Ah great to hear your news! @pipspops
Just curious - have you started your tamoxifen yet or ai?
I have started tamoxifen and starting verzinio 12 weeks after chemo which ended on 21/11.

@kerrylou1 thank you glad youāve got dates for radio sorted too.
Yes, started Letrozole a couple of weeks after chemo (a couple of weeks ago). I was on it for a month prior to surgery then stopped until now. Been some debate between surgeon and oncologist whether it should be Tamoxifen or not as only perimenopausal. But now Zoladex stopping ovaries at last, oncologist says Letrozole.
She seemed to be giving me options, but Iām not the cancer professional . I donāt remember her giving a timescale for Verzinios, will find out tomorrow no doubt.
@pipspops thanks for replying! It is appreciated.
Yes she said tamoxifen until they know my ovaries have stopped (Iāve had no period since July due to chemo but hey ho!
Did not want to start any tamoxifen or another ai (side effects ) but glad to hear the regime sounds the same as you.
Still waiting for new hair growth through the hair I kept on thecold cap. As other have said higher up - hoping Father Christmas brings it! Xxxx
Thatās what I couldnāt work out, Iāve had 3 periods this year, one during chemo in August, so was surprised Letrozole brought back into play. Iāll bow to her knowledge but I did have to tell her that my surgeon didnāt ever ask if I had been through menopause.
Hair on side of my head now just sticking out going over arms of glasses, but a good helping of top of head hair would be most welcome in my Christmas stocking
My onco said I didnāt NEED to have zoladex (if I couldnāt tolerate it) but not sure why. She said it was gold standard for people who are pre menopausal at diagnosis and also need verzinio (higher risk). Maybe zoladex just gives us a bit more protection?
Iām willing to try anything as only 45 but as said earlier dubious of the side effects.
We sound like we will both be starting the verzinio about the same time so would be useful and nice to stay in touch to contrast and compare!
@cf640 well done on looking so gorgeous in your headwear (and finishing chemo!)
You sound like you have some lovely friends!
Xxxx
Iām with you to try anything recommended and take it from there. These options just werenāt available 30 years ago when my late mum went through this, so Iāll take whatever
Thinking I might be upping the loo roll shopping, but good or bad side effects, we can cheer each other on xx
Thanks @zaran I am getting ready to go to the hospital. So happy its the last one.
All the best for your last radio @deb1 & congratulations on finishing yours @pipspops. I am seriously going to have to get my own supply of sparklers Hope the new meds being mentioned will be gentle on everyone starting them.
Good luck with your op on the 9th @caz1970 there are a few of us having ops that week now (Cf640 and @bex1 too) we can recover together
Sounds like you looked fab in your turban @cf640. Glad you had a good time. I have a family meal Saturday. Hoping 1. I wonāt be and 2. I will find something to wear on my head
@idcand49 thanks for saying that you asked for confirmation about your treatment from your team. I find I get sudden worries out of nowhere and need to go through the plan again and again. My consultant is probably getting fed up of me!
All the best to everyone on this threadxxx
Congratulations to all who have finished and are finishing their radiotherapy. Another tick on the list. I start mine tomorrow.
Iāve been on the Letrozole for 4 weeks now and joints/muscles feel very achy, especially legs. Hoping that will start to settle.
Hope everyone is doing ok and looking forward to Christmas. x
Hiya ladies thanks @zaran @pipspops so much for kind words and @booklover1 hope yours went well. @angieb1 good luck tomorrow My last radio went well. Ive had no problems with any sessions to be fair. But had a review after and was warned again that any side affects will peak about 10 days afterwards and to watch out for burns or blisters but not everyone gets them. I did mention a lump in my armpit its where the surgeon went in for lymph nodes. She wasnāt that concerned but said keep an eye on it, and if it gets bigger get in touch. Said in the future any concerns i would be looked at. But must admit i donāt feel i know my body anymore. Im lucky to still have my boob but it feels different so im hoping I would notice any changes without getting paranoid. Really going to try and relax for a bit let my tender boob heal again and take it from there. Good luck with everything ladies. Speak soon. Xxx oh and i rang the xx
@debi1 Thank you and Congratulations on finishing and on ringing the bell
Pleased you havenāt had any problems so far, I hope that carries on and hope you get some time to relax (despite the time of year!) xx
@booklover1 and @debi1 congratulations on finishing!!
Iām due to come off steroids and have a blookd test on 31st to see if my cortisol levels are ok and then itās surgery, fingers crossed, the week after.
It does feel strange to think of appointments tailing off- what will we do to fill the void and control anxiety? I signed up for another Penny Brohn online course this week called āliving with uncertaintyā which might help. The other one i did on anxiety was good but lasted a long time and I wasnāt listening towards the end (I blame chemo!).
I have been lucky with my friend, Sarah, and her husband. Theyāve looked after me much better than my ex-husband ever would have!!! Xxx
Oh i am having a DAY of it today. My anxiety levels are through the roof. I noticed a red rash on my non treated armpit and immediately broke out into a cold sweat and thought i was gonna pass out. Havent had this dread feeling for a long time. Cant shake it at all.
I dont know whether to call the oncologist tomorrow or to see if it goes away.
Problem is, i had such an awful time of getting someone to listen to me when i noticed change on my breast, i actually dont know if i have the strength to fight to be heard again xx
So sorry to hear youāve had bad day. Hope the rash is settling down. I would give oncologist a call if it hasnāt, if only for your peace of mind. xx
I would definitely speak to someone if its worrying you at all. With what you are going through i would hope they would listen. Maybe its easy to be paranoid and scared but best not to ignore things either. Believe it or not ive just been googling bright yellow pee. Im not on any meds atm so if it doesnāt change ill have to practice what i preach and ask someone about it. Xxx
Hi @zaran I hope the rash has settled down but maybe give your breast team/oncologist a ring if its still there. I think we all feel the same about any changes and especially so if you had a tough time being heard at the beginning. But you team should hopefully understand the worry and want to reassure you. Sending you lots of hugsx
@angieb1 hope your first radiotherapy went ok and @deb1 congratulations on getting to your last and ringing that bell .
@cf640 thats good about coming to the end of the steroids. The course on uncertainty sounds
good. And for having amazing friends.
My last EC went ok just very long day with lots of delays. There was no bell so I gave the cow statue out the front of the hospital a pat and ear rub. I would have milked the cow @debi1 but worried passersbys would call nurses to escort me back inside Feeling very sick but so relieved its the last.
Yes may have got some weird looks milking. Love it though. Well done and try to rest now. Sending love
Iāve not really been on properly for a while as everything with treatment got a bit stressful. Congrats to everyone whoās finished chemo/radio.
I ended up having to have a 3rd planning scan for radiotherapy and it finally restarted for the 3rd time today and was fine - Iām still incredibly nervous that something else will go wrong but fingers crossed it doesnāt. After my original restart went wrong (due to the mould they had created in planning for my arms being hit by the machine and deflating - my planning was based on this being in place) I was spoken to by a member of the planning team who had had breast cancer a few years ago and was totally amazing - she totally got how upset I was and gave me the biggest hug - a totally lovely lady who got it. I saw her in passing today and she was just as lovely and I got another hugā¤ļø
Anyway, Iāve started Hormone Therapy this week and not been too bad so far - not sure how it will be once the other pills get introduced, but thatās a January problem!
Weirdly post chemo although the hair on my head is growing well Iāve now lost what was left of my eyebrows and I have a strange rash on my face and have quite a few bruises!
Lots of love to everyone xx
