well, had my first TAX yesterday and all went well, lot more pleasant that the FEC although took a lot, lot longer! slept all evening, and have been very tired today, but otherwise all ok. managing to eat, but wary as not knowing what to expect and dont like that side of it. hopefully the sickness will be kept at bay and I will get through the next week with not too many problems. will keep you updated.
hope you are all ok and keep in touch

So glad it’s so far so good Debs!
Had 2nd TAc yesterday - very nauseous last night but ok today - steroids continuing to make me buzz… Hair virtually gone - went to Tesco in a scarf today - like to ring the changes!!
love Td xx
ps NICE to hear from you Maz!!
bump for peacock
Well, already two weeks since first TAX, cant believe how quickly time is going. Had pretty rough time in some aspects, worse being feeling soooo tired and weak, and the sore mouth has driven me nuts. Got some Difflam from doctors which has helped, but still have sore under tongue and horrible taste in mouth. Just dont know how to combat that one. Two more TAX to go. Just hope the dont get any worse, as can deal with what I have had so far. Cant wait till they are over with.
Maz - where are you. long time no hear.
Catch up soon

My horrid mouth hasn’t happened this time Debs - I’d have told you that on live hat if I’d been able to get in - i log in then get logged out again when I try to post - just not working for me…
Back to the mouth - i’m a bit sore too, but not too bad… Harry forcing me off the computer as he wants to play his war game… so selfish…
Td x
hi td, sorry you couldnt get on tonight must have been so frustrating for you, hope to see you next week
Sorry to have missed you all last night! i was very frustrated - I even re-registered with a slightly different name to see if that worked but it didn’t. At least by logging in you all knew I was there even if I couldn’t join in - I couldn’t even watch the chat as it all froze as soon as i tried to post.
Anyhow - I’m ok, but yesterday I went to a spa and now have conjunctivitis so have eye drop antibiotics - my own fault - i hadn’t even considered that it could cause that!
Hope your’re all ok!
Love Td x
Hi Debs,
Just caught up with your thread and wonder if we are having similar chemo. I have had 4xA.C.and just had 2xTaxotere.
Just wonder if you are as paranoid as I am. I am constantly checking this dreaded lump, and am convinced that its growing, it feels really itchy! Just can
t wait to get to the op stage.
This week is my really good week, I only have one on Tax, so am catching up with everything…played golf yesterday, had great curry with daughter last night, taking grandchildren out today…I feel as though I have a new body for a week!!..got to make the most of it!
A friend of mine who is a b.nurse said neo adjuvant therapy is phsycologically very hard to deal with as you not only have chemo to deal with but you still have to carry this darned tumour around with you!
Hope you are well, Take care,
Love,
Janx
Hi Ladies,
Cant wait to be at a place where I can say that the course, 4 act and 4 taxotere are nearly at an end. Only day 8 from 1st chemo so best part of marathon to run, walk, crawl!!! Not been too bad so far, sickness none, just needed good dose of prunes!!! Tired already, bored after leaving work. Hair cut today at 5, wig buying with daughter 2moro. Do you really pick up a bit in week 3 of each chemo, the middle week being most tired?? Suppose it depends if we can stay bug free or not. Next dose on 14 Aug, cant wait, (!!!) need to tick some more off.
Take care all,
love Chrisxxxxxxxxx
thank you all for you messages. sorry not been on for last week. had good week so made the most of it! Yesterday I had number 5 of 6, the second TAX. Took longer to get over the tax than it did the fec, but what the hec, only one more to go, yippee!!! came home from hospital yesterday, at 6pm and straight to sleep till 3am this morning! wiped me out. feel ok today and need to catch up on work before it all sets in on monday!
Td, hope your eyes ok now. will ring you later to catch up. may have to think twice about going swimming now.
wonder1 - looked at the website you mentioned and seems really complicated! or is it me! will try and get on there when have time to go through it all.
Toronto - good to hear from you. I had 3 x FEC and had 2nd of three TAX yesterday. Have only just over one good week on TAX, where FEC only took 3 days before started to feel good! Envy you with the curry. Am dying to have one but too scared it may upset my stomach! will wait till chemo over to be sure. I do check lump regularly, but luckily and hopefully all seems to be going well and still reducing. Onc contacting the doctors doing the op now, to get appt. in few weeks to have a scan and book operation date. Cant believe its nearly here already! Cant wait. Next thing to worry over, is whether the nodes are infected or not, but will leave that worrying till nearer the time! Was worried about choosing chemo first as like you said, knowing lump still there was not good mentally, but glad I did do it this way, as helps knowing its reducing and the chemo working, and also, has the worse bit out of the way first. Keep in touch and let me know how its going.
Dipstick - doesn’t seem five mins ago when I was where you are now. believe me, it will go quick and you will soon be saying ‘one more left’. I tend to be rough for 3 days on FEC and about a week to 10 days on TAX, but thats only tiredness, so will be prepared this time, I hope! got 2 wigs and not worn them yet. prefer to wear my hat as wig itches! Still have some hair so do go out ‘commando’ most times. about 1cm long but looks ok. lost some eyebrows and eyelashes but hope to hang on to some of it and not lose them completely!! please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. it helps to talk to people in the same boat.
anyway, have to go as lots to do today.
catch up soon
take care all and speak soon
deb x
Look forward to speaking later - should be back by 2.30. Only had 2 hours sleep last night - too much steroid, I think - happened last cycle too…
Love Td
Chris - I;m having TAC x6 - had 2, 3d today - I’m ok from about day 10 - bit tired, but not too bad…
Got to go

