Shi, never heard of the flight socks trick but it sounds a good idea. And I’m loving all the sparkles!
Andi, you had me in hysterics. Nearly choked on my porridge.
Treehouse, well done, great to have you back with us on the other side! Have a nice restful day.
Off to the hospital soon for last chemo. Phone hasn’t rung yet so I assume my bloods were ok. Phew!
Have a good day everyone, or if you can’t manage good, just enjoy Shi’s sparkles. Hugs from me.
Tatyana, hope your last chemo goes well. few more sparkles to take with you ??? shi xx
For my op in March in had TED stockings before op and 3 days after op. Nothing for chemo but that was in summer and hot flushes/ steroids meant I was red hot couldn’t tolerate much clothing!
Had the boiler after serviced today and have been told not to use it as needs a part. Good job the weather is going to be mild for the next few days!
Hope all are well this morning.
H
Shi, loving the sparkles!!
Good luck today tatyana! Go ring that bell xx
Hope you are feeling well treehouse!
Loving the sparkles shi, just what we all needed xx
Well done Treehouse , glad to hear you’re out the other side. Onwards and upwards now.
Yes I was on weekly treatments - 12 weeks of paclitaxol with Carboplatin every 3 weeks. The side effects were definitely easier than EC which I had every two weeks first. As you say you have to have blood test every week as well but I’d take that any day over more severe SE’s. I think my treatment is quite standard in the US.
Andi - you made me laugh with the Greg Wallace story!! I often am surprised to catch sight of myself and remember I have no hair. I look a bit like my Dad ha ha, I have some long strands which I could probably style into a comb over?
Welcome Shi to the group - you can never have too many sparkles
Heather - don’t worry too much about the boiler you’ll soon be in sunny Spain ?
I didn’t wear any socks during chemo but have got to wear those delightful green stockings for 3 weeks post op plus those Lycra Spanx type knickers that come up to the armpit and support bra for 6-8 weeks 23 hours a day. The nurse then proceeded to give me a leaflet on when you can resume sex…
Andi - the drinks are called Nutricia pre-op ,clear lemon drinks. The nurse said they don’t taste very nice but can be improved by drinking them cold or over ice.
Haha the baldy man made me laugh! It’s funny cos I heard a noise through the night a couple of weeks ago and went to window to investigate the neighbour who works nights was putting rubbish in bin on her return looked up and got a fright when she saw me peering out of the window in the moonlight back at her, I thought it was really funny as she probably wasn’t expecting that at 5 in the morning!!
You forget your bald sometimes don’t you! Pleased to see treehouse you feeling better following your op I’m day 3 on the Abraxane and got a pick and mix if SE from the feck t! Manageable but waiting for the crash normally happens to me day 4/5 fingers crossed not to bad this time my poor bum had just started to recover from the fec induced constipation and it’s back with a vengeance I know it’s too much info but I have really sore piles any tips ladies, tatanya go ring that bell we do don’t have one on our chemo ward only in radiotherapy, so it’s going to be while before I get to ring it!!
Top tip get bra expanders!!!
I got a bra size and cup size bigger. Definitely need extra around my back as swollen.
Well done Treehouse, the bra extenders help.
Go ring that bell Tatyana.
Thanks for the sparkles Shi and all the best with chemo. I had surgery then FEC-T and am now on 15 days of radiotherapy.
Andi I love it. I still find looking in the mirror a bit freaky. As for Greg Wallace. Nobon’s allowed to judge my cooking at the moment either for ‘masterchef’ or ‘eat well for less’ ??
Hope you get the boiler fixed Heather. If not dream warm holiday thoughts.
I hope you’re doing okay with radiotherapy Katie. Im sore braless and tired but looking forward to finishing next week. X
Hello ladies - well 3+ weeks since op and I’m feeling good.
My daily walking exercise is going well - I managed half hour yesterday, although I felt that was a bit too much so today cut it back to 20 minutes and I managed a 15 minute drive to the local farm shop.
I have finally received an answer with regard to flu jab (I was just a little concerned due to Herceptin) but they’ve reassured me it’s ok to have it week before next herceptin and all should be good. So now I’ve got the problem of contacting the surgery to arrange - they’re constantly busy!
I’ve received my appointment to see onc re rads - Monday 6 Nov (which is just over 6 weeks from op) - so a little while to wait - but I’m hopeful again now that I may get rads done by Christmas.
Hope Wolfee and sister, Trisha and Daffodil are coping well after surgery. Daffodil is due a house move I seem to recall…
So, who’s next for surgery?
Had my lunch and due to canular in right elbow I ate left handed and got it down my front. Lovely nurses changed my bed and helped me into my caravan pjs. The nurse has them too! I will be in for another night. Arms abut restrictive I can pull but not push as chest muscles have been messed with to put implants under. I won’t lie boobs are not pretty at the moment.
Forgot to say about the boiler, when they came in April to service it I asked to be put on the priority list for callout and repair as was going through op then chemo. I am on it for a year and that’s why they are getting the parts for tomorrow and coming back to fit them. If I wasn’t on the list we would have had to wait almost a week. I also registered with utilities to go on their list too. So ladies, check with your boiler company and get yourself on their priority list.
Heather
Ding-a-ling a ding! We don’t have a real bell at my hospital so this will have to do. ???
Last chemo done and dusted, picc line removed, didn’t hurt at all, in fact didn’t feel a thing, although hubby (who had arrived a bit early to pick me up) had to look the other way until the nurse told him it was safe. Seems they’ve got enough on their plates without having to scrape squeamish husbands off the floor!
Feels great not to have that thing on my arm! Not that I minded the picc, it saved me dozens of needles, but I’m well glad it’s finished with!
Trying not to be too euphoric because I know the SEs are still to come, but it does feel like a big step!
Treehouse, you’re doing fine, keep up the good work. Let’s hear it for the caravan PJ’s!
Jay, you are doing brilliantly with your walking and driving. It’s nice to have you out in front showing us the way!
