July 2017

P.s I thought I’d share;
It seems chemo has given me one last treat. I had a small lump in my bottom which I put down to the repeated bouts of constipation on chemo. These past few days it’s grown massively. ?
Popped into my GP’s on the way home from radio and it turns out I have a huge abscess. On antibiotics now and walking slightly strangely.
How lovely. ?

Angela, chemo really is the gift that keeps on giving. I’m wiggling in my chair at the thought of it! So, rads 8 – how many do you have altogether? Are you nearly halfway? Good luck with the painting, don’t overdo it, you need your rest.

Thanks for asking about my mum, things aren’t easy but we have some good support from her brilliant GP and carers. We’re trying to arrange a respite bed for her for a week or two, but it’s not easy this time of year. Onwards and upwards. Thought for the day: would you rather die early from cancer, or live into your nineties but end up confused and miserable? Answer: neither, thanks! Let’s all pass away quietly in our sleep at a ripe old age having spent the previous day playing Scrabble drinking a nice glass of bubbly and watching Strictly. Ok?
Sorry for thegloomy note, believe it or not the sun is trying to shine now! Get that painting done, girl!,?

Good to hear you’re getting some support for your Mam tatyana.
Having a disabled son; I’ve found you really have to fight, or even beg for help. I hope a fairy comes along and manages to sort out some respite. Most council’s have at least one hiding amongst the staff. ?
Only 7 radio left. My GP thinks the radio won’t be doing my immune system any good and even suggested a break while the abscess clears up. No way. I’ve had to have more bloods taken for a full count. I thought those days were behind me.

I quite fancy getting old now that death has looked me in the face in my early forties. In fact I’m bloody determined to. ?
Would hate to be a burden to anyone though. I’ll take the fade away in my sleep option before that happens please. And bubbly and scrabble I’m
Definitely up for. I’m addicted to the scrabble
App on my phone and I think you all know I love a tipple. ?

6 radio left. 15 in total.

My cousin who is bc survivor has told be about a couple of wesites for bras and swimwear. Nicola Jane and silima, hope these help ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Amoena is another good one for bras swimwear. Not cheap, but some nice looking styles.
Not that I can really get comfortable in any bra at the moment!

Those Junkanoo maternity nursing bras that mai suggested from amazon are brilliant, absolutely brilliant, they have pockets and look like a Wonder bra when on as very comfy too. Shi xx

Junlan bras, sorry typo

Angela im there tomorrow 1st one at 12.30pm i will look out for you too xx

Sorry to hear about the abscess poor you pleased your getting on with the rads!! I get my schedule tomorrow as its my first day tomorrow i asked for mornings so who knows
I will go for the old and in my sleep with no problems apart from wrinkles a few aches and pains and with all my memories ?

Good luck for your first one Michelle. The only problem I find is keeping still. My nose begins to itch as soon as I know I shouldn’t move. My appointments are all around 10am so I’ll be out before you arrive. The first one takes a bit longer as they do quite a few X-rays. You’ll breeze through it.

I second Nicola Jane for bras. Also, try M and S for swimwear.

Hi Girls. Sorry I’ve been missing, RT & trying to keep up with Christmas! First & foremost, huge hugs to Tatyana & Shi, what great news, that’s the sort of Christmas present we want. I hope you get your parents sorted as well Tatyana, then hopefully you can have some peace. Missa, so pleased your surgerys done, hope you recover well & quickly.
FTF, hope you sort that nether region problem out soon, ouch! Don’t blame you for not wanting to delay your RT, Carole & I finish tomorrow, I’ve done 15 & 5 boosts, it’s gone really quickly, bit of burn on my neck, Medihoney sorting that & it looks worse than it feels, ok you’re doing ok now Carole with that blister, but it’s a nice feeling to think this time tomorrow we can say we’ve achieved another treatment. Michelle, Im sorry I’ve forgotten when you start, but you won’t believe how quick it goes, going each day a pain, but as everyone says, a walk in the park compared to that s…t chemo.
Hope I’ve not forgotten anyone, I’ve been writing Christmas Cards all afternoon, got to M in the address book & run out of cards, need OH to go in to the loft & get some more down, so if I have forgotten any of you, I’m sorry & blame Christmas!! Still got to put the tree up yet, my neighbours all seem to be done, aaarrhhh!!
Anyway, who cares, the most important thing is, we all seem to be doing ok & for that I am truly grateful, keep it up everyone, the light is definitely at the end of our tunnels, a big well done to all of us.
If someone could just sort the aches from the tablets I’d do a dance!!! Love & hugs. Xxx

Ooh our posts crossed, good luck for tomorrow Michelle, it’s fine. Xxx

Missa hope recovery goes well, take it steady, no lifting or hoovering, do exercises don’t push too hard, little bit further evetyday and movement will return, it’s frustrating at first but if you don’t push too hard everything recovers well as you’ve given things chance to knit back together properly and safely. I just used acqueous cream to massage into my scars and it worked very well and 4 months on you can hardy see anything now. Mishy good luck with rads today sending you ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Mishy rabbit on Dec thread has had reaction to t, please ca you post on Dec and tell her what you got switched to when you had reaction to t, might help her. Thank you ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Im not sure what my times will be next week i have asked for mornings so I might see you next wek!!!

Missa, how are you today? Did you get any sleep between visits from the blood pressure fairy? And are they sending you home? Fingers crossed!?

Hi ladies,
I’m doing okay! Got sent home yesterday with painkillers and exercises to do. No Charlie unit for me though. I have honeycomb padding though which is quirky. Very minimal pain now, just some discomfort when I do my exercises- especially near my elbow when I straighten my arm properly- is that what they call cording?
Thanks for the recommendation Shi, can’t see the scar properly through the honeycomb but looks quite neat from what I can tell. Hopefully it heals and fades nicely.
Sleeping with a spare pillow tucked under my arm which seems to help, husband offered to sleep on the sofa, bless him, but not much point as not in too much pain.
Kimi and Carole congratulations on reaching the end of rads! Another hurdle done

Missa great news you are home, hope you are managing ok, it’s lovely to be home from op and recouperating in comfort. ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Missa, that doesn’t sound like cording to me, it’s very early days, probably nerve pain from the surgery and will wear off in a few days. Persevere with the exercises but don’t overstretch. Gentle and often works best.
I’m two weeks past surgery now and have graduated to the harder exercises, I can get my arm almost all the way up, but it’s hard work and feels very tight. But my general stamina is improving. Managed almost a full hour’s walk today and the first half hour was definitely uphill – not just post-chemo uphill, but real geographical uphill! This was followed by 10 mins of level walking into a bitter cold wind (bearing in mind I’m still Mrs Baldicoot), and 20 mins downhill in a snowstorm! Well ok it was only a sleety shower, but still. When we got to the cafe at the bottom of the hill I reckoned I’d earned my scone!
