Happy birthday Twinky - have a lovely day xxx
Hi Clare - hope your infusion goes well. I’m having fun with a neighbouring cat (I think) and my Clare-drops! I planted at them (in the green) at the end of Jan but they keep getting dug up and moved!! It can’t be my cats, they don’t go out unsupervised! I don’t think that they will flower this year now but my crocus have at least!
Happy Birthday Twinky, glad you are up to having small celebrations!
Axx
Lovely day here, sunshine 3 days in a row??? It’s fab!
Clare keep resting those legs, the movie The Help is released today on dvd so going later to get it, read the book so looking forward to the movie, anyone seen it?
Hoppy birthday Twinky (Ref to your bunnies) xx
Happy birthday Twinks at least you will taste your cake today…yumy yum cake…wonderful. St? Eroid to make sure you get your just large piece. Nice.
It is sooo good when that chemo ffog lifts. Silly thing to say but take extra care of those precious low neuts. Air kisses are “in” cuddles out without the dreaded jel. At least the weather is warm enough to sit outside to have a drink. Is it the pub at the bottom of the flight your going too?
Rev Cat my friend lives In Emberton not far from Ravenstone where My OHs’s cousins both lived in Barn Convertions. The family Braca and ovarian struck them three years ago and last year. Poor girls they lost their mother in her late thirties.
I must motivate myself into cleaning out the cupboard under the stairs. Lots of lost treasures to be found!!! I haven’t done it for about twenty tears!! Lazy woman
Spiders here I come!!!
Cackles
oooh Cackles, Emberton Park - remember it well now you mention it. So sorry it has tragic associations for your friends though
Happy Birthday Twinky!
Clare I hope you made the most of the sunshine. Unfortunately I am working
RevCat, once on a business trip to Scotland, I had a conversation with a taxi driver (as you do). I told him (with my French accent) that every time I am in Scotland, I have glorious weather. Even when I was there on holiday. He told me that it is always sunny in Scotland but it is just the Scots telling the English that it is always raining in Scotland to keep them away.
I can check his theory again out in a couple of weeks, when I am in Glasgow for work.
I need to clock off work early to enjoy a few rays.
Vercors… ah, I see. But I’m an English girl in Scotland… would I lie to you all?!
Ooh ooh cackles don’t let the spiders out please! Lunch was great (Folly Inn at Napton). Never disappointed with the food there. Am very stuffed now after a big slice of chocolate birthday cake. Shattered too so flopped on the bed as all visitors have now departed & watching Pointless. Hoppy Birthday…very clever, made me laugh! The bunnies in question have spent the day in the garden &show no signs of wanting to come in!
Hair definitely on the way out. Scalp starting to get sensitive, mat in the plug hole, tufts rather than just stray hairs on the hot brush. Not sorted out how/where/who will shave my head. I lose hubby tomorrow morning so he can’t help. Will sleep on it. Any local volunteers with clippers?
Yawn…definitely need a nap!
Hugs to all
Twinky x
So enjoy reading all your antics.
RevCat I have only ever known the sun to shine in Scotland but I haven’t been that often and I think I’ve been very lucky.
Annie nice to see you the right way up. Our large over enthusiastic Retriever keeps the cats away but I had bantams (sadly appropriated by Mr Fox last spring) who would follow me around at bulb planting time and then helpfully dig them all up. My treat this week is to go and buy chickens, it will be lovely to have them again.
Cackles and Clare getting West End tickets was posh, they didn’t get as far as Lewisham Hospital where I trained. Although we did get invites to the Royal Navy parties at Greenwich to even up the sexes.
Clare, do you think your friend would pick up posh sarnies and cake and come to you. If you are going to worry about going out it will not be a pleasure.
Happy birthday Twinky, I had a mission on chemo to eat in the last good week everything I missed in the first two rubbish ones. Enjoy cake
Lots of love to all on this calming funny and loving thread. Julia xxx
I’ve had a couple of days away from here and there’s so much to catch up on. Nice reading the newsy posts.
Had a great weekend spent with my OH and our two dau’s. Saturday we went shopping and then slobbed about chatting and eating. Yesterday we took advantage of the wonderful sunny weather and went for a riverside walk at a local market town (Knaresborough), saw a beautiful show of daffodils and primula, and came across a pet graveyard with elaborate headstones, very bizarre!! In the evening we had another enjoyable dinner followed by a game of trivial pursuit. My elder dau has gone back south today but will be coming up again next month.
