July 2024 chemo starters

I feel the same with my boobs so altered, how are you approaching this to make them nicer? X

I saw the breast surgeon who took photos and is presenting it to the team

She mentioned making the left smaller and lifting it - bringing cancer boobs ā€˜s nipple more central

Implants

Or fattening up and using the fat to make right breast bigger

We chat late Oct for more input
So let’s see x

That’ll give you time to have a think as well about what you’d prefer too  Dolly Parton? :joy::joy:

Great news about the Ribociclib, really hope that works well for you :+1: yes to taking the upheaval if it goes well.

Never thought about the department store… what a good idea, thanks x

The second mastectomy is a dual purpose- preventative both due to high risk of recurrence due to size of tumour and number of affected lymph nodes, and family history too. Its also my only realistic option for symmetry. Remove the other, reduce the risk. You’re right it isn’t done as a matter of course here, but the surgeon agreed after surgery results it would be best course of action.

Off for a few days after weekend and I’m ready for a change of scenery  GP surgery let me down this morning with Zoladex… hadn’t ordered it  so being done tomorrow after I had a word or ten :rofl: it came as a bit if a shock to them that it had to be 28 days and ā€œsome time after the bank holidayā€ just wouldn’t cut it.

Enjoy your holiday  xx

Boob surgery, ovary’s out surgery (this appointment to discuss is next week) and we also collected GCSE results yesterday! Xx

Ah will watch with interest with all our upcoming surgeries and decisions on treatment plan.

Finally have my radiotherapy appointment for 25th Sept for 5 days! Once complete I still have 2 years (4 doses 6 monthly) of Zoledronic acid then done :tada: but will be relieved when radio is complete, what I thought was a 10 month journey has turned out to be 17 months but happy the end is in sight.

Friends said to me when IV chemo finished in Nov 2024 whether I rang the bell, but really that was just the start and still ongoing but defo the worst part of treatment!!

Hope all you ladies are doing well and starting to get some normality back into your lives :two_hearts::grin: xx

Hooray to almost finishing active treatment !!

I’ve just come back from a wonderful holiday in France and can’t believe what a difference a year makes

We’ve all come so far.

I have my good and bad days thanks to Letrozole but getting a new job, daughter moving to Birmingham for uni, youngest starting 6th, eldest doing well etc is giving me a positive ā€œback to schoolā€ vibe.

Hope the first zoledronic treats you well. I was in the camp that gets floored but the 2nd one was much better.

Having my 3rd in Nov .

Then I’m halfway done! Woo hoo

Happy Thursday xx

Hi all
It’s lovely to read your news. We are all getting on with treatment and further down the line from chemo…that was the hardest part of all of this for me.
I’m havkng a mini break in a tiny airbnb and sailing with my oldest son. I’m not that confident sailing but thinking of doing a week’s course to freshen up my skills and stop me feeling so anxious when we go out. That should be fun but tiring.
Ine of you mentioned possibly having implants. I had my left breast replaced by an implant and a friend of mine had a double mascetomy to implants (BRCA). We’ve both found them hard. I mean literally hard to touch and doing cobra in yoga or any front lying position is difficult. I’m mentioning it because neither of us were told this. The positive is that it looks fabulous! Very natural and so much perkier and fuller than my remaining one. I’m happy with it and it might well soften with time.
It feels now as if cancer was a bad dream. Do any of you have that unreal feeling about it?
I have gone from having several appointments a week to having one every three weeks to have one every three months! And after that just a yearly mammogram which sort of concerns me.
Is anyone paying for private scans or blookd tests?
Xx

Hope you are all well.

I wanted to let you know - I am doing the clatterbridge abseil on Sunday! Finger crossed for me xx

@cf640 yes I do worry about recurrence and did have a meeting with my surgeon as my lump was originally dismissed as a thickening - only that a more junior doctor decided to do a biopsy 6 weeks later. I’ve kind of made peace with it and to stay aware and ask if any concerns at all.

@idcand49 I had my initial meeting about my ovaries. They said I could have them out of k wanted. Having a US of pelvis to check and the CA125 blood test which checks for any circulating cancer cells (this is o lot relevant to ovarian cancer apparently) and then more appointments about.

