I am in a really surreal place.........

I’m in for a spot of lunch!

Clare I’m really sorry your Bcn isn’t up to scratch… There are usually more than one in each team so if you two don’t gel there may well be another Bcn who is more your style… I had one fab one when first diagnosed then with second diagnosis i got a nice enough but kinda abrupt, matter of fact type person next and just wasn’t my cup of tea… So changed her for a really lovely warm Bcn who I could tell my innermost secrets to.

Glad you got a decent sleep hopefully you got over to sleep again often your bcc lurking.

Hello lovely Clare, and all you other ladies!

I have ordered my jigsaw saver. Got two weeks holidays coming up so will be furnished with new one for our trip to Plockton. No plans apart from wine on demand and good company catching up with the family.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, plenty rest and love!

Carolyn xx

Crabbit, I love Plockton, Been there lots of times over the years. Have you been there before? Love Val

Well, what a lovely day it’s been. I hope all the Claredrops have been able to get outside for a bit and enjoy the sunshine, even if you haven’t actually done very much it does us all some good to get outside for a bit.

This time last year I was about half way through chemo so spent a lot of time sitting in a chair outside with a woolly hat on, watching my mum do the gardening I couldn’t cope with. Today I’ve edged and weeded the entire front garden (and it’s a fair size) and pruned the roses, grape vine and fig tree. It’s a bit late for doing the vine as I’m sure it’s about to burst its buds, but it desperately needed doing so fingers crossed it’s OK.

So satisfying - it all looks wonderful! I feel the same way you do Clare about a freshly edged border - what a difference it makes.

Tomorrow I’m going to the garden centre to look for some seeds/baby bedding plants that will be drought tolerant. We’re in the hosepipe ban area and even using water retaining granules I don’t think my water butts will last all that long. I’m thinking mesembryanthemums and pelargoniums with a splash of bidens… I do like bright colours in my pots. I usually have a lot of pots and baskets - I think my record one year was in the 70s but I don’t have that many now and I certainly won’t if I can’t water them.

Also made some flapjacks and at this moment the bread machine is in full swing.

I think I must be full of the joys of Spring!

Hi Jane

Sounds like you’ve had a brilliant day! Wish I had your energy. I’m only on day 4 from juice no. 2 but managed a trip out to a market & then headed home for a late afternoon laze in the garden. Been snoring my head off on the sofa ever since but glad I had lots of fresh air. Am in a better place than when I had no.1 so pleased with myself. Going to sit in the garden tomorrow & direct hubby’s gardening efforts!

Hope everyone else has had a good day. I see the forecast is good for a few days yet.

Twinky x

Hi Val,
I haven’t done Plockton itself before. Love Skye, Oban etc and I can’t wait.

I am struggling a wee bit with workload just now and it will be just the tonic!

Take care xx

It was a lovely day indeed, and guess what I was inisde for most of it, doing an upholstery course. We had lunch outside and when I got home I sat in the sune for one hour.
Tomorrow afternoon I am off to Glasgow for 3 days of conference, meeting customers and dining with colleagues. I will be coming back shattered, but it is good to get to meet your colleagues once in a while. The downside of working from home.
I hope that my Scottish luck will last, it is always sunny when I go there.
I hope all the Claredrops are doing well.
Clare, I hope you were able to enjoy the sunshine today.
Lunch sounds good, I can only do Thursday; if Clare can fit us in her busy schedule, that would be fab.

Crabbit, We ate several times at the Plockton hotel in main steet. It was a while ago but the food was great then. If you can get over the very steep hill by car go over to Applecross they do amazing seafood. Had the seafood platter to share and had to wait until the scallops came off the boat…it was that fresh. Have a great holiday. The views are to die for and you can take a boat to see the seals. We used to go the camp site there but they built houses on the land. Have a great holiday. Val

Evening all :o)

Jane has just gone so I can relax, not that I have been doing anything much. Sat out and chatted in the garden and then did some jigsaw and chatted, then had the ooooushyest cream cake with a cup of tea. She bought over some large T-shirts for me as nothing I have fits me, my twins have become triplets, so rather large to cover up LOL. Janes daughter did well in her chess tournement, she won 2 out of 3 and their county came 5th out of 30, so she’s a happy bunny. Well worth the 3 hour journey for them… her other daughter drew the short straw and came to visit me :o)She and ashy get on well and she loves to see the dog as she is trying to persuade her dad that they should have one too. LOL poor man, he is still holding out with 3 girls against him…

You sound like you have been a busy bee Jane, there’s nothing like a good bit of edging to smarten things up and I must say a little retail therapy spurs you on to get going in the garden.

