Round 5 (new paclitaxel regime) day 3 and my red tomato face seems to have gone down for now. Those pesky steroids!

Major period pains today though. What’s going on with that?! My ovaries don’t want to give up! They are as stubborn as my leg hairs

Also feeling the fatigue now. Waking up from a good night’s sleep in need of coffee, coffee, coffee. Going to try and walk through it like I did early EC days. Slow and steady.

Enjoy the weekend anyway you can everyone. Small wins make a difference

Ive heard it said a lot that chemo hates movement and that it can help fight the fatigue. I think the trick is finding the right balance. So I’m just going to do a little bit, maybe not march too far or fast.

How you feeling at the moment?

@foxgem im feeling ok waiting to have my first paclitaxol, i dont like the thought of losing my eyebrows and lashes , or the thought of being to unwell my son seeing me as he will worry bless him he is 13 . I have been ok On EC and coped quite well with it .

@foxgem go for the do a bit then rest a bit. To start with try do 10 mins then rest ten min then do another 10 mins before a longer 20 min rest to recover and slowly build up. TBH on three weekly chemo l get knocked right back to zero each time and have to slowly build back up. I loved walking and have tried that as well as gardening but thanks to chemo guts l find it hard. (Even short walks have to feature easy loo access. One bit of chemo I am NOT going to miss)

Hope you find the right steadily improving balance of do a bit then rest a bit for you. Also hope the period pain stays manageable for you and that you can do some things that give you joy this weekend.

Morning all!!

Day 5 post 1st docetaxel today and it hit pretty hard yesterday! I’m very grateful that I’ve not been nauseous or needed any anti sickness whatsoever so that’s a win but the mouth soreness, fatigue and bone aches WOW!!!

Any tips? Especially the horrible mouth? I’ve got some of that mouth wash prescribed the bright green stuff does anything else help?

Any Healthy-ish foods you’ve tolerated well with the mouth soreness? For some reason all I fancy now is shop bought chicken and sweetcorn butties and galaxy ripples :joy:

Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend xxxxx

I ended up doing 16k steps on Thursday day 3 post docetaxel (not on purpose just naturally on school runs/playing with the girls etc) and my god did I feel fatigued the next day!! Be interesting to see next round if I calm down the steps on day 3 how the fatigue will be on day 4 because it hit me HARD yesterday

16k!!! :joy: whoops haha

Weird how at the time you feel ok and then the next day your body says nope

I’m sticking to just 5k a day at the moment just incase. Will see how my day 4 goes tomorrow

I know I think because I still had the steroids in my system I was just buzzing around doing all sorts without realising but I will 100%, not make that mistake again!! Yes 5k is much more sensible  Hope you’re OK today xxxxx

I will admit l am not enjoying nab paxitaxel gut side effect. Managed to get out for three hours yesterday and only managed that as chef friend lent me her staff room loo key. Just got back in time and that was with lopermide.

@foxgem, you might find tomorrow (day5) is no fun pain wise but hopefully it will ease right back after day 6-7. It has got a little easier pain wise by round 3 but round 1 was dreadful. The ruddy stuff always hits the knee I damaged years ago walking Shap Fell followed by the shoulder I dislocated three times. I use paracetamol upto the max on those days after checking my temp first. Hope you manage to get some rest and it eases for you sooner rather than later.

Sorry you are still struggling :frowning: I have the opposite problem, very painful going to the toilet. We need a little of each other’s side effects, shame we cant trade for a day or 2 haha

I’ve been taking paracetamol but its not really doing much so I might upgrade to something stronger. Its like lightning bolts all over my body. Legs, knees, hips. I thought I had bad period cramps but it just kind of spread form that area so it must all be nerve pain. Here’s hoping this round is the worst

@foxgem My only positive on pax was that the agonising bone pain was at least a fixed pattern & disappeared every round exactly a week later like clockwork so I hope it’s the same for you. Found that easier to grin & bear knowing it would end versus the complete random ongoing symptom bingo of EC x

I’m not sure if it’s just a taxel thing as I’m on day 6 of docetaxel and WOW the bone aches in my hips, ribs, pelvis, back, shins and knees :face_with_medical_mask:

Wishing it wasnt the same for us all but also glad it’s not just me :frowning:

You are certainly not alone!! I think my worst day for aches was Friday which was around day 4 l, it seems to be slightly better today so hopefully tomorrow it will start easing off for you too xxx

Feeling the pain too. This 2nd cycle of Docetaxel has just floored me. I slept for a full day yesterday which didnt happen 1st cycle.
Im clinging to the fact I only have one more to do, but dark moments take over and its hard to find a way when I am just so totally exhausted.
Sorry for the moan…

Sorry to hear so many are struggling with pain. I had none on paclitaxel. Very strange. Definitely worth raising with onco teams for pain relief advice.

I’ve got my first herceptin/trastuzumab injection tomorrow without chemo (had 4 with, got to do 5 without); be interesting to see if I get any side effects at all or if it was all the chemo. Then oncologist Tuesday to discuss hormone blocker .

Some of us are dose dense paclitaxol so i wonder if that makes a diference at all? , with the pain however i do know some dont suffer as much as others , not looking forward to friday at all , im worried about losing my appetite amd not being able to eat as much as i did on EC , how have others managed as i know pac can change ur tastebuds?