Hope your infusion went well Clare, was it chemo or something else? Thanks so much for your well wishes re metaplastic BC, I’m getting my head round it now and feeling calm again - best way I think (inspired by you, and your courage)
What seeds are you planting? I trimmed back my winter pansies a couple of weeks ago and they are now starting to flower again and smile at me, I love them. Once they’ve finished they’ll be replaced with summer flowering ones.
I’m sure Aisling’s day out with friends did her the world of good, once she’s used to socialising there will be no holding her back!
Wonderful sunny weather again today, OH and I went out walking for a gentle stroll, we were out for about an hour at a local beauty spot where the Japanese flowering cherry trees looked spectacular - what a sight.
Twinky, I hope you enjoyed your birthday celebration. Happy birthday (sorry, a bit late) and have a great evening. Make the most of taste buds this week.
I hope all Claredropper-ins’ are well and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Hugs to all.

Lots of news to catch-up on and just finished reading the ;last couple of days events.
Go for the long shots Clare! you never know! I’m off to the garden centre tomorrow but as we’ve still got lots of clearing and prep to do I must try to resist buying too much. Just ordered my Mum a flowering cherry tree for Mothers Day, she’s never had a garden but my parents moved to a new flat with a patio a couple of years ago so I thought she’d like to look out of her kitchen window at blossom. Going to try to sort out some other plants for the patio too, was meant to do it when they moved but then got my secondary dx and it rather threw all my plans…!!
Twinky, Happy Birthday!sounds like you had a good day and lunch sounds lovely, have a nice restful evening and hope you sleep well.
CM, hope that things have improved and you are less stressed this week.
Love to everyone else on this thread, enjoy the lovely weather - Rev, I’m sure it will reach you soon! xx
Evening all,
My we all have been busy bees today…bought on by the lovely sunshine, I expect. It does make you feel better when its a bit warmer. We were very slow to get the sun as we had such heavy fog but shine it did, eventually.
I didn’t really want to go out today after only grabbing about 3 hours sleep the night before but the thought of staying in and waiting for 3pm drove me out and to be honest as soon as I got out in the fresh air I knew it was worth it. We went to a favourite garden centre of mine about 8 miles away in Yarnton. It has wheelchairs too, which is good. Had a lovely time browsing the clothes, plants and antiques and had a nice lunch out too. I bought some primulars to fianlly plant my kitchen window boxes up ( they have been sadly neglected) I bought yellow and a soft mauve colour with the outer edging just tinged with white, beautiful :o)
I am planting sweetpea seeds and nasturstiums tomorrow, have to soak the sweetpeas ones over night as it helps them to germinate quicker.
I had a phone call from the restaurant and the bloke there, I guess was slightly challenged in the general knowledge department (giving him benefit of the doubt) asked me exactly what a carver chair was!!! DOH!!! He didn’t have any so thats off the list and we have sorted out another place, where I know I can get out of LoL. So all systems go and not fretting anymore.
The infusion I have is zolicacid for my bones, it seems to be keeping my calcium count at bay, anyway so I am happy to take it. Today there was not hanging around, we got there early and were seen pretty quickly and we were out by 3.30pm :o) so it was back to mine for a jigsaw and a lovely well deserve cuppa.
I hope you all had a lovely day too, sorry too tired to go through everyones day…poor excuse, I know, sorry.
My legs have grown again after just a sneaking glimps of ankle bone yesterday, I had high hopes… but hopefully they wont be too bad for tomorrow. On wednesday I see the lymphodema clinic who hopefully will be of help and also I am booked in for a massage at the hospice where I hope to join the gardening class as m,y friend Jenny runs it, so it will give us a chance to catch up and I can see her do her stuff.
Sleep well everyone, I hope too as finally I have my sleeping pills :O) :o) so fingers crossed for a goodnights sleep.
luv to you all

Clare, I love Sweet Peas, their perfume is wonderful and their colours gorgeous. Nasturtiums I like too and they taste good in a salad, the leaves have a peppery taste, the flowers are edible and look pretty in a salad - as a gardener I’m sure you know that. Used to enjoy looking for caterpillars’ under Nasturtium leaves when a child. Your garden is going to look so pretty - another goal for you to aim for. Sounds a lovely garden centre which you visited, very user friendly with wheelchairs 10/10 for them.
Good to hear you are now looking forward to lunch tomorrow with the lady you used to work with, you can catch up on gossip! Don’t forget your shewee.
I’m questioning whether mother nature has a warped sense of humour! I’m still waiting for eyebrows and lashes to make an appearance and my head is still almost bald BUT my leg hair is growing like grass, how unfair is that?
Ah, so your infusion is to strengthen your bones Clare, hope you feel the benefit tomorrow (does it work so quickly?).