Glad you have a holiday sorted Carolyn, sounds like its well deserved and needed. You should have plenty of time on your hands to do a few jigsaws too. All I have left now on mine is sky…groan… I am tempted to just pretend I have finished and start a new one but then I wont have to satisfaction of actually completing it.

I’m not sure what to do, if anything about my BCN. She is nice enough but we don’t click. When I was at my mums when I was first told I had weeks to live I was referred to another hospice and a few different ones came to visit. One in particular I felt like I could really be open with her, she had a very special way about her that soothed and made me calm enough to say what I really wanted to with no frills, thats the sort of person I am looking for. I have met the other BCN local and she again is nice enough but… so I may just leave it for a while. Glad you are getting out and about Twinks, just take it easy though and don’t over do it.

Lunch sounds good CM. The only days I am booked up is a scan on Thursday, but thats at 10.30 so I can do aound 12.30 that day and lymphodema nurse on wednesday. But you don’t have to work around me all the time if its more convienient for others. Monday may be a bit short notice for some.

Off to eat my favourite tea, Portabella mushrooms stuffed with butternut squash, garlic etc and bread crumbs…yummy. They only seem to be available at the Tesco in Aylesbury where jane passes through on her way here.So she always buys me some on her way through. Nice not having meat LOL which is my OXH staple diet…groan

Have a great evening every one. I can feel another early night ahead. I felt really shivery and odd last night, was in bed at 10.30 and then up by half 4 but it was a good run of sleep and then I got another 2 hours sleep as I had to get up for shopping delivery.

Love

Hi Clare (& all)
Hope you have a good sleep tonight Clare and happy to hear that you had a good day with Jane. Congrats to your one niece and good luck to the other one- re getting a dog.

Re the BCN could you not have the one who you really liked – the one you met when you were at your Mum’s. Dig your heels in and make the request or better yet get Jane or your GP to sort it out for you. I think you said you have a really good rapport with your GP - ask her- it’s important and you don’t ask for much or make a fuss- now is the time to do it! Can you feel my hands on your back pushing you – push push! I wish I could do it for you.

I was thinking of you such a lot today when in my garden. Had some raised beds put in (bad back) at the end of last year and now they need something in them. With the hosepipe ban starting next Sunday I though I’d better get cracking. Trouble is the guys doing the re-arranging of the garden used some of the soil they excavated to put in the beds – lots of plants have popped up and I haven’t a clue what they are, lots of bulbs too. I’ve planted two Camellias and two Azaleas and a few other things and watered them in but it still looks pretty bare. Funding is and issue too but I splashed out and bought some soaker hoses which I believe are legal to use duing the ban. Didn’t know when I left Sydney whether or not I’d have a garden so donated all my garden equipment, pots etc, to friends and the folk who bought my house. If I’d brought it with me I could have saved myself quite a substantial amount of money.

Now I ache all over and will be having an early night too.
Love Diana x

Hi Diane,

Good luck with the raised beds…I was a bit worried though that having bought your Camelia and azaleas that you had the correct soil. It has to be a lime free soil, called ericaceous compost. I hope I am not being patronizing in telling you this, as you may know already but I’d hate for you to spend all that money on the plants only for them to suffer. If they are in the correct soil, then leave them but if not buy some ericaceous compost from the garden centre and get them out, dig a large hole, about 7-10 inches bigger than the root ball and then replant them…

Re BCN unfortunately the nurse I spoke to is where my parents live which is in Aylesbury, far too far for her to come or for me to go to her.

Hope you all have another lovely day in the sun tomorrow. Not sure I made it clear that I can do Thursday, which will mean Vercors can come and it gives people enough notice to rearrange their diaries too.

Love to all, so much for my early night LOL

Clare xxx

Hurray…Thursday is it then! I shall look forward to it. After a long period of ignoring me my boss has been in touch to say he wants to come see me with his boss as well. Think this was triggered by someone in another dept announcing loudly in his vacinity that she was coming to see me! Feel a bit uncomfortable with them both coming to see me at home so shall suggest they meet me out for lunch somewhere…any day but Thursday…lol! Hope they’re not giving me any bad news! Hope they’re just being nice…

Twinky x

How marvellous that you can all gater on Thursday… and we ‘up north’ will be with you in spirit.

