Dearest Lucy

Thanks so much for your advise, I hadn’t heard of chemo cough before, so was convinced I had picked up a dreaded virus.

Also thanks for the eyebrow advise, I do tend to keep checking mine to see if they are intact, so must stop doing that!

I can’t believe the hair grows so quickly after, but am so pleased that you will be able to go back to work without the wig.

Lucy you have been my saviour yet again, thank you.

Lots of love

Hi All

I noticed that we had about 2 days with none of us around on here. I wasn’t flooded but had plenty of rain all the same! It’s raining hard again now. I suppose we will just have to make the most of the odd nice day.

I am sorry you have not been feeling well Pauline and hope your cough and sore throat are soon better. And what with the hair coming out it’s a pain isn’t it. My hair is growing thick and fast now so it really isn’t that long to wear wigs and scarves.

Dilys, I hope you get on ok with your chemo this week and fingers crossed that you will be as lucky as last time.

Lucy, did you think any more about having a holiday?

Love to all.

Love Lollie x

Hi Lollie

glad that you are ok…no we are still thinking about the holiday, we want to buy a place next year and we want to get married and a holiday…infact we want it all, but it’s the money factor and what is the most important, but we really could do with a holiday so once rads is over I will sit down and have a good think…

Hi Pauline

you are welcome, I would get the cough checked out with your GP if you are worried about it, always better to be safe than sorry… also some of the meds they give you give sore throat symptoms…

Dear Everyone

So lovely to have you all back! I was feeling so lonely. Sitting here in my baldness is very comfortable (so long as the door bell doesn’t ring). My chemo says not to go to my GP with anything at all, but straight to them or A and E with the chemo booklet if out of hours? So that is what I will do. Amazing how different they all are, isn’t it? Pauline - get rid of it as soon as you can’t stand it any longer, but not before. It really is quite liberating! But I am definitely stopping touching my eyebrows!

Loads of love to you all my dears

Hi ladies

My two cents worth - Dilys is absolutely right, get rid of it. I didn’t and everytime it was washed it just got worse and worse and heartbraking sometimes. Once I got it cut (AFTER 8 chemo) it was liberating, definitely. Hard but I wish I hadn’t put myself through that agony.

Pauline - I had 4 FEC (and then 4 Taxo) and it was the Taxo that caused eyelashes and eyebrows to fall out so if I’d only had FEC I think those hairs would have survived. It was lovely to have no leg/axilla hair and both lots have grown back (whilst on Taxo) thinner so that’s a bonus - there aren’t many bonuses are there?

Chemo cough made me think Kennel Cough and I’ve never owned a doggie!!! Anyway, not to be trite, I hope it clears up quickly.

Dilys - I can’t believe your 2nd chemo is nearly here already, time flies whether you’re having fun or not. Maybe that’s just a sign of old age but I NEVER feel time heavy on my hands, au contraire. When I had a couple of “don’t know what to do with myself” days on chemo, I baked cakes to give to neighbours - quite therapeutic and felt ever so slightly creative and useful, neighbours were happy campers too!!!

I was definitely thinking of you all over the weekend, even if no posts. I was hanging wallpaper - not doing it again, got too much Polycell on me and too little on the paper!!!

Dear All

This is my second attempt to post this morning - lost the first one in the ether somewhere. Pauline - just get rid of the hair. It is so disgusting when it comes out in constant dribbles. You will know when the time is right for you. I am havng a wig day today for a change. Mind you my pubic hair is now going - yuk! But on the plus side so is my underarm hair which is a relief. Can’t believe how hairy I was when you see it in piles round the house!

I can’t believe the second chemo is so close now either. Can’t say I am looking forward to it, but at least it will get me a third of the way through. And it might be quicker this time if I can get my blood done tomorrow while I am there for the oncologist. What do the oncs do at this point? Just keep an eye on you or what? They are so far the worst for running late so I hope it is worth it!

Dahlia I know what you mean - from a hugely busy job to nothing I thought I would be bored but I am not at all. Time to cook, read, do jigsaws, keep up with the e-mail. It is great!

How are the rest of you? How is the cough, Pauline? And are you all ok, Lucy, Lollie and Candy?

Much love to all

Hello Dilys, Lucy and all.

Thanks for enquiring after me Dilys, yes i am ok at the moment apart from feeling a bit sicky today.
I hope everyone is having a good morning so far. I posted a question re: hair regrowth on the other page as i am a bit worried mine has not started to regrow just yet.

Best wishes to you all Candy

Dear Candy

Glad you are ok-ish. Hope you get some positive encouragement about hair re-growth. As you know I am on the start of that journey but hope to god it does come back! What do you bet it will be the body hair first, just to be irritating?

Much love

Dear Ladies

It’s lovely we are all back. The cough is still toublesome, seemed to clear up during yesterday afternoon, evening, but then 5 o’clock this morning it reappeared!
I just feel soooo tired. Ah well it could be worse.

Candy, I am sorry you are feeling sick today, is this the first time on these tablets?

Dahlia, Dilys, I have already cropped my hair to under 1 inch all over, so its well on it’s way, like you say Dilys I can’t believe all this hair is mine. I keep going into
the garden to brush it and hope the birds make use of it as nesting material - we must recycle you know!!!

Hope the blood test goes okay tomorrow Dilys. Lucy, I think you really deserve that holiday first after all you have been through and if you buy a place you might not be able to afford a holiday for a while. Lollie the weather has been lovely here today, hope it’s the same with you, as you say make the most of what you can.

