July 2017

Oooh posh wine yeah even a takeaway treat tastes weird doesn’t it as soon as chemo leaves my body for the last time times ordering in a banquet meal, I will be the size of a house after enjoying all of the tastes I have missed! We just eat to survive atm, ordered shopping online for next week from asda so one less thing to do if baby does arrive next week I will still try to go to hospital, armed with meds injection thermometer and dressing gown haha! Hopefully she will come on due date or near it! Hair update still nothing on sides but getting rebuff on top now feels like velcro!!!

Take care Tatanya pleased the found the bug as it does make you think why you keep on getting the temp they knew I had Neutropenic thingy but skirted around it a bit calling it other things so was shocked when BC nurse rang me on Thursday to say she was sorry to hear I had been in with it!! No wonder I had so many antibiotics and a week’s course at home!

I guess I’m quite lucky because so far my neuts are still ok. Let’s hope they stay that way! Having an early night, but no doubt if I do nod off they’ll wake me up after an hour or so for meds, blood pressure, whatever!
Night all.

Sorry to hear that you’re in hospital Tatyana. Hopefully the blood and antibiotics will perk you up. Nothing puts colour in your cheeks like a pint or two of someone else’s blood.
Mishy sounds like you’re prepared for anything!
FeelTheFear that wine in the garden sounds lovely. Managed a few glasses the other day but Christ did I pay for it after barely drinking for a while.
Wound up in Liverpool A&E last night after temperature spiked. Luckily I was discharged with antibiotics. Given I was only visiting a friend and was pretty far from home I’m very grateful I didn’t get admitted.

Well ladies daughter is in labour 10 days early will keep you posted x

Mishy, how exciting! Best thoughts and wishes to you and your daughter.

You must be so excited Michelle. She obviously couldn’t wait any longer to meet yous. ???

I hope everyone is doing well today. It sounds like I’ve been extremely lucky with temps. Mine is always around 35.6. Always was before any of this and hasn’t changed. It spiked to 37.5 for half an hour the day after my first fec and that’s it. I really hope I’m not speaking to soon. ?
Yesterday’s wine was lovely. I was bit tipsy by the time we ate and ended up having a banana fritter with a large baileys as well. ? it was absolutely delicious. Definitely the tastiest thing I’ve had in long time.
It’s a shame you had to pay for enjoying a cpl of glasses of wine with a high temp miss a. I really look forward to a few over the weekend and feel it helps to take the edge of any SEs.
Hope you get out of hospital soon tatyana. I wonder what caused your infection. I’m amazed I haven’t had one living on this building site. Maybe my immune system had built up resistance thanks to all of the muck and dust. Who knows. Xxx

Things are looking up! The doc somehow managed to pin down a microbiologist on a Sunday (apparently it’s a bit like trying to find a plumber!) and they think the source of infection is probably the picc line. But as I’m well, there’s no urgency to remove the picc line and I may be able to keep it for the final chemo on the 13th. The oncologist will decide about this tomorrow.
Meanwhile I’m off the IV antibiotics and on tablets instead. If that works ok, I can go home tomorrow. Hooray!
And at least I might get a better night’s sleep tonight without an hour and a half of IV at midnight!!
Feelthefear, I wish you hadn’t mentioned banana fritters, it sounds like the food of the gods!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone!

That’s great tatyana. At least you’ve only got one night to go. I think you definitely deserve a banana fritter treat once you’re home.
My husband’s a microbiologist and I can confirm that they’re notoriously difficult to pin down. I can’t even turn my back in a supermarket and he’s off. Usually found gliding down another aisle on the trolley ?

hi im jumpin in from aug 17, i hope u dont mind as im the only one there to have had a T infusion on my 3rd. well nearly a week after infusion (tomorrow) and apart from quite a bad afternoon/night of painful stomach cramps and constipation/diarrhea and lots of fatigue the dreaded T part has been no where near as bad as i thought it was and ive probably been overall better than on the FEC! i have lost my taste, a slightly sore throat and mild aches and pains but been keepin on top of ibuprofen and cocodomal and seems to work. However i dont know if its still early days and se are yet to come though im hopin i will start to feel better this week… 3 down, 3 to go! what are ppls usual worse days, and when do they start to feel normal after Tax… Many thanks all

Still not at the hospital yet! Contractions coming every 5 mins hopefully not long she needs to arrive tonight! Or at least the early hours of tomorrow as chemo at 12pm tomorrow shame it’s not the same hospital haha! Don’t think they will let her go too long as her waters broke 3.30am xx super excited nowt have tried to sleep but can’t feely sounds like a good night last night! Tatanya glad your on the mend miss a yeah need to keep an eye on temp when I post tomorrow I will have some news ladies I can’t say how my much my mood has suddenly lifted :))

I’m actually excited for you Michelle. How fab that you’ve got this new life arriving now. It’s lovely.

Hi fairy, welcome to July starters. I had my 2nd T last Tuesday (already had 3 fec). We all experience different SEs, but for me the first 5 days after any chemo are always the worst, then I start to pick up. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be over the worst of it now. And I’ve found that my second T hasn’t been as bad as my first (same with fec). Even the 1st wasn’t really too bad. However, I know that I seem to be one of the lucky ones. Your SEs sound exactly the same as mine. I think sometimes the fear of what might happen is much worse than what we actually end up having to deal with. Sometimes I feel like I’m almost waiting for everything to go wrong. So far it hasn’t. Xxx

P.s. I have chemo Tuesday and my worst day is always Friday. Then onwards and upwards. X

Hi fairy and welcome. I’ve had two rounds of T so far, and for me the first few days are ok, then I sag a bit days 5-8, and start perking up from day 9. So with luck you may be on the upward curve now!

ah i hope so i just want a nice tasty meal…everything tastes rubbish and my belly is achin like anything… day 7 tomo i think if thy go from day of infusion so hopefully this is as bad as it gets… even tho im half way there it still seems a long way to go… thank u all… bet ur all lookin forward to ur last round x

day 8 tomo actually if from infusion day

Oh wow, that’s excellent news Mishy! Super excited for you and your family. Great to hear some uplifting news!

Fairy, hang on in there, it will pass quicker than you think. The horrible bits are horrible, but I find each chemo cycle is different from the last, it doesn’t get worse each time, it varies! This time I’ve ended up spending a long weekend in hospital with an infection, yet oddly enough, the mouth thing hasn’t been nearly as bad as last time. Just try to be kind to yourself and rest when you need to.

Hi Girls. Hope you’re all feeling better, I too feel guilty that although I feel pretty dreadful & tearful sometimes, some of you are really going through it, I hope I can do last ‘T’ on 18th with no hospital admission & that you all get through with no more now, as if it’s not bad enough eh? I tried a very small glass of wind Saturday eve, what a cheap date, straight to my knees & I could’ve been drinking battery acid, & food, well, like you say eat to survive, taste buds are shot!! But oh how lovely that first tasty meal will be & chocolate, can’t even taste that! I am so excited about the birth of this baby girl, that’s put a smile of my face, we need details, name, weight etc, so lovely for you Michelle & she will make you forget all this rubbish. I don’t have any Grandchildren yet, but several Godchildren I love seeing. My daughter was a bridesmaid at a wedding in Ibiza this weekend, we were supposed to go, but I wanted to get treatment 5 done, it’s been lovely seeing the photos & beautiful weather. Keep going everyone, we can do it (with or without wine), the end is coming. Love to all & welcome baby girl. Xxx
