May 2017 chemo starters

Blood test done so fingers crossed. Will be really gutted if last one can’t go ahead tomorrow!

MJK reflexology sounds fab . I’ve never had it but want to try it along with reiki. Enjoy your days away.

You will be great wolfee. But completley understand your fear. It does sound daunting. Maybe it’s what you need to boost your confidence.

PJS are great aren’t they mai. I love mine too.

Treehouse is it your blood test today too?? Good luck x

Anyone else hopefully on treatment this week? What number weekly are you on now rosie? Trish how you getting on with your side effects now?

I’m off to trampoline park with boys. Cup of tea for me!!!

Have fun at the trampoline park Katie my lot love it ( which one do you go to?)
My sister is a trained reiki practitioner so I had a few sessions years ago. Definitely relaxing she was even there for the birth of my first son. No idea if it has any benefits tho but can’t do any harm.
Bloods tomorrow morning for me ?

Your days by the sea sound so fab so glad you made the most of good days…I am day 9 and at last feeling more normal…had a really low weekend with lots of tears poor husband didn’t know what to say and I felt so bad spoiling his precious days off this T definitely makes me emotional…mouth has been much worse this time really struggled to eat …jelly and tinned fruit all that would slide down but not good for the bowels…I will never take taste buds for granted again…I live in North of Scotland so hasn’t been so warm here which is good for the night sweats I suppose although they seem to be very often during the night!! Wolfee hope your day at work goes well probably the thought of it worse…I worry a lot about being able or actually wanting to go back full time as I struggle to do the housework just now…I admire all you ladies with small children you cope so well…good luck with the bloods Katie & Treehouse and to anyone else on treatment this week?

Hi all sounds like many of you had a good weekend and tried not to let the SE’s spoil it too much.

The weather is still glorious here,  MJK I was at the beach in East Sussex yesterday, Eastbourne (managed to avoid the chemical haze) . Had a lovely village pub lunch - well as lovely as possible without tastebuds and with a sore tongue. I just carry on eating and pretend I’m enjoying it!! Also had a lovely walk on the cliffs and slept like a log last night.

Have started eating tortilla wraps for lunch as they’re softer than sandwiches.

Am waiting for delivery of my caravan pjs, Royal Mail say they’re on the way eek how exciting!!!

Had blood test this morning ready for Thursday.

Katie It’s my 9th one same as you I think but I have one more 3 weekly cycle to go.

My positivity today has just been dented, Just had a call from the chemo unit to say that chemo this week has been deferred due to low platelets!!! Aaargh, finishing line has been moved again

Totally alarmed! - whilst laying out in the garden, I can see lots of fine hair on the bottom half of my legs - I think it may be the daylight encouraging it as I’m sure there wasn’t any there yesterday!

Just spent almost £300 on boys school footwear!!! If they loose any there will be casualties ?.
Rosie I feel your pain, delays are demoralising ?have you got a date for treatment ?
Ok I am feeling left out on the caravan pjs have you all gone for your normal size? I am contemplating going up a size just to be comfy. Advice please as I need to put an order in and catch up?

Sorry to hear you’ve been delayed Rosie. ? I hope you can enjoy having more ‘normal’ time. Here’s a platelet polka for you ???.
The reflexology was great. I generally have it a week after the chemo and have found it helps with the side effects.
Sounds like you’re loving the caravan pjs. I’m hoping to pick some up when I’m in Sainsburys.

I went a size up and glad I did. When I order my next set I’ll do another size up (some wiggle / gain space) not neccsary for most of you but since diagnosis I’ve gone from size 8 and now a 12 but heading fast for 14 (all my own doing I’m a comfort rather) I’ve been this size before but lost weight about six years ago and managed mostly 2 keep it off with determination diet and exercise but I’ve reverted back 2 comfort eating, no exercise and carbs galore!! Plus I think chemo naturally makes u gain a little on top!!

Work isn’t going great I’m feeling a bit useless. I’ll update tonight I’m going 2 be leaving shortly.

