???

MamaT thank you for your experience of Abraxane.

Shi, yes Mishy has sent me some messages and advice about her experience of Abraxane. Thanks for the heads up.

Tomorrow it’s my 1st time on Abraxane followed by Carboplatin… my second cycle following a week off after the allergic reaction to Doxetaxol round 2.

To say I am anxious is an understatement.

Lots of love to all x

Starfire not st all surprised if you weren’t nervous. In fact I would think you were a bit strange if you were flippant about tomorrow. Will be thinking about you and praying all goes smoothly. I’m sure they will have their eyes all over you.
Crazytimes - go you with the injections !!! That’s a big step for someone who hates needles.
Jamsey - your husband was killed !!! Oh my goodness I’m so sorry to hear that. Life can be so crap ! I’m told there are some means tested help out there so might be worth a call to Macmillan. I’ve not followed it up as had critical illness cover and it seems greedy but you should.

I’ve got an USS an oncology tomorrow. I don’t think my lump has changed and she said if it didn’t stop growing they would stop chemo and operate. I have to admit to being a little nervous.
Also my son has a day at UCL prior to hoping to start there in September and it clashes with one of my planned chemo days so I’ll have another to go alone - did the last one alone as dh was up most of the night with his job.
Ah well

Keep swimming ???

Oh Jamesy, I’m sorry to hear that about your husband ?

A friend of mine that had cancer said to me to make the most of everything that Macmillan offer so you may as well give it a shot?

I guess I am quite lucky with my job, being paid whenever I need to be off.  My partner works for the same company and the same for him coming with me to hospital appts, or leaving early to do the school run when I’m too poorly.  I have been back at work this week and hopefully earlier next time if they sort my sleeping problem ??

Starfire: all the best with your new med, I’m sure you’re super nervous but you’ll be in the best hands.  Hopefully you swim through it with no probs ??

All the best everyone,

Amy x

Starfire

good luck with the abraxane. As I understand it, any allergic reaction to taxotere or paclitaxol is due to the carrier agent ( I seem to recall its bound in a castor oil solution), whereas abraxane is bound in albumen, which is far less likely to cause a reaction. Hope that gives you a little peace of mind.

tessa

Starfire, good luck for today, keeping fingers and everything crossed for you that it all goes ok xx

Thanks ladies x Starfire I have everything crossed for you today ???,
??

Hi ladies…

Ive fallen off the forum over the last few days…been having a little I hate chemo sulk which feels selfish because I got of fairly lightly. The onco gradually reduced my steroids this session so I didnt have the big come down which I would NOT recomend as it has def made my mood much darker than last time I think.

On the good side my new wig arrived this morning along with my real hair stick on eyebrows!!!

Anyway Im sending lots of love to all who are having treatments and meetings this week, especially Starfire, heres hoping for a better time for you.

Phew…Am still swimming xxx

Hi fel , my wig appt came through within a few days of nurse sending it off at onc appt and I bought my wig home with me , I think different areas do it different but I didn’t have to pay anything towards it and it was 239 pound x and 70 is the new 40 xxxx

I got a wig online as, well how I read it, was I’d have to pay the first £70 (or maybe it was more, I threw the bit of paper away anyway) towards an nhs one which I thought was a bit steep if I end up not using it much.

Got mine here: wigstoreuk.co.uk

It’s ok, was only £30, but I think I’m going to feel really self conscious wearing it, I’ll probably just still to beanie hats.

Sorry to bring down tone ladies but can I ask a question ? I’ve relatively got away Scot free re sickness this first week , not sick once , however today Fec 1 day 7 have had to go to loo quite a lot and quite loose , have took temp throughout day and went up to 37.5 at highest but came down an hour later , I may have eaten too much and did have a slice of cake which I think did it , anybody else have these side effects start of 2 nd week ?

Hi jamsey if you’ve had more than 4 loose stools you need to ring your team and let them know darling just so they can assess you. It’s usually t that gives you ?botty. Hi fel70 you could op into the Mcmillan shop at your trust, they usually have a good selection of wigs and you just donate as payment, usually anything above £10. Hope that helps ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Thanks shi seems to have calmed down now had dry bread and a pkt of crisps for tea , I’m sure it must of been the cake as I felt sick also and that’s the most I’ve felt it so far , will keep an eye on it but if have to ring unit it’s a 45 min journey away so I’m hoping not to ever have to go xx ??

Jamsey glad things looked ok like they have settled down for you. A 45 minute journey if you need it is worth it to keep you safe on this journey darling, please just don’t take any chances if it might be anything, the sooner they get antibiotics into you the quicker they can keep you safe. I am mother henning you a bit, only because I care and want you all through safely ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Thankyou it means a lot xxxxx???

Day 1 Cycle 2

Just to let you know I am still alive. Had a tranquilliser in the end so they could put through the Abraxane…

came home relived and dizzy, ate the biggest Chinese take away and then at my daughter’s bedtime discovered she is covered in Chicken Pox! One thing after a bloody other, Any idea if chicken pox could cause problems with my chemo?

Katie ??

Shocked , brilliant news xxxx enjoy that wine , tummy defo settled now and temp back down to 37.0 which is the norm for me so far x phew xxx back for line flush tomorrow so I’ll have a chat xx

Starfire sorry to hear your daughter had chickenpox, best thing to do is phone your team and advise them your daughter has come out in chicken pox and seek their advise on anything you need to do to ensure your safety. Glad to hear your abraxane has been success ??? shocked what fantastic news darling, celebration ???:heart::heart:??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx
