Fec, how did you get on with your onc appointment today darling? ???shi xx
Aliand I’m not entirely sure about that…I’m guessing us girls can do anything we choose to do!
glad you got some treatment for your sore bit those things can be nasty.
well I went to the cinema last night before today’s chemo and after shedding hair for 3 days solid came out and thought something doesn’t feel right!!! I had a big bald spot on top of my head…it was time to brave that shave. Number 4 all is over, felt empowered. Still cold capped today to see if the base layer stays but crikey with no thick hair protecting me it hurt like a B@&tard for about 10 mins, nearly burst into tears and ripped it off but managed to gulp some hot choolate down and it settled!!
Tracey how was yours
Jamesy how you doing?
Fec any news?
Dealdoh how’s the emotional content today?xxx
Hi Rosie , so far so good , still no sick , I’m a bit tired and mouth feels a bit weird , like a jaw ache if that makes sense , made a lovely lasagne today and my four daughters came round with the three babies , youngest 5 weeks old so that was nice , I asked about it yesterday and was told it was fine , I was a bit worried x
I’ve drank a litre of cranberry juice and about a litre of hot drinks so weeing for England but pink wee had finished by last night x
So so far so good , how long does the sick bit last for ?
Oh shocked ! I think I would of fainted too , I’m a bit claustrophobic so thought of being in straps would give me a panic attack !! Hope your feeling a bit better xxxx! I do have my moments and think what have we done to deserve this , life’s such a bitch sometimes isn’t it xx
My daughter stayed with me last night as I didn’t know what to expect with first go , I feel like I’ve been waiting for something to happen , she got up this morning with a bright red sore throat so I’ve sent her home ! I feel fine so fingers crossed ok , it’s the not knowing bit xx
Hope FEC and Tracey are ok x
Number 2 done Rosie ! Yeh
Ailand how’s your fairy boil ??
???
We all get to moan from time to time it’s only natural…we are not saints or heroes just normal people dealing with stuff we just never saw coming our way, I think whatever we do or feel in this crazy hoo we are totally entitled too…I am however a little concerned about my character because I liked the straps!!!
3 babies round your house how lovely…I’ve got no sign of grandbabies for a long time but I know I will love it.
Not sure on the sick bit Jamesy as I’ve had docetaxal first which for me was bottom action not top but Fec also had it and was sicker than a sick thing but almost straight away. I was most ill on day 2 and 3 after steroids so this times they’ve extended them lowering the dose over 5 days so fingers crossed for this session
Night ladies…keep swimming (yes I am absolutely championing that as a moto) xxx
Night Rosie , I have 7 grandchildren the others were at school and nursery , we started young xxx
My steroids are over four days I hope that’s enough as feel completely normal at the minute , well normal for me lol x
???
Evening all!
So lovely to catch up with your experiences. So I’m Day 2 post 2nd cycle of docetaxel, the same as Rosie. I felt great today and been out shopping with Mum and then went to school to sit through a maths workshop to teach us parents how they teach the children maths these days - I seriously need to go back to school myself after what I listened too! My 6 year old understood more than me!
I self injected this afternoon (only the one for me luckily) which was really easy, and which will hopefully stop me getting neutropenia this time and having another hospital stay! The biggest side effect for me today has been fatigue - I have felt so tired and nodded off a couple of times! Let’s see what tomorrow brings shall we! My hairs gone to grade 1 (first time I’ve felt like a cancer victim when I’ve looked at myself but hey) and I’m finding I’m more comfortable wearing the bandannas rather than my wig. And I’m wearing them proud!
So pleased for those of you with minimal side effects but for others I’m really feeling for you. Just keep the reason where all going though this at the forefront of your minds - to kick its ass!
Keep on swimming ladies xxx night night xx
Hey Shocked,
Remember that it is ok to feel useless, I’m only just now feeling normal - looking forward to a week of normalcy before round 2.
I did read something just recently about nosebleeds, it might be those injections? I’ve just finished mine and thankfully didn’t have much SE’s from them apart from that weird bone pain over the last couple of days, in my lower back and rib cage.
All the best everyone xx
Amy
7 grandchildren that’s awesome…I try not to wish life away too much but I can’t wait for one…
Shocked Nose bleeds are pretty normalish but be careful because of your low platelet count which is a side effect like neutrophils . I don’t get bleeds just kind of snot full of blood so if they are proper full on bleeds I would say a quick call to the help line as you might need a quick blood test.
Dont want to worry you but don’t want you being poorly…let me know xxx
Ha ha Aliand! I wish! I’m suffering for it today! Feeling nauseous, extremely tired and aching. Managed to get out for a couple of hours - took the little one to Toys R Us to spend some of his Christmas money and then on to McDonalds which made me heave! All chauffeur driven by my wonderful Mum! Back home at Mums and straight onto the settee where I’ve dosed on and off all afternoon. I feel so guilty as I’ve literally given my little one the iPad and told him to get on with it! My parents are also taking about cancelling their night out to look after us both which I feel awful about and are currently arguing the toss with them! Hubby is home from Hong Kong again tomorrow evening so back to our own home for a week to give my parents a rest! I’m struggling today to get the fluids in - each day so far I’ve managed at least 2.5ltrs but today I can’t even get to the 1.5ltr because of the nauseous feeling ?.
