July 2024 chemo starters

@ldm well done on finishing the sun bed :joy::tada::tada::tada::tada: yay!!!

Iā€™m four weeks on after finishing mine and I ended up more ā€˜burntā€™ than Iā€™d anticipated- keep a good eye on it and youā€™ll be fine. I wore a white t-shirt every day with no bra for 3 weeks, (did the same after surgery too when the confounded dressings wouldnā€™t stick to my skin) figured if there was any break in the skin any weeping or anything would show up on the white cotton. Wore latex gloves to fair slap on the moisturiser at every opportunity , Iā€™m a bit strange, I canā€™t stand getting lotions and stuff under my fingernails! Iā€™ve peeled this last 7-10 days and itā€™s now just looking like just that part of me went on holiday and had a wail of a time :sunglasses:.

Enjoy your celebration, whatever you do and enjoy the relax of not going to hospital every day, itā€™s great! Xx

This is my hair growth after finishing chemo 18th oct. Itā€™s darker than before but lots of grey mixed in more on the top which i didnā€™t have before either lol. I donā€™t mind though. X

So on the same page as you and my boys are both in 6th form so itā€™s so hard to give up work financially. A sabbatical would be so good ā€¦. Iā€™ll keep dreaming x

@pipspops thank you for your message and good to hear how you got on after radio.
Also thanks to everyone who has sent messages.

An area of skin where my burn is broke this morning. Went in to see the breast radiotherapy specialist today who was brilliant. Iā€™ve got cream and these weird pink dressings so fingers crossed this sorts it as I donā€™t want any more delays x

@galdiolus - my chemo finished on 18th Nov. My hair started growing back a few weeks before I finished. (Btw my hair has always grown quickly). Itā€™s definitely not the colour it was when it came outšŸ˜‚

@debi1 yes, looks like weā€™re all a bit darker and greyer than weā€™d planned though :joy::joy:.

Sorta hoping when they said itā€™ll be a different colour, they meant blue, green or pink or something that would cheer us up! :joy::joy: :woman_singer::singer:

Hi ladies

Finished my 15 sessions of radio today :clinking_glasses:

Had 3rd zoladex yesterday :see_no_evil: but all still ok.

Waiting for next onco appointment to start abemaciclib.

How have you got on @pipspops @ldm with the abemaciclib?

Hey @bex1

Just to reassure you - I finished my EC dose dense on the 21 nov (I had taxol then DDEC) and I only started seeing regrowth on my hair line about 2 weeks ago and now itā€™s growing quite fast. I cold capped and am still shedding everyday so canā€™t see much growth through my very thinning hair on my head but have quite obvious growth around my hairline (if that makes sense) . I am 8 weeks post chemo. My eyebrows and eyelashes have come back also in the past two weeks Xx

Hope that helps x

Thank you @kerrylou1

That does help. I am so willing my hair to grow. I stroke my baby soft, hairless arms and legs hoping to feel stubble but none yet. I didnā€™t cold cap.

Im 3 weeks behind you. So maybe in a weeks time?

The good news is u donā€™t feel the toxic feeling I have had for the past 6 months from chemo. So I think it is leaving my bodyā€¦

Sending hugs to everyone x

@bex1

Just checked my photos and the photo I took was only a week ago ( 10th Jan) of my regrowth so maybe not even two weeks ago more like 10 days it started appearing. Everyone is very different and the dose dense EC certainly did a number on me! I have lost so much hair since the end of chemo in fact I lost loads even yesterday. :see_no_evil:
The regrowth is actually where the cold cap didnā€™t reach!

Great news on finishing radio :tada::tada: relax and catch up on yourself now x

Iā€™m on day 9 of abemaciclib andā€¦ā€¦ not wishing to jinx itā€¦ā€¦okay in every respect so far. Everything Iā€™d read said within the first week to expect ā€˜upsetā€™, so thought I was going okay. However, oncologist said expect ā€˜changes if it affects youā€™ between days 10-14, so could well be the calm before the storm! Fingers and neuropathy toes crossed that it stays calm

Dry skin possibly more in evidence on my face and scalp, but that might just be the time of year, house heating etc.

Have a fab weekend x

@kerrylou1 congratulations on finishing radio . Itā€™s so nice not going to the hospital everyday!
I start on Abemaciclib on Tuesday - Iā€™ll let you know how things go. When do you start? @pipspops its good to here that you have been ok to date, fingers crossed it stays that way for you. I read/ was told about the side effects that can happen!
Iā€™m also having my first Zoledronic Acid infusion on Tuesday so next week could be interesting!! Xx