Rosie I’m so sorry you’ve been delayed how gutting but try think positive another week of feeling ok ish!! Finishing would still be better but another good week might be ok just make the most of it but don’t over do it. It is a shame bug hug for you xx

Mai, I also love my pjs more knowing you have them it reminds me someone somewhere is sitting feeling the comfort of the same pjs going through the same **bleep**ty filings as me in them. Xx

Hi curly sorry to hear you are having marshmallow moments. I was the same last cycle at least 2 days I couldn’t stop leaking. The in laws came over to help but I found having people in the house when I felt so low really claustrophobic and then I felt worse for being ungrateful.
My emotions were all over the place and poor hubby also felt bad as he didn’t know how to help because I didn’t know what I wanted. Luckily it only lasted a few days and the fog lifts.
They will all be back to school next time so I can just get on with it

Thanks everyone, my platelets were 81 and the other results were on the lowish side apart from the HB levels which were back up to 100 following the blood transfusion. I’ve had treatment every fortnight and then every week since May so not surprising my body’s starting to complain.

Have just spoken to BCN it may be that surgery could be bought forward if the chemo has done its job already but I will discuss this with oncologist on Monday.

My pjs have arrived!!! They are actually even nicer than they look on the website. I went a size up as thought I didn’t want them to be too tight. They look ok size wise but have yet to try them on.

curlyh - I know what you mean about returning to work. I feel I have really slowed down and can’t imagine going to work every day. I do work from home a couple of days a week but am running out of new work and would need to return to the office to generate it, so may have to go off sick soon esp with an extra weeks delay!!

Just rang chemo nurses and my bloods are still low but are OK to go for last one ! So relived. Sorry to hear you are delayed rosie must be very frustrating especially as so near to finish line.

Hope today was ok wolfEE. Get home, nice bath and new pjs! Love mine . You will definitely have to get some treehouse! Can’t believe price of footwear for your lot!! Have fun ironing in labels.

Hope you feel better soon curly. Not too nice feeling like a marshmellow! !

Hairs on your legs Jay ha ha! Back to shaving!

I’ve felt quite full of energy today. After trampoling I’ve cleaned a couple of kitchen cupboards that have been driving me crazy and just made some scones with my youngest x

Clarks shoes, football boots and Astros for 2 boys. Yes I made grumbling ’ how much???’ Comment at the till. Hopefully as the boys saw the cost they will look after all their stuff better this year!!!

Doing a low temp healthy dance Mai???
Feeling a bit flat post holiday , rainy day , dreading being back on the Chemo stubby treadmill .

Sat on sofa in my leopard print onesie. Very unsexy!! Must look at these much talked about pjs!
Had lovely time with family.visiting. all gone now and feel best I’ve felt in days! Sods law! Chocolate and tv for me

Glad you are feeling better Trish ?.
I have a onesie phobia with my D as SE I worry I wouldn’t get out of it in time ?

Treehouse - when you had low platelets did you have any bruising? Or any other symptoms. Just checked last weeks platelets and they were 226, it seems a big drop to 81. When they took my blood today there is no bruising at all where there has been other weeks when platelets were higher. I do hope they haven’t made a mistake?? 181 would make more sense.

Trish - glad you had a good weekend with family, chocolate and tv sounds like a good idea.

Jay - I also have leg hair growing and under arm, when what I really want is the hair on my head to grow more!!

Hi Rosie. I always bruise badly so it is difficult to tell. I picked a spot in my ear and that took a while to stop bleeding so I am concerned about tomorrow. To be honest I have felt fine (except when I got low RBC and needed the transfusion )

Good morning ladies, I started my journey on 17th may, today’s the day I finally get to ring the bell. It’s going to be an emotional day to say the least

Good luck AnnieA on your last chemo, ring that bell loud and proud!

I was just relieved when mine was over, almost ran out of the chemo unit!

It hit me last night when I went to bed, I just laid there and cried, tears of relief. Now last of the drugs are working their way out of my system, I actually feel human again! Had the best sleep in months last night.