Hi Debs just joining in discussion (was on live chat 2nite) - found your name and thought it was a thread and sent u msg but it came up private msg - sorry i am a bit of an idiot with computers but think i’ve got it sussed now! Anyway look 4ward 2 chatting 2 u and others soon - delfino x
Hi Debs Nice to hear from you - I read that you are having chemo before your op good luck with everything. I had wide local incision 2 weeks ago to remove lump and lymph nodes as had biopsy and already know cancer is present in lymph gland under arm. Going for results next Tues to find out stage, grade etc. All very scary but I now feel I need to know what I am dealing with - will then have chemo and rads. Am missing work and just being me I
Sorry pressed something on keyboard before finished msg - I was about to say I miss being chilled out and not stressed out! Anyway there are lots of us in the same boat and it’s good to share our thoughts as don’t want to keep on about everything with family and friends at home it’s just all too much. The worse thing is this isn’t just about us is it but it’s about everyone we love and everyone has to cope which is so hard. Anyway think I might cry in a minute so will go and do something else now to take my mind off things.
please keep in touch

Hiya girls,
nearly ready for no. 2 ac on thursday, thats if bloods are ok, going to docs on wed for that one. Have got my wig now, feel a bit aqward with it so dont know if it will be allowed outside or not!!! Maybe on a dark winters night. Lots of hair in shower plug this am and when making bed thought the dog must have been lying in it!!! (no she doesnt)! So here we go, loosing big time. Most people seem to have a harder time on tax, i’m not really looking foreward to that only to say that by then I’ll be starting last half on chemos!!! then op, then rads,… then whatever, then working hard to get back to full recovery and beyond… lets go girls… Must watch my eating, getting to like it too much… boredom being a factor. Must get out with the dogs and stay out all day then I can eat what I want! (unless I fall asleep of course). Just been looking up Manuka honey on line, rather expensive isnt it. I have a jar in the fridge but wondered if I could get it cheaper buying in small bulk, even so I would need to take out a mortgage and that is just not going to happen!!!
Debs, have read on other threads that pineapple is good for sore mouth, enzymes in it. I have chopped some up and frozen it in small pieces to suck on. Luckily no sore mouth to date. I had a sore throat last week and was advised to BUY difflam from chemist which I did. Manuka honey is meant to be good for sore mouth, or any other sore bits (!) Sainsburys sell it (not my usual shop). Hope it is easing off a bit.
Going to watch some Olympics and pretent its me… a girls gotta dream…
take care all,
Chris x
Hi Chris this is Sandra am new to forum - you sound really cheerful it’s good that you are joking about things. What’s wrong with the wig? I will def get one when start chemo just can’t face going out with no hair although everyone seems to say they itch. Hopefully will get one better than my own hair with no grey hairs ha ha - no need to colour either! Enjoy watching the Olympics and dreaming…
Hope to speak to you again

