MARCHING Together

Although I tested negative for the BC gene I would gladly give up my ovaries. Why chance it. I had a double mastectomy back in January. No regrets! So soon I will have another surgery for the implants. The expanders can stay in upto a year I was told. I had radition and they wait months after that to do the next surgery. Although I would love to get rid of my stomach I’m not going through that I’m doing the implants and hoping for the best. Plenty of time to think about the next surgery if I want to change my mind. Good luck Lynne.

Hi ladies, it’s the ‘not yet marching on’ lady here! Waiting for the results of my third WLE next week, will be either mx or rads. I’ve been marching since January and it’s getting boring now! Sending my love to you all, Rose, Beryl and Suebee across the water! Still sleeping in the chair?! Wonder how Sharon is getting on? X Francine

Afternoon lovely ladies

What day will you get your results Francine?  Will send some good karma your way the night before and on the day.

Pandorra so sorry you’re still suffering, any chance of getting some stronger pain killers? Is it where nerve endings were cut or something to do with the wound not healing properly?

Hi Eileen, haven’t heard from you in a while so lovely to see you here.  Like you the whole cancer thing seems to pop into my mind at some point everyday but less and less as time goes by.

Cheryl I hope life is improving for you, you’ve just had one problem after another recently so you must be due some stonkingly great good fortune soon to make up for all the hard times.  P’raps you should start buying lottery tickets?

Lovely to hear from you SueBee, sounds as if life it getting a bit better for you and about time too!

Rose, hope you’re feeling a bit better now, sounds like you’ve been having a horrible time of it.  It’s all just a bit overwhelming really.

Lynn I’m sorry I can’t be of any help, hopefully someone else can but I’m sending you a big hug.

Hooray for pretty bras Beryl, some compensations for all the hormonal woes at least. Bit jealous actually as I’ve never been able to wear pretty bras, mine look like a major engineering project!

All good with me, I like my new job and seem to be coping OK with the hours, although I find that if I go out after work, even for a few hours, I struggle a bit the next day but hopefully that’ll get better.   Boob still a bit swollen but nothing I can be bothered to worry about and no significant pain so I’ve been incredibly lucky. P’raps *I* should buy some lottery tickets too!

love to all

Hi Sharon
So glad things are going well for you. I get my results on Thursday but am having a lot of pain with the thrice operated on boob. Have a big hard lump under the wound too. I’ll let the surgeon have s look at it on Thursday. Might be time to say goodbye to it! Sending my love to everyone marching on. X Francine

Hi all!
It is hard to believe it’s been six months since the month that radiation started!
Yes still happily sleeping in my recliner Francine. Prays to you for some good news.
I still believe when we were given the names of the surgeon, oncologist and radiologist the shrinks name should have been there too! But I do find comfort here with the group and it has really helped me knowing everyone is marching! Bless you all.

*Prayers

Good luck for tomorrow Francine, let us know how you get on

Sharon

Morning all. Thanks for your good wishes for today. I’ve had a conversation with Gloria the boob and told her that I may soon have to say goodbye to her or fry her for 3 weeks. She didn’t respond, just hung there looking rather sad and lumpy! Not s great conversationalist at the best of times, lol. Beryl, sounds amazing, I’ve always wanted to visit the lost city of Alhambra. Have to put it on the after BC to do list but perhaps when it’s cooler there. I’m not too good in the heat and my Anastrazole hot flushes don’t help now. My temp control seems to have gone out the window, I’m either boiling or shivering! Sharon, how is working life still? Eating well?! Xx Francine

Hooray, no more surgery needed, clear margins. Will have 3 weeks of rads when the seroma has gone down and that will be that hopefully, apart from 5 yrs of Anastrazole.

