Sounds a great idea, although may be a strain with my poor taxotere knees, and I can’t cycle - don’t laugh, it’s true, I just never mastered the balance thing. However, I did walk for an hour by our local reservoir this week, so guess I’ve achieved the first target!
Hope you cyclists will wait whilst us poor pedestrians try to keep up.
Sat am - total 3 km
I have just reached the 3 km mark on my bike.
I found that cycling in platform shoes compensate for my short legs and reduce the wishbone effect!
I have a small carrier on the back of my bike which I can put you on if I go by you Annemarie or Julie.
Where is the next target Lily?
If we are heading for Toulouse I think we need to go to Boulogne first.
Anyone know how far that is?
I’m between ops and have just done my longest walk so far… along a canal so it wasn’t as steep as that hill!
Will start keeping track, but I think I’ll be slowed to the pace of a snail in a few weeks so I’ll clock them up while I can!
Looking forward to meeting up with you on the crossing!
cycled for real for half hour today… twice round the park with my daughter in support. Felt almost normal. Munched too many crisps this pm though. xxx carmel
Hi,
congratulations to everyone who has completed their 3 km or did the best they could for this week. You have until the end of today (Sunday) if you still want to complete week one. I got trapped in a South coast loo all yesterday, ( side effects coming in hard from last chemo) but eventually released and fininished my last 1/2 km this morning. By the way my short legs were a problem too but my husband had drilled a lower hole in the tubing of my exercise bike and got rid of the backside pain - you are right Topper it is awful!
I have been called in for an op on Wednesday to remove my port, so can we continue warming up for week 2. We did not have a full week so how about a target of 5KM before next Sunday 30 Novemeber. Head for Folkestone and enjoy the sea air, while we wait for special permission to cycle through the tunnel, should take us a while! Super fit people can do a tour round Folkestone along the cliff roads, should be a few hills for you!
This has really got me moving ladies after being a slug for 9 months off work, so thanks for your support I am actually doing this instead of thinking about it. - wonders will never cease!.
Newbies joining - any form of exercise counts, just done in your time, your way, with a little support from others. You can book a taxi or hitch when not able x

Well done ladies for motivating me - thank you so much!! Only been off work since Sep 15th so still have a long way to go but … today, 3km canal side walk (no hills - great) and 3km ex bike. Folkestone means we can stop in at my in-laws for a good feed while we wait for permission - don’t forget your passports!!
xx
ps Continued warm up sounds good Lily - good luck with the op on Weds - I shall really miss you on the “having chemo” site!!
My static bike is a mini one that you use in an armchair!!!If you watch a travel programme you can really kid yourself!Looked after grandson today from 8 to 5 and spent most of it crawling round with a wooden train making choo choo noises.I also danced dingle dangle scarecrow 4 times,Grand Old Duke of York twice and led several choruses of,'Broom broom give me some room the tractor’s coming through!'Dont know about kilometers but I sure am tired.Love Valxx
Hi,
Horace exercising and having yummy Grandchildren as well, sounds like heaven. Did they ever make anything so awesome as tiny tots?
I think you clocked up double time! I did 1 1/2 km today including Christmas shopping.

Just got my bike back today after 3 weeks…idiot bike shop manager got it all wrong about spare part etc…grrr, coulda sorted it myself if he’d been straight with me to begin with. But hooray, bike is back and…
May I join you ladies? needing to ease the letrozol’d joints into some long distance stuff, I’ll be bringing large black dog (to carry bottles wine on a sort of St Bernard dog arrangement) (already got rabies cert LOL, but I can’t return to Blighty til March, but guess will take that long and more to get to the S of France) can’t do those kilometery things, 800 miles innit? Excellent choice of destination, lots of cafe du vin en route…
What’s a mile? 2.4 km yesterday and had to rest for an hour afterwards!
