And sun cream, hat and shades.
D is back. I am having a nap while family go to pool. Hope the sun lasts for this afternoon.
How are the rest of our musketeers doing on day 4?
Hi Ladies - day 4 for me today and I’m coping! I think the thought I haven’t got to go through this again in 3 weeks is helping enormously! I’m feeling a little lethargic but that’s not a problem with the weather as it is today - got all the windows in the house open and I’m laying on the bed for now - Husband and Son have gone out for the day and before they left, my husband set up my sun lounger in the shadey area with the parasol up too so that’s where I’ll be heading a bit later on!
Hope you all enjoy the sunshine today - the fish and chips (with lots of vinegar) sounds delicious but I think I’ll pass on that for today - chicken and avocado salad with a baked potato is my dinner delight for today!
Gorgeous sunny day in wales. Kids spent hours in the sea. I struggled to keep out of the sun. Lots of factor 50 and ended up under a towel at one point.
Hope everyone is ok.
Friends came to visit which was lovely.
I am going to need a rest when we get home.
Just back from a fab day at Chapel St Leonards, sunny but breezy so comfortable for me. Boys spent their time digging, dam building and kite flying. I managed 2 snoozes, read half my book and feel ok today, felt a bit spaced out coming off steroids but on the whole very good. Hoping the sea air will let me sleep all night. Fish and chips for tea but so desperate for a cup of tea even though it is not my favourite drink at mo. Mouth is feeling much better on new tablets, wish I had them from the start!
Night all
H
Hi H. What tablets? My throat feels like swallowed glass and not eaten properly for days. Have so many products to use and on antibiotics but nothing working x
Trisha, my Onco prescribed Fluconazole tablets for 10 days starting 1st day of chemo to prevent oral thrush. I am still gargling with Difflam 3 times a day. Taste buds are better this time.
Sometimes warm salty mouth wash can help a sore throat but it makes me gag so I try and avoid it. Orange juice, honey and warm water drink may sooth it a bit.
Hope you throat is better soon, I bought some Weetabix protein milkshakes so I could chill them and drink if my throat was too bad to eat, you need some nutrition to keep you going.
Hope you feel better soon.
Heather
Is it mouth or throat. Other than fur and bad taste, I have not had any issues. I just remembered I use prescription toothpaste from my dentist duraphat and change my toothbrush every cycle. I have stopped using my electric and use a very soft corsodyl thoothbrush. I got 6 half price from boots when Chemo started. No idea if this helps.
Feel for you Trish as this has been going on for ages for you hugs
They took a swab but nurse said it wasn’t thrush. But as my temp was up gave me antibiotics. Have the difllam and have to water it down because it stings. The Nystatin doing nothing. Very frustrating. Drinking loads of cold milk to soothe it x
Hope your throat improves very soon Trish - there’s nothing worse.
Must say, my mouth isn’t as bad this time - my tongue is a little sore and taste buds are certainly not right. I’ve discovered trifle! Brilliant for sore tongue and dry mouth. Also keep sipping chilled water - not the best taste but certainly seems to be working better this time.
Husband and Son gone out for the day again today - so another day for me relaxing under the parasol in the shade of the garden on the sun lounger! It’s going to be a difficult one later, they’re going to light up the BBQ when they return - me I’m having soup!!!
Have a good day all
Well done Mai. I struggle to get up and dressed on day 4-8. Don’t over do it.
Trish drinking is good. Shame it can’t be something stronger. Would have loved a cider this holiday. Not complaining though x
Feeling tired today, think it is just the heat and hot sweats at night, would love to sleep all night as it just catches up with you. Quiet morning today then boys are going to family birthday party whilst I enjoy the air con and relax this afternoon.
Have to say although I am tired and its my own fault going out yesterday, it is a lovely feeling knowing that chemo is done and each day I am getting stronger. We are all nearly through it, keep going ladies ? we can make it!
Hope you feel better soon trish, you really haven’t had much luck on these cycles have you. I have used corsodyl toothpaste and now the mouthwash throughout chemo and havent really had any problems.
Need my blood dance for morning to get me to my last chemo Wednesday! Been eating as much protein as possible! Can definitely feel the effects now though, skin has been horrible , dry and itchy. Now using aveeno and piriton as suggested but the piriton knocks me out but loradine version isn’t strong enough.
Just back from day out in Skipton and the castle with boys and hubby. And have now got them cleaning the car whilst I put my feet up.
Hope everyone else coping x
Back home from a lovely 3 days by the sea. I feel the best I have been for ages. Went to the beach at least 5 times. Sun, sea and fresh air has done me the world of good.
I will boogie for both of us Katie ?I have blood test on wed ready for 6th and final round on Thursday. If I fail bloods on wed then the world is broken as I feel fab. Will be on a platelet making mission for the next 24 hours as that seems to be my nemesis.
How you guys doing on day 5?
Actifry is brilliant obviously it does Chips and roast potatoes really well with hardly no oil but my favourite thing is chicken breast you don’t need any oil at all and it cooks it so evenly and doesn’t become dry so much more moist than in the oven and the outside is a little crispy - perfect
Next I’m trying roast vegetables
Hearing all your seaside trips I’m thinking I could do with a day at the coast. I haven’t been anywhere near the sea this summer. Perhaps I can fit in a day before end of summer and surgery.
Yarmouth isn’t a bad drive from me about 2 1/2 - 3 hours and Norfolk coasts are nice. Some nice sea air and some very salty and vinegar chips does sound like a treat.
Gosh lots of blood tests and last chemos coming up this week.
I have my first appointment back with the surgical team towards the end of the week so will hear the plan of what’s next!
When it comes radiotherapy I really don’t know much about it. I believe I’ll have my lympth nodes in my neck zapped and chest not sure about the ones in my arm because I’ll be having them all taken out during surgery??? I’m wondering how many weeks I’ll need. I wonder if I could get 1st surgery and dads all done by Xmas??? Second mastectomy and recon I think can be a year later. But that could give me from new year until end of the year having a break for a while!!
Good luck for the blood tests and chemo this week. I have nothing going on this week except sewing in name tags and enjoying the last week of hols. Strange having nothing in the diary!
Heather
Doing the blood dance for you girls today ?
My boss is off on holiday this week it’s the first time he has dared take time off since my diagnosis poor man. So this week I’m heading in2 the office and trying 2 keep thinks ticking over. I’m feeling really panicked that I can’t do it. Not being in the office much I feel out of the loop and I’m worried I won’t be able 2 pick up. Plus the fear of germs and seeing people, driving the car and worried how tired I’ll get. I’m glad I’m doing it as I’m developing a fear of going back but this morning my stomach is in knots.
Good luck WolfEE, deep breaths and you will be fine. I am off until Dec but still dreading going back to the stress and being expected to just slot back in as if nothing has happened.
H
I hope the blood tests go well today Katie and Treehouse, doing the neutrophil boogie for you ???.
I hope work goes ok WolfEE. It should be a fairly quiet week. I’m not back until January as we work on school terms.
Reflexology today which I find really helpful then off to East Sussex tomorrow for a few days by the coast.
Good luck with all those name labels Heather. It’s amazing how many clothes they need. I sewed some in during my last chemo dose.
What happened to the weather??? Gray drizzle here
Good luck today Katie ??
Hope you are kicking a** in the office wolfee. I am sure you will be back to normal as soon as you are at your desk. It’s just getting there . ????you got this. If you can do Chemo work is nothing.
I have the dreaded school shoes, trainers and football boots x2 ? followed by label ironing. ?
Keep fighting the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter
