We went to Chester for cake and look who we met!
How brilliant, you must have a very realistic wig! Iāve not braved wearing mine. My hair was below shoulder length but has all snapped off cold capping. I got some balding patches during EC, but on taxol itās started to fill in. I asked a hairdresser friend to cut it into a style on Monday and Iām now sporting a pixie crop, itās so much better having been shaped than it was when I had all different length strands of hair! (Although itās very grey so Iām going to try some coloured mouse or a mask!)
My wig is living on my dressing tableā¦maybe Iāll wear it to feel a bit more glam as Christmas approaches?!
Have you got a date for your surgery?
Iām seeing my surgeon next Friday, once my chemo finishes next week
@donna_51 so pleased that you had a great few days away, Iām hoping to book something last minute to be able to do that towards the end of this month and ahead of surgery.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
@ljlj you can see my wig hair in the Paddington photo above. I was very nervous wearing it initially and felt self concious. I also found it slipped a bit and that worried me. Now, though, Iāve found a way that secures it well and I have become more confident with it. I donāt wear it every day. Totally depends how I feel and what Iām doing. Maybe you could just start by wearing it in the house and then for short trips out.
My surgery, lumpectomy and axillary clearance, is on 18th November. As it will be l in the afternoon and there will be a drain, I will stay in overnight and go home the next day. Another hurdle ticked off the list.
@donna_51 Iām so glad you had a good time away Although I live with 2 males, husband and adult son, I have 2 daughters and a grandaughter so I get plenty of girliness in my life. My youngest was totally girly from birth and always wanted pink, glitter etc -she became a beauty therapist The other daughter wouldnāt, and still wonāt wear anything girly, hasnāt worn a skirt for 15 years and would die rather than wear pink - she works with rescue animals. So different.
@ljlj 4 weeks on from my last treatment Iām still shedding hair. Itās so thin now but also growing too. Wondering if I may need my wig for Xmas party nights but hopefully it will have grown enough by then Iām also wondering if I should go to the hairdresser to get some sort of cut or ride it out. Itās in good condition just very thin!
Glad you had a good break @donna_51 and a nice cake trip out @pat. Lovely photo, you look fab We had our long weekend in Lincolnshire last weekend, with plenty of relaxing in the hot tub, nice food and of course cake! Feels weird but lovely to be able to start doing ānormalā things again.
Looks like lots going on for us this month with radiotherapy and surgery. Hope everyone is doing ok.x
Love the photo @pat and if youād not said I really wouldnāt know that you were wearing a wig.
Glad youāve got a date in for your surgery and you know what the plan is. Iām looking forward to hearing mine so I can start to get my head around the next steps.
@wjs i hope the shedding stops soon. Iāve been out for afternoon tea today and itās the first time Iāve been out in public without wearing a hat since early July-so I feel like the chop has done me good, but I didnāt rush into it so take your time to decide what you want to do.
Hi everyone!!
@donna_51 ā¦ that sounds like heaven! Iām so glad youāve had a good break and feel refreshed ā¦ absolutely a change of scenery is good for the soul ā¦ and bubbles and wine!!
@pat love the photo ā¦ Paddington is a dude! and so pleased youāve got your date for surgery ā¦ one more thing done and dusted and hopefully all on good time to feel fab for Xmas!
I still havenāt worn my wig yet ā¦ but am thinking I may start, we have a couple of gigs coming up and I want to not be stared at ā¦ Iāve noticed more as my hair grows people seconding looking ā¦ not quite sure of my hair is a choice or if there is something āwrongā Not that Iām overly bothered but now and again it makes me feel a little sad, but then I get possed off and stare right back!!
Iāve had a fab half term ā¦ pumpkin picking, Halloween trails, trick or treating, bowlingā¦ loads of family time and today we are going for steak and red wine before heading to a bonfire display ā¦ all with a terrible cold but I refuse to sit and do nothing this holiday!!
I had my two scans last Tuesday, the ultrasounds scan showed the tumour had shrunk ā¦ at 19mm now which is really positive and I meeting with my surgeon and BC Team on the 6th November, to discuss in more detail both scan findings, what surgery and hopefully get a date!! Canāt wait ā¦ like you @ljlj need to know so can start getting mentally ready as well as organised!!
Oh ladies ā¦ I canāt believe we are all at this stage (most of us) it seemed such a distant hurdle but we are here and we are all slowly but definitely coming out the other side ā¦ itās bloody fabulous xx
Wow wonderful to see that the half term has created lots of cheer! @donna_51 it sounds like a super break and a little normality! @charlie22 simple things and enjoying the time with family - wonderful! @pat you look fab - you would have no idea itās a wig!
