March 2026 chemo starters

I’ve since heard it’s the colorectal team who have requested it but I couldn’t speak to them. Left a message to find out why but now just have to do the normal waiting which we all hate!

This is interesting - having not had acupuncture I was not aware it could be done as a non invasive therapy. Food for thought for me. Did it help with the “toe birthing” foot pain and muscle spasms from your pac treatment?

@2kittens and @twink1 re scans. Not much I can say except I am sorry that you potentially have a weekend without answers and to ponder which we can all relate to. It’s the waiting that is so very hard - we get it and I am sending big hugs to all those awaiting scans or their results. this journey to health definitely is testing our metal. Also hats off to all the Bad Ass Baldies or Semi-Baldies that braved treatments, air conditioned super markets or any outside-ing in this heat. Who knew we could do it! Amazing Ladies. Xx

PS and we are a “lively group” according to the May (Thanking @Poppy261 !) chemo group - I rather like that , March Gang! Xx

It did ease off considerably that day. A bath always helped and the 10 am acupuncture… it was back the next night and day, though. You can have the bath every day but the acupuncture is a bit pricey even if you could get the appointments. It really got better the day I messed up my last filgastrim jab. Relief for one day was nevertheless a win.

I found the article straight away, thanks for the recommendation @twink1!

I agree with everything she’s saying and especially how it often can be minimised away by others because it’s all in the name of the much larger goal of saving your life. I have wondered if any women have secretly declined chemo purely based on the hair loss side effect alone because let’s face it, the other potential side effects from breast cancer chemo drugs can be a bit of a lottery, but I’d say for the majority at least some degree of hair loss is guaranteed. And it’s the only side effect really that feels like it has the potential to have an effect on how we’re seen and/or treated by others we don’t know. For me, I’ve got to say currently the only two places I don’t feel self-conscious are at home and the hospital!

@foxgem great stuff - ‘style it out’ and enjoy the freedom of not giving a stuff about what others might think! :flexed_biceps:

@2kittens the waiting is just so awful, and is one of the worst things about this whole business. Hope you can find some distraction over the weekend. Sounds like it’s a belt and braces thing though, and better that everything gets checked. I’ve not been offered any scans so far (apart from the initial mammograms and ultrasound) and that makes me uneasy too. Either way we can’t help feeling anxious! Sad to say it goes with the territory. Take care and hope it all goes well. :hugs:

@2kittens I truly hope someone can let you know why it’s been requested and that it’s just one of those we check everything with a fine tooth comb once you are on the cancer radar things. may all go as well as Ìt clan for you.

Today I went OUT as in out out to Shrewsbury from early this morning and just got home. It is an hour plus drive and it’s the first time since before chemo started that I have dared go so far from my home. stopped for a latte and shock snack at a pub made of simple steak and sweet potato fries child sized portion after I explained To the chef why I needed what I was asking for as it was not on the menu. they charged me just a £10 and the food was very well cooked too as they used a tiny section of their premium sirloin as I am on chemo. went well with a 0% alcohol lager as it was the lowest sugar option they had with no alcohol in the shade. only needed to take three loperimide and NO frantic loo dashes so I am taking that as a clear win.
I even walked round the inside of shops with nothing on my head. teens told me I rocked the look and no one made nasty comments which has truly boosted my confidence. I have even managed to buy some 100% cotton curtain fabric so I can make my own drain bag in pure cotton for when I have surgery start of August.

Doing something other than starring at my own home walls and walking round my garden or being at the bloody hospital has left me feeling like I have had a short holiday and TBH I am hoping the last round pre surgery might mean I could think of doing this again. finally feel like I might be able to beat this bastard.

Hope everyone else is coping.

Yeh loved the fact teens thought you rocked @wibbles .:smiling_face_with_three_hearts::woman_dancing:That is one honest boost. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

That sounds like a true holiday. :beach_with_umbrella::sunrise:.

We certainly dont need to travel far to see beautiful places in Britain. I love day trips. Especially in air con cars in this heat. :automobile::cold_face::joy:

Enjoy your new found freedom. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::automobile:

Today I took the wig and knitted boob out with friends for a lovely afternoon tea at a big celebration event :hot_beverage:

Lovely distraction, yummy food and now home on the sofa. Wig removed and to be honest I’d forgotten how annoying hair can be! It goes in your eyes, wafts in the wind and on hot days it’s even hotter!

Wig now removed and normal, slightly cooler, service resumed! :joy:

I hope you get some reassurance about your scans soon @2kittens and @twink1 . Hopefully it is belt and braces - I’m having an MRI a week after chemo as they’ve scheduled my surgery for exactly 3 weeks after my last chemo session. No other scans and that’s making me wonder if maybe I should/ will have something else too. I think we will be concerned about so many things on this cancer journey as there are so many unknowns. We all have different elements to our situations too so it’s almost impossible to compare - hoping for quick answers and results for you xxx

Glad people got out and about today wig or no wig . I saw some friends too - only for a short while but it felt a little bit more like normal life :crossed_fingers:my bloods are OK for final chemo and PICC line removal on Tuesday so I can switch gears and get ready for surgery on 21/7- the good news is that my breast surgeon is confident the cancer has shrunk (MRI will hopefully back this up) and so less invasive lumpectomy and SLNB planned. Just need the chemo to be in the rear view mirror !

Hoping the weather calms down a bit now and we can get some more normal temperatures.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend - March Gang (like that one @joodles):heart::heart:

@wibbles this is so joyful to hear! Small steps towards normality. Onwards and upwards - you’re getting there! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::flexed_biceps:

@2kittens what a treat - how lovely! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: It’s SO good to see you ladies getting out and about and gaining back some normality. We really need and deserve this!

Last chemo done and dusted yesterday! Feels like business as usual with the yucky tastes, etc though. Feels good to have the PICC removed (was done in seconds, much to my surprise and delight!). Thinking it’ll only sink in when I get to the end of the two weeks without having another infusion. Radiotherapy is on the cards though, and 5 years of meds so not quite there yet, but it’s another corner turned.

That’s great news @m1sty.george. I totally get the waiting 2 weeks before the ending of this part feels real but it must be so nice to have the PICC removed - well done on getting to this bit xxx

Woohoo  The picc line removal suprised me also! Straight out in seconds haha

Hope you get through the next week. It hasn’t really kicked in for me that next week I dont have chemo but I think when it comes to the day I would usually be having chemo I will feel a sense of relief
