Iā€™ve not been on this tread for a little while but wanted to reach out today to say Iā€™m sending my love to you all on this Christmas Day and to say you have got this you can grit your teeth and get through it.
Iā€™m through chemo and radiotherapy now and onto my hormone therapy and Phesgo injections. Life is starting to get back to a little more normality and Iā€™m setting myself goals.
Iā€™ve pushed myself and auditioned to be in Sister Act April and will be playing sister Mary Lazarus and I canā€™t wait!
Keep going ladies you are all doing amazing and I look forward to hearing about how you are doing over the coming months as you start to move forward. Xx

A belated happy Xmas to everyone -Santa didnā€™t really give much extra hair but hair on head is growing well but have now lost eye lashes to match the naked eye brows - thank god I wear glasses so itā€™s not so obvious. Loving my new head bands which hide my lack of fringe xx

@louc congrats ! What exciting news re the part

Did it feel liberating to go for it?

Think Iā€™m ready to dust off this year too and do something adventurous in 2025

As for hair
I weirdly sprouted a few hairs in the underarm which was radioed (!)

WTH??

I can only laugh

Is anyone else started on hormone blocking?

Would love to hear how youā€™re getting on. Itā€™s been so so for me and only 4 weeks in (well into the tabs, 3 months of ovarian suppression)

Some days are better than others for sure

Anyways, hope the Xmas break has been good for everyone xxx

Hey - lovely to hear how you are getting on!

I am two weeks after my second zoladex (so six weeks) Had about a week of night sweats at the beginning but none since.

Started my tamoxifen 2.5 weeks ago - no side effects yet.
Walking/exercising everyday.
My surgery arm got stiff again and cording AGAIN about two weeks ago so have exercised and yogaā€™d it as much as possible and now it is ok again ready for the start of my 15 sessions of radio tomorrow.

I have an appointment with my once on the 30th Jan to discuss verzinio and possibly switching to an AI but would rather stay on tamoxifenā€¦

When you say some days are better than others what side effects do you get from the letroxole @idcand49 if you donā€™t mind me asking.

Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas!

Xx

Well done on the long haul flight. Hope youā€™ve had a lovely time. Itā€™s so nice to start doing normal things again. I canā€™t wait to book a flight.
Iā€™m half way through my radiotherapy and so far so good. The Letrozole is another story though. Same as you, Iā€™m getting bone and muscle pain, worse when getting up in morning or if Iā€™ve been sitting for a while. A friend has been on it for 4 years though and sheā€™s told me it does get better after the first 2-3 months. Iā€™ve been on it for 6 weeks so hopefully will start to settle soon. xx

Congratulations on getting the part in Sister Act, itā€™s so good to start doing normal things again.
Looking forward to 2025 being a busy year. I feel like 2024 was just a case of getting through it but now I can start living again and making plans. xx

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. We went to north Yorkshire for a few days in-between just got back. Was brill. Had a long walk in countryside with my 3 year old grandson. I havenā€™t had much exercise for a while but took it steady and really enjoyed it. Had radiotherapy nurse phoning me today just to check in and an appointment came through for a catch up with my bc nurse for the end of jan now my treatment has finished. Hope your radiotherapy went well @kerrylou1. Have a great new year everyone. Xxx

It sure was liberating especially making the audition panel laugh about not needing hair to be a nun! So ready for a different challenge.

Iā€™m on Anastrazol tablets each morning. About 4 weeks in. Only side effects seem to be aching joints and hot sweats. Fingers crossed that all I get. Started the tablets to build bone density today so will see how that goes.

Iā€™m still having Phesgo injected every 3 weeks and they seem to be ok. I just have one day after having them that I feel a bit weary.

Howā€™s it going for you?

Hi @louc - Iā€™m on anastrozole as well. Been on it for just over 2 weeks, also having radiotherapy at the same time. Iā€™ve got bone aches but also been having what i can only describe as dizzy feelings at times. Iā€™ve an oncology appointment next week so will bring it up then as Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s due to the tablets or the fact that Iā€™m so tired x

Hi all
I am envious of you all moving on!! Itā€™s great to hear all the positive news. Sorry i canā€™t contribute yetā€¦
Iā€™m stuck basically. I had to finish chemo early in November because of bowel issues from immunotherapy. Good news is, Iā€™ve lost weight. Bad news is, it refuses to settle down.
Iā€™m trying a new drug tomorrow and my surgery has been delayed by 2 weeks.
Iā€™m trying not to worry because that might make things worse, but itā€™s been hard going. I just want the bad tissue out of me. Iā€™m sure you have all felt that way.
I have hair though and I shaved my legs yesterday!!
Xx

Hi @cf640 sorry you are having bowel problems. I hope the new drugs helps things settle. Are you off the steroids now? xx

I am also not sure if my operation will go ahead next week. I was supposed to have an appointment to put in wires to guide the surgery but they havenā€™t been able to book me in. I have an appointment Monday with the surgeon to discuss. Maybe they can do something elseā€¦

Thats good to hear about your hair! I am looking forward to seeing some regrowth :grinning:

