Lobular cancer diagnosed

Continuing the discussion from New member:

June 2025 diagnosed with lobular invasive cancer grade 2 .
Have had 2 operations and now onto radiotherapy next also don’t know how many sessions I will be having. My consultant also recommended to see another oncologist for the CDK4/6 as my tumour was 61 mm and it would benefit me. Haven’t seen her as yet but have read about it , and it’s made slightly anxious. Would love to hear from anyone in my situation that has had lobular cancer and received the CDK4/6 inhibitor.

Hi. Sorry that you haven’t had a reply yet!

If you are feeling anxious, you can speak to one of our nurses who are here to help and answer any questions you may have, you can reach them on our free helpline 0808 800 6000, and you can call them as many times as you want or need.

I truly hope you are able to get some answers soon.

Best wishes,

Chloe

I’m not in the same situation as you in that my lobular cancer was more advanced, so I had chemo, radiotherapy and am on Letrozole and Abemaciclib - as well as bone infusions! Is there something you wanted to know? There was recently an update on Abemaciclib and how effective it is. I am lucky in that my side effects are minimal and I’m hoping I can stay on it for the two years. I feel very lucky to be able to take it.

Thank you will do .

Thank you for your reply !
And good to hear that you’re ok with letrozole And abemaciclib
I guess when I go to see my oncologist she will go through my treatment plan as to which CDk4/6 I will be having . I have been taking letrozole for 2 weeks and so far it’s ok. Also going to see oncologist for radiotherapy so again will know then how many I will be having .

Everyone is different and if you do take a CDK 4/6 inhibitor, they will monitor you very closely initially. For the first two months, I had blood tests every two weeks and an appointment with the oncologist. Radiotherapy is also very do-able - I found it tiring and a bit undignified, but you just suck it up and once it’s done, you sort of forget about it, if that makes sense. Good luck with your appointment. It all feels like a conveyor belt at times! There is a Facebook group called Linking Lobular Ladies, which you might find helpful.

Just seen your message thank you for coming back to me and your feedback much appreciated .

Just to ask how long are you on CDK4/6 !

Two years, but the benefits last beyond that, I believe.

Thank you for replying so quick.
And hope that your keeping well .
