July 2024 chemo starters

Surgery and chemo done and I had my last session of radiotherapy today so got to ring the bell :bell: It felt very liberating.
Iā€™m just not thinking about all the meds Iā€™ll now have to take and the side effects  One thing at a time and today felt like a day to celebrate :tada:

Congratulations @angieb1 - fabulous picture. Iā€™m due to finish my radio on Monday.
I had my oncology appointment yesterday and am having my first Zoledronic infusion and starting Abemaciclib both on 21st Jan (Iā€™ve already started on Anastrozole). There are still going to be a lot of blood tests and appointments with the Abemaciclib. I totally see where you are coming from @zaran, it seems like so much still - although if it stops the blighter coming back then Iā€™ll have to go with it.
CT monitoring scan today on top of my radiotherapy, Iā€™m keeping everything crossed the scan will come back ok xx

@ldm Start mine tonightā€¦

If you know, you know :grin::flushed:

Await developments as the saying goes.

(Update on the dizziness from Letrozole if anyone suffers too, Iā€™ve been advised to take my tablet before bed rather than morning. Again, await developments :grinning:)

Thank youā€¦ so I had surgery on Thursday 9th- lumpectomy and full node removal and removal of my port. All went well.
I came home the same day with a drain. Iā€™m going ok, a bit of pain but managing with ibuprofen. The scar in my armpit is the most painful.
Iā€™m so scared my big golden retriever is going to catch my drain and pull it out! Also donā€™t feel like I can leave the house with it, but with it so cold outside, thatā€™s fine with me. Now waiting for the lab results before starting radiotherapy.

Iā€™m getting acupuncture for the chemical induced menopause - has anyone else had this?

I hope everyone else having surgery last week is doing ok. X

Thanks @cf640, I had lumpectomy with LICAP reconstruction, they took 7cm as original tumor was 5x4cm, and sentinal node biopsy!

Dosed up on pain killers, but surgeon happy all went well, results should be ready in 2-3 weeks :crossed_fingers:

I had to have a wire inserted before surgery that was the worst part

Hope all goes well for your appointment on Tuesday and @bex1 and @booklover1 recover well :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank youā€¦

Surgery went well I had a lumpectomy and node sampling. Luckily I got called at 9 as I was getting a bit nervous & went home the same day. Found the wires being inserted before the op uncomfortable but the worst bit for me was having the general anesthetic as I suddenly felt very vunerable. The staff were very kind & got me through it. Last thing I remember is kind nurse rubbing my arm and telling me I was safeā€¦

Havenā€™t had that much pain, managing ok with paracetomol and ibuprofen. Hospital sent me home in a binding/corset to reduce swelling so not needed any of my many post op bras as yet! I will get to use them soon Iā€™m sure.

So pleased to hear everything went well @bex1 and @caz1970, hope you recover quickly. Its so cold outside so maybe a few days snuggled up on the sofa wouldnā€™t be a bad idea?xxx

@cf640 I hope the appointment goes well on Tuesday and they manage to sort things out for you and answer your questionsxx

Good luck everyone starting new tablets xxx