And Dahlia, could you move in next door to me please, I could do with some of those home baked cakes.

love to all

Hi All

Thank you for asking how I am Dilys. Yes I am feeling ok at the moment and dare I say almost back to normal if I could only remember what that was! I have an appointment with the oncologist on friday which is the post radiotherapy check. I just hope all goes ok and he doesn’t find something else! Dilys, when you see your oncologist tomorrow he will probably ask you how you have been since your last chemo so that if there have been any problems they can make changes. For example, some people have the chemo dose lowered or a change of sickness meds.

Pauline, I am sorry you have still got the cough. Did you see your GP?

Lucy, I know what you mean about wanting it all. I am the same and money just doesn’t go far enough does it. I am still dreaming of winning the lottery!! Serously though, I am still waiting for my redundancy money and I was made redundant in Nov 06. Beginning to think I will never get it!

Glad everyone is ok.

Love to all.

Love Lollie x

Dear Pauline

Welcome back and sorry the cough is still troubling you. Must be miserable indeed. I just hope I get away lightly again after round two on Thursday. At least the sun is out today. Brushing your hair in the garden sounds a great idea! I only have a yard so it wouldn’t work for me, but hope your birds appreciate it all. Can’t wait to get to Lollie’s stage when it is growing back thick and fast!.

Lots of love to all

Hi Lollie

We must have been posting at the same moment! Thanks for that about the oncologist tomorrow - more or less what I thought. And I think we are all in that lottery queue!. Mind you if you were made redundant that long ago they really should have paid you by now, my love (speaking as an ex HR person). Have you chased them at all? Or thought about getting some help chasing them?

Lots of love as ever

Pauline

Name your cake and I’ll nip round with it!!!

We’ve had some sunshine here today - hooray.

Did anyone read yesterday’s BC article in the health bit of the Torygraph?

D

OH my God - you ladies have been very busy on here today, it’s just me missing…I am glad that you are all in fine fettle…I know what you mean Candy about feeling sickie today, I think my antibiotics are making me feel a bit queasy or perhaps it’s just the weather not sure which, no I didnt read the article Dahlia but I heard that it was very patronising…someone did post a link to it on here somewhere but I forgot to go and have a look…I have been busy de cluttering my life for the last couple of day’s and still continuing I keep humming and harring about things to get rid of…I have binned all of my clothes that i used for chemo I just wanted to get them out of my life so that was a start, luckily I used old shabby things when I had that so it wasnt too hard to let go of them did it that way intentionally…I knew that I would always associatiate them with chemo something that I dont ever need to be reminded of…

Hi Lollie - as you are unemployed you should be able to get legal aid to chase them up for your money…I would be after them hell for leather…I am not getting paid at the moment and they actually took someone on in my job on a perm contract compainies these days ae so cheeky it beggars belief…they had the cheek to ask me when I would be returning - I felt as though they were telling me to get a move on back to work, which was an ordasity as I say they are not paying me…I have read some horror stories on here recently about employment…

oh well Love to you all

HI Lollie

Like you I deem my health and treatment a priority and nothing like work matters to me any more, I constantly say to people it is only a job for goodness sake…when you are faced with this illness enjoying home and other things are essential…

I won’t be losing any sleep over it…I do have a habit if work places get on my nerves I just up sticks and walk out anyway and I always find another job…I never have put up with people attitude’s at work…life is too short and you realise that even more so now…we have those apprasal things at work and my I can’t wait to say my bit about do you think that I am really interested in this rubbish get a life…

Hi Lollie

Glad you have someone on your side in all this. I know work isn’t the be all and end all but they should be paying what they owe you. ACAS are usually pretty good at following up so hang on in there my love. Whatever else don’t just let it go. Your health is important but you don’t need people walking on you at the same time. Glad to hear you have a Union and ACAS with you.

Much love and sleep tight

Hello Ladies

I hope that you are all ok…

I see you have been up again in the early hours Dilys…I guess you couldnt sleep!!! I thought I would come on here early today and wished I hadnt, the first thing I saw was the post of ‘preparing to die’ It has made me feel really down and I was starting to get so positive again…I love reading our posts but with the new system it seems to bring up all posts that have just been posted when you first enter the forum rather than the ones you are wanting to go to , I don’t remember it doing that before as the secondaries or whatever section it is is one that I would hardly go on from past experience of seeing something I didnt like…anyway I was just wanting to wish you well for today Dilys and wishing everyone else a lovely day whatever you are doing…Dahlia I have posted on your trampoline section I hope you don’t mind…

Good morning Ladies,

Sickness seems to be getting worse by the day, the antisickness drugs don’t seem to be working so when i go back for my next lot of chemo tablets i shall ask for some different ones.

It is lovely and sunny here today even though it is quite windy, good washing drying weather my mum used to say!
I hope you are all able to enjoy the weather while it lasts.

Lucy it seems you are quite busy at the moment, i can see where you are coming from with the chem clothes, as i had to get some new towels as for some sillyreason they reminded me of the stay in hostipal and all that goes with it.

Lollie i hope you get your money through soon, its not fair that they are earning interest on it and your not.

Pauline can i join the queue for your home made cakes?

Dilys i’ll be thinking of you next Thursday and hope that you don’t suffer too badly with this round of chemo.

Sorry if i’ve left anybody out, have a good day Candy.

Dear All

Hallo everyone! Yes the posts do come in order of posting now but I acually don’t mind browsing through them. I just try to avoid the depressing ones. Sitting here in a turban and getting ready to go for blood tests and see the oncologist. Glad it is not tomorrow yet! Sorry about the sickness Candy - hope it wears off for you soon. It is one damn thng after another sometimes, isn’t it? I find it hard to believe now that I worried about washing my hair in hospital! Didn’t think then about losing it. How is yours doing Pauline?

Much love to all
