March 2026 chemo starters

I am feeling okay thank you. I will have 4 x EC (one every 2 weeks) and then 4 Plaxitexel. I’m a bit nervous about it, but happy I can have chemo, as that was a question until today.

I wish you well with your second EC next week

You are the same dose dense as me  It is strange to feel happy about having chemo isnt it but it means we are throwing everything at it

I agree. Until today the oncology team thought I might have Stage 4 (may have spread to liver), but they confirmed today that it hasn’t and that I am still Stage 3. So chemo is a go!

That is great news

@blackcatgirl1 my chemo regime Is planned to be the same. I’ve had 2 x EC so far. 2 more scheduled. Then paclitaxel. Are you pre or post surgery? I’m also advanced stage 3 at present but having a couple of other things checked.

Head hair shedding slightly. Not noticeable to anyone else yet. Same shedding / lack of armpit hair growth elsewhere.

Still feeling ok. The night wakes haven’t been as bad this cycle with the medications. The sunshine is helping! I’m eating normally and big portions but as you know I am very much preemptive with the anti sickness meds and it has been a real help.

The sunshine is lovely. Although I cant help but think I wish it was cold enough for hat weather but warm enough to not need a coat :joy:

Do you take any antisickness before your chemo round? I still have some left from the last round. I wonder if I should take a couple the day before?

I am post surgery (I had surgery in December and in January), but they have found one new tumour in the breast I had surgery on (and are checking some other things out) so I will have to have more surgery after the chemo. Thanks for the tip about being preemptive with the anti sickness meds. I really suffered with this after my first surgery, so, like you, hope to get ahead of the sickness as much as I can.

@bird25 you might want to check out this new thread that @foxgem and I set up a few days ago. All about healthy eating :+1:

Omg i am so so scared for chemo tomorrow and all of the side effects its going to bring! I have taken my steroids etc and am in full panic mode! How do u do this?!

Hey @catlover2 I found the anticipation of chemo so much worse than the actual chemo and side effects! The list of side effects are so scary, lets not sugarcoat it but in reality the majority of people only have a few and my oncologist was very clear that I must let her know if anything was unbareable (nothing has been so far), as its more important to them that we finish the course so they want to make it as easy as possible for us.

I’m only one cycle of EC in, but I’ve carried on as normal with my 2 young daughters going to playgroups, fun days out, normal gym sessions and just had a few more naps when I’ve been tired :joy::sleeping_face: I’ve got my next one on Tuesday, mine are every 3 weeks. Ive also not told many people, literally only 5 people know and other than that nobody has a clue I’m going through chemo. I was diagnosed in October and surgery in December.

You will get through it  let us know how you get on xx

It is really stressful that first one, sending you hugs @catlover2

@katie91 is right though you might not get many side effects at all especially on the first one. I’m 10 days after my first EC and today I did a 5 mile walk! All the side effects I had got easier and easier each day. Just take one day at a time and go slow and steady. Keep up with all the medication they give you that’s really important. As soon as you think, do I feel sick or will this make me feel sick, pop an antisickness tablet in haha That’s what my nurse told me.

The steroids might ramp up your anxiety up a bit so try to rest and find a really calm space. “Where am I now? What can I see? What can I smell? Am I safe?”

@catlover2 honestly once you get going you’ll feel much better. I’ve hardly had any side effects as some others have said, yes the list is crazy and does freak you out but no way will you get them all. The first round is the worst and then you kind of get used to it. Let us know how you get on and stay strong :flexed_biceps::heart:

It is so tiring all this nervousness, isn’t it? I feel like I’ve been in shock and anxious since I had my first biopsy back in November 2025 (they told me then that it was highly likely to be cancer). I hope you sleep a few hours at least. I hope tomorrow is much better than you think it’s going to be. I am having 4 x EC and then 4 x Paclitaxel. How about you? On another topic - I am guessing from your name that you might have a cat or two? I have a tuxedo cat called Patches, who is something of a princess. She hasn’t left my side over the past few months.

Thank you! Im having docetaxel, carbo and a phesgo injection, something like that anyways, every 3 weeks for 6 cycles. Really not looking forward do it at all, they said i will feel unwell for 7 to 10 days  but I know I need to get it done asap! This is only the start of my journey, i had my biopsies in jan and had to wait til be told in mid feb, but i could tell by how they acted it wasnt good but i dont know why they wouldnt tell me before. Aww how lovely!! I have 2 cats, tilly is a diluted tortie and teddy is a really pale ginger and white, they call it apricot. id have so many more cats if I could haha!x

You will have to add a pick of patches! I love cats so much!

Your cats sound lovely. I would have more but mine wouldn’t put up with that! My husband had tonsil cancer last year so I have experienced how incredibly caring and professional the NHS staff are and how they really know what they’re doing. He is in remission now. It helps me to know that everyone treating us really wants us to get back to full health, as far as that is possible.
