Hey Jill, you know me I like to know what’s happening. I am scared ( I guess everyone is of the unknown) but I have such support it’s great. You guys are invaluable and keep me going. Xxx
Hi Peggycat I’ve been very lucky my mother in law has taken me to all appointments. Do you have a friend to go with you? If not hospital transport might be available to you check with your gp. If not I would say taxi back even though you will be fine for firs couple of hours drink lots of water the day before and drink lots on the next few days xxxxxxx
Hopefully it won’t be nearly as bad as you think.
That comment was for Ange not Peggy.Peggy you can def get hospital transport to and from appointments they don’t like you travelling on public transport.
Ange you will be fine!! I was so scared but it is the unknown. You sound very strong and you will be fine!
Sarah glad to hear you’re doing well and have had a fun day, I saw a couple of school friends this afternoon too which was lovely! Would you be able to send me your list too when you have time. Hope everyone else is ok too! Xxxx
Hi shazza so good to hear you are getting on well. Yes of course will send you list still waiting for son to get off my laptop but my husband has just come in and they are going to the pub before going to the supermarket? Good plan xxx
Yes Peggy ask about transport I know our hospital offers it. It can make you day a bit longer but if it saves lots of buses it’s good xxx
Going to the pub before the supermarket sounds like a recipe for no dinner!!!Hope you have some supplies in Sarah!!!
Treating yourself to a pub dinner Sarah?
Yep I am watching Rugby too. I have had a beef casserole in the slow cooker all day so should be nice ( I hope). Xx
It’s gone fast Sarah. I guess I will be done end of January as long as all the blood cells play ball. Then a year of Heceptin and tablets. Then I wait for my recon they said 18 months then to recover from that. Just take a day at a time. I would do anything go to stop it coming back. Xx
Friends of ours are popping round in a bit. We’re going for a curry! Hopefully will watch some rugby later. Nikki’s getting a lift to her parents tonight as we have her dad’s birthday meal tomorrow evening. Has everyone else got much on? x
Sorry, dozed off for an hour there. I don’t know how I’ll ever get back to real life without a siesta every day!
Thanks for the tips re transport. I’d not thought about actual hospital transport so something to add to my lists for forthcoming appointments. I have a friend who can rearrange her days off to come and pick me up if necessary but unlikely to have access to a car.
Not sure what chemo regime I’ll be on yet Sarah as only have my first onc appointment next Tuesday but will report back then. Fect - T does seem to be the one most mentioned on these boards doesn’t it?
Nikki gets her Bras from Bravissimo. She’s got a couple of soft ones. Would be nice to get a sports bra for comfort I think x
It was a gradual wearing, a few hours at a time. And I helped strap her up for a while x
I have found crop top type things better than a bra on the armpit scar, Fiona. How on earth did you get the results that quick?! I had surgery on the 11th and won’t be getting my results until the 30th! I think is that is because that date suited the surgeon, and the results may come in before…does anyone think if I called the breast care nurse say, two weeks after surgery she would tell me the results? It’s only that I will be going to Cornwall next weeks for Mum’s funeral that I didn’t kick up about the wait…it seems far too long to me!
Sorry about the rant!

Some will give you results over the phone ,but a bit of a double edged sword ,cos really you want to be able to discuss what you are being told and that’s difficult over the phone. They do want to discuss your results in multi disciplinary meeting as they decide on balance what treatment to recommend for you with both surgeon and Oncologist. Like Jo said anything over 2 weeks they should have your results back , it’s very hard if it’s just for the convenience of the surgeon to be made to wait longer.
I got some comfortable ones from Asda. If you can wear your comfy ( idc you have been given one, not sure if it just mx ladies) it helps with the swelling. My hospital won’t give results over the phone all they seem to do is summise what they think but can’t confirm xx
It’s been a week since you had your rads Jill hope you are feeling much better now xxxxxx
Thanks ladies, I will probably try calling the BN next Friday, two weeks after surgery and the day after the MDT meet. Whether she will tell me anything remains to be seen!
Fiona (And anyone else who might be interested) I am wearing these at the moment, as I find they sit well and don’t rub along the scar under my arm. amazon.co.uk/three-Camisette-comfort-white-violet/dp/B00ARO3UNS/ref=sr_1_1?s=clothing&ie=UTF8&qid=1442603238&sr=1-1&keywords=camiselle+comfort+bra
I think this might be a bit of a stupid question, but apart from general bruising and tenderness, did anyone have any lumps after surgery? I have a small one, not where the tumor was, but probably in line with where the wire went in.