Me again!
sandra, you are right about missing being ‘normal’ anymore. I often wish i could turn back the clock 6 months to before it happened and wonder if life will ever be the same again. luckily for me, I have a ‘warped’ sense of humour, and can make light of most situations, which gets me through the tough life I have had and will get me through this, i hope. I wish you luck with the results on tuesday. hope news is not too bad. let me know.
chris, nice to hear from you. hope chemo no. 1 went ok with not too many ‘side effects’. take a tip, cut you hair off, now its falling out quickly! I shaved mine on a no. 4 and have kept about 1cm, with no patches, although losing small amounts now, due to tax. hair is soft and fine, but can still get away with no wig, and so much easier to look after!!
I have been eating lots of pineapple since first chemo, and yes, it does help at the time, but not long term. very refreshing tho. and lovely. with each chemo, i have suffered the sore mouth, sores, shrivelled gums and mouth and loss of taste buds. I think each person responds differently to their chemo and some get side effects worse than others. Luckily, I am starting to improve today, which is quicker than last time, so hope my last - yes LAST chemo in 2 weeks will be quicker and then I can enjoy myself for a few weeks before the op!!!
sorry have to go, dinner ready!! be back soon
take care all and ‘speak soon’
deb x
Hi Debs, have u tried Manuka honey< buy at Sainsburys. Bout £8 a jar. If nothing else, we get some education with bc !!
Did have shoulder length hair, had it cut shortish week ago, but maybe I will have it shaved but am a jelly baby n scared to do it. Stupid really, its going to go, bit like the last chocolate, trying to make it last longer!!! Will see whats left after another nights sleep. ordered some night cap beanie type things 4 night time, should be here in few days. If we all lived nearer we could have a hat, beanie, scarf tying party, now that could be really good fun!. Any1 good at drawing eyebrows? - no, not on the back of my head, well, maybe after a drink or two…
Hi Sandra, good to hear from you. This site is really good for us, as always its good to have people really understand what this all means, physically and physcologically. Yes we do try to shield our family a bit. My two children do not live with me anymore, 1 son of 22 lives with his dad and a daughter 21 who has recently bought her 1st mouse house with her long term boyfriend. My daughter has been a treasure and went to my 1st chemo with me, I didnt really want her to go and see poorly people (!) but she insisted and would have been upset if I had said no. She was fine and took it all in her stride. She will be going on thurs for my 2nd one. I think its called role reversal. Yesterday she spent all day at hosp with a friend who was having a baby. They have been good mates through uni and her friend wanted Jen there for support. Jen even got to cut the chord. Hope it may have put her off for a few years till she has sampled life a bit more. She bought her friend a few baby clothes and was going a bit gooey over them…HELP.
Re wig. I suppose it will take some getting used to. You are right about the badger bit in the middle, save on shampoo too.
Watched some of the gymnastics in Olympics, fantastic.
Just had tea, two pieces of toast, slice of ham on each, then some slices pineapple, then some cheese squares and melted under the grill, very nice. The dogs thought so too.
back tomorrow,
bfn
love Chris x
Hi everyone, I don’t think I’ve posted on this thread before but I just noticed the comment about pineapple. This is a very different situation but when I had my WLE on Tuesday they ulcerated the back of my throat with the equipment really badly and I was in a lot of pain. I could only eat icrecream but I thought I’d try some juice and drank a big glass of pineapple as I was very dehydrated after the op and it nearly took the back of my throat off - agony for hours. It sounds like it might be helpful for a sore mouth after chemo but I just thought I’d share my story just in case - would hate for anyoone else to have it happen.
Love, Maggie.
Maggie you want to try frozen grapes ,don’t bite them just suck them