Woohoo Francine! *does the jig of joy for you*

Must be a huge relief to know you’re on the home straight now, delighted for you

xx

Sharon

PS lunch today was roasted guinea fowl, fondant potato, lots of lovely veg and a very nice bakewell tart with custard.  Getting fatter by the day so hoping I find some willpower soon or I’ll have to be carried into work on a lorry :womanlol:

Thrilled for you! So good to see such brilliant news. I love it! Ps on a personal note I’m coming slowly back to life. They said 6 months, seems pretty accurate! Xx

Thanks everyone. Such a relief for all of us. Won’t break the champagne open until the rads have finished. X Francine

Francine, so pleased for you. Take it easy and then party!! Just returned from boating holiday on Norfolk broads snd it was great. Just love being on the water, scenery beautiful and serene.  Hope everyone doing ok, suppose mamos are coming up for some, we certainly have a busy life dont we.  Received invite for the moving forward session, Sharon I believe you have already attended, so looking forward as seems very informative. Bought some jingle bells in the Range today, great for annoying people. Masses of love to all xxxxxxx

Thank you Eileen and Pandorra, yep it’s a great relief not to have more surgery. Just want to get the rads out the way now but have a problem with fluid behind the latest scar. Apparently they won’t start until that’s clear So I’m massaging it like mad! I may have to have it drained if it doesn’t budge. Want to go away for Xmas so hoping all will be done and dusted well before then.

HI ALL!
FANTASTIC FRANCINE! !!! I am so so happy for you! Time for Some celebration I think. After surgery when I got good news everyone wanted to throw a party but I didn’t really want to so November 18 I want to celebrate my last Herceptin infusion! Big Party! Looking back I think we should all celebrate each milestone. We are moving in the right direction ladies. Understandable that we feel overwhelmed at times.

I love to humor amongst us. It is a Great survival tool. Glad you’re feeling better Rose.

Wonderful to hear the good news!
Love,
Sue

Guess what girls, I have my appt to see the rads consultant on Tuesday, hooray! Never thought I’d be so keen to get a part of my anatomy fried! Hoping the fluid may have dispersed a bit by then Eileen but not looking good at the moment and painful. I’m on the paracetamol and massaging with Bio Oil. Can’t drive at the moment and OH has hurt his leg so can’t drive either so I’m using the hospital transport system to get there, great service.

Evening ladies. I’m now nearly marching on! Start 25 sessions of rads on 14 October so should be all done by Xmas. Crikey it’s been like running a marathon but never quite getting to the finishing line. Hope you are all good. I’ve just bought 2 tickets for the Breast Cancer Care candlelight carol concert in London on 30 November, only 10 left. Going with my daughter, as a ‘goodbye cancer’ treat and I think it might be quite emotional. X Francine

Morning Francine, phew, very pleased that you’re nearly there and it’s fantastic that it’ll all be done before Christmas.  Means you get to enjoy the Christmas hols properly (although I expect you’ll still be tired from the radiotherapy by that stage so hope you’re going to let the family/friends run around sorting it out and not try to do it all yourself).

Hope everyone else is doing well? The board is very quiet so I guess we’ve all got swept up in normal life again.  I can’t decide if it’s a good thing that the time has gone quickly or not.  Hard to believe my first annual check up is due soon, where on earth did a whole year go??

New job is going well, I love it and they seem happy with me.  I’m coping with a full working day perfectly well but still finding that I don’t have the energy to do much after work and really appreciate a rest at the weekend. I suspect that’s as much to do with having had 18 months away from work as the whole cancer business though.  Had a few quiet, weepy moments as well, mostly through tiredness I think.  I’ve been catching up with old colleagues/friends now that I’m back at work and somehow or other having to explain why I’ve been away from work and seeing their reaction makes it seem a bigger deal than it felt at the time.

Love the sound of the candlelit concert Francine, off now to find out more about that.

love to all, hope you’re all feeling good and doing well

xx

Sharon

Hi Sharon

Great to hear the job is going well. Life is strange, you probably wouldn’t be doing it unless you had had BC. Will be glad to get the rads out the way. Typical, the day after my final one, I have to go to see the arse doctor for my checkup on the old bowels. To say I’m fed up with hospitals is rather an understatement! The carol concert sounds lovely so if you manage to go, we can meet up. X Francine

Hi Francine, just booked a ticket for the candlelight carol concert so hopefully I’ll get to meet you at long last (I’m not difficult to spot: dumpy little ginger with acne & wrinkles, wonky boobs and a big grin :womanlol:)

xx