Take care xx

Hi @booklover1
I hope yours goes ahead- how frustrating!!
No, i drop down to 10mg prednisolone tomorrow for the 2nd time, hopefully without a flare up. And start taking another steroid that doesnā€™t affect the adrenal system so much. They are hoping that my colitis will stablise enough to operate and then they can sort it out properly later.
Itā€™s so hard when we canā€™t control these things. Cancer treatment/recovery seems to be all about uncertainty.
Best of luck with your meeting with the surgeon. Letā€™s hope they have a clever solution. Xx

Hi ladies!! Havent posted in a looooong time. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas :heart::heart:
Iā€™ve had a lovely one, busy but lovely!
Went to Ikea today, i asked my son this morning where he wants to go today and his answer was Ikea :rofl: he loves a bit of Ikea haha. He thinks its like a giant dolls house and he gets to have meatballs tooā€¦ win win haha.
Ive got my first mammogram on the 20th. Itā€™ll only be the right side, not the left because theres nothing there to mammogram basically. I am NERVOUS lol.
Anyway, hope everyone is well!:heart::heart:

Happy new years all! Iā€™m glad to see the back of 2024

@louc that made me chuckle you not needing hair for the role.

@kerrylou1 im finding the joint / muscle pain is ramping up with Letrozole - first thing in the morning is awful ie very painful but is slowly eases but there is always some sort of pain :unamused: and getting up from a sitting position / out of a car I hobble out ā€¦ at just turned 50 who was Crossfitting a lot before diagnosis this is humbling

If this doesnā€™t settle I can go onto Tamoxifen so letā€™s see & had my first night hot flash

Ugh to waking up to damp pjā€™s (like when having a fever) Iā€™ve now had 3 nights like this

Iā€™ve been on the tabs for 5 weeks so hope it settles @angieb1 your friendā€™s exp gives me hope

Iā€™m actually going on the SWEET trial as adherence is super low for endocrine and the trial is looking at ways to support / nudge patients to see it through

If I were to rate treatment in harshness (as of now) it would be:
Chemo
Endocrine
Surgery
Radio

Hope I can power through endocrine

@debi1 yah to getting away - my son is off to Yorkshire with scouts in a couple of weeks & canā€™t wait

@booklover1 @cf640 hope the surgery planning goes well

It must feel daunting but it will be ok :heartbeat:

@zaran when was your surgery ? I was diagnosed in Feb but surgery was Apr

Just received a letter saying my mammo will be April so guess they are using the surgery date for my 1 yr anniversary

Kind of felt like a harsh landing after my lovely trip knowing when the nxt scan will be tbh

My anxiety ramped a bit

As for ikea , LOVE IT! I alway feel like Iā€™m playing in the various staged rooms

I would have said the same as your son

Forgot to add we landed yesterday from San Francisco and I had to get my zoladex (meant to be Monday but onco okā€™d the delay)

Our flight was late landing & had to leave my husband and kids to sort the bags

A mini win tbh

Anyways I get to the chemo ward & one of my lovely nurses administering it goes on how he hates giving them and how big the needle is etc

I had to laugh as never thought this would be my new normal
Hope off a long haul flight, get an ovarian suppression injection then head home to unpack & do laundry like nothing has happened

@idcand49 Hope you had a great time away.
Iā€™m almost 7 weeks into my Letrozole now and side effects are getting worse! I feel like a 90 year old when I get out of bed or get up after sitting for a while. Really hoping that it will ease soon - and yours toošŸ¤žxx
@cf640 @booklover1 Hope all goes well for you both and you can get your surgeries soon. xx

Happy New Year everyone! Hereā€™s to a manageable year for us all :slightly_smiling_face:. Good luck to anyone on surgery this week if it is going ahead, if not, letā€™s hope soon for you @cf640 and @booklover1 . Loved hearing everyoneā€™s Christmas out and abouts

Quiet one for me which I enjoyed. Watched my hair grow! Eyebrows made an appearance and actually put mascara on my short but definitely there eyelashes! Felt good.

@angieb1 @idcand49 blimey yes to the Letrozole side effectsā€¦ā€¦ could be looking more closely at the stair lift adverts on the telly soon. And possibly a winch for getting up off the floor. My legs have aged at least 10 years or more. Once I get walking Iā€™m okay, but not breaking any records out of the starting blocks for sure. Also had MASSIVE dizzy problems this last week, thought I had vertigo or labyrinthitis which Iā€™ve had before, canā€™t even turn over in bed without the room spinning, and feeding the cat usually results in me nearly head butting the wall. Will be ringing nurses Monday to see if anything can alleviate this really inconvenient side effect. I read it will pass, but when??!

Radio skin slowly healing, but look like Iā€™ve had a very bad fight with a sun lamp and lost. Not painful but a bit itchy and angry looking for a while, but getting better. Hydrocortisone cream seemed to make it worse, so stuck with my moisturiser and going to bed topless!

Covid jab tomorrow for me, then bloods Tuesday for seeing oncologist on Thursday for starting Verzenios, and throw a Zoladex harpoon in there too just for good measure. Iā€™ve so enjoyed not having to go to the hospital every day, so a week of running about to appointments is back with a bump.

Have a good week everyone x :kissing_heart:

Helloā€¦ nice to see us getting on with our lives a little more normally than last year :muscle:
Hills to climb rather than mountains hopefully!
I am with you ladies who are taking the Letrozole, I feel like I am 90, hoping it wears off as we go on. I have pains in my finger joints and swollen too.
Hope youā€™re all having a good weekend :hugs: xx
