for you (it has gone into hiding here)

Well I survived the piccies! Good film “the dark is rising” kids enjoyed it then we hit pizza hut for a big family meal deal mmmmmmmmmmmm told you I had no appetite priblems! I did have a fidget problem???

Dunno where the time has gone and why not posting, just been busy, but not sure doing what.
Kelly - hope the viewing(s) went OK today and that you have more tomorrow - it is awful waiting for viewings and then not knowing whats going on. Hopefully you will get some good news.
Mel, hope you are good today and sounds like you enjoyed the cinema and the pizza. I have no probs with appetite either. Your hot tub sounds lurverly - bet you have some stories to tell there too. Sorry to hear you didn’t get your DLA through - did your onc not send the DS1500 for you? Thought it was automatic if that was sent. Sometimes the system in this country drives me mad, and I could rant on for ages, but won’t.
Dilys - hope you are good today and not been rushing around too much, doing lots of things.
Not sure about the steroids with taxotere, I have the same to take again, with the two lots of 4 tablets on Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday … and then presuming the norm when get there, or am I missing something? Do get the nice red flushed look though, makes me look well healthy!!!
Both Lesleys and Lynne hope you are all doing OK and enjoying your weekends so far, although think the weather is supposed to be yuk tomorrow - but you never know.
Ali, hope you are OK too, not really had a good chat lately, but seen posts and seems like you are all ok. Let me know.

For some reason I am wide awake! Went out for a quick drink tonight for the first time since last Saturday. Sometimes wonder why I bother! Friends worrying abiut a cold. Friends worrying about a pulled muscle. Ho hum. Keeps my mind off it all!

I start the tax next chemo… for 3 of those… they gave me steroids to take the day before and there is eight… says take 2 x day… so that’s 4 at a time I suppose…eeeeeeeew I do dread it as I can barely write my name when I am taking it soooo jittery…but if that’s what it takes I can and will do it!
Gosh it is dark here this morning… that Sunday afternoon nap will be nice!