I took mum to watch tribute ABBA and wore my wig - still wiggles around a bit and itchy but I get it out every now and again . Will be out for the Christmas party as still only have a bit of fluff! Bought 2 new hats to keep my bonce a bit warmer than my cotton baseball hat!! Enjoy your weekend all. X
@collywobbles wow your wig looks fab and totally ārealā.
@charlie22 Iām glad to hear you had such a great half term. I hope it all goes ok on the 6th and that they get you in for you surgery quickly
Thanks everyone for your kind wiggy comments.
A quiet weekend for me I think as Iāve had quite a busy week amd could do with a rest!!
Loving all the positive news and hols updates!
As youāve all said, good to get back to ourselves a bit more!
We had a little firepit and firework action with the kids in the gardenā¦maybe a wine too many but what the hellā¦needed to let our āhairā down!!!
Mine thinned even more after my last treatment (5 weeks ago now!) and not really showing much sign of growthā¦ ive been rocking bald or scarves rather than a wig, but as weather changes im wondering if thats a wise decision, think a wig would keep my head warmer!! Mind a hot flush is never far awayā¦!
Ive struggled a bit with exhaustion this week. But think ive been overdoing itā¦resting now as radiotherapy starts weds, and nothing much planned for the next monthā¦
Happy sundays. Rest well x
@nicd im about 5 weeks on from the last chemo too and my hair has thinned quite a bit in that time as well. Donāt think itās growing at all. In fact this morning my fringe seems to have shrunk
Excellent wig pics @pat and @collywobbles. It is lovely to see and read everyoneās positive stories from half term. I managed a day away in Bath. Was supposed to be in London for 3 days but that is postponed. I wouldnāt have had the energy for it. I believe quite a few of us start our radiotherapy tomorrow. Good luck to all of us who are moving on to the next chapter whether that is radiotherapy, surgery or something else. Happy Sunday. Xx
Iām loving the wigs ā¦ you guys look fab. I thought after 4 weeks that Iād have some hair by now but no, still looking like Voldermort!!! Need to get glam wigs out for December parties I am sick of bald so it might be fun to try different looks over the festivities.
Love Paddington @pat ā¦ heās a great cake companion !!! Weāre looking forward to his next movie this month.
Iām starting the first of 5 radio sessions tomorrowā¦ suddenly feel all nervous imagining burning flesh & pain!!! My boys said Iāll probably turn into the Incredible Hulk too ā¦gulp ā¦ I will try to take deep breathes and be positive ā¦ this is a small hurdle and on Friday Iāll be done ā¦
Good luck to everyone else this week with radio and appointmentsā¦ keep up the good cake eating
@donna_51 this time next week youāll be all done!!!
Good luck to all those who are moving onto the radiotherapy. Youāll have to give us the low down on it all. Mine will be in the New Year sometime.
Itās a football afternoon for me so that means peace and quiet with snacks in front of the telly and my own choice of programmes - preferably ones that donāt require any brain power to watch. I think I might give The Hardacres a go.
Have a good day all xx
@donna_51 wowā¦really nearly through this! You got this week girl!
I start mine on Weds for a month, 20 sessionsā¦ after chemo we can do anything.
Have a good week all x
Sounds like a nice time @alig1961 even if it wasnāt London. To all those starting radiotherapy this week ā¦ good luck - itās another hurdle to jump - I know I havenāt got it to go through it but I will be thinking about you and your bodies taking another battering - not sure about the hulk but I know you are all SuperWomen .
Enjoy your Sunday all and of course the footie @pat!
@collywobbles I wont be watching When its an away match we have wall to wall football on the telly so a home match means i have a day off! Not that I mind football. I just sew or listen to the radio!
Good luck to all of you starting radiotherapy this week, I hope it all goes well and is a walk in the park compared to chemo. Iām expecting to be having it in the new year so will be eager to hear your honest feedback on it ladies.
Morning all ā¦ good luck to all you ladies starting your radiotherapy this week! Hope all goes well!! just think one more thing ticked off!!
The hair thing is same for me ā¦ definitely thinned again on the top and not much growth on the sides! I did book onto the LGFB hair course for tomorrow but cancelled as didnāt realise it was two hours, and Iām supposed to be back at work (from home sorting through emails) tomorrow so thought it may be taking the mick having that long of a break so soon ā¦ so postponed for December! I also retried my wig on yesterday ā¦ didnāt hate as much as I did previously so will maybe start giving it a whirl! But like @nicd said the hot flush may mean itās not on for long as they are still going strong
Iāve started using my UK Lash Serum yesterday so hoping to see some slight improvement by Christmas and Iām tempted to nick my kids rosemary oil for my head as well to see if that works!
Have a fab week everyone
Good luck to all those starting radiotherapy this week.
@charlie22 I started using UK Lash a month ago and Iāve got a few new eyelashes on the top lids coming through now - whether they wouldāve come through without it Iāve no idea but happy to see them!