Thank you for sending dear old Sol up here again, we’ll try not to hog it now it’s arrived.

Have a super Sunday one and all.

Ragamuffin, if you’re free on Thursday you must let me pick you up rather than buying a train ticket. As I said, it’s a minor diversion for me but a big pain in the rear for you to go by train, so I’m happy to. I didn’t put your name on the list below, but that’s just because I don’t know whether you’re coming or not.

Really looking forward to seeing various people on Thursday. The original idea was to go out to lunch rather than descending on Clare again. Have I got the right idea? Here’s the list, I think.

Clare
Twinky
Vercors
ChoccieMuffin

If anyone else is coming, please copy and paste this list and add your own name. If we have more people, we might need to book.

Clare, Just popping in to see how you are, and to wish you all a lovely day on Thursday. Hope your Dad gets good results, and sooner than advertised.

Evening, just a quickie cause I really need to go to bed as I overdid it a little today, not only did I manage to get in the shower, no mean feat nowerdays…but i did a bit of the ‘I’ word so have been standing up alot…sorry CM it had to be done.

Lunch out sounds good, hope we can drag a few more ladies out but as you say, if so we will have to book.

Hope you all had a lovely day, can’t believe this weather, its fab!

Love to all

Clare xxx!

Naughty Clare!
You should have been enjoying the sunshine! I walked 12 km by the Thames, it was just beautiful. The on a plane to Glasgow, and as always when I am i Scotland, the sun is out.
Revcat, are you anywhere near Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre? This is where I am spending the next three days. It would be lovely to meet up for a cuppa.
Thursday is good for a Claredrop lunch. I will have to leave you at 2PM as I have my heartscan just before 3 at the JR. Have a great week everyone.

Hello all Claredroppers,
Not been on here for a while. Have just returned from a holiday in sunny Scotland, yes its been lovely. We stayed at Killantringan Lighthouse Cottage near Portpatrick, it was lovely, quiet and remote, just how we like it. Really gave me a boost.
Clare, I can recommend family history, its so interesting and can be relatively easy to go back to 1840’s. I gave my mum the 3rd degree for ages and all she remembered, and continues to, sends me off in a flurry of record searching.
I’m enjoying some well(ish) time before going back to work after my secondary diagnosis and treatment. Part of me feels guilty to be feeling well and part of me is in denial. I just don’t want to think too far ahead.
Thats why this forum is such a tonic so thanks everyone for that especially the lovely Clare.
Libby, I am also happy to announce evidence of baby eyelash showing through. Pity about the head growth though - fine and very much more grey than I remember.
My best wishes for restfull slumbers for all and hopefully limited side effects for those mid treatment .
Donna

Hi

Thought I’d have a quick middle of the night snoop & post whilst munching on roast chicken sandwiches & drinking chocolate milk! Been a long time since I posted this time of night because usually manage to stay in bed sleeping these days. Have decided the second cycle isn’t a great improvement on the first…you just know what to expect…lol! Will have to rest up the next couple of days so I can enjoy the gathering with the Claredroppers on Thursday! Strangely enough will be glad of some peace & quiet for a couple of days rather than sulking like last time because the world disappeared on me. Instead I have the opposite problem. More offers of visits & company than I have time for! Lol…typical! Will have to manage that well as I need to put my rest & recovery above my visitors demands. I haven’t felt great this weekend. Still struggling to get nausea under control. Still managing to drink water this cycle though ( made me gag last time by this stage) and found heaping piles of ice into drinks makes them more bearable to drink.

Here comes my middle of the night weird question…does anyone else see trips outside of the house as venturing into a big germ filled arena? Am constantly worried about picking germs off & see every cough & sneeze as a threat…lol…makes me sound really paranoid…oops! I’m even nervous of eating non-cooked food when out (eg salads) as you never know how well they’ve been washed/stored. I wouldn’t normally worry but just feel very vulnerable whilst undergoing treatment. Am I alone or does anyone else feel like this?

Ho hum…these weird late night ramblings…and don’t even get me started on how upset I feel that my Mum thought I wouldn’t bother with the frozen egg charges anymore…I’m not quite ready to let that dream go yet.

Better try to settle down for some more sleep…but maybe after one more glass of milk…

Night
