The time has come for me to start with the little white pills, Monday is D-Day… mmm…have been reading your scare stories and I really don’t want to feel bad as I feel sooo good at the moment. I will take them after my evening meal as that seems to be the best thing to do according to all your messages.
I am going into this thinking that it will be like taking a multi-vitamin, hopefully I will have better luck with tamoxifen than I did with the chemo but we shall have to wait and see on thet front!
Hey lady…how was your first pill!
Seriously though, apart from the odd hot flush and achey ankles I didnt have any side-effects. Not sure if the achey ankles was down to running after an 8 and 4 year old…or the pills.
Try not to think about it as the brain can do scary things to us
Have been on Arimidex for 6 months and the initial side effects are now virtually gone. Am keeping everything crossed. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
I started tamoxifen on 18 October, and apart from losing weight no ill effects so far. I’m having hot flushes, but I was getting those from the chemo anyway so no change there. If anything they are slightly better, and I am sleeping better at night too.
RoadRunner, music to my ears! My onc said I’ll probably put on weight with Tamoxifen and as I’ve already put on a stone with the chemo I’m dreading putting on any more.
It gives me hope to know that it is possible to lose weight whilst taking it.
First pill down… if I can lose wieght with them then all the better. Felt very strange. Can’t really put into words how it feels. My daughter will be 7 yrs old when I stop in five years time and my son will be 8 coming up for 9…
Losing weight??? There is hope after all… Like you, mammabee, i’ve put on more than a stone thru chemo and really need to get back in my trousers. Due to start taking it in Jan, so please keep your fingers crossed for me too.

Oh my how on earth did you lose weight? I have put on loads but i am trying to love the ‘fat’ me. Bought some nice clothes recently. The flushes i am coping with and as long as the tamox keeps the cancer at bay its not too bad. Somehow you learn to live with it.
Good luck Baby and remember ya always got us to support you and help you.
Take Care

i piled on the weight during chemo…body craved stodge…and i wasnt going to deny it put it that way! On starting rads and tamoxifen…its all starting to fall off me again…am very very almost at pre-chemo weight…which is cool…this carries on i might just end up at pre-kids weight
Weird how we are all different, isn’t it? I just shed stones during chemo as I just couldn’t eat. I shall be well annoyed if Arimidex puts it back again! Or rads, which I just started today. I’ll be finished by Chrsitmas - yeh!
I was soooooo nervous before I took my first Tamoxifen, so I totally understand how nervous you were feeling prior to popping your respective pills. I started my Tamoxifen on Nov 1st, and apart from nausea (which has now subsided) and achey legs in the morning I’ve found it trouble free so far. Not had so much of a hint of a hot flush but not getting too excited as I’m sure my turn will come once it accumulates!!
I hope your experiences with Tamoxifen and Arimidex will be positive ones, and may your side effects be almost non-existent!
Well one week in to Arimidex and I seem fine. Fingers firmly crossed. Rads started the day after and that is fine too so far. How are you both? Hope all is well. Kelly - you are probably up to your neck in house moving?
I am fine thanks! The pills are ok so far, touch wood and all that. The only problem I have so far is remembering to take them at the same time everyday…not easy.
I have been on my diet for just over 4 weeks now and I have lost 6kg… I am VERY happy and dertermined to lose at least 20kg more. I have been carrying this extra wieght for far too long now and now that I can see results I am sticking with it. Not sure how I will fair over Christmas but I am VERY dertermined!