Hope you’re little one is feeling a bit better - sounds like an awful time she’s having too - I hate being sick and hate dealing with sick bugs! Hope you manage to avoid it!
Love to you all ladies xx
Hi Ladies,
Have been reading all your posts but wasn’t sure how to join in. Having my 2nd FEC on Friday and hoping I will feel as good as I have after the 1st. Using the cold cap which wasn’t too bad but hair now getting much thinner don’t know whether I will need to get a wig. Anyone else using the cap finding the same?
Hello new ladies you won’t regret joining this forum it’s such a lifeline…I would say a bit more normally but Day 2 post second T and feeling a bit ropey, decided not too push as hard a I did on last day 2 and end up in Hospital. But after a week T for me has been ok. Don’t read Fecs post bless her hers is very different.
Aliand I’m less sophisticated Pixie and more Sigourney Weaver Alien 3 with a bald spot!!!
Talk later…lots of love and keep swimming xxx
Hi Fel and Hi Helenmarie welcome.
I’m dreading the T too but we might be lucky.
I’m day 12 post EC number 2 and feeling ok apart from my abcess down below which is very slowly improving.
Booked my liking good session no avavilabikity til April !!! So if you’ve not booked yours yet girls get into it.
Oh and we have a group motto. Said by one of the groups little girls
Keep swimming. Xxx
Hi new ladies!
As Rosie says T is doable! I had number 2 on Thursday and felt great on Friday and yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon and today have seen me feeling a bit worse for wear but I’m still up and moving around. I have found if I just give in and chill out when my bodies telling me then I feel better for it. The worst effects are the tiredness, achy bones and the nausea this time which I didnt experience last time. Try and keep your fluids up - I’m struggling with that at the moment due to the nausea and I find that is when I suffer. It’s really hard to do to when you have such different taste buds!
Good luck xx strength and positivity xxx
Fec I Day 4 , have been fine so far but today got up feeling well ?the thought of drinking any more cranberry juice or water makes me want to vom . So I’ve swapped to pink lucozade , letting it go flat first and that seems to be working so far xx still haven’t actually been sick so that’s good xx had dulcolax so no problems “other end” either xx it’s so cold here today in Cannock chase so heating in full and chilling , just read the tea and chemo book aliand recommended xx
Enjoy your day girls x
???
Welcome newbies!
Fel70 I’m on TCH (round 2 morrow), I’m cold capping and mine Is defo thinning - esp at the back. Seems fairly even at the mo so no bald bits yet.
I’ve opted not to go for wig - but bought some fab scarves and hats from annabandana and bohemia. Going to persevere with cold cap. My chemo nurse told me that even if it all falls out it stimulates hair follicles and can speed up re-griwth. Just gotta grit my teeth for the first 19 minutes of the freeze then it’s fine!!
One tip I found…i wore a small towel round my neck while it was on…then put the towel over my head once the cap was removed…felt lovely with the body heat…proper defrosting!!!
Starfire. Much less amusing name but hopefully more lucky !
Totally totally understand your fear I think we would all feel exactly the same in the circumstances. You really have been to hell and back !
I know nothing of abraxane but can I recommend ringing the helpline they have here as there’s access to nurses and they may be able to put your mind st rest.
Xxxx
Hi starfire, glad you’ve changed your username darling ??pm mishy18 she went into abraxane she will be able to advise you and put your mind as ease. I got put back onto fec for my 6th chemo. Just keep an eye on yourself and ring the number for anything even with no temperature. I was exactly the same as you darling after the allergic reaction,. But the girls who have gone onto abraxane have been fine, it’s mixed with different things and is more expensive than docetaxol. Mishy18 is on our Oct thread too if you want to message her in that too, she has looked after us too ??hope that helps darling, keep ???shi xx
Round 2 for me today…eeeek! Anxious now! Have pretty much written this week off this time round…sofa and tv time for me this week!
Hickman line stitches due out today too! Another box ticked. Just gotta to hold it together for the ‘ick week’ as my 11 yr old named it!! Not looking forward to injecting again but might be brave and try it myself this time ?!!
Spotted an teeny bold patch at the back of my parting his morning so parting moved = sorted for a minute!!!
Any of you lovelies find it impossible to sleep first day of steroid blast?? Hardly slept at all last night and wondering if I should ask for a sleeping tablet for next time?
All the best for today crazy times , starfire9 so good to hear from you . We were all worrying , hopefully you can get sorted now , keep looking at the forums for advice about the new regime x
