You ladies with babies to care for…I so so admire you, I really do. I think maybe you have to give yourselves a break and accept your emotional impact from this must be huge. Its hard enough worrying about if I have to leave mine and they are independant and in their 20s, although we dont really have much extended family so we are quite a tight knit little bunch but to have to worry about your little ones must be increadible.
On a period hormone note!!! Oh lord…my poor husband last night…
Him; Im off too bed
Me; Oh right arent you forgetting something
Him; Oh yeah and proceeds to put dogs out for pee and into kitchen
Me; FINE…I will do my own injection!!!
Him; Oh no I will do it…
Me; No its too late you forgot
Him; Let me
Me; NO
Him; Fine do it your self
5 minutes later…
Me; I cant believe you left me too do that myself and it hurt more and Ive got a bruise now…Hope your satisfied!!!
Im feeling I might have been acting a bit unresonable!!!
In relation to Starfire’s post containing the Guardian article, if anyone is interested in the fasting concept, there is a thread on here somewhere about it. I had a read of it before starting chemo but I really don’t think I can go 4 days without food, not until it’s medically proven to work anyway ??
Rosie ??the shopping frenzy is the steroids ???most of us on Oct thread were online shopping at all hours when we had the steroid rush ever cycle ???and starfire, I put the Blackdoor keys in the fridge, husband said where are the keys, I said usual place, he said no they are not, I said yes they are, anyway but later on he found them in the fridge, it’s chemo brain quite normal ??hope everyone has stayed warm today Big hugs and ???shi xx
Hello my lovelies! TCH cycle 3 day 6. New symptom alert: hot flushes! Mostly seem to be at night time, but strong enough to wake me up. Got a bit scared first night that my temp was going sky high but they seem to come and go in a few minutes after unwrapping myself from duvet. Been pretty down again the last few days plus Period didn’t materialise during last cycle either so wondering if connected.
Any thoughts peeps… maybe early menopausal symptoms?
Starfire thank you so much…the feelings were getting so strong I’d started to convince myself it was like some kind of sixth sense. That makes absolute sense though. Xxx
Hi fel, please pop onto our Oct 2017 thread meesh, dizzy and Buddyfan cold capped and will be able to advise if you wanted to see how they all got on with it. ??to you and all cold cappers I was lucky with the mouth thin, didn’t get metal mouth, just mouth thrush every round ???mai7 from May thread used M&S rhubarb and custard sugar free boiled sweets to help with her metal mouth. ??shi xx
Yeah, I get the horrible taste as well (not at the moment as I’m on week 3 so making the most of being able to drink water!). Werthers do a sugar free option, £1 for a bag in Tesco, or there are heaps of sugar free sweets on eBay so you can get them delivered (bonus not having to leave the house!). Drink-wise the only thing I can stomach after chemo is orange juice but I water it down or mix it with diet lemonade. I’ve got round 3 on Tuesday so I’ll be getting all my requirements in this weekend!
Icky taste and metal mouth is the worst! Really struggle every week 1. Find that Pepsi max cherry is tolerable or something fizzy…which i know is rubbish for my teeth but you can’t win them all. Also find foxes glacier fruit sweets to suck helped. Really struggled to get much fluid in this week and have worried a bit about dehydration but everything just tastes yuck!! Oh the joys of week 1!!!
That is a really good point Rosie. Never again shall I complain of being tired…feeling well feels amazing and we will all be there soon enough peeps.
Hatched a plan last night. Have decided once treatment ends im going to get a puppy! Kids have been asking for months and months - and i have always said no. Figured it would be a fab time to add to our little family of fur-babies and got plenty of time on my hands to research!!
Not sure on breed yet, but nothing too big. Thinking Westie or pug - but I’m a sucker for a cross breed dog too! Grew up with dogs so it’s about time really! We have a local animal shelter so may contact them also.
Fel - I’m sorry to hear about your son but pleased that your dogs was able to offer you some comfort when you needed it most.
Just feel like I need to start looking beyond all the yuck of chemo and cancer. Going to live my life how I want to live it ?
Aww CT, a puppy - that’ll be something to look forward to! We’re gonna get a kitten, my daughter has been asking for one and we agreed once I’ve been sorted out we’ll get one ???
Good luck for tomorrow Shocked! I’ve got my bloods tomorrow as well but got an appointment for a lymph node biopsy before that! Hopefully they’ll be be quick as it’s an inset day at my daughter’s school so don’t really want to be hanging around the hospital all day.
Rosie, totally agree with you about appreciating feeling normal. I never thought I’d be so happy to be able to drink water!
Hi there just thought I’d report in on steroid high before the dip but so relieved and happy to have been called in for treatment as was cancelled Friday and put on extra today so well done Nhs! Reaching milestones is so epic as now half way fed x3 done next 3 taxotere.
Good luck for tomorrow starfire so close to another milestone too !
FEL70 despite 80% hair loss and shaven head I know I’m bonkers or in denial but also still had cold cap mine went absolutely fine though they did put a theatre cap on my head to reduce the pain and I think it must of helped as tolerated it fine. Though I had to laugh in my embarrassment as I was on the paxman when another lady came in for same she still had 90% hair and wasn’t bothering with cap as falling out any way! I quickly put my hat on after in embarrassment oh yes and to warm up but just shows how it effects us all different. I think I’m going to try again next time just to preserve the hair follicles for faster regrowth though I’ve been told hair loss still happens but not as severe on taxotete so I’ll see.
On a happy note my kitten and cat keep me company and doesn’t need walking nothing like snuggling up on bed with you nice feeling x though I would love a dog just trouble convincing hubby.
Keep on the up people don’t stay down pick yourself up ( a wallow is allowed and a number of bed days) but this treatment will soon be history! I’m not sure what thread I read but it was reported to be like child birth you block the bad bits out afterwards… with my chemo brain this may be a positive side effect he he xx
Ps I find the flavoured fizzy waters best when metal mouth and don’t want to drink as slip down easily xx better get restockrd after snow! Sorry I find referring to lots of names in threads bit tricky but hope you all find your fix xx
Well done moo moo half way there ! It’s my birthday today and it’s my ‘ middle week ‘ didn’t want to go out and risk anything ,my girls and hubbys and grandchildren turned up laden with food and bought a party to me ! Had a great day then came to bed at 7 pm lol xxx
Shattered now xx
??? night girls xxx.
