Anyone suffering with constipation? The dreaded haemmoroids and bleeding have made an appearance today. Been constipated all week and tried to fend them off after Paclitaxel and Carboplatin on Monday ![]()

I don’t know if I can use Anusol during treatment- will have to ask. I just can’t look at another prune. Thought I’d done with this during pregnancy. I’m gonna name the haemmies Bertha and Gertrude and hope they do one soon and are on their merry way.
Yes, its horrible! They gave me docusate and movicol/laxido. Have you taken anything?
Hey treacle, I literally feel your pain
I haven’t been constipated enough to not go but when I do it’s extremely painful because things are much harder (its very hard discussing poo without being disgusting haha) It feels like road rash! Definitely similar from after pregnancy. I spoke to my GP and convinced her to give me something a step up from anusol which I am hoping will heal things up before the next round. Another lovely side effect!
@treacle on my first round of EC ended up in the Cancer Assessment Unit with constipation. It’s good they’re all so nice, I did not appreciate having to talk to so many people about my bowels. If you’ve not moved your bowels for a few days and especially if you’ve not passed wind, you might need something additional. I was given glycerine suppositories and some to go home with, plus a regular (2 X per day) protocol with Laxido. It’s settled a lot but usually the anti sickness meds I get during infusion and the next three days kick it off.
As much as I don’t wish this on anyone else, I’m glad I’m not the only one! I also ended up on the assessment unit week 1 and begged a doctor called Ahmed for an enema- not my finest hour ![]()
they gave me Laxido and Docusate as well and told me to take Lactulose this week before infusion and for a few days after, but think I may need the stronger stuff throughout. This is not fun!
I have hit the complete opposite problem on a mix of Phesgo, carboplatin and nab pacitaxel. thought yippee on Saturday and ate one single wheatabix before heading out to my fave vegan resturant for lunch. CHef there knows me, is red hot on hygiene, makes and cooks everything from scratch and I bloody well played Ìt safe with a fresh boring plain white rice dish with seaweed and peas. . Big mistake .Now clutching lomperimide (Imodium) like a lifeline everywhere I go and staying at home till Ìt kicks in. I dream of my old whole veggie food diet of lentil cottage pies, wholemeal breads, wholemeal pasta and everything made from scratch.
All I can say is if you ever did get hit with the opposite problem kids sudacream makes your life a little more bearable if the world is dropping out of your bottom. cannot say anything about the opposite problem. trying to get my brain around another evening of two poached eggs, some white ricotta and spinach pasta tortellini in plain mild cheese sauce and maybe some boiled almost to death frozen veg….again.
Truly hope the hospital team can offer something to make your life a nicer place and tips on food that you could try.
Glad it’s not just me and I said the same I can’t ever imagine coping with a hangover after this ![]()
Wig looks fab!!
Glad I’m not alone in it feeling like a really awful hangover, if only we got the fun night before too
xxx
Definitely none of the fun of the night before
I’m not much of a drinker anyway prior to diagnosis in my 30s with 2 little ones, I got it all out of my system in my 20s but will definitely limit my alcohol in take too, especially over the summer months I think it’s when it creeps in with me haha! Xx
I wore a baseball cap today. I know this no hair/hat look is what we want to avoid. Ive never looked more chemo, but the hat felt secure on my head and actually once I got out I didnt care what I looked like. It’s my hat season, so be it ![]()
I meant to say to your earlier comment too 525 days sober is amazing!!
Looking fab, the hat really suits you ![]()
Thank you. I think I’ll celebrate the end of all this with a glass of champagne or a fancy red wine
but my days of drunk are definitely behind me haha
Oh you will 100% deserve the fanciest glass after the last few months ![]()