Another jigsaw, what’s the picture? My elder dau is addicted to jigsaws however her gorgeous cat likes to try and join in, as you can imagine it’s fun and games and jigsaws never get completed, pieces are found all around her house, we forgive him though as he’s so adorable, well adorable when not bringing pigeons and rats home as presents!
I do hope you sleep well tonight, Clare. You need your beauty sleep for tomorrow’s outing.
Sweet dreams to all.

I have no idea what the time is but I am awake again. We has two couples to supper last night all very last minute and relaxed. I had a side of salmon in the freezer which I hadn’t used at Christmas. So I popped a soy orange and ginger marinade on it and shoved it in the oven with dauphinois potatoes and served a large salad with it .As for puddings Clare I cheated and did pancakes plus banana brûlée just like the ones I took to your house.
It was to take one couples mind off the appointment at Oxford tomorrow re newly diagnosed Ca prostate. Poor chap, what a nuisance all this worry is.
I was a big brave girl and went without the wig for the first time. It is still too short really but who cares! Poor Twinky I so feel for you. That is such a horrible phase. To have a sensitive head and go bald is no fun. The Folly Inn is good. We will pop in there when we take the boat to Marlow in April.
You have inspired me Libby, Julie and Clare. I will take mother to the garden centre on Wednesday and get some colour into the garden. We haven’t quite had wall to wall sunshine like you Katie and RevCat. My washing is still on the line because the mist didn’t lift for long yesterday.
Vecors I might bump into you in dear old Glasgow Town.
Annie have you got squirrels? We had 109 mole hills , amazingly hard work for the mole and not too good for my lawn!!!
Hugs
Cackles
Cackles your making me hungry!
Your all such keen gardners and mine looks like a mass of tangled weeds and undergrowth with a few shrubs here and there and some odd bulbs pop up. It used to be full of flowers and colour but it’s been tge last thing on my mind the last few years and I find it very tiring and not fun
May just find some seeds and chuck them in there to see if I can get some life back into it… Maybe have to deweed it a bit first though… I love sweet peas and nurturtiums… Have lots of wild columbines which are pretty but not a lot else.
Hope your legs improve again Clare.
Night all xxxx
Cackles - I hadn’t thought about squirrels, I’ve never seen any in our garden. I will ask our elderly neighbours when I see them.
Clare - you have given me ideas for Mothers Day too!
Axx
Glad you had a good day Clare and are relaxed now about where you are going for lunch. Still living a very busy life, no wonder you’re so tired. But, why not? It all sounds like you are having a fab time, long may it last - and you get to see those seeds grow I hope the visit to the lymphodema nurse gives good results and some easing to your poor legs. Also the trip to the hospice for your massage and the gardening club both sound good for the body and soul
We have a very good garden centre near us, also supplying wheelchairs, and their selection of primulas is stunning, colours I’ve never seen before. One in particular sounds like the lilac one you saw, but it was a brighter blue. I took my Mum there the other week when she was over staying for a few days. I resisted buying at that time because the garden needed a good tidy but, once I’d got Mum to do that it’s all systems go ha ha. I was very pleased with myself as I moved a peony which was just coming back to life, out from under a shrub, and it’s doing really well, I know they don’t like to be moved at all so I’m so glad I’ve not lost it. Other than that I’ve started on some veg planting. We put in some raised veg beds last year so this is the first year the veg will be ‘free’, last year they cost a fortune to buy and fill with compost. Early potatoes in and a few lines of Chantery carrots and baby spinach seeded. Let’s hope the mild weather will bring them on quickly.
Hoping you have a bright day today, Clare and everyone.

we have too many squirrels - they dig up my crocus bulbs, aconite bulbs… anything! And my DD’s dog digs for fun - bought a packet of animal deterrant last week, and left it on a coffee table (having shown OH what I’d bought). DD’s dog ate through the box! However, he didn’t puncture the powder sachets, so I am HOPING they work. OH has built a GRED (half greenhouse half shed) and we sowed seeds at the weekend. My pack of sweet peas specifically said NOT to soak overnight, so we’ll see…
Lymph nurse and garden club sounds great Clare - it’s SO good that you are enjoying stuff (and the window boxes will be great) love Jane
Clare keep those feet up! Quite a lot of stores have wheelchairs now which is great, cause you can still get out and about without tiring yourself too much.
Love sweetpeas too but failed with them, because we had a big garden and a wood next door where lots and lots of bunnies lived, they thought we were planting them especially for them to chew on.
We ended up just planting things that the rabbits didn’t munch and anything special had wire around it!
Sun is trying today not here yet though and it was freezing late yesterday afternoon Brrrrrrrrr. xx
