Hi I feel so rubbish, I have devoted an infection, feel feverish and just unwell with flu lime symptoms. Saw my consultant yesterday and taken samples from my seroma and prescribed antibiotic tablets and more painkillers. Just wondered if anybody else had gone through something like this. They said if it’s not better or got worse by Monday to let them know and they may put me on IV antibiotics.
I’m a bit worried really ?
Sorry you feel so rubbish Pippi. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and you will start to feel better. Sending hugs to you. Hope you feel much better soon.

Thank you JacqB for your kind words as if we didn’t have enough to put up with, now an infection, just not fair

Thank you for you reply it does help when someone else been through it and can tell you about their experience as I got a bit worried x
Big hugs ? Pippi
Thank you Xela xx
It’s nearly 3 am and I have not stopped feeling sick and vomiting. Been taking Metronidazole and Flucloxcicilline omg I not in a long time felt so I’ll. I’m just so fed up and crying as I’m writing this. Not sure how to get rid of this infection but I know I physically can’t take more of these tablets.
Not only am I still in a lot of pain from my op and now having bloody deal with infection and sickness. I just can’t take anymore at the moment I wish somebody just shoot me that’s how sick I physically feel ???
Hi Pippi
I’m awake because of nerve pain in my arm at the moment and feeling very fed up too.
I know the drugs you are ion cause horrible nausea and that is miserable but they are powerful treatments for infection. Infection also makes you feel very low.
Do you have a help line you can call? It may be that you need IV medication if you cannot tolerate the pills. Also you might feel better after speaking to a nurse or doctor. Things always seem so much worse inn the middle of the night but you are not alone and there is help out there. Don’t be afraid to ring your hospital and ask for it. We are special patients at the moment and they should be able to help even if it’s only to reassure you.
Sorry you are having such a horrible night.

Hi JacqB yes I might try ring the oncology ward but i dont think they will help as they usually help chemo patients. I was told by my BCN to ring 111 and ask for a doc to come out but i find the 111 number quute useless as they send everyone to A&E regardless. I went to A&E a few days after my discharge from hospital and they didnt have the specialist care and didnt know what to do with me and said to wait til Monday.
But I will try the 111 number if I go worse again as my vomiting has stopped for now thanks to Rennie which is good for upset tummies.
I have emailed my BCN about all this and said that I can not take those meds orally, anyway see what they say.
I’m sorry you had a poor night in pain hope the pain will ease soon.
It’s not fair that we have to go through so much crap.
I do hope for us both today and tonight is better night xx
Hi Pippi
The last thing you need is a trip to A&E!
Maybe get some advice about the Rennies though as last time I was on antibiotics I was told not to take them with anti indigestion medicine, I don’t know why but it’s worth checking.
All the best wishes for a better day today

Oh Pippi, I feel so sorry for you, that you’ve been so poorly, and in the middle of night when thigns always seem worse. Good that Jacq was there to give you some reassurance. Definitely ring Oncology if needed, A&E is not a place you need to be, and Oncology should be able to find someone who can gie you some advice. I don’t know if your GP surgery do it or not, or if everyting out of hours now is 111, but my GP surgery out of hours answering machine will sometimes tell a patient to call a specific number for the OOH on duty doctor, although sometimes it says to ring 111, who just say A&E or 999 (as I had to do when my OH had chest problems one night).
I hope you’re feeling a bit better this morning. Another thing you could possible try is phoning a local pharmacy and asking advice from the pharmacist? You should be able to find out online which pharmacies are open near you on a Sunday - and many big supermarkets have instore pharmacies - just to see if they can recommend anything to help you get a bit of relief until Monday?
Thinking of you and sending huge hugs x
Jacq - hope you’re feeling better, nerve pain is horrible, my Knitting Nannas are obviously reaching out to yours telephatically for a gossip.
No words of wisdom I’m afraid, just wanted to send gentle virtual hugs and lots of get well soon wishes xx
I had the out of hours GP come to me and he admitted me to hospital. I still feel nauseous and quite weak after vomiting for 24 hours. See what the next plan is☹
Pippi loads of hugs and best wishes. I’ve. Is got an infection. Luckily I have antibiotics in 2. So taken one and one in the morning, then i’ll be at the breast clinic in the morning ?!!!
Thank you all had 2 lots of antibiotics and all is good no sickness. Have managed to eat and drink again. I’m very weary of oral antibiotics now but I think it was caused by the Metronidazole which I’m not on now. I’m on if Coamoxiclav and I’ve had no problems yippe ???
Well just been told my blood test shows that I may have developed a blood clot somewhere, it just gets better and better
Doctor explained to me that people who have been diagnosed with cancer often have a raised blood result that shows a higher possibility of a blood clot but doesn’t mean that you have one, but they have to act on the result and I am having an ultrasound on my legs today and I get a higher dose injections into my tummy. Once the doctor explained that to me I felt a bit better. Thing is I have been mobile since my op. I have taken gentle walks everyday and also mooched around the house etc so the only time I’m was not mobile was this weekend when I was sick as a dog…
Anyway will keep you updated ?
Hi Pippi, i’m sorry you’re going through it at the minute. Your infection sounds horrible and now you’ve been told you may have a blood clot! Hopefully this will not be the case.
Sending you my best wishes and lots of hugs xx
@Xela so sorry to hear you too have an infection. Hope the pills work quickly and you feel much better very soon.
Pippi good that they’ve found an antibiotic you can tolerate, let’s hope there’s no clot just a random blood result. Zellah and Jane yes the nerve pain is a b**ch but I’m finding that a glass or two of Pinot Grigio really really helps! Chin chin ?
Stay strong ladies ???
Jacq x
Hi got some great news today I do not have a blood clot, finally something going right and I have some antibiotics I can tolerate also I’m back home now cuddling my cat. Feels great to feel well again and being at home.
JacqB is there nothing they can help you with that nerve pain? Sounds you are really struggling with it xx