Xxx

Gosh didn’t realise scans and blood tests were required to take out ovaries

Is this to see if ovarian cancer is a higher risk? I’m confused

Please keep updating as I’m on the same boat ie a candidate but don’t have the headspace for more decisions / appts

My liver levels have gone through the roof again so me starting Ribo has been paused

Now they want an mri to see why it’s getting so inflamed

I’ve had an US already but obviously my head is panicking when further scans are needed

@cf640 your trip sounds lovely! I’m sure the sailing skills will come flooding back

Plus the time with your son will be amazing !

Glad you mentioned implants

I have my reconstruction follow up late Oct & I know implants is an option for both!

My surgeon was definitely cosmetically biased and didn’t fob me off when I showed her my radio savaged / lumpectomy boob

They took a lot of tissue out & think I mentioned she was surprised a SMX didn’t happen

Anyhow I have a call with my onco today to chat wonky bloods

I’m hoping it’s something silly driving this like me taking turmeric and having a few too many glasses over my holiday in France

I hate feeling on a cliff edge at a moments notice
Xx

Update
It appears I have a ā€œliver derangementā€
Meaning it’s all over the place

Levels still high but dramatically dropped in 3 days

All other markers ok

Still will push for an MRI even it takes a few weeks

But feel relieved and can eat again lol (my tummy can’t handle stress )

Hi @idcand49 liver derangement sounds so strange!! So basically it is going off piste for some unknown reason? Im glad the levels are down again. What a relief for you! Thanks for the update.
And i hope your surgeon meeting goes well and it is an easy decision to make, whatever you decide.
Xx

Hi ladies just popped on to see how everyone is doing. Wow a lot to read. Sorry I haven’t been on for a while as ive not really anything to report. With me not on any after treatment because it was tn. I dont see any health professionals. I did go back to see my surgeon as i thought there was swelling under armpit again ( sorry if i already shared this ) he said it was scar tissue and no signs of cancer. Im still not able to self examine my operated boob properly as its still tender so probably always will be. Had a lovely holiday in rhodes with my family. Ive had an afternoon tea for bcn and managed raised Ā£570 was a lovely afternoon. My car was stolen a few days later. They broke into my house to steel the key and took a few bits and pieces. We were all in bed. According to neighbours cctv in and out in minutes. Police woke me in the early hours to say they found my car burnt out :rage::rage: that’s when we saw my doors was open. A scary time but i surprised myself with how i handled it. Its like after going through cancer im stronger dealing with things. The good news is the charity box was there and they didn’t see it or realise what it was. Soooo glad that didn’t go. Just got back from a week in Cyprus with my friend. Sorry if ive waffled on about alsorts. But like i said nothing happening regarding treatment. My 2 sister in laws are finishing there treatment one rang the bell. And the other finishing radiotherapy tomorrow. They both are on letrazole and the side effects that go with it. I do think about you all so mainly popped on to say hi. Sending big hugs xxxx

Hi all
@debi1 wow! What a time you’ve had! That sounds like another rollercoaster now that you’ve stepped off the cancer one.
I’m nearly finished my capecitabine and then I only have acid infusions to go. But like any of you with TN, I’m then just set out to pasture, hopefully never going back in for treatment except surgery to match my breasts.
I started my counselling course and found it exhausting to be in a room with so many new people and having to interact two days in a row. I booked a sailing course too- I’m trying to pack experiences in.
In other news, my son who left work when my treatment started and hasn’t worked since, has finally signed on. I’m hopeful he will get his life back on track.
That’s all my headlines. It would be good to hear how you all are piecing your life back together.
Xx

Hiya. Hope things start to pick up for your son hun. Fingers crossed things are on track for us all now. Put out to pasture. Good explanation really. Bit in limbo but all we can do is like anyone else and hope for the best and just try to get on with life, my oldest son also packed his job in he wasn’t happy and i suppose with what happened to me he thinks life is too short to be unhappy. He has a bit of savings so will be ok short term but hopefully find something soon. My youngest has started college and seems to be settling well. Take care sweetheart :kissing_heart:

Hi, lovely to hear how everyone is getting on. I’ve booked a couple of holidays - one in Europe and one in the states. I just wondered if those who have flown have needed anything from the consultant re carrying the medication in your hand luggage? I’m on Abemaciclib, anastrozole and Zoledronic infusions (obvs need nothing for the infusion!!) Thanks :grinning:
